Academy Remodeling

Description of Work: They built up my basement after it had been demoed. The work was satisfactory but they told me I needed a dumpster for the work and I agreed and worked with my HOA to get approval. But what they didn't tell me was that they would be using my dumpster for all the other jobs in the area as well. So throughout the work I had their trucks showing up to dump other people's trash in the dumpster in the driveway. And when I told them to remove the dumpster it took a while for them to remove it.

Description of Work: I have used Academy Doors in the past and have had excellent service. This time I needed a new garage door opener to replace my 20 year old one. From the first phone call, the technician who came out for an estimate, George who did the work, came on time and the techs at the office who answered questions were all excellent. I have a double door garage. I bought the Liftmaster 3/4 HP garage door opener. Customer service and quality work are a lost art. These folks have it all.

Description of Work: Michael McNish, the owner, repaired the ceiling in my front porch that had remained unrepaired for many months since I had the leak from the roof repaird by another contractor who was unable to do carpentry work. The job remained undone due to me not being able to find a handyman whom I felt comfortable in giving the work to. The ceiling is not a simple, flat one, and I also needed the rafters above the area to be repaired to be evaluated for rot from the old leak. When I saw Mr. McNish's advertisement in my kids' school listserve, I had to give him a try. Just being in the Listserve is a testament to a contractor's work being good as only those contractors whom other parents have used can be nominated to be included in such a listserve. Also, Mr. McNish is a graduate from the United States Naval Academy. I am a graduate from West Point and know the value of the training and ethics one receives from our outstanding service academies! He did a fantastic job, was very professional and had a very fair price! He has a vast amount of knowledge in many areas that one would expect a handyman to be proficient in. Not only would I use him again, I have him as our local Fire Department's list to call for handyman service jobs and I have used his painter for a large job in and around my house! Definitely a great handyman for all your handyman needs!!!
