I was skeptical about another local company's proposed solution to my hvac problem, so I called Sila. John T answered the phone and was exceptionally helpful and I agreed to have Sila do the work. They performed the work the next day. They were knowledgeable, professional, prompt, and reasonable. Absolutely everything I could've hoped for.

The technician (Joey) was very friendly, professional and did an excellent job servicing the furnace. He also checked the CO2 level in the house as well as around the water heater for us.

Overall, it went very well. Mike was incredibly thorough, prompt, and friendly. He put on shoe covers to protect our floors, explained what he was doing, and gave me advice on how best to maintain our system year-around. He also advised on what kinds of filters we should purchase (hint: the $1 ones work just fine). I was very pleased with his service and that of his company.

Unlike other companies in the past, Sila allowed me to forward the purchased coupon to my tenant and she set up the appointment herself. They contacted me to confirm the request by my tenant quickly. My tenant set up the appointment and reported that their work was professional and thorough. The technician reported that my heating system was a good order with years of life ahed for it. They did not try to sell more services at that time because they were honest about the condition of the equipment. I contacted the company subsequently and plan on using them next year for my personal property. Thanks Sila!

The tech who came out is named Mike. I was extremely impressed with him, as I had been with the company when I called to schedule the appointment. The tech was honest, straightforward and thorough. Even though my system is old, he told me that it works fine and he wouldn't replace it if it was in his home. Another vendor had tried to force me to buy a new system, and had been trying to sell me a system since they were there to work on the A/C last summer. I HIGHLY recommend this company. Thank you Angie's List for listing their offer and introducing them to me. If I do eventually need to buy a new system, I will seriously consider this company.

The technician was prompt, friendly, immediately put on booties and went about his business. My furnace is old, but functional, and several times previous inspectors have urged me to get a new furnace. So I was very appreciative that this gentleman, while acknowledging that the furnace was old, did Not do so. I was very pleased.

They were very flexible and did a great job for us.

I was particularly pleased with the fact that Sila called me to make the appointment so that I didn't have to remember to do it. The service personnel arrived at the scheduled time and were very polite and considerate, even covered their shoes when they came in the house. They explained what they were doing and answered all my questions. Since then I have recommended the company to a friend who consequently recommended them to another friend.

I saw the big deal for a 21 point furnace inspection for $69 from Sila in my e-mail. My husband and I woke up on a Saturday morning and realized our furnace wasn't working properly. I bought the deal and called the number. The recording said that they were open Monday through Friday. I called again and pressed the number for emergencies. Someone called me back within the hour and they came a few hours later. They found that the fuse had burned out, did the inspection and we had heat again!! I would definitely use their services again.

Joey J arrived within the window provided - he put on booties to protect our wooden floors in our DC home. I have had a lot of contractors in and out for a construction project and you very rarely see this being done - thank you! Joey was spectacular with the issue of our boiler system and definitely knew exactly what he needed to do to get the job done. Due to a carbon monoxide issue we had the day before, he checked, cleaned and fixed any issues with the two components that might be causing the issue and went above and beyond to educate us on our boiler system (new to us) and took the extra step to bleed our radiators and show us how. After a carbon monoxide scare the previous day, we feel Joey took care of us and ensured us we do not have a Carbon Monoxide issue looming. Thank you Joey! You were great - we need more of you in the world.

Lovely! I bought the deal about a week ago, and a day later received an e-mail from Sila about scheduling. I called yesterday afternoon, and the office set my appointment for this morning (Saturday!) between 9-11. Mike, the technician showed up exactly at 9. He put on shoe covers to protect our rugs and was careful around our kids (4 & 1). He explained everything he did, assessed the overall health of our system, and made recommendations about how to maintain it. This wasn't the cheapest furnace service deal I've seen, but I chose Sila because of their reviews on Angie's List. I'm glad I did - it could not have been more convenient and Mike was fantastic. I am definitely thinking about getting a service contract with this company. Great work!

the technician was prompt on time very professional. He answered my questions. He told me what filter to get for my furnace. He also recommended how often I should change them. He came in and put on the protective booties so he would not track anything into my home. I appreciated that very much 4.

The technician (Joey, I believe) was extremely professional and courteous and explained my system to me in great detail. I would recommend them in the future.

Joey was great! He was very knowledgeable. I recently purchased my home and wanted to get the furnace inspected as the unit is 18 years old. He showed me where the filter was located inside the unit! (I was unaware that it could be there!) He demonstrated how to cut the power to the unit, take off the cover, and remove the filter. Needless to say, the filter was filthy! He had been here years ago and remembered that the previous owner purchased a permanent filter. He found it in the basement and showed me how to use it. At my request, he even drew the arrows on the unit to help me remember which way the filter should be installed. He inspected an alternate filter that I had set up per the home inspector when we thought there was no filter in the basement unit. He demonstrated how to program my PEPCO thermostat as I didn't realize that I had that option. He programmed both of my thermostats. He identified that I had a heat pump in my attic and explained that I could pay an extra fee for that service, but no pressure. :) Joey was very patient and took his time explaining everything to me.

