Sila Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

Sila sent out a technician, that was on time, and very friendly. He couldn't inspect the A/C unit that day for reasons having to do with the house (a raccoon in the attic!), so I can't speak to their level of service. But I can tell you he was professional and their prices were competitive.

Sila performed annual maintenance, which was fine. The technician was knowledgeable and pointed out issues that would require follow up work. These issues were things like installing a water safety and putting the condensate pump in a pan with a water safety. While these items are seemingly basic and routine, I was quoted hundreds of dollars. Either the markup of the parts was enormous--these parts cost at most $50 online--or the estimated time to do the work was way too long. However it was impossible to know the basis of the quote because I was informed that Sila uses flat rate pricing. So I chose Polar Bear, another A-rated company, to do the work for 30% less. Polar Bear doesn't use flat rate pricing, but rather charges based on the amount of time the work takes, and does not mark up the parts. For example: Sila wanted to charge me $279 for putting my existing condensate pump in a pan with a float safety, while Polar Bear charged me $80 for a brand new condensate pump! Flat rate pricing just doesn't work for small things like this--either that or Sila really inflates its flat rate prices. In short, I have the impression that Sila uses the annual maintenance as a way to drum up business, thinking that customers will not bother to shop around.

We purchased the $89 boiler check through Angies List and Sila promptly came out to service it. Everything supposedly was fine and then magically our boiler broke the next week! Sila came back out to see what was wrong and their technician told us that a couple of parts needed to be ordered and then installed. He told us to order the parts ourselves online and even gave us the parts numbers because they have such a high mark up on their parts. He told us to call back when they got the parts in and then they would only charge for the labor. Well, we called back, only to be told they had fired that technician and now instituted a policy against installing parts obtained from other sources! When we explained the situation and asked that they make an exception because it was their own employee that told us to order them, they refused. Do you want to do business with a company that doesn't honor their own employee's mistakes? I certainly don't.

They were very helpful and seemed knowledgeable, pleasant, and professional.

It was okay. I did not spend more than the Big Deal price.

The work was done as planned and without issue. However, the quote called for a half day of work to complete the install but it was completed in less than 2 hours. After being billed for the full amount I called and it was reduced based on the hours incurred. This spring when I was down in my crawl space I found they never took the old air return duck work with them and just left. So while they did a good job at a fair price the initial over billing and the lack of clean up on the job site would make it unlikely I would use them again for future service.

The technician came right on time. He performed the tune up swiftly but came down at the end to tell me of some areas for concern he had with the unit. We had just moved in and had been told that the furnace was near end of life but did not need to be replaced. The technician told me I did not have to go with his company but to please have someone come and check on the unit because it had not been installed properly all those years ago (25) and he was concerned for our safety. I thanked him and did have a second opinion but in the end went with Sila to replace my furnace because the tech had been so forthcoming and took the time (over 15 minutes) to explain all the issues so I could understand exactly what the issue was. And luckily he was the one who came back on the install!

The service does not include all of southern PG county. The staff was friendly and apologized for the incorrect service area being listed on Angie's list.

Overall service was outstanding. Punctuality, communication and professionalism were above expectation. I especially liked their ongoing communication before and during the service and their follow-up communication. I was really very impressed with this company and would definitely use their service again in the future. Five stars. Thank you for a job well done.

A plus company. Excellent customer service. I would highly recommend this company. The sales representative was knowledgeable about the system and also gave me some suggestions to consider.This company is considerate of the inside of your home before the installers enter your home they put on shoes booties.The installers were neat .and professional. No cigarette and telephone breaks.After the installation a technician came out walked me thru the system. I was nice and cool all summer.

Went well. Work performed. Workman on-time, answered questions, professional.

OK, but very little feedback as to how the furnaces were operating.

The technician showed up early and was very professional. It was evident that the units had not been serviced regularly by the previous owner, but he was upfront about what worked and what didn't, and about how long we have left on each unit. He found one issue that he recommended a fix for at several price points - premium, basic, and economy. A little bit of a hard sell at first, but backed off whenI said I wasn't ready to make that decision. He was very efficient, clearly knew what he was doing, and left me feeling confident in our equipment.

It was easy to schedule an appointment with Sila and they were on time. They came, looked at the furnace for maybe 20 minutes, and said he couldn't fix it. They didn't explain much of anything and I had to ask them to give me an estimate. They gave a very rough estimate and left. It wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have to pay the $98.

It went well. The service personnel were friendly and knowledgeable, cleaned up thoroughly after the work.

It was fine, but we didn't feel like we actually learned anything from it. Maybe we didn’t know what to expect for that amount of money, but we didn’t feel that we got new information or valuable feedback. Our furnace had problems soon after they came out and we would expect that they would have been able to spot whatever that issue was before it happened. In the end, it didn’t save us future hassle. On a positive note, they were easy to work with though.

My experience was fine. Scheduling was fine. There was one technician here doing the work and it took less than an hour to complete.

They came on time, were professional and I didn't find any issues. They were honest, they weren't trying to fix things that weren't there I suppose. Everything is working okay. The appointment was easy to set up and the person that came was professional and explained what he did. There was timely service, he did make an appointment and professionalism.

Sila's repair estimate was high. Used another company and saved $70

They diagnosed a bad thermostat and replaced it, but missed several other huge problems with the system which later cost us thousands of dollars. They said up front they didn't know a lot about this particular boiler - they should have just said, "we can't do this" and refunded our money. They get a C for professionalism but I obviously needed someone with a different skillset.

They showed up on time and the repair went well.

That turned out very well. One technician came out and he did have come back due to a HVAC problem. They were professional and everything worked out very well.
