I initially contacted Sean via phone. We had a very good and thorough conversation about several options through various price points that he had available before coming out for a site visit. This allowed me to consider and compare him to other quotes I had received from competing deck companies before scheduling time to meet face to face. Sean also made time to meet me during the weekend with short notice such that I did not have to take off time from work. Initially I had asked Sean for services to completely remove and build a brand new deck, which is a fairly large expense. After Sean saw the condition of my deck's "bones" he felt that there was a better solution that was less expensive and added more value to house. As mentioned, he gave several options and I decided on the option to place a engineered lumber support beam with additional posts that would not block the view of the below windows but yet still maintain the proper load requirements. Secondly, Sean replaced the top decking with a PVC capped composite deck. His crew did not need access to the house and therefore I did not need to be around while the deck was being built. Him and his team were detailed and provided high quality service on our deck repair and face lift.

"While other contractors has suggested a total tear-down and rebuild from the ground up, the substructure of this deck was still very solid. The deck was an ideal candidate for our 'Deck Refurbishment' approach where we beefed up the substructure, bringing the framing up to current code req's, and then added new 25 year-warranty pvc-capstock composite decking and a matching pvc-capstock composite top hand rail. We were happy to have saved you a significant amount of money while giving the deck a face lift. Thanks for choosing our services."

"This client is correct. She did contact our company and we didn't initially respond to her until we saw this post. Our business manager did then contact the customer and apologized for our oversight. We explained that her inquiry had 'fallen through the cracks' and we apologized. We make every effort to contact each and everyone that contacts our company. We're not a large company and it sometimes it can be difficult to field all the call-ins and inquiries we receive, especially in mid-March after our spring home shows and the glut of call-ins that come in at this time. Andy from American Deck and Patio was great to work with. He was very responsive and helpful in designing a deck we would be happy with. They used quality materials, and the craftmanship was excellent all around. Price was reasonable given the quality of work and Andy's team worked through tough conditions in a winter build. We couldn't be more p[leased with the results and are looking forward to many years with our new deck.

The whole transaction was excellent. I didn't go with the cheapest bid, for various reasons. So I won't say they are inexpensive, but I believe on some level you get what you pay for. All the interactions were very professional and comfortable. I got the quote ahead of time. He showed up at the right time for the appointment and worked with me on the design. They called ahead of the scheduled time for the work so I knew when they would arrive and they warned me appropriately about a big dumpster delivery. The work followed exactly as scheduled, the workers were very good. They went overboard by spreading the extra soil across my yard as I had told them I would do myself if they just left a pile. What great service! Everything was tidied up and the yard was cleaned up when they left. Nothing came up as an unexpected issue and the patio still looks great now about 6 months later!

Sean took his time with us from the beginning and really spent time getting to understand what we were looking for. He came up with great design ideas and helped up pick the right colors and shape for the patio. He kept us completely informed all along to way and the progress reports were very detailed. I would highly recommend them again.

I live in the west coast and wanted to help my elderly parents replace the wrap-around deck at their house. Suffice to say, it was quite a challenge to do the project from out-of-state. Anyways, I contacted 5 deck installers that I found on Angie's List. All were highly rated with great reviews. Sean from American Deck and Patio came out to my parent's house. After his initial visit, he immediately contacted me and made a number of valuable recommendations on how we should go about best constructing the new deck, and what would look best and how we'd be able to get the most benefit. Because of his candor, responsiveness in replying my emails and addressing my questions and concerns, I decided to have American Deck and Patio build my parent's new deck.
Once we signed the contract with American Deck and Patio, Sean worked patiently with us on providing the drawings and documentation to get formal approval on the project with our homeowners association. He took care of all of the permits, submitted all the required drawings, assisted with all the applications, etc. Sean made life about as easy as possible when
going through the initial phases of any project.
As with any large project, there were some delays, but primarily because of all the paper works that the homeowner association required. Sean worked with us every step of the way. After we finally got the approval from the association, American Deck and Patio started pretty much as scheduled. Sean and his wife Mia stayed in touch with me via email throughout the process updating me on the activities and schedule of their crew. Since I'm out-of-state, Sean even sent me photos to keep me posted on the progress of the project.

