Sila Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

The process from scheduling to the actual service was smooth and quick. I originally requested an air conditioning tune-up, but with no hassle at all Sila allowed me to switch services. They also allowed me to add humidifier maintenance service. Service tech arrived on time, and even said that my humidifier was in such great shape there was no need to charge for the maintenance service. The tech was very professional and very understanding of and accommodating to my dog, who insists on sniffing all our guests. I'll definitely use Sila for future services.

Went really well. They were just a tiny bit pricier than the other estimate but these guys were incredibly professional, and high quality. They saved us from unseasonably warm May weather, installed the split system with zero mess left behind, even sent a roofer by at no additional cost later on in the week to ensure they didn't cause a leak with the venting of the split unit. Talk about going the extra mile. So appreciative of this kind of high quality work. Have already referred friends looking to get rid of window units.

I bought a big deal for this. They were very good. The actually honored the $59 tune up for four different sets of things. They applied the deal four times. They really bent over backwards.

Within 2 days, the entire unit broke. They came back out, said it was some other part, and fixed that and it broke again within a week. It was an incredibly old unit and the hottest part of summer, so I can't just blame them. It was bound to die out eventually. But service seemed to begin rolling that ball downhill. They were very nice about offering each new service we would need, such as installing a new A/C unit, but at that point we decided to switch providers.

Once I purchased the Angie's List deal, Sila Heating and Air Conditioning contacted me by email immediately, to set up a service date. I later spoke with a pleasant and helpful young man whose name I think was Jonathan, and quickly had an ideal service day and time arranged. On that day, technician Jose A. arrived precisely on time, which is a BIG plus to me. He was polite and pleasant. He confirmed the purpose of his service call, put booties on, and got right to work. Jose explained what he was doing and answered questions well. He finished his work promptly, and left the area as clean as before he arrived. This is a young man who certainly could be trusted with other and larger jobs. I would definitely contact Sila Heating and Air Conditioning to do work for me in future.

No work was preformed. I met with three different companies about purchasing a new boiler. Silia's salesman was the most educated. I learned a lot from the salesman about what I needed and what different boilers can do. I didn't use Silia, despite the excellent experience, because they were $2,500 above the other two reps.

Excellent. I was able to schedule an appointment for someone to come to my home within two days. They arrived at the time they said they would ; explained the repairs that needed to be made (fortunately, fairly minor), serviced both units and provided good information about the current condition of both. I would highly recommend this company,.

He did very good; he said everything was clear. I was just having it checked out because I’d been running it for two years and wanted to have it checked. He also looked at the heating as well as the air conditioning and let me know that the heating needed a new filter.

HE explained my system to me - we moved in recently. He also recommended maintenance to help maintain system. Very personable and informative.

The service provided, Jose, was on time, and he provided very good service. He explained the issues and proposed the options. He was quick and cleaned up after the work. Overall, my experience was great.

Very well. Responsive to all my questions. Team came right on time along with supervisor and finished as scheduled. Left the work area neat. I had some concern about a noise for which they came back for inspection right away, and it turned out there was no problem at all. I recommend them without hesitation. My one issue at the end was that they had me write a check instead of using a credit card. They insisted that they were giving me a good deal and that there would be a surcharge if a credit card were to be used. They ought to be disclosing these issues at the very beginning although one could argue I should have ascertained this.

The service provider was pleasant and professional during the course of his service. He did a full drainage of my hot water heater and then thoroughly checked it out to make sure it was working properly. It didn't take him very long to provide the service and I was very pleased to have it done so inexpensively. Based on this, I would recommend this service provider for future work.

Great service. I had used SILAS in the past for work on our furnace. AC unit stopped refrigerating recently and so I called them to check it out. Josh was awesome! He showed up promptly, answered all my questions, gave advice as to how to proceed with maintenance and care of the AC unit. Explained how the price was calculated (apparently refrigerant is being phased out, so prices are going up as supplies are decreasing) and was very clear. It's refreshing to have a service provider walk you through the repair and maintenance and give sensible recommendations. I highly recommend using SILAS.

Provider came on the same day I called, at the scheduled time. They gave me a call when the technician was on his way so that I didn't have to wait at home during a 4-hour window. The technician was very courteous, informative, and efficient. The problem turned out to be a relatively easy fix, and he didn't try to sell any other service.

Driver was a little late (30 minutes) but was quick to call and apologize. The work he did was great, which was the most important thing. he was very friendly and answered all of my questions. all told i was very impressed with the work they preformed and would use them again.

