Ultimately, the technician performed a multi-point inspection and cleaning of the existing unit -- but was unable to determine a problem. Taking a look at the heat exchanger was not covered. This was determined to be the problem by another company. |

Description of Work: repaired damaged wire, replaced fuse which blew when wire shorted out, technician explained the problem and solution; very pleased with his expertise.

Description of Work: Sila did a great job of conducting fall maintenance ($180 for two) of my furnace and that of my tenant. They identified that my furnace had a crack in the exchange which could have put me at risk of carbon monoxide fumes and they placed a "danger" tag on it. The next day they sent out a salesman who was very knowledgeable about furnaces and helped me understand the current inventory of furnaces and which features are available. What I found disconcerting, however, is that he tried to also sell me an air conditioner, too. I decided to buy the furnace from another company because they came in, assessed the same problem and offer several varieties without all of the hype.

Description of Work: Flushed and checked water heater. Determined that water heater temp. sensor was burned out and needed to be replaced. Installed new temp. sensor.

Description of Work: Sila performed a 21-Point Boiler Clean and Check, with a discounted price provided by Angie's List. The Pressure Reducing Valve was broken and needed replacement. The price quoted for the part and replacement process was very high. The technician did not test the PX Tank and did not mention the addition of an overflow w/cutoff that was needed to bring the furnace up to spec. I called our plumber of 25 yrs. The price for the replacement of the Pressure Reducing Valve was 2/3 of Sila's quoted cost. And he brought the system up to spec.

Description of Work: The representative came on time and performed the task professionally. He hooked up a rubber pipe between my water heater and sump and drained the water. Then he filled water in the tank and checked to make sure it worked.

Description of Work: They cleaned the furnace and said that it needed an upgrade. The work was sufficient and professionally executed.

Description of Work: I bought a new hot water heater in 12/08, but had never flushed the unit. (My previous water heater had lasted more than 30 years before needing emergency replacement. And, I had never flushed that unit.) The Angie's List Big Deal was a bargain, and I decided to flush my current water heater, as a preventative measure. Jose (from Sila) was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. He described the procedure and performed the work. There was no sediment buildup, even after 6 years. He also tested the elements and recommended lowering the water temperature to save some money on my electric bill. I accepted his advice and haven't noticed a major difference in hot water temperature. And, I'll keep tabs on my monthly electric usage to determine whether any savings, indeed, accrue.

He was extremely thorough, cleaned and examined the unit, and was very professional. | |Happily, the heater is now quiet and heating well. This was money well spent, and we will definitely use them again for our heating needs.

Description of Work: Replaced my ac and gas furnace. The salesman was knowledgeable, willing to spend time to ensure that I understood the options available to me and patient while I did my homework and got bids from several other companies. Once I signed the contract they were able to schedule installation promptly. The two installers arrived on time and proved themselves be professional and hard working. They were happy to answer all my questions completely, worked quietly and competently and cleaned up thoroughly before they left. I was extremely satisfied with their service and would recommend them gladly.

Description of Work: The sales person was very helpful and worked with us to find the right price for our needs. We were amazed by the speed and professionalism of the contractor who installed our forced-air AC - they finished in four days with minimal disruption to my house. I didn't need to be there, and when I came home at the end of the day it didn't look like my house had been gutted. Instead, everything was clean and organized. It wasn't a slipshod job at all - they placed every vent so that it looked neat and centered in every spot. Very happy with this provider.
