American Deck & Patio

We searched a number of builders for a custom deck that could provide a dry space underneath the deck for entertaining. In the end we chose Dave of American Deck and Patio. The price and overall solution was the best we looked at. Dave was actually the developer of the product and it works and looks great. Everything went smoothly. Dave also coordinated construction with the stamped concrete patio builder.

We worked with Tim Ulman. He was very professional and friendly. The work was done on time and on budget. American Deck and Patio got the country permit and there were no issues with this. We were very happy with the results and would use them again in the future.

American Deck was very professional and worked within our budget and time constraints. They started work when they said they would and completed within the projected schedule. Dave was very helpful in value engineering some aspects where we could cut costs without sacrificing the appearance or quality. Our deck was off the main floor over a basement walkout and was approximately 500 sq feet. We are very happy with them and would recommend them.

The work that was done was excellent. We were promised a beautiful deck and we got one. The provider gave us a lot of very helpful information regarding the permitting process and we were glad we had them to take care of that aspect of the job! We would definitely use them again.

The final outcome was positive. The work was high quality and the main person doing the work (whose name I don't recall) was pleasant and skilled. However, the project suffered from multiple delays, unexplained days of non-work, and generally was not well managed. I'm pleased with my new steps and railing, but probably would not use this company again.

Very well overall. There were a couple of issues at the start - not their fault just some things that were unexpected and there were able to fix the problems. I had a couple of questions and concerns during the process and I got a very fast response and a good resolution.

I left two messages with two different people. Sean was supposed to get back to me. Never did. They sounded they had a lot of work. Review is based on responsiveness. They were were very professional on the phone.

We had a half dozen contractors out. The folks at American Deck and Patio were the only ones to bid. The others wouldn't even return phone calls. Because we had no competing bids, we can't comment on price. We speculate the reason AD&P was able to take on the job when no one else would touch it was that they had crews that specialized each in both decks (carpentry) and masonry. There were some delays, but all were understandable, having to do with the job being done at high summer, which has to be a very busy time for deck builders, bad weather, and some permitting problems. The deck and patio went well and look good. The door replacement had some problems, but AD&P came back to fix things up--even though we were very tardy with our report that the door wouldn't close. This was such a minor part of the overall project that we have not figured the door problems into the overall ratings. Steve Schultze was the project coordinator. Steve is a personable young man who promptly replied to all our emails.

I can't speak highly enough of AmDeck. They were very professional and responsive the whole time. Their crews were neat and friendly and they came when they said they were going to come. Steve Schultz who was the estimator and salesperson was also very responsive and had many different alternatives for us to pick from. In less than a month's time all the projects were completed. I would definitely recommend this company to my friends.

Quote was comparable to other serious bidders so it came down to who we felt most comfortable working with. Steve was our main point of contact and he was great. From the original proposal, through the planning/design process and until the completion of the project he was easy to communicate with. He was patient with us as we made decisions, than changed our minds during the planning and early construction stages. Steve responded quickly and accurately to all questions we had during the process and he was always easy to get a hold of via email or phone. The 2 man crew of Joe and Justin did all the demo, construction and carpentry work. They were professional, pleasant and easy to talk to. Joe went above and beyond as he worked with us on all the fine details of the carpentry work. He even ran some speaker wire through the porch for us and bolted some stadium chairs we had to the deck. The project took about 2 months to complete but it was well worth it as we could not be happier with our new deck and porch.

The deck looks great and will be something I will use for years to come. They were able to get the actual work done withing two days and the job site was kept very neat considering the amount of debris and other materials that were requiring disposal. I will be getting the frame and lower deck re-stained soon to finish off the whole project but I am really excited to have a deck that I can actually use! Thank you America Deck!

The space has been transformed and looks incredible.