I was pleased with the entire experience. I would use them again.

This operation was pleasant from inception to delivery of service. I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for winter 21 point furnace inspection. Got the certificate as promised via email. Called Sila H/AC was assisted in making an appointment that was perfect for my schedule and available within a couple of days. Even though I did hear back from anyone the tech (Joey) showed up within the appointed window of service and went straight to work. While my furnace was fairly new he still took the time to make all the checks and made minor adjustments to bring my furnace up to par and ready for the cold winter months ahead. I will be sure to make this company my first choice for future service needs. Thanks Sila

I previously got a quote from Sila for AC installation, and thought I'd have them tune up our old boiler while we decide on which company to use for the AC. Our boiler is original to the house (its almost 90 years old) and we just moved in, so we thought we should have it looked at before we start it up for fall/winter. We know that it works - we just had a home inspection and saw that the furnace and all radiators were working as they should be. To be honest, one of the reasons we chose to have the tune up was to show us how to start it, as we weren't familiar with the set up! I told the lady on the phone how old the boiler was. The engineer that came out was Joey; as other reviewers have commented, he was a really nice guy. Unfortunately, he had never seen a furnace as old as ours, and couldn't figure out how to start it! I showed him what I know of its operation, but ultimately left it to him, being that this is his profession, to figure it out. I told him that we realize it'll need to be replaced at some stage, but having just bought a house, and with a string of essential work to be done, it wasn't a priority this winter. He made some calls to his boss (I think he spent more time outside on the phone than actually looking at the furnace), but apparently nobody at the company was familiar with older radiator systems. So, he declared it non-operational and asked if I'd like a quote for a new one! They told me I should contact Angie's List for a refund, which I did. That evening my husband and I decided to take a look at it ourselves. A quick google told us the pilot was manual, so we located that (which took a while as we'd never looked at a furnace before), lit it, and had a warm house within half an hour! I'm shocked if they truly couldn't figure that out when we were able to, and this is their area of expertise.

I highly recommend this company to anybody. The technician was Joey. He was friendly, answered all my questions, explained and showed me how to clean my filter. He was a really nice, sweet guy. Joey did an excellent job and he deserves a raise! I will keep this company for the future. I rate this company very high.

Our experience with SILA is probably been the best we?ve ever had with a contractor for any sort of job. The very small crawl space in our 74 year-old home made it doubtful that the high velocity Spacepak system would fit in it. We were reconciled to going with a plan B, one that involved mounting the unit over a staircase and building an enclosure around the system later. Much to our delight Chang, the very gifted installer, found a creative solution to the space problem and the Spacepak unit is nestled in the crawl space after all. Neil Huber, the sales person, and Chang and Chin, the installers, could not have been more professional or pleasant to work with. They were punctual, answered every question beforehand, clearly explained options and choices, and best of all treated our home with great respect. Chang and Chin are master craftsmen, and their experience and understanding of the business showed in everything they did. At the end of each workday, the install team left no mess, no footprint, and practically no sign that they had even been there. Our house was clean of any dust or debris produced by their work. The job was finished on time and there were no surprises in the final bill. The system works beautifully, as advertised, and we couldn?t be happier to say goodbye to window AC units after all these years. SILA was a joy to work with. I recommend the company with no reservations.

I had a very positive experience throughout the bid process with SILA and was all set to follow-through with an A/C install when we found out that our apartment could not sustain the electricity needed to support the A/C (through one of John's recommended electricians). I did want to take the time to comment on this company despite not being able to actually install as I was thoroughly impressed by their professionalism, responsiveness, knowledge and understanding. I solicited a bid in May or so from a number of companies and SILA stood out from the pack. Not only did John take time to actually measure my apartment to ensure the load estimate was accurate (and it was off in 2 others), but he also walked me through what he was doing and why it was important (even if it was slightly above my head). He also came back in person to submit his bid, walk me through it (compared to others who emailed me a one-pager or just gave me a quote via the phone), and hand me a huge list of people I could call for referrals- including several happy customers in my neighborhood. John was incredibly responsive and patient as I went through the process of getting approval from my co-op board. He even took the time to come back and walk my parents through the estimate and his plan for the install and truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable with the approach. Unfortunately we learned that our apartment could not sustain the electricity needed to support the A/C system (and it might blow out our box!) but we were really impressed by John's understanding of this issue and his professional and warm demeanor throughout every step of the process. Should our electrical situation change, or should I move to another apartment in need of A/C, SILA would be the first company I would call. I would highly recommend them for anyone in the market for air conditioning.
