I would never give this company my money. The person who did the consult was condescending, arrogant, and rude.

Case's answer to my concern about racism is false and misleading. The owner called me and left a message for me to change my review. No concern about how I was treated, or the racism of his company, just fix his review. There is no justification for his company's refusal to serve a major county that is very close to his business but for race.

It did not. CASE is the most racist company I have encountered. They advertise on the radio, in newsprint, and on their website that they serve MD, DC and VA. No qualifications about location are listed in any of their advertisements. But if you call them from Prince George's County, MD, a predominately African American community, do not expect service. I went online and listed a request and the appointment was promptly booked. Someone called me and confirmed date and time. When I sent an email later (which had my picture on it showing that I was black), suddenly the appointment was cancelled and I was told that they do not go to Prince George's County. So CASE will serve Virginia, Baltimore (Roland Park, Reisterstown and Guilford no doubt) and Annapolis (ALL further from Bethesda than Prince George's), but not a community of affluent African Americans. When I pointed this out to the owner, I received an email telling me to contact someone else, they just can not work everywhere. See note sent to me after appointment was booked and confirmed. Case had the porch door replaced and provided carpentry work on water damages at places of the wood around the door. The repair was done well and efficiently.

They are consistent. They always had the same person available to work with us through all aspects of it. They worked with us on floors, cabinets and appliances. They responded very well if something was a miss. I think they were more costly then other companies. They were here on time.

They were punctual, worked well, and finished on time.

This review is for Case Design's craftsmanship, only. (SEE SECOND PARAGRAPH) The skilled craftsman in the Fred division, Jorge, did a superb job in renovating the two bathrooms with which I could not be happier. There was great attention to detail and design, and the porcelain tiling was outstanding. I was informed all along the way of what was being worked on and choices I could make. Jorge provided useful ideas about design and efficiently worked through issues and problems as they, inevitably, came up. The craftsman was very professional, responsive, and easy to work with. He arrived on time every day and sometimes worked late to finish parts of the job and to stay on track with the project time frame. Although the project was pricey, I got what I paid for. My experience with the project consultation aspect of the job, which included planning and materials selection and ordering, was different. There were missteps throughout the process: a tub and 2 sinks that were the wrong size, thresholds made out of an inappropriate material, tile for one bathroom not included in the original tile order, incorrect measurements for the mirrors which then required replacement, errors on the final billing that necessitated 3 meetings to review, and a series of appointments that were cancelled at the last minute. As a result, the overall length of the project was extended by more than 2 weeks. The communication and follow through by the project consultant was not at the level I needed and expected. I would use this company again but would be careful about what personnel are being assigned to the job.

Awful. Their original quote was higher than all the others and then they came back with a quote 3 TIMES HIGHER than that. Waste of my time and grossly overpriced.

They were fine. It was a fair price. It was reasonable.

The sales person by two months ago and took measurements but left all the paperwork at our house. Despite multiple requests to pick up the paperwork and give us an estimate for the job, there's been no follow up. It's really unfortunate since we've heard good things about the company but this experience makes them seem unprofessional and unresponsive.

TJ and Colleen, project manager & design team, were professional from the start. They were able to incorporate material I insisted on (Jerusalem stone) and later a difficult to find material (fossil limestone) into the design. They were friendly, positive, and responsive. They made it easy for me by taking my ideas and taking over the work where I didn't want to be involved. They quickly understood my design feel and came up with appropriate accessories. They also came up with ideas to replace bathroom and kitchen hardware that needed to be upgraded in other parts of the house (or installed things I bought). They got me a great price on an upscale pendant lamp I wanted, and then installed it. The team was able to work around my crazy schedule. The work was done on schedule (although the extra projects were a lower priority and took a little extra time at the end.) They were punctual and kept the place clean.

Case recommended that I work with a division of their company, Fred, since my project was not large and did not require an interior designer/architect. A representative came out to do an estimate on Monday, June 27. Since then I have made five attempts to get the quote for the work and no one will return my calls or e-mails. I have received other quotes but was looking forward to working with Fred since they could do all the work and I would not have to go through multiple contractors. I was expecting to spend between $5,000 and $6,000.