American Deck & Patio transformed the living space at the back of our house. Andy is fantastic and had impeccable design ideas. He has seen just about every possible option you can imagine and knows how to bring it all together. We had numerous questions/concerns and his expertise made the choice to go with American Deck fairly straightforward. His CAD drawings were superb - the HOA had never seen better and said so. The installation crew was very friendly and respectful - love Gus - he's always smiling! Any issues were addressed fairly rapidly and while we do have the odd scuff mark or scratch, the overall result is beautiful. We have received so many compliments from neighbors, that I have lost track. Excellent carpenter skills (Gus, primarily) and sublime lighting. The design blended wonderfully with existing colonial beaded siding. The screened porch has beautiful upgraded doors that are substantial - Andy selected nearly everything with quality and appearance in mind. They also referred us to an excellent stone mason who followed up with some flagstone platforms at the staircase bases. The family loves the new porch and is out there multiple times a day. Did I mention, these guys treat you like family? They are very busy and sometimes you may need to wait a bit for things to progress, but it was worth it for us. This was a custom design, built and delivered right before our eyes.

Time will tell, but I was pleased with work and workers. They did a professional job and were very courteous (and cleaned up after themselves). I believe Sean gave us a fair price.

Andy from American Deck came for the initial estimate and provided a timely proposal. The project started 3 weeks after agreeing on the proposal. The process from beginning to end went well with few delays. The end result was a beautiful room exactly how we envisioned it. We had one small issue we called them back after the project was done and they responded quickly. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again for a similar project.

Contractor works well - prefers less conversation/oversight. As with any contractor, requires work-check prior to any payments. Sent the last payment after the porch passed final inspection. done.

The price for the deck was comparable to 6 or so quotes I had received from other builders. Based on discussions with the project manager (Andy), seeing pictures of prior jobs, and reading Angie's List reviews, I felt that American Deck would provide a superior deck and thus decided to go with them. Construction was scheduled to begin a couple months after signing the contract. However, things initially got started about a month late because of a prior job running over, and then a mix-up with the permits. However, once the 2-person crew showed up, they began working quite quickly and were friendly and considerate. Total construction time was a bit over a month. With respect to the final product, I am happy with the quality of the deck and have received many compliments. There were a few things along the way that I asked Andy to take a look at, and each of them was fixed right away. I would use American Deck & Patio again for future jobs.

Andy was extremely helpful and flexible throughout the process, and worked with me to design the deck that I wanted. I had started off thinking I wanted an all wood deck to keep the cost down, but ended up going with a partial composite deck that came out beautifully. I'm really glad he helped push us toward that decision, without being overly pushy. I never felt like Andy was trying to upsell us on anything, which made for a pleasant experience. His patient and pleasant demeanor were a big part of why we went with American Deck & Patio. However, they also offered good prices, and a professional approach. My only gripes are regarding punctuality and communication. The project ended up taking longer than I expected, though I was in no rush to have it done, and had told him that. Nonetheless, communication could be improved as we were left to wonder on several occasions why the work crew hadn't been back for days, or what they were waiting on. I believe a lot of this can be explained due to it being a busy work period for them, which was further evidenced through the late night emails I would get from Andy responding to my questions. Even still, the project was completed, and I was very happy with the end product. Andy addressed my minor concerns himself following our final walk through, and did a fantastic job of being flexible to accommodate my specific requests. Thanks!

Called American Deck and Patio on 30 June 2015 to make an appointment and get an estimate for a patio and deck. Today is 21 July and I have never heard back from them. Business must be good for them if they don't need to call back prospective customers! Can't imagine what kind of service you get from them after you give them a down payment.

Sean and his team were very responsive and work well with me and me and the other owner on the project. I was working from home so I was available to the team for questions and adjustments as issues came up... I was always pleased with solutions even when compromises had to be made. The stayed within budget and when there were budgetary implications in materials choices or other decisions we were satisfied with options offered and the ultimate decision to spend more if necessary. Very satisfied and would use them again!!

The patio looks amazing and the workers were all very nice. It was not completed as fast as promised, but overall we were very happy with the service and are very pleased with the results.

American Deck & Patio did a wonderful job on our deck! They explained the process start to finish before we signed a proposal, and they helped us make the most cost efficient selections for what we wanted to accomplish. They removed and replaced the original deck and rebuilt it with composite decking that is low maintenance. We added privacy trellises and it looks beautiful! They were on time and very easy to work with. I also appreciated that they kept the work space neat and organized in our backyard. I would highly recommend them.
