"While other contractors has suggested a total tear-down and rebuild from the ground up, the substructure of this deck was still very solid. The deck was an ideal candidate for our 'Deck Refurbishment' approach where we beefed up the substructure, bringing the framing up to current code req's, and then added new 25 year-warranty pvc-capstock composite decking and a matching pvc-capstock composite top hand rail. We were happy to have saved you a significant amount of money while giving the deck a face lift. Thanks for choosing our services."
"This client is correct. She did contact our company and we didn't initially respond to her until we saw this post. Our business manager did then contact the customer and apologized for our oversight. We explained that her inquiry had 'fallen through the cracks' and we apologized. We make every effort to contact each and everyone that contacts our company. We're not a large company and it sometimes it can be difficult to field all the call-ins and inquiries we receive, especially in mid-March after our spring home shows and the glut of call-ins that come in at this time. We asked the customer if she still wanted us to follow up with an appointment and she told us she would get back to us if interested. We never heard from her again. Sean Conway, Owner"
"[removed member name], Thanks for the good review. It was a pleasure working with you. Enjoy your new porch if we ever break out of this winter."
"Thank you for the nice review. I also appreciate the recent referral for a client that called you directly. Enjoy the patio and let me know if ever need anything else.. Thank you for being an American Deck & Patio client. Sincerely, Andy Lombardo"
"Thank you for your kind words. I am happy you are happy. It's a great patio for your backyard and family. Budget-friendly, expansive with dedicated separate seating areas for dining and lounging, an intimate 'seating wall' where the privacy trees were planted, the patio delivers on many levels that you, as new homeowners, were looking for. We have had many clients who have seen your pictures and requested a similar approach for their backyard. We hope you enjoy the project for many, many years. Sean Conway, Owner"
Once we signed the contract with American Deck and Patio, Sean worked patiently with us on providing the drawings and documentation to get formal approval on the project with our homeowners association. He took care of all of the permits, submitted all the required drawings, assisted with all the applications, etc. Sean made life about as easy as possible when
going through the initial phases of any project.
As with any large project, there were some delays, but primarily because of all the paper works that the homeowner association required. Sean worked with us every step of the way. After we finally got the approval from the association, American Deck and Patio started pretty much as scheduled. Sean and his wife Mia stayed in touch with me via email throughout the process updating me on the activities and schedule of their crew. Since I'm out-of-state, Sean even sent me photos to keep me posted on the progress of the project.
Through my dealings with Sean, I found him to be honest and straightforward. According to my parents, the crews that came to install the deck were earnest, hardworking, courteous, professional and did a first rate job. They were punctual and always kept the area clean.
I am extremely happy with the quality of the deck that they build. I and my family cannot wait to visit my parents to enjoy the new deck. I would definitely use this company again for any future projects. They easily exceeded my high expectations.
Andy was very easy to work with from the beginning. He drew up a draft contract, which he revised after I consulted with him, and laid out the plans clearly. He and I talked regularly right before the project start, since we had ordered the door separately (and Andy was good about providing advice when we were trying to determine the specs for the door), and the work started basically right on time. Progress was good, although there were a few slowdowns for inspections, the screens to come in, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary. One thing I especially appreciated is right after I first talked with Andy, he checked on the necessary space needed between the wall of our house and the planned porch - since our electric meter is located there - and found out that a minimum clearance of 3 feet was needed. The other contractors didn't even consider this. The team finished the porch just a couple of days ago and Andy came almost immediately to inspect the team's work a final time before collecting payment.
One other note I would like to include - this porch was something I was more interested in having than my husband - thus I handled about 99% of the management of this job on our end. I have dealt with many professionals who have "talked down" to me as a female, and I really applaud Andy, and his team, for interacting with me professionally and in the same manner that I would expect that they would have treated my husband. All in all, a very easy contract experience, and we love the porch!
