Sila Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

It was fantastic. I gave actually been using Sila for a couple years. For the past two years they have sent the same tech which is really nice. Jose has been out for both summer and winter checks and he is wonderful. Service was top notch. Jose answered all of my questions and was on time and courteous. He really is a great asset. I highly recommend.

I made an appointment with the front office to have an estimate for a complete new system. Brentin, the estimator, showed up on time to check the old system, check my requirements and needs in order to give a quote. He was professional, knowledgeable and very courteous. I received an estimate via e-mail a couple of days later. I liked the fact that he quoted four levels of service and equipment: plain vanilla, silver, gold and platinum. Their shop uses Lennox equipment almost exclusively, which was fine with me as they get very good reviews. We also asked for a quote on a tankless water heater and a Mitsubishi ductless unit for the third floor. We live in a three-story rowhouse and the cooling is not great on the third floor during scorching summer heat, so we went for the ductless unit. We decided not to replace the outdoor condenser at this time, but will most likely do so by the end of the year. We decided for the gold plan with the tankless water heater and the ductless Mitsubishi unit. We went back and forth a few times, but we finally agreed on the equipment and start date. I was a nervous wreck as this work was done parallel to a kitchen renovation. Three guys showed up on the first day and took out the old equipment. It was done with military precision, I did not even see them carry the junk out. We live in a high security area but somehow they managed to remove the junk with no problems. On the first day they also installed the tankless water heater. On the second appointment, they installed the ductless unit on the third floor. Again, impressive performance and ability to adjust to unexpected conditions. You never know what you find in 120 year old houses. Somehow they managed to bring cables from the third floor, under the house and through the crawl space to the electric panel on the first floor with minimum disruption. They were tidy, fast and extremely skilled. On the next appointment, they installed everything else with the same precision and skill, totally effortless. Mike the Foreman watched like a hawk to make sure that everything was done properly. And it was done very well. I am happy with the work and I would recommend them for a big job to anyone who asked.

After some initial hiccup with responsiveness, their service was great. I got a detailed estimate with options. Guys that came for install (Mike and Marco) were professional and helpful. New system has been great. November update: They were super responsive to AC issue, no charge.

This company lost my appointment, wrote down the next one for a different day than they told me, tech showed up outside the service window, office did not call me as promised to schedule a follow up appointment and never returned my call regarding an urgent matter. When I gave up on getting a call back and called them, the earliest they could schedule me for a return visit was a week out-- 4 days AFTER the tech told us he needed to be back to check his work from the previous week. I guess this company is too popular and busy to provide decent customer service and handle its scheduling properly. I cannot deal with them anymore and called a different company, at an additional cost to me. But if this other company actually manages to show up when promised and fix my system, it will be worth it.

Great service--I learned a lot about our air conditioning unit from this visit, which I appreciate.

I have a high-efficiency boiler, which caused a problem because the technician was not completely familiar with how these types of boilers work. For example, he wasn't aware that the boiler has a sensor on the outside that checks the current outdoor temperature before signaling the boiler to fire up. This lack of knowledge added extra time to the maintenance task because the tech could not initially figure out why the boiler was not turning on (it was about 60 degrees outside and the ambient temperature inside my home was warmer). But, he took the time to review the documentation in order to figure out what happened. This is why I give the company an overall score of B because I feel like they should have trained their technicians on the operation of normal and high-efficiency boilers.

We had Sila out this past winter when our furnace stopped working. They were able to restore its function temporarily, but it needed to be replaced. This was not a surprise to us since the unit was 21 years old, and we had been expecting to need to replace it since we moved in. We were surprised it lasted as long as it did. We decided to replace the furnace, AC, and water heater, all of which were on their last legs, all at once. It was a close contest between Sila and another company, but for various reasons we chose the other company to do the work. I wish we had given it to Sila instead. After an odyssey of frustration with our new water heater, we had Sila out to look at it. In a half an hour they diagnosed what three plumbers from the other company couldn't or wouldn't investigate over the course of four visits. After Sila assessed the problem and found that the gas valve was not working properly, we had it replaced under warranty. Sila's representatives have always been extremely friendly, courteous, and professional. I intend to talk to them about servicing my system going forward.

I contacted Sila Heating and Air Conditioning to see if they worked on my specific units. While they did not, they were very prompt and polite in their response, which was appreciated after getting blown off by several other companies. I would recommend them based on their professionalism alone.

