I paid $79.for a deal with this provider. Company never called me. I called Angie's list customer service about this 4 days ago and discussed problem. I still have not heard from Sila. I am seriously annoyed. I have paid my service fee upfront and have not received anything. This is not the way to run a business. What is the problem here?

Sila's office personnel and the technician were professional, polite, understanding, and helpful. They were able to get the repairs scheduled for the next day. Sila called to let me know the technician was on the way, and he was punctual. He was flexible and patiently creative in getting to my A/C condenser on the roof. He was very knowledgeable and explained information about my HVAC system that I wasn't aware of. If everyone ran their company like Sila, life would be much easier. If I could give them an A+, I would.

I asked that if it could be bent and reset. He said that it could not be done and the part had to be replaced. They did not make this part any more. So, the only way we could do this was to find a used cover of the air conditioner. It was not old enough to be replaced. He never got back to me. My husband and I went out re-bent and adjusted it. It worked again there was nothing wrong with it. I felt that he was not really honest about it. It did not sound right to me. He did not make an effort to bend it up and fix it. In the end he recommend that we'd have to buy a new one probably.
Description of Work: I got a deal for Sila Heating & Air Conditioning. They came out to look at our air conditioner. It had been hit by the top of a tree branch.

Joey came out to figure out why mini duct system not cooling, discovered it was a fuse gone bad visit was 20 minutes. Joey is great and is professional and knows his "stuff". I was a little disappointed that the rate was not fully spelled out to me when I placed the service call. I specifically ask what is the rate to have him come out and trouble shoot. Was told $98, apparently that is the price to have him knock on the door then the clock starts ticking, so $175 for under 30 minute visit and without having to fix the issue shocked me. THe front office currently "working" with me to try to make this right as I've been a loyal customer for 7 plus years.

Dave came out, was a gentleman, and actually shared with me a lot of what he was doing and a few small things I can unscrew to check the status of my system, especially since it is an older system. My only complaint is that they couldn't come out same day - had the problem Monday and they came out Wednesday.

We called Sila on 4/14 about replacing our outdoor AC unit, which has stopped working at least once or twice each of the past two summers due to a coolant leak, and we knew we wanted to replace it this spring. Chris, a sales person, came out on 4/23. Our impression of him overall was good, and he was really pushing that we install a new gas line in our ceiling for the different coolant the new AC unit would use. He also offered that a technician could come out for a walk through to make sure there would be no surprises the day of the replacement. After a reminder he sent a proposal on 4/28, which was more expensive than others we received. However, based on our impression of Chris and the company we decided to go with them. We contacted Chris a month later, on 5/25 saying we wanted to move forward with the work and wanted to schedule the technician walk-through. He said they could come out on 5/29 or 6/1 and he would confirm later. We did not hear from him. My husband and I both emailed and called him over the next two weeks, and got no response. On 6/4 I called Sila, explained the situation, and I was assured that Chris or someone else would call me back the next day, which no one did. On 6/8 I called Chris one more time, he answered, and when I pointed out that we had been waiting for two weeks to hear from him he did not apologize and vaguely blamed the company saying they were supposed to cover for him while he was not working. He said they could come out that evening between 5 and 5:30. I called at 5:40 when they hadn't arrived and he said it would be another hour. During the walk through the technician said replacing the line wasn't necessary, they could just flush the current line. We agreed for the work to be done 6/16 at 7:30 am. Again I had to remind Chris to send the revised proposal, and the revision was only $200 cheaper than the original proposal, which I found surprising. On 6/15 in the afternoon, I got a call from Sila saying they had an emergency and would not be able to come out the next day as planned, but could come on Wednesday. After the two weeks of silence from Chris, and not hearing back from the company when I called, this was the final straw. We had made arrangements for our baby to be out of the house on Tuesday for the duration of the estimated 6-7 hour job, and those plans could not be switched to Wednesday. I spoke to Sila and Chris and neither offered any solution to accommodate us as originally planned (and at this point with the 90+ degree heat I have my fingers crossed every day that the AC won't break) so we decided not to work with them. I immediately called another company that I had received a quote from, they came out the next day, installed the new AC in 4.5 hours with no hassle and no fuss, and for cheaper than Sila quoted. Over all the experience with Sila was mediocre and disappointing, and I'm still not sure why we kept giving them so many chances.

Great customer service and rep were very professional. After not getting a call back with a quote to fix the problem after 3 business days, I called them back. The rep was great and said he'd call me right back with a quote. A few minutes later he called back with the quote of $975 to replace the condenser fan motor, which included two hours of labor. I educated him that I could buy a replacement motor for less than $200, and he said that their fee included their overhead. I said I'd find a better price and ended up doing it myself--$208 for the motor (which included price of 2-day shipping) and less than two hours of my time to install. Others quoted the replacement closer to $500, so Sila was definitely the highest price. They were also the most professional.
Description of Work: Checked air conditioner that was blowing warm air. Diagnosed a bad condenser fan motor, which matched my diagnosis. Said they would call back with a quote for replacing the motor. I called them back 3 business days later to get a quote.

I would rank Sila A++++. I called at 7:32 tonight about a broken ac unit. Vince B called me back in 2 minutes. He spent the next 20 minutes trying to locate an on-call tech (keeping me informed throughout). At 7:50 he told me he would be coming to fix it himself. Vince left my house at 8:45! The place was already cooling off nicely. He provided exemplary customer service with a smile. I will definitely use them again.