Andy Lombardo provided our initial estimate and worked with us as the primary contact throughout the job. We chose American Deck b/c their plan for the build seemed much simpler and more logical than two other contract groups that we talked with (we received a bid from one). Basically there are other options for building a screen porch at ground level (in terms of the base/foundation), and the other contractors seemed to take overly complex approaches.
Andy was very easy to work with from the beginning. He drew up a draft contract, which he revised after I consulted with him, and laid out the plans clearly. He and I talked regularly right before the project start, since we had ordered the door separately (and Andy was good about providing advice when we were trying to determine the specs for the door), and the work started basically right on time. Progress was good, although there were a few slowdowns for inspections, the screens to come in, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary. One thing I especially appreciated is right after I first talked with Andy, he checked on the necessary space needed between the wall of our house and the planned porch - since our electric meter is located there - and found out that a minimum clearance of 3 feet was needed. The other contractors didn't even consider this. The team finished the porch just a couple of days ago and Andy came almost immediately to inspect the team's work a final time before collecting payment.
One other note I would like to include - this porch was something I was more interested in having than my husband - thus I handled about 99% of the management of this job on our end. I have dealt with many professionals who have "talked down" to me as a female, and I really applaud Andy, and his team, for interacting with me professionally and in the same manner that I would expect that they would have treated my husband. All in all, a very easy contract experience, and we love the porch!

Andy from American Deck and Patio was a relief to work with after the first two quotes I received from other local contractors for our deck project, both of which were more expensive than American Deck and less transparent about what they were charging for. Andy was very professional from the start, took time to understand what I was looking for, and laid out the range of build options with a clear quote on the incremental cost of various options (e.g., type of decking, rails, add-ons).
When I first contacted American Deck, they warned me that they had a substantial backlog of projects and wouldn't be able to get to our project as soon as I had hoped. However, after talking to Andy, I decided it was worth the wait to get someone that I felt would do the job right and at at a fair price.
Ultimately, they started work roughly around when they initially estimated they would, and they completed our deck in a little over a week. We now have a beautiful new deck that I'm confident we will be able to enjoy for a very long time.

It went really well. The patio crew, in particular, worked very hard. The work came out beautifully and they made it all very easy. We made an adjustment on the size of the patio at the last minute and they were able to accomodate us. It was not the least expensive bid we received for the work but it was a fair price and the work came out really well. Overall professional job. They came when they said they would for estimates and follow-up and work was done on-time.

Outstanding. Andy L did a great job helping me in the design phase delivered on all his promises in a timely manner. I was also especially pleased with the lead carpenter (Joe McDonald). Joe was professional at all times and is an excellent carpenter. Joe was always punctual and made sure his team cleaned up after each days work.

We had 3 contractors give us their ideas and what it will cost. We did a lot of listening, but we
also wanted to be heard. American Deck and Patio, specifically Andy Lombardo, was the first contractor we met.
He was wonderful. He knew how to listen and give advice. Before he even left, he drew up a design plan incorporating our ideas. Here was a person that we could work with, and me having an engineering background, I could be very anal about details. In writing up the proposal Andy gave us options on how we could save money, or how we could add wow factor. We always felt comfortable with him, and we never felt pressured.
So now everything looks good on paper. So how was the execution? I couldn't be happier with the work they did.
With the paver patio I worked with Lenny, and the screened-in porch I worked with Joe McDonald. Both men were very
dedicated and took pride in their work. As in any construction project, there will always be minor issues that arise.
How these issues are handled is what separates a good company that does mediocre work to one that does exceptional work.