It went well. I was a little sticker shocked from the price. I might be a little old school, and I know there are new regulations in place, but the price surprised me. Otherwise everything went well, and it was a good experience.

Purchased an Angie's List coupon. Scheduled furnace service. They came out and cleaned the furnace and it functioned well the rest of the winter.

I did not use their service ultimately. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

They have prompt service, they explain what they're doing, and very detailed. They're actually pretty clean, they put on their shoe covers when they come in and out. They're always very friendly, respectful, courteous, and they take their time to explain exactly so you don't have to wonder or guess.

Joey, Technician, arrived at our home on time and went to work. Kept me informed each step of the way in a professional but friendly manner. Gave a very thorough inspection inside and out. The system was working fine and did not discover any issues. Did his job and went on his way.

I will not be contacting these guys for quote in the future. I requested a quote from Sila to replace a condenser and air handler on my small condo. Wow, their price was astronomical! Their price was almost double of what other service providers offered. They insisted that it was a custom job -- and thus it was very expensive. (Whatever -- all HVAC work is a custom job and the condo was less than 600 square feet.) Their price of $8300 to replace a condenser and air handler on a small condo was simply outrageous. The person I met with was professional and on time. But, when I told them -- as I tell every provider -- that he was the first to give me a quote, he took this as an opportunity to suggest an outrageous price. I was silently shocked and I didn't believe the price when it was mentioned. I had to get it in writing, which I did. Wow! Shocking. They also didn't want to finish the job -- saying that I would need to find someone else to do any related drywall repairs. What? Other other companies that I got quotes from all did drywall repairs as part of the service. I want the job 100% completed, not 90% completed. " **Installation may require cutting into ceiling area. Drywall patching is not included in this proposal** "

Felt the deal was misleading and feel like it needs to be more clear. Cancelled and went with a different company.

Perfect. The tech was punctual, pleasant and professional. Arrived when expected, performed the tune-up as expected, talked to me a bit about the unit and what the tune-up consisted of. I was very pleased.

Sila sent Vince (HVAC Specialist) to our home today to trouble-shoot an AC issue. Vince was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. He arrived on time and was very professional. I would highly recommend Sila and Vince to other Angie's List Customers.

The service provider was very friendly and professional. He performed the service, and explained some very helpful information about our furnace, its history, and how we should maintain it in the future. While the service provider was very helpful, I'm not sure what the tangible benefit of the service actually was.

From the initial evaluation and estimate to the post-installment attention everyone at Sila was top-notch. Brentin visited with us, reviewed the options, and outlined the system. His attention to detail reassured us they Sila was attuned to the ascetics of the house and were designing the system to best condition the home - and we got the proposal within 24 hours (as opposed to the competing contractor would hadn't finished the estimate more than a week later). Cheung and the other installers were efficient, proficient and exceptionally tidy! But for the progress in installing the system, you couldn't tell that they had been here at the end of each work day. They showed up promptly, and completed the work ahead of schedule. And when it appeared that the work at fried our pre-existing thermostat, Sila dispatched a tech to review and replace it. While the price may have been slightly more than alternatives, we feel we completely got our money's worth! The quality of the work, responsiveness, and attention to detail were superior. We highly recommend them

The service was excellent!!

I called Sila to resolve a problem that I was having with my heat pumps, after another Angie?s list highly recommended provider had service them. Sila has serviced my two heat pump units three year in a row. I have been pleased with their service. However, this year I opted for an Angie?s list big deal that would theoretically save me $100.00 for a pre-summer inspection. That was a big mistake! After the other service company serviced my units, my house filled up with a mildew smell. My wife and grandkid, who were visiting for Spring Break, had to abandon the house. They were having an allergic reaction to the mold/mildew smell. They spent wo days in a hotel, while I aired out the house.. I called Sila on April 10, 2015 and requested a technician, Julio, who had serviced my units two years in a roll. I was impressed with diagnostic abilities and his ability to explain different solutions and their associated benefits versus costs. Julio arrived April 14, 2015, promptly at 12:00 and I explained my problems to him. He assured me that he would carefully break down each system and discern the problem. To summarize, Julio did an excellent job of play detective and isolating the problem. Out of abundance of caution and concern for my family health. He spent two hours braking down the heat pumps and checking with their manufacturers. True to form he provided me with a list of options and their associated cost versus benefits. We mutually agreed upon a course of action and he tweaked each unit. His recommendation worked and the family has returned to our home. I want to commend Julio for his attention to detail and concern for my family well being.
