Sila Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it turned out fine. We liked the firm and they seemed to be very thorough. This is the second time we have had them, actually, and we had the same guy each time so I felt like we had some continuity there as well. The guy who came out seemed really competent and knowledgeable. He also seemed pretty straightforward and honest. I can't really complain about much of anything.

It went very smoothly; the price was right on the estimate and i the A/C unit performed well during the summer.

The tune-up went well and gave me peace of mind that my system will hold up for a while longer. The service man gave me a heads up that I should plan on replacing the 30+ year old system in the near future. That, I felt, was good advice.

It didn't work out as I had hoped. They rightly claimed that the furnace needed to be completely replaced and thus didn't install the thermostat. Ultimately, this meant that I had overpaid for the Big Deal since part of the work couldn't be completed. Aside from this, however, it was easy getting in touch, they arrived on schedule, and they acted professionally when dealing with me.

They do a great job. Oscar was very prompt and is definitely an ace! He was very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. He was very forthcoming with information! I will be calling to request Oscar again for my A/C check up in the spring! I would recommend their services.

I purchased the Big Deal, and they did all the required work and more. I am a new homeowner, and the technician, Joey, took the time to explain everything he was doing and showed me how my boiler works and how to operate it. I was very happy with the service I received.

It went very well. They were punctual, kept everything clean and neat and performed the services as promised and expected. we just engaged them on an annual service contract. so far so good!

The service worked out very well, and they did a very good job. I was happy with the service person, he knew different parts and aspects of the boiler system. The price was pretty reasonable.

So far, so good. We woke up this morning to a 25-year-old gas-fueled forced-air heating system that wasn't working. I found Sila via Angie's list and gave them a call. Fortunately, they had just had a cancellation of an appointment and were able to send a tech to our home within about 30 minutes. He showed up and diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes. He was able to get our system working again temporarily by jiggling some wires. The visit/work cost us $98. We're now awaiting an estimate for the cost of replacing our current system's control board and will also be getting an estimate for full system replacement, which we've known for years would be necessary any day. I'll post another review once we decide to do as a long-term fix.

Purchased a Big Deal for a tune up, but the company never got in touch with us to schedule. So we had the deal refunded by Angie's List.

I bought the warranty service good for a year. This company has been Great and I would never consider using any other servicing company

The price was ridiculous. We had a loose connection with our damper vent cable (the company replaced the damper last year, but because it was 13 months ago, it was no longer under warranty). I told them when I called what the problem was. $98 for them to come out and diagnose the issue. $370 to replace the cable. I asked how much the part was. They refused to tell me, saying it was against their policy to itemize parts and labor (I think this is unprofessional and the source for their F for professionalism). The part retails for $42 online (i checked the SKU to confirm it was the same part). It took the tech 30 minutes to install. So labor for 30 minutes = $328. We've been customers of this company for 2 years and have been pleased with their service up to now. But I just feel ripped off now. We'll find someone else to maintain and repair our boiler.

The heating in my apartment had stopped working. Called and spoke to Jonathan, who was extremely professional and pleasant, and scheduled me for the day and time I requested (he also called me the day of the appointment in advance of the service call). Oscar, who came to fix my heating, was superb. He diagnosed the problem quickly (blown fuse), and had the necessary replacement fuse on hand. He even put on shoe coverings before entering my apt (he said they do this as a regular practice). I had lots of questions about my heating system (electric), such as how it works and what I could do to have a more efficient heating system (e.g., replace my thermostat, get a surge arrester). He answered every question in detail and in a way that I, as a complete novice, could understand, which I greatly appreciate. He also suggested other repairs/upgrades, but was not at all pushy or salesman-like about it, he simply laid out the options.

It was okay. The guy came out shortly after I purchased the big deal and there were no additional charges on top of the deal. I did not have a lot of confidence in the technician who came. I got the impression that they are a large company and I have had better experiences with smaller companies because they seem to have more accountability. I would not use them again. It was the first time that I used them. It was not that the guy was terrible, it was just that a few months after he was there, I had some problems because the gas line was not tightened properly and I cannot say that it was his fault, but I got the inspection to make sure that I would not have those kinds of problems and I just feel bad for the technician. He did not inspire competence but he was nice. He was not horrible. It was just that I take care of a lot of houses and I have worked with a lot of service providers and I knew them pretty well. He was having a bad day but he did what he said that he was going to do. He was also late.

That was great. Sila Heating & Air Conditioning came out to do a service call on my furnace and they alerted me to some problems, but they went ahead and they advice me, they did kind of a cleaning and service check up on my furnace, they said, “you know” it was probably going to go bad in a little while, go ahead and get a carbon monoxide detector, so rather than trying to oversell me upfront, they just kind of advised me to monitor it and soon enough come December the furnace started making loud chiming noises and going bad and that's actually the company I used to replace the furnace and my air conditioners. From the onset, they were timely, I found them informative, knowledgeable, skilled and didn't feel pressured by the company at all and I will tell you, my furnace went out like three days before Christmas vacation and they managed to come in and replace the unit in time, so I had heat through the holiday, when it got really cold everything was done and already replaced, so I couldn't be happier with Sila Heating & Cooling. They came out in January after the holidays and did the rest of the work on the air conditioner. They are expensive but they are good.

They did a very good. The gentleman who came knew what he was doing and gave me some good recommendations. He was very reliable and I felt that anyone could use him and he would do a good job for them as well. He was also very friendly, honest and respectable.

The service person was very polite and knowledgeable. would definitely use them again!

Oscar was very professional, extremely educated on the system, friendly and helpful. He explained all of the inner workings of the system to me and pointed out all of the ways the heat and ac could be more efficient and save money. Oscar also educated me on the way that systems have changed and improved becoming more cost efficient when I have to replace my current system. I have never been so pleased with a service/ maintenance professional as I was with Oscar. He was very personable and it was extremely refreshing not to be talked down to about mechanics just because I am a female. I am seriously considering getting a maintenance plan and will request Oscar in the future.

Oscar did a wonderful job. He was patient, thorough, professional, and dedicated. I asked him questions and he answered clearly, and didn't tell me more than I wanted to know, but just enough. I asked him to show me how to clean the filter myself, and even though it was more work for him, he pulled out the filter for a second time and demonstrated patiently and clearly exactly how to clean it myself. I really appreciated it! I will use Sila for my annual maintenance from now on. Even better, they were not expensive at all!

Joey Jordan came out and assessed the problem with our furnace. It needed a part and he told us it would be in on Wed. late and he would be back on Thurs. which he did. He was running late (no wonder with this weather) but he kept us apprised of arrival time after he finished each stop so we were not waiting and wondering. He was very efficient and polite. We will definitely use them again. Thanks Angies list for having such good people in your list.

Sila was great. Came out promptly at my convenience. Showed up in the 2 hour window they promised. Customer service (Johnathon) and the technician (Joey) were both very friendly, courteous, and professional. Joey quickly identified the problem and had the appropriate part in the truck so it was fixed in no time at all.

I called SILA the morning of a major problem. My heater broke down in this frigid weather and they were at my home in less than two hours. Oscar, my technician, gave me an estimate but went further in explaining what went wrong and how the system is supposed to work. He is very knowledgeable and I was impressed! Jonathan and Heather were very professional and courteous on the phone, again impressed. Ultimately I am going to work with my homeowner's insurance since it will basically be free but if they give me issues or bad service I will revert to SILA. The only issue had was I think $155 for an estimate was a little steep, and that was with a $30 coupon.