Our air conditioning system was running and pumping out air; however, it wasn't cool air. Of course, this happened on a Friday night in the midst of pretty miserable wave of heat and humidity. I called Sila Saturday morning and was put in contact with Vince. He was extremely helpful and kind over the phone and assured me that when he would be able to come by and help me out later in the day. He was true to his word, and upon his arrival assessed the problem (capacitor was fried) and quickly had cool air coming out of our vents. Thank you Vince for polite and professional service. It was a breath of fresh air in more ways than one!

It went well I got the coupon for the $79 deal that was for the 20-Point Air-Conditioning Tune-Up Including Up To 1 lb. of Refrigerant which was helpful as I was missing about 2.6 lbs of R410 Freon. The Tech Jose was very helpful in explaining the situation and how to keep my system working properly. I have also sign a service contract with them so I can continue working with them.

Time flies when you're having fun. When you're not, when a loved one is slowly loosing ground and one is making constant rounds of hospitals and nursing homes, it simply blurs. So when I was asked when our ducts were last cleaned, I said a couple of years when in reality it had been perhaps twice as long. I purchased a Deal for duct cleaning and was able to make an appointment for a few days later. Two guys arrived at the designated time, no introductions other than 'I'm here to clean the ducts.' They went right to work, I went back to work cleaning out a bedroom that had become a storage room over the past few years. After awhile, the guy taking the lead asked when the ducts were last cleaned. The look of disbelief on his face was striking. So was his bald statement that the ducts were "filthy". Not a guy to sugarcoat anything! He then proceeded to recommend a course of action to thoroughly clean and sanitize the ducts. With the homeowner's consent, they got to work. The two men were efficient, professionally polite, and competent. There was a marked difference in the quality of air before and after their visit. Putting a house back together after years of caregiving takes a remarkably long time; catching up on tasks can be slow. I'm glad Sila was available to check off from our To Do list the greater-than-realized need to get those ducts cleaned.

Last week, my A/C suddenly went dead. It was moving air but the air was not being chilled. After reading the reviews here, I decided I'd contact Sila to schedule an appointment. It was after normal business hours, so I used a form on their website to initiate the process. The next day, I followed up with a phone call to the company. I spoke with Jonathan and I was pleasantly surprised by how professional and peppy Jonathan was. I started the conversation by mentioning that I had filled out their online form. I then worked with Jonathan to schedule a time; one week out was the earliest appointment available. As I was supplying him my personal information, my cell phone reception dropped out and I lost the call. I was frantic to get back on the line and to finish the process to reserve that time slot. I was having trouble re-connecting, so I paused for a minute, and within that time Jonathan had searched through their website form information to collection the remaining information. He left a voicemail to tell me that he had found the required information and to confirm the appointment time. WHEN DOES THAT EVER HAPPEN?! Since it's most often the case, I just assumed I'd be waiting in the queue again and get someone else and have to start the whole process from scratch. One week later. Vince was my technician and arrived smack-dab in the middle of the two-hour service window. Vince was a soft spoken and personable guy. He was very professional and politely laughed at my corny jokes inspired by my broken AC unit and sweltering home: Close the door before all this cold air gets out! He worked efficiently to identify the problem. It was a broken capacitor within the compressor. He had the part in his truck and he quickly scrambled up a ladder to replace it. He took some time to tell me a bit about my system and provided some honest and worthwhile advice. I would ask for him again by name in the future. Some other reviews I've read knocked this company on their prices for parts. I would just remind people that the fee that covers just the tech coming out is pretty modest and could not possibly pay for all the people behind the scenes that made this service so streamlined and hassle free. My time is my most valuable asset and they really came through in that regard.

I hate to write a negative review for a no-show because I know things come up and sometimes appointments are cancelled, BUT this happened two times with this company. On 5/28 we had an appointment between 4-5 pm and they called and cancelled around 2pm. We rescheduled for June 5, 4-5 pm and they called and cancelled at 3:53pm the day of the appointment. This company seems to have good reviews, so I guess the lesson learned is to make early morning appointments to help avoid the afternoon 'emergencies' their estimators seem to run into which prevent them from making afternoon appointments.
Description of Work: Nothing, but they were supposed to provide an estimate for a new mini-split ductless A/C system.

They told me that it was broken, and that it would be $5,500 to replace the system. I had another company come out and do an inspection, and it ended up being just a fuse that they replaced on the spot for no charge.

The technician came earlier than actual appointment time. He checked the AC unit in basement, clean the drain and replaced the filter. He also checked the outside unit, check coolant level and voltage and clean the coil. He was good, through and answered evey question I asked. Additionally, I told him recently I felt the air flow from A/C vent became weaken in 2nd floor while the AC is running and he tried to fix that problem by adjusting damper and check the blow motor. He finally found that the blow motor leaked oil. He told me it might not be failed immediately but recommended to replace the blow motor because he thought that's the reason why the air flow became reduced. He also gave me a ballpark number for the motor-replacing quote around $700~800. Of course, I have to double-check, but It was really nice for him to try to find the answer of my problem. [Updated]. I had the second opinion for the blower motor oil leakage from another service company and received a similar diagnosis - blower motor was leaking oil, may be the source of weakened-air flow but not a immediate threat. However, the quote for replacing motor from this 2nd company was ~$200 cheaper than Sila's quote. Overall, as long as you want to check/diagnose HVAC system, I think Sila is good choice.