Sean and his team did a wonderful job on building our deck and patio project. In addition to the deck and patio he addressed future issues with drainage by running our drain lines out to the edge of our property so that we would have proper drainage going forward and used a much deeper than normal gravel bed for the patio to allow for drainage and stability during the rainy season.
The end product is safe, sturdy, attractive and exactly what we wanted. We definitely recommend American Deck and Patio to anyone wanting to build a deck or patio at a reasonable price.

They did great work and the price was very competitive. I was satisfied with the craftsmanship. Otherwise, they were professional and they've been in business for long time. They did the job by the book and didn't try to pull a trick on me. However, they didn't run the design by me. It was a basic deck, but they put the stairs not where I wanted them.

American Deck & Patio responded to our request for an estimate to replace our deck. In fact, their bid was the lowest we got. However, after speaking with Kirk, it turned out that the estimate they gave us did not include "removal of the old deck". Also did not include obtaining the plat information which was another $300. Although Kirk was professional and polite I found it a tiny bit deceitful to give an estimate not including removal of the old decking material?
Anyway, I'm sure they're a good company, but we decided to select someone else to do the work even though the price was a bit higher.

I loved working with this company! The person I worked with most directly was Kirk- who was so professional and likable. He really listened to the ideas we had about how to design our patio and worked with us on multiple drafts before we finalized the design. He delivered what he promised and rally stands behind the work. The project was completed on time and in the price that was quoted. I was very pleased.

Excellent work. Very professional and patient with my delays in making decisions about the materials and railing. Completed the job in very little time and cleaned up well. The only negative at all was that initially I had to call a couple of times before I received a call back. I'd recommend if that happens you call again. After that I received regular updates and fast responses to any questions I had. I have no reservations in recommending them. I'm very pleased with the deck and all my dealings with American Deck.

The new decks are beautiful. My one complaint was that the job took longer than promised because because sufficient materials weren't ordered at the beginning of the job. However, the delay was worth the finished product.

Sean spent a great deal of time on his first visit explaining pros and cons of the various brands and materials we were looking at. He knew we had had a very bad experience with the contractor and materials that were used the previous time so he took a lot of time explaining everything. we knew there might be some "surprises" when the foundation was uncovered and infant we did find that everything had rotted and rusted so had to be replaced.
That said, the only criticism is that after the job was done someone was supposedtocome back to cover some visible nail holes and that was never done..
I cannot overemphasize the professionalism of and care taken by Sean and his crew. I could not have asked for more. Sean came back one more time before we finalized plans to answer any remaining questions and make any changes, of which there were a couple.
The new deck is gorgeous and we all love it. I wouldnot hesitate to recommend American Deck to anybody.

The above process seemed really cut and dry and all nuts and
bolts. But the end product, the screen porch with an open deck is something my
husband and I are very proud of. We took at least four estimates before we contacted
Sean Conway at American Deck & Patio. His professionalism, his honesty, and his thorough
knowledge about the products and the process earned him the contract. I also
had the pleasure of working with Mia Conway, Sean?s wife, who is part of the

We had several companies give a quote on the deck project at our house in NW DC. The decision came down to American Deck and another company, who eventually ended up getting our business. All other aspects of the quotes being comparable, the deciding factor was that the other company was able to start the job within a week.
Even though we didn't end up going with American Deck, I wanted to put in a good word for him. Sean is a really took the time to discuss the project as well as the materials, which I really appreciated. In the days leading up to us making our decision, Sean was responsive and very helpful answering questions about the quote.

Sean and his project lead Ivan were great to work with, very responsive to our ideas and accommodating of our vision of the decks. Ivan had exceptional attention to detail and his workmanship is top quality. Sean delivered the deck as envisioned on time and pretty much within budget. I think we all learned how difficult it is to retro fit an existing support structure but the end product is really a show piece and we could not be happier with our new decks! I would recommend Sean and his team without reservation.
