Sila installed a dual-zone hi-velocity Air Conditioning system in my Victorian Townhome in DC a number of years ago. The installation was, bar none, the most amazing Contractor experience I have ever had! The installers were extremely knowledgeable and professional, cleaning up at the end of each day and familiarized me on the system and its proper operation. I signed up for their Maintenance Contract, which provided seamless support of the system. Rachael in Customer Service has been particularly helpful over the years with providing priority service for any issues. It's such a pleasure to do business with a Company that treats you like family! Without any reservations, I have wholeheartedly referred them to a number of my friends and associates - who also echo their endorsements that this company provided the best Contractor experience they'd ever had!

In my observation it was clear he took pride in his work. He too was kind, patient and professional. I used Sila Heating Cooling and Plumbing service a few weeks ago because my HVAC system was giving me trouble. This was during the start of the heat wave and for some reason outside unit/condenser unit stopped working. The Inside unit was still working/blowing, but the condenser did not work. I called up Sila and they were able to send someone out right away. There was a program deal, so the charge to send someone out to inspect the problem was reduced to $79.00. Tyler Brawner was the technician they send out to inspect my unit. He not only found the issue, which was a worn out capacitor that needed to be replace. He clean the unit, and checked on my inside unit to make sure it was cooling properly. Tyler was a great tech who was transparent enough too discussed and guided me through everything he was doing, and provide me with some at home maintenance tips for my system. It’s about one month now and the unit is running as normal. Everything all together cost $313.37, I will definitely use their company again, check back with them close to winter to inspect the heating portion of the system.

I spent about $2,500 for repairs to my central air conditioner that failed days after the work was completed. The senior repair technician came to my home and later gave me an estimate for more than $10,00 in repairs. He was rude to my wife and rude to me. He also told me what he was not going to do, such as replacing only the compressor that he said was bad. The next day another company came out and charged me $108 service charge and $20 for a fuse replacement. The unit has been working like new till now, about 2 months later.

I recently had my heater inspected and I’m deeply upset by how Sila service provided for me. The first day Sila inspected my heater and charged me 99 dollar. But the next day, my thermostat stopped working, so I have to asked the same technician to my house to change one heater box. But the third day, my heater stopped working again, and the water was all over the floor. I called SILA for the whole day on Saturday, even someone picked up my call said someone will come, but nobody actually showed up for the whole day. The forth day luckily some SILA technician came and found out the previous installation of pipe is too wide so the water leaked. I was so regret that I hired SILA to inspect my heater, which I spent almost 500 dollar for unnecessary service. I will not recommend anyone to use SILA service.

I have been struggling with subtle leak for nearly a year. I hired Sila and Roger Amaker recommended a company that quickly identified the leak using American Leak Detector. Once the leak was identified, Roger returned to replace the faulty mechanical joint press with a much better joint connector and also replaced PRV from the main water feed. HE DOES EXCELLENT WORK!! He is professional and extremely competent. I would definitely hire him again!!!

I called Silva with an emergency. Not only did I lose cooling during an intense heatwave but my wife was at the hospital having surgery the same day. The staff of Silva understood ( Ramsay) and altered staffing to send Tony within two hours. A wonderfully pleasant young man he explained my options and we quickly agreed on a new system. The very next morning a large crew arrived and fully installed two new systems in one day The on-site staff was pleasant courteous and highly skilled. This was the best experience I have ever had with a HVAC contractor

I recently had my A/c repaired and I’m deeply upset by how Sila treated me, with dishonesty and simple greed, especially since I’m a longtime customer. Sila actually installed my mini split system in 2012 and I hired them for maintenance checkups in the past. I hired them again for maintenance in May. The tech came out and diagnosed a faulty control board. Sila’s rep quoted me a price of 592 for parts and labor, against which the $98 fee I’d already been charged would be applied. Their rep, Ramsey, also told me on multiple occasions that the part, which cost $292, was covered by the 10 year warranty that applies when a certified installer installed the system. All of the phone calls are recorded so these commitments can easily be verified. So I would only be responsible for labor, which was to be charged at $300! per the estimate. Amazingly, the tech took less than an hour to install the control board and do all the subsequent testing. To add insult to injury, Sila then proceeded to charge me for everything — $300 labor plus the part! When I reminded them of the multiple times I’d been assured the part was covered by warranty, Ramsey claimed ignorance. I would NEVER have had them do the repair if I’d known this. I mean, how dishonest and greedy can you get? Sad thing is, as a longtime customer of Sila, I know that my A/c system, now nearly 10 years old, will need to be replaced eventually. But seeing how they mistreat their loyal customers, I’ll be sure to go elsewhere when that time comes.

