"Thank you for the kind words. The 'double-decker' deck was a handful but we were all proud of the end result. It was a committed focused effort from our Project Foreman and his team to bring to fruition on what we discussed. I concur that your double-decks are a showcase, and we have been proudly sharing the photos since we completed the project. I hope you have many, many, many enjoyable years on the totally refurbished decks."
The other "A" reviews swayed me to hire American Deck and Patio and I was not disappointed. Andy Lombardo immediately responded to my inquiry, came to my home, discussed my options, made excellent suggestions and wrote up an estimate and diagram of the work on the spot. His recommendations were invaluable and made the project come together beautifully. Andy and his crew are very professional and the work done was high quality - it looks fabulous. I get lots of compliments. My friends look at it and say "Wow, who did this?"
So thank you Angie for your List.
And thanks to Andy and his crew - you did a terrific job!
"Thank you for your positive words. The fence and landing look very nice and enhances the view of your home from the street. We appreciate your business and your decision to choose our services."
experience with American Deck and Patio. We would definitely recommend them!!!
"Thanks for your kind words. We aim to make people happy and feel great about it when we do so! Sean Conway, Owner"
"This turned out to be an awesome project. We're happy you are pleased with it. It was a lot of effort on all of us to deliver on it. The carpenters and masons worked harmoniously to see that we delivered another 'home run'. Thanks again for the kind words. Sean Conway, Owner"
The only part of the experience that was less than perfect was that it was initially a bit difficult to get to hold of someone and schedule the estimate. The deadline wouldn't have been quite so tight had my first calls been returned promptly. I persisted because of the excellent reviews, and I'm glad I did; I would definitely use the company again.
The project started on-schedule. They had to demolish the old deck, add pavers stone for our patio,
and construct the deck to the specifications of the hot tub design. They even had to redo a part of it so that an inspector could check the depth of the buried electrical conduit.
Everyone at American Deck was very professional and courteous. They showed up on time each day, seemed to work all day long, and cleaned up every day before they left. Joe, the project manager was very pleasant, and always kept us up-to-date as the project
progressed. We only had one issue ? the electrician we thought we hired backed out, and we were in a bind. Andy was able to help us
secure another electrician ? who worked out great. (Note: American Deck does not do electrical work).
Overall, we were very pleased with their process and end product. Everything looks great - from the stone walls to the re-done screened-in porch to the stone patio to the beautiful deck with hot-tub. It all complements each other as well. We'd recommend American Deck and Patio to any of our friends and family who are considering deck work.
The project started on schedule and was completed within the estimated timeframe in spite of several weather delays. The project manager, Andy Lombard, and the American Deck crew were top notch. All permitting was taken care of efficiently and the work crew was friendly, experienced and proficient.
The only real down side was related to an electrical subcontractor who didn?t seem to have any regard for scheduling. On two separate incidents I had arranged to go in late or stay off work in order to provide access for the electrician only to have him not show ? very infuriating at the time ? but the electrical work was completed professionally and all is well.
As in any project, there were a few punch-list items that needed to be addressed toward the end of the project. All issues were quickly and satisfactorily rectified. When I asked about the finishing on one of the stair treads, they even added extra trim and bull-nose framing around the edge of the entire deck? at no additional cost. Andy was very responsive to all requests for information and status; although, I would have liked a bit of a more proactive approach, but that?s more me than him.
The end result is well crafted and has brought us a great deal of pleasure over the summer while entertaining guests; sitting, eating and drinking, without concern for rain or bugs. I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend American Deck to anyone looking for a quality product installed by a professional crew.
I would recommend American Deck to anyone.
Workers arrived promptly, and were consistently a pleasure to work with; they were diligent, careful, and clearly took pride in delivering an end result that would be beautiful and sturdy and durable.
We were impressed by the care taken in doing a job that has some very dusty aspects. Pavers must be shaped by saw, and sawing = DUST. Before beginning dusty work, we were reminded to close the windows of our back porch - which opens onto the backyard. I understood it would be dusty, but did not imagine the true meaning of dusty until that part of the work began. I am still grateful for the cleaning work I didn't have to do on my porch. In addition, shed surfaces were protected, and plants covered. It was a hot summer - but everyone worked steadily, and manners and voices were cheerful. Sean checked progress frequently.