The technician was extremely polite and professional. He arrived on time and took care to answer all of my questions. He attempted to replace my filter but did not have the right size in his truck. He walked me through each specific step I needed to take to keep my A/C in good shape. Would definitely hire them again.

Joey arrived shortly after 8, and proceeded to examine the furnace and two ac units. The furnace appeared to be in good order, with a possible leak that was not active at the moment. Joey explained all the parts and functions of the furnace in a clear and professional manner., He then checked the ac temperatures, examined the internal structures and the external equipment. Again he explained how the ac worked and what he was checking. The only thing that was problematic was the filter system, and based on his recommendation, I ordered a replacement, to be installed next week.. I asked Joey to look into a couple of radiators that either had no or faulty valves. He explained that this would involve draining the system, which could take 2-3 hours (unfortunately that would be charged time even if nothing else could be done), and then working on each radiator separately. He could not give a clear estimate for the labor involved, since this would depend on how hard it would be to dismantle the old parts from the radiators. He measured the valve sizes needed. I told him I would think about doing this. There are two radiators that definitely need repair, and possibly -- but not certainly -- a few more.

Jose A. came out from Sila Heating and AC. He was very courteous and friendly. We would definitely use Sila again and have already referred them to our friends.

While the serviceman was late, the dispatch called to notify me, so no worries. Things happen. The serviceman was very professional (taking shoes off before entering the house), explained everything he was doing, and found that for a 15+ year old system, it was doing fine (holding refrigerant, etc.). He told me the signs to look out for when my system was starting to fail and would need replacement. The mere fact that the technician inspected a 15+ year old system and didn't try to sell me a new system is testament to the honesty of their service. I'm sold.

1st issue: the salesman did not inform me up front that they would not accept full payment by credit card! I had paid 1/3 of the cost by cc before installation, per the contract. When I brought out the card to pay the remainder after the installation, the salesman told me they would only take cash/check. He finally agreed to allow me to pay 1/2 of the 2/3 amount still owed via cc but having to provide the cash was an unexpected hardship. 2nd issue: I have never written a letter to a business before, but did send a letter to the Sila manager and to Rheem 6 weeks after installation. The main points: --- Although this is a variable speed system and a dual-stage compressor, when the A/C is on it blows extremely cold air at a high speed, regardless of the fan setting (auto, on, low, medium, high) & the thermostat setting. Current state-of-the-art systems are described (even by the Sila installers & service manager!) as cooling ?low & slow?. It is very uncomfortable to be within 6 ft of a vent when this system is cooling. --- The air filter housing now sits in a slot cut into the return duct leading to the air handler housing. There is no cover and it leaves space for unfiltered air to be drawn into the air handler, so I am concerned about this affecting the life of the blower, as well as the dust/pollen that continues to be circulated through the house. Sila initially responded to my letter, sending a service manager and tech who promised to find a solution to the cooling issue and to set up closed housing for the filter. They followed up in October by taking measurements of the system function for Rheem. Then, nothing. I followed up with the service manager via email in December, who replied by email that he was waiting for a response from Rheem, & with the manager in January, who replied they would be in touch. They have not contacted me since. I have found a way to deal with the icy wind it generates by keeping the vents closed: the only way I have found to maintain comfort is to close all the diverters on the main floor of the townhouse. The air filter housing remains a problem; I have cut my hand removing the filter (which gets tangled in the raw metal edges & ends up torn apart in the process of removal ? also probably not good for the air handler). So: I believe that the installation was good (with the exception of the air filter housing). I suspect the system is operating within Rheem's specs (I am only guessing). They never followed up with me to address my issues with the quality of the system; I paid a state-of-the-art price for something akin to cheap icy hotel a/c. Essentially it seems they hoped I would just let it drop... Which I guess I have -

My husband and I recently purchased an older home (1934) with radiator heat. I've never lived in a home with radiators before and knew next to nothing about how they work... until Jose arrived. Jose showed up promptly at the appointment time with a smile on his face, and put on shoe covers before entering to protect my carpet. He taught me about how the system works, how to read the pressure gauge and temperature gauges, what settings he recommended for the unit, and how to add water to the system if the pressure is low. He also went over basic troubleshooting concepts and when to call for assitance. Jose then cleaned and serviced the boiler and left the work area cleaner than he found it. I was happy to hear that the unit is in great shape for being 50 years old and no components needed to be repaired or replaced at this time (whew!). I was really impressed with Jose's level of knowledge and his ability to explain it to non-handy types such as myself. I would definitely recommend Jose and Sila Heating and Air Conditioning.