Things were off to a good start - until the representative showed up. The rep started with "Are you sure you want to replace this door?". Not the best way to start out the estimate in my opinion. I briefly explained that I wanted to replace the front door because of bowing, cracking, and sag issues that hindered the door from functioning properly - as well as address some issues with the floor around the area. The rep handed me a book of Simpson Door products after I told him I wanted a specific door from Jeld-wen. I perused the brochure and when I asked him if we could discuss some other door options as Simpson didn't offer the style or finish I wanted - he told me it was my job to do that homework - "If I was doing your kitchen, you wouldn't let me pick your cabinets, would you?". That was about all I could take before I told him that I believed continuing with this estimate was a waste of both of our time and kindly asked him to leave. I am really disappointed as Case Design came highly recommended from my Board of Architectural Review and neighbors. Nothing against the company itself, but the representative was one of the worst sales people I have come across.

It seems they want to start at $30,000.00 for profit. It is only a 9.5 x 10 kitchen. They didn't have a showroom so I could look at the cabinets. I wanted them to do a 3D design on the computer so I could see what could work. It was a contract required and $500.00. My budget was under $20,000.00 or less to save money. I know this can be done for a lot than they quote.

After taking a few measurements, the representative gave me a verbal quote, which he felt quite confident about stating that they do similar projects all the time. I told the representative that I thought his quote was high (I had some decent perspective having undertaken similar type projects over the past several years). He was very firm on his verbal quote and did not appear willing to move on his price. I asked for a written quote, which I never received. Believing that the quote from this company was high, I looked for another contractor and found a highly rated one through Angie's List. I ultimately hired the other firm, who was very professional and did an excellent job, for one third less, which translated into $5,000 - real money. Case may do good work; I'm not really sure. But their very firm quote was 50% higher than the quality job I ultimately got.

Fast and each day they cleaned up and were very pleasant. When unexpected things cropped up, Michael would inform me and explain the various options with pro's and con's of each option.

Case requested that I review them here. So here is my review: My recommendation is that you use anyone but them or do it yourself (even if you have no skills in the area)! I will NEVER use them again and I have used them for many years. They have in the past done a wide variety of projects for me from crown molding to planter boxes. But I will not let them near my house or any of friends or families homes again. They told me that the work would take about 5 days. It took them over 4 months, 2 carpenters and 1 plumber to complete. The project managers are slimy sales people who will promise ANYTHING even if it can't be done. I am an adult woman and the project managers continually talked down to me as if I was a 1st grader! The 1st carpenter installed the shower pan without using a level so after he installed the walls and the doors nothing was plumb or level and the doors would not slide open. So it had to come out. He also left a small fist size hole in my wall just below the shower head and above the fiberglass wall (I guess the idea was that the pipes needed air or he was hoping that I would get mold to grow between the walls so to further aggravate my allergies). My cousin, in another state, who is a carpenter was outraged when he heard this story as using a level should have been an obvious part of the job (besides if the carpenter had asked me, I have a 2 foot level in my house that he could have used). The project manager was trying to tell my senior citizen (her words not mine) mother that the carpenter did not leave a hole in the wall but luckily I had taken a photo of the wall and sent it to him and my mother so he was forced to admit that the carpenter left the hole. The 2nd carpenter did a good job but was a master carpenter and already booked so he had to work weekends on my job. After the first set of walls had to come out, a new set was ordered but they arrived with a crack. So a third set was ordered and installed. I also ended up spending $1400 on a medicine cabinet without being given options for a less expensive option. They didn't bother putting insulation between the medicine cabinet and the exterior wall so I will have to keep the door open to prevent the items in the cabinet from freezing (FUN - NOT). The plumber did something so now I only get warmish water anywhere in my house when before I used to get nice hot water. So now I am calling CroppMetcalf to have one of their plumbers come out to see if he can get me hot water again. I hope that you who are reading this will understand that I was not going to review them here (I already wrote a similar review on Yelp) but the specifically came to me earlier this week and requested even though I had told the head of the division that I wanted: 1) to get confirmation that they received all of the payments and 2) for them to shred my files since I would NEVER EVER use them again. My senior citizen mother told them to do the same thing with her records. My only piece of advice is DO NOT use them for any work. If you have accidently already hired them, watch them very carefully, don't pay them in full until you are ABSOLUTELY positive that the work is completed / correct, ASK LOTS of questions and try to be there the ENTIRE time that they are working so you can check on them frequently. If you don't do all of those things, they will try to get away with anything that they can and charge you a lot for it.