As the final wood strips were placed on the pergola, we were disappointed at the appearance. There was too much space between them. We called Sean and he agreed. Additional strips were added without additional charge.
Now the work is done. The idea of adding pathway from porch door to the rest of the path was inspired! It gives meaningful shape to our whole back yard. It connects what needs to be connected, and sets off the open space - for my croquet court, or badminton court - with room for further development of plants adding color, texture, and design. Wisdom is gained by experience reflected upon - someone once said. On our patio or in our porch - we have just the places for reflection. And our grandchildren have wonderful places to play.
We
We look forward to calling on Sean at American Deck and Patio next year - to help us improve the appearance of the entrance area of our little house. Integrity, straight talk, high standard for quality of work, good design - we know where we can find it.
This was the first deck that my husband and I ever selected or had installed. Considering the number of options available was a bit like that feeling of walking into Home Depot for what you thought was just a nail, but find out means facing an entire aisle of choices. But, Sean was patient and helped us navigate the process. He sent us pictures of deck combinations used by other customers. He also responded to the myriad of questions that I had based on the design ideas discovered through a few internet searches. Ultimately, we chose ipe decking material, woodland brown railing system and iron pickets, plus a dry snap ceiling for under the deck. (yes, it was rather a deluxe package, but we have a small yard in the city and wanted to make it a signature feature of our house.)
Jaime was the project leader for our project. He was great . . . efficient, clean and a craftsman. We live in a rowhouse in DC without alley access. So, Jaime and his partner had to carry all of the materials through a coal alley, about 3 feet wide running behind our fence. Yet, he always left everything clean and organized at the end of the day, which helped to minimize any potential inconvenience to the our neighbors.
In exchange for a reduction in price, we agreed to allow the company to squeeze our relatively small project in between projects. Not including the expected delays due to the odd weather DC has been having this winter, as well as delays caused by having to order additional materials, the actual work on the project only took about five days. The following work was accomplished on separate days: demolishing preexisting flooring, rails and stairs; replacing rusted brackets on the joist and other foundational repairs; installing the decking materials and facade; installing the stairs, snap dry ;us drainage/gutter system, and insulation under the storage shed, and finishing the end of project check list. We were pleasantly surprised that the project was started and finished in such a short amount of time.
During the project, Sean stopped by twice to personally inspect the work. I initially was unhappy with the following aspects of the final project and/or had questions: 1) how the drainage from the dry snap ceiling looked; 2) there didn't appear to be a screen over the drainage or gutter, so wasn't sure if there was cause to be concern that critters might find a point of access into our home; and 3) there were bulges in the dry snap ceiling and some portions seemed to be separating from the ceiling. Sean came out to discuss the issues. At first he seemed a bit annoyed by my having raised any questions when all he wanted to do was receive the final installment and move on to the next project. But, everyone has a bad moment, and he recovered quickly and nicely by addressing my questions and offering a solution to the identified concerns. In fact, on the same day of our meeting, he requested that Jaime install a narrow wood lattice over the gutter, a screen over the downspout in the garden, and additional nails to secure the siding. (apparently the warm days may have caused the composite that had been installed on colder day to expand which sometimes requires makes the previous nails fly out).
Overall, we were and are extremely pleased with the end product and will definitely recommend Sean and his company to anyone in need of a new deck.
ON TIME
CLEAN WORK
VERY PROFESSIONAL
The only minor constructive feedback is that the crew had to move some things around in the course of the work and broke a hurricane candle holder and a thermometer and did not put the furniture back when they were finished. I am sure if I had told Sean about it he would have addressed it, but it was a petty concern and perhaps my fault for leaving glass outside during construction. Thermometer was a cheapie that fell off the post, so no big deal.
Sean was just a pleasure to deal with at every phase and I would highly recommend this company. Our patio under our deck is now like another room in our house and another place to entertain rain or shine. And we have a nice little waterproof storage area for firewood and tools.