"Thank you for the nice review. I'm glad your overall experience was positive. Yes, there are always minor hiccups in a somewhat complex project with several people and inspectors to coordinate. I'm happy we were able to work through them and complete the job to your satisfaction. I've never considered the whole female dynamic, and perhaps that's why our relationship was easy and natural. But thank you for pointing that out. I appreciate your referral too. That is how we continue to grow our business. Thank you for being an American Deck & Patio client. Sincerely, Andy Lombardo"
When I first contacted American Deck, they warned me that they had a substantial backlog of projects and wouldn't be able to get to our project as soon as I had hoped. However, after talking to Andy, I decided it was worth the wait to get someone that I felt would do the job right and at at a fair price.
Ultimately, they started work roughly around when they initially estimated they would, and they completed our deck in a little over a week. We now have a beautiful new deck that I'm confident we will be able to enjoy for a very long time.
"[removed member name] Thank you for the great review. Your review reflects the goals I set out to achieve when engaging with a client to produce a great project. Often it's more about the overall experience than the details of the construction. Obviously that is important too, but if the communication and commitment are not there then you will find a reason to be dissatisfied. Please call or email me if you need any more service. Thank you for being a client of American Deck & Patio. Sincerely, Andy Lombardo"
"[removed member name] It was a pleasure working with you on your project. I really appreciate your review. If you need anything in the future please call or email. Thank you for being an american Deck & Patio client. Sincerely, Andy Lombardo"
I would highly recommend this company. The price as very good and I couldn't be more pleased with the porch. we use it everyday.
"Thanks for the review. I really appreciate it. I sent it to Joe as he appreciates getting good feedback from the clients he works for. Joe takes a lot of pride is his work and satisfying even the most thorough customers. Thank you being an American Deck & Patio client. Sincerely, Andy Lombardo"
We had 3 contractors give us their ideas and what it will cost. We did a lot of listening, but we
also wanted to be heard. American Deck and Patio, specifically Andy Lombardo, was the first contractor we met.
He was wonderful. He knew how to listen and give advice. Before he even left, he drew up a design plan incorporating our ideas. Here was a person that we could work with, and me having an engineering background, I could be very anal about details. In writing up the proposal Andy gave us options on how we could save money, or how we could add wow factor. We always felt comfortable with him, and we never felt pressured.
So now everything looks good on paper. So how was the execution? I couldn't be happier with the work they did.
With the paver patio I worked with Lenny, and the screened-in porch I worked with Joe McDonald. Both men were very
dedicated and took pride in their work. As in any construction project, there will always be minor issues that arise.
How these issues are handled is what separates a good company that does mediocre work to one that does exceptional work.
American Deck and Patio, does exceptional work. Not that there was many issues, but when there was, I was brought into loop to make sure I was satisfied.
I highly recommend them.
"Wow what a review and summary of the project. Fantastic. Your project looks awesome and I appreciate the great review and the before and after pictures. Joe and Lenny did a great job and we all enjoyed working for you. Please send the name of your landscaper. He did a great job rebuilding the yard and dressing it up with the plantings. Thank you for being an American Deck & Patio client. Sincerely, Andy Lombardo"
Even with issues with rain and drainage they got the job done on time and did a beautiful job. In addition to the deck and patio he addressed future issues with drainage by running our drain lines out to the edge of our property so that we would have proper drainage going forward and used a much deeper than normal gravel bed for the patio to allow for drainage and stability during the rainy season.
The end product is safe, sturdy, attractive and exactly what we wanted. We definitely recommend American Deck and Patio to anyone wanting to build a deck or patio at a reasonable price.
"Thank you very much for your kind words. We have now built three other projects in your community, in large part to you allowing folks to see our work. The deck and patio created over 800sf of outside entertainment space, which I know will be welcomed when you entertain out-of-town family and guests. We're happy you chose our services and we sincerely enjoyed working with you. Sean Conway, Owner"
took them in stride and got the job done
"Thanks for the review. I think the job turned out great. It was a pleasure working for you."
Anyway, I'm sure they're a good company, but we decided to select someone else to do the work even though the price was a bit higher.
We will be building a fence soon and will use this company again!
responsive communication; I am looking forward having them engage another
project at our back yard;
Both me and my wife are very busy with work, communicate with Andy via email is
one of the best experience I had comparing with the other home improvement
projects I had in the past.