Case was highly professional. Created new drawings from existing work, added necessary corrections, and executed the plan. They poured new footers, re-framed the room, created a new roof and then finished all of the work.

Very professional. They came in and did a good job.

We have purchased a new home in Arlington with a great location a few blocks from the Ballston metro. While the house is new, we have several projects to complete before moving in to customize it to our family's needs. Elle Hunter consulted with us for almost 2 hours. She was very thorough in taking detailed notes as we walked her through the various projects and gave us some great ideas and input. Elle is a great listener and I really feel like she understood our vision. She explained Case's three-step process in a very clear manner and both my husband and I feel confident that Case would do an incredible job with our home. As our home is brand new and we are mostly adding built-ins and some additions that don't re quire much design (screened in porch, basement wet bar, office bathroom), we have decided use individual contractors and will be taking on the project management ourselves. We have a limited budget given the price tag of our new home. If we were remodeling an older home, we would hire Case Design in a heartbeat. I wish I could have the opportunity to have Elle as our Project Director. She was delightful to work with and I know that she would get the job done efficiently and effectively. When I called to tell her that we are going in a different direction than design/build, she even offered to have me call her if we have any questions along the way. Case Deign is top notch and I hope to have the opportunity to work with them someday.

Very good. They did what they were contractually obligated to do. It turned out excellent.

they missed their first appointment due to "scheduling errors" and when we finally had someone out to the house, he was late. He did a good job of explaining the company and the process, took lots of pictures and came back with a reasonable estimate. we will consider them once we finalize our plans.They were middle of the road in terms of quality for price.

We had worked with April Case Underwood and James Wood from Case Design on three earlier projects to renovate three bathrooms and the kitchen. All of these projects were successful, on time and in budget. The crew from Case was outstanding in every way. When it became painfully clear that we had to replace all our 45 windows, build a new expanded deck and create a special patio, we trusted that same team to do the design and the execution. The Case Design Team presented several designs for the deck and patio and we selected one. They evaluated the situation with the windows and provided us several options varying in cost and scope. They patiently went though the research we requested and answered every question. They identified several areas where damage had occured from the old windows and discussed how to repair the walls. We asked them to add additional outside faucets and lighting. We reached agreement and they began work after Labor Day. The work was executed flawlessly. It required both Case workers (Tom and Gary) and sub-contractors. The sub-contractor building the patio suggested several modifications which greatly improved the drainage away from the house and the overall appearance. The Case team building the deck suggested a couple of modifications which again improved the appearance. None of these modifications increased cost or time. The work was completed by November 1, 2014. We are delighted with the appearance. We have also been amazed by the difference in noise and comfort the new windows properly installed have made. This project was completed to specifications and beyond, within budget and right on schedule. We recommend Case Design without reservations.

They did do the work, but over time I discovered that the wood around the areas where they had replaced the trim had begun to rot. I finally hired another contractor to evaluate the situation. The trim was not properly installed. The caulking was the biggest issue. Instead of covering all the trim with caulk, a wavy ribbon was used. Water was able to seep in and caused almost $6000.00 in damage to the surrounding areas. I was also frustrated to find the workers in my home watching TV instead of finishing the work I had paid for. Maybe this is the root of the problem.

David, the selected designer, was awesome. He was thorough, creativity, and detailed. He provided us with samples, and general ideas, as to get a design you would have to sign a contract in advance. The pricing was high, but I like that CASE has a three step process that outlines what is done, when and at what fee of the total estimated cost.