We had another great experience with Sila today. We called because of a possible HVAC leak into our neighbor's apartment. Our call was answered quickly and we were immediately scheduled for the same day. Communication from the office was seamless and very professional. Our tech arrived right on time and was thorough, helpful, and kind. No issues were detected with our unit and yet the tech still took time to answer our questions and walk us through some basic maintenance tips. We were relieved to not need any work done today, but we will certainly call Sila the next time we do. Thanks to Ramsey in the office for handling our call!

Roberto was sent out after our original technician was behind schedule. Roberto was great. He cleaned the system and provided helpful suggestions on how to keep our old 15 year system running (more than just swapping air filters every 3 months). He also did not try to upsell us

I chose Sila for an existing Unico system upgrade with some return rework for sound and new supply lines for a newly-remodeled room. From research, I gathered that they’re a high-volume Unico service vendor. Sila completed the job quoted in the initial proposal but it took 3 months, 5 visits, and I personally found and fixed the final issue myself. There were five objective mistakes. One issue was a misunderstanding between the salesman and me. I’ll take the blame for that. The other four issues were purely technical. The Unico system is fairly simple but the installers forgot to install the heater component, installed the wrong motor, ordered the wrong parts and figured it out at my house, then finally set up the motor with the wrong software settings forcing it to run at full throttle. I had to frequently call the office or email them directly to attain schedule status. I escalated my concerns to Evan. He was happy to continue offering help but didn’t seem to have empathy that the job was 3 months late. I felt that he saw the job as a success. As a consumer, schedule is one measurement of success and I accepted a high-priced estimate (30% over competitors) because I felt they would complete the work in one week. I trust these guys are great for servicing contracts and hot fixes when you’re in a jam but if you need a true project executed on time like a full system upgrade, I’d research other Unico installers. 1 star for execution, 1 star for teaching me a lesson

Tony was prompt, polite, and and thorough in his diagnostic and repair of our HVAC system. He effectively fixed the recurring issue and offered a number of common sense options to address, including replacing a decades-old thermostat, which we did and have been very pleased with the results. Tony also took extra care to thoroughly clean his workspaces — something appreciated at all times but especially during the pandemic.

Excellent service by Bob, very thorough and professional and provided helpful insights and recommendations without trying to upcharge at all. Genuine good service by a professionals who are good at what they do and trained fittingly for the job at hand. Thanks!

Got the Furnace tune up deal for Sila through Angie's List for $59 and scheduled appt less than 7 days, very smooth process. Technician was 3 min early. So I will just state the facts here and leave out the emotion. The tune up deals from Sila states: "Furnace tune-up includes: heat exchanger inspection; blower system; electrical components; ignition components; safety device inspection; checking gas pressure; flue connector inspection; temperature rise; filtration inspection; gas components inspection; combustion air inspection; condensate inspection; thermostat inspection; duct and piping inspection; checking overall system efficiency" What was definitely NOT done on list stated above was 1) Checking gas pressure and 2) Combustion air inspection. When I ask the technician Nate, about checking these items, his response was "Both tools were stolen and the company has not given him a replacement yet". Therefore no Manometer (tool to check gas pressure and pressure switch) or no Gas Combustion Analyzer to measure flue gas oxygen, carbon monoxide, stack temperature, and draft...AKA the bad gas levels. Technician didn't call for help for someone to deliver or assist him in the matter. A third thing to add is that Nate did NOT properly check the capacitor for the blower motor. The process was not done with the wires still connected to the capacitor when he did a meter test. Every furnace tune up I had said the capacitor should be disconnected to test. Also you can google how to properly test a capacitor as well to verify. Besides the 3 mention items, which are all important, not getting checked, Nate did perform the other items on the list. So Would I hire again....wish there was a 3rd option of maybe, but for now it is NOT a convincing yes. One guy who used to check my furnace made a statement when I felt cheated about a previous tune up compared to all the items he check and explained and found a failing capacitor I might add said this "A company is a good as its techs and 1 lazy tech says more about the tech which can be inferred to the company...AKA 1 bad apple in the bunch spoils the rest."
