Description of Work: Replaced driveway with precast concrete pacers and rebuilt a stone retaining wall adjacent to the driveway

Description of Work: I dealt with Chris. He showed up for our first appointment promptly and spent time explaining the process. The proposal was clear and reasonable. The project began within the time frame indicated at the time of the first meeting. The crew worked hard and the patio was completed in just over a week. The job required removal of most of the old concrete patio, laying a new concrete base and laying pavers. The patio is quite large. The patio is just beautiful! Any issues that came up during the project were resolved amicably. I plan to hire them again for my next outdoor project.

Description of Work: This is a bit of a split review. This company specializes hardscapes and did a great job in building a retaining wall for us. I would hire them again and recommend them for this work. The problems arose because they also agreed to reset our fence landscape a portion of the yard up the to caps on the wall and reseed. The landscaping was not up to the caps on the wall, it was not fully graded and the seeding did not such that we spent more money and time reseeding ourselves. I would not hire them again for any of the landscaping work and wished they had simply told us this was not something they could do.

Description of Work: We were given a list of companies, called six and interviewed them. We chose Capitol Landscape of Bethesda (301-887-1880)--Chris and John Scango. They were by far the most knowledgeable, creative and cooperative in providing papers, i.e. licenses, bonding and insurance. They were not the cheapest or the most costly, rather their estimate seemed fair and they had some creative ideas. Our choice was the right one. The finished work is beautiful--neighbors and passers-by agree. They were considerate and efficient. Despite searing hot weather and storms, they were prompt and dependable. They cleaned up when the work was finished and left the premises in good condition and safe. We would certainly recommend them to others with A's across the board and use them again ourselves.

Description of Work: Capitol Hardscapes widened our driveway, installing new concrete to meet up with the existing asphalt drive. They also installed new concrete steps up the slope of our backyard. I met with Chris for the estimate and to discuss the work. He was on time, very knowledgeable, and I received the estimate immediately. When I later contracted for the work, I received a detailed contract via email. The work was performed as scheduled. The work crew was professional and friendly. My two-year old was beside himself with excitement when the Bobcat digger arrived. The crew was so friendly to my little boy - waving to him and smiling as they did their work. It really made his day. The work took 3 days. The first day was set-up and initial clearing for the pour. The second day the concrete was poured, and on the last day a crew completed clean-up. During the first and second day Chris was on site 4 or 5 times each day checking on the work and answering my questions. A few unexpected issues that came up, such as needing to install an additional step, were quickly taken care of. I am extremely happy with Capitol Hardscapes and recommend them without reservation.

Description of Work: They quickly made an appointment to come and provide and estimate but they had to reschedule so I waited over two week. The evening before the rescheduled estimate, they called to tell me that our house was not in their service area so they could not provide an estimate or perform the work. This wasted almost 3 weeks.

Description of Work: Removed a walkway and steps then replaced it.

Description of Work: Removed existing brick retaining wall on front lawn and graded for installation of new lawn. Removed concrete steps and path to front door and build flagstone steps and path.

Description of Work: Capitol Hardscapes installed a stone patio in my backyard using EP Henry concrete pavers and wall stone. The patio measures about 16 feet by 24 feet and includes two sets of steps and two low walls. They began by excavating and leveling the site, building the necessary retaining walls, and adding aggregate to build up the base for the pavers. They built two sets of steps needed to access the patio and reach an existing wood deck. They completed two low seat" walls and laid the stone pavers in a random pattern. They vibrated the pavers into place, swept in extra sand and cleaned up the site.

Description of Work: Repaired brickwork on chimney. Included removing brick cleaning and reinstalling. Matched the grout color to existing brick work.

Description of Work: Resurfaced front walkway with flagstone; built 2 small retaining walls on either side of front of house; in rear of house, built brick patio and retaining walls from rear door around existing concrete parking pad; built small fireplace for outdoor cooking.

Description of Work: Removed old 1000 sq ft concrete patio and replace with patterned paver bricks; construct eight foot tall, six foot wide brick staircase and landing. Subtasks included replacing 4" drainage pipes running under old patio and repairing pointing on other set of brick steps.