The work team was very polite and hard working, they explained to me their plan
and work progress daily which help us plan events correspondingly.
Another thing I think was very helpful was that
Andy gave us estimate on his first visit, which helps us make decision quickly;
many other companies drag for long time before gave us an estimate, this is one
of the reason American Deck &Patio was chosen in the first place , plus
their good review on angieslist
"Thank you for the kind words. We appreciate your business and look forward to working with you again in the future. I hope you thoroughly enjoy the new Screen Rom and Deck for many years to come. Thank you for choosing American Deck and Patio."
"(removed member name), Thanks for your comments. I enjoyed working with you. I'm glad everything worked out well with Mike the welder. Thank you for choosing American Deck & Patio for your project."
"Thank you for choosing our services. Yes, a bit of a hiccup in that we didn't bring in enough of the railing product, which was a special order. We appreciate your understanding and always strive to see that we limit the setbacks in all of our projects. We are most happy that you are happy with the end result. We hope you enjoy our project for many years. Sincerely, Sean Conway, Owner"
That said, the only criticism is that after the job was done someone was supposedtocome back to cover some visible nail holes and that was never done..
I cannot overemphasize the professionalism of and care taken by Sean and his crew. I could not have asked for more. Sean came back one more time before we finalized plans to answer any remaining questions and make any changes, of which there were a couple.
The new deck is gorgeous and we all love it. I wouldnot hesitate to recommend American Deck to anybody.
"Thank you for the kind words. We appreciate your trust in our services. As far as those nail holes go, they WILL be addressed. Just an oversight as I had thought we had swung back through to get them. Thank you for the 'head's up'. I hope you thoroughly enjoy the new deck for many, many, many years. Thank you for choosing American Deck and Patio."
bolts. But the end product, the screen porch with an open deck is something my
husband and I are very proud of. We took at least four estimates before we contacted
Sean Conway at American Deck & Patio. His professionalism, his honesty, and his thorough
knowledge about the products and the process earned him the contract. I also
had the pleasure of working with Mia Conway, Sean?s wife, who is part of the
team and answered my questions and concerns on various occasions. From the beginning
till end, Sean was always accessible, was easy to work with, and customer satisfaction
was his top priority. In fact, there were some unforeseen obstacles when our deck
and screen porch were being built. But every time Sean explained to us as to
what was going on and how he was going to remedy it. When he was on site, he
took detailed note of everything and if something was not to his liking, his
crew had to dismantle it and do it again. It was comforting to know that Sean
would do the right thing and not cut corners. The project turned out to be
beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Jaime and his crew worked diligently to
finish the project on time in spite of the rain in May and June. Once they were
done, they cleaned up the backyard and there was no trace that they had worked in
there for almost two months. It was a wonderful experience working with Sean
Conway and his team at American Deck & Patio.
"Thank you for your very kind words. We did experience quite a few hiccups with your project and I appreciate your understanding throughout the process. Life throws us curve balls from time to time and the customers who understand that we are only human, and not infallible, are truly a joy to work with when the project gets a bit off track. In the end, your porch turned out to be a beautiful addition to your home. I hope you and your family have many, many, many enjoyable years on it. And thanks again for being so understanding. Sean Conway, owner."
Even though we didn't end up going with American Deck, I wanted to put in a good word for him. Sean is a really took the time to discuss the project as well as the materials, which I really appreciated. In the days leading up to us making our decision, Sean was responsive and very helpful answering questions about the quote.
If you're considering building a deck, I highly recommend you give Sean a chance to give you a quote!
"Thank you. We know we can't win them all and we appreciate your consideration. We are not a large company and our backlog of work on Project Calendar occasionally means we can't fulfill our customers wishes for completion. We do our best. Thanks again for your kind words."
"Thank you for the kind words. The 'double-decker' deck was a handful but we were all proud of the end result. It was a committed focused effort from our Project Foreman and his team to bring to fruition on what we discussed. I concur that your double-decks are a showcase, and we have been proudly sharing the photos since we completed the project. I hope you have many, many, many enjoyable years on the totally refurbished decks."
