+ -1 moreI took advantage of a Big Deal for a 21-point Furnace Tune-Up. Our system is about 5 years old. The rep was punctual and thorough. He gave me very good information about my HVAC system - both my furnace and my AC. He even showed me how to replace my humidifier filter and said it would be less expensive if I did it myself. I was so impressed, I signed up for an annual service contract with the company that was very reasonable @ $385 per year (less if you sign up for multiple years). They even discounted the amount I had paid for the HVAC inspection ($69) for the first year. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: 21-Point Furnace Tune-Up @ $69 (normally $149): 1. Calibrate & level thermostat 2. Inspect for combustible material around furnace 3. Test ignition system for safe and proper operation 4. Test duct system for carbon monoxide 5. Test exhaust system for proper venting 6. Measure temperature difference supply/return 7. Test safety and control circuits for proper operation 8. Inspect and adjust fan belt tension (if applicable) 9. Clean existing filter 10. Lubricate & clean blower motor air vents 11. Brush clean burners 12. Check burners and heat exchangers for wear 13. Visually inspect heat exchangers for wear and cracks 14. Clean & test thermocouple for proper operation 15. Description of Work: Identified himself with ID, explainedd each thing he did. Gentleman made suggestions about purchasing a filter for the furnace. Performed exactly what the Angies List ad said he woud do. i did not have to pay anything. my experience with Sila was excellent. Although my furnace was in good shape, if something was wrong I would not hesitate to call them again.

They told me that the humidifier was shot and too old to find repair parts for. I later ordered a new one from them, which they installed on very short notice with equal professionalism as the first visit. I'd certainly use them again.

+ -1 moreThey performed the service ordered "furnace tune up" but they only spent about 15 minutes on each unit as opposed the the 1-hour 21-point service list I was told when placing the order. They were unable to determine the cause of short cycling in one of the units but they performed the furnace tune up.

He was fine with our over exuberant puppy who jumped all over him when he came in the yard! I would recommend Sila Heating to anyone who needs HVAC work from now on.

Description of Work: Service technician arrived exactally at time stated by the office staff, was very polite and performed diagnositcs on the heating system that was not working x1 day. Afterwards fixing the situation we called for, he pointed out a potential problem should be fixed at our discretion and took the time to discuss it with my husband on the phone.

+ -1 moreThe service guy that came was on time and did the 21 point inspection and cleaning. They cleaned the inside of the Natural Gas Furnace and during the process noticed that there was a crack in the heat exchanger. He then told me he could have his boss come out and give me some options as far as replacing the heat exchanger or replacing the whole furnace. A few days later his boss came out and found out that my heat exchanger was still under warranty. They could get the part and only charge for labor. Labor is expensive but I got a second quote and the price was the same. I only went with a different company because they told me about the next part that would probably go on the furnace and they replaced it free of charge.

+ -1 moreThis was for a $69 for 21-Point Boiler Clean and Check Angie's List Big Deal. The technician convinced us to purchase a service plan and fixed the leaking radiator at no extra charge. He said that the thermostat didn't need any special wiring to be web enabled, just insert a part that came with the thermostat, but that's not the case. The only problem was with the release valve on the furnace. He said it was fine but sure enough after he left the bucket we had under the pipe that drips water because the leaky release valve started dripping again. Since it's covered under the service agreement I called to schedule them to come back out and they were responsive but it was around the time Hurricane Sandy hit so we put it off. I still need to call to schedule them to come back out to take care of that problem but I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Performed a 21-Point Boiler Clean and Check, and give estimate for fixing leaking radiator, release valve, and wiring thermostat so can be controlled via web.

+ -1 moreJoey arrived the day and time of the appointment. He introduced himself to me and proceeded to cover his shoes before entering my home. I took him down to my utility room and he looked over the unit, asked me about how old it was and said the unit looked pretty good. He then proceeded to take the front door off so that he could see how everythig was working. I watched him brush dirt and dust frrom all over the inside of the unit and then vacuum to suck it all out. After a while I just sat down and stayed out of his way. After he finished, I felt he had done a really good job. I would recommend Sila Heating & Air Conditioning to all my family and friends.

+ -1 moreInitially I took advantage of one of Angie's special deals- $69 for a 21 point inspection of our main heating unit - in preparation for the cold wintry days ahead. - we were quite impressed with the friendliness and effort displayed by the technician that was sent out to do the inspection. - after completing the inspection I asked him if he wouldn't mind checking out our sunroom's heat pump that seemed not to be working very well. - after assessing the problems associated with the unit We came to a consensus that a new unit would be needed. -I did research online pertaining to options and prices available. -called Sila for a price, and agreed on a particular unit that would meet the needs of our room.
Description of Work: Sila installed a Mitsubishi electric heat pump unit.. I was quite impressed with Sila's representative John. He was very knowledgeable on products available that would suit our needs. He was very friendly, non-pushy, and very easy to talk to. The crew that installed the unit was very efficient and neat . Their pride and and work ethic were quite impressive. Overall my experience was quite pleasant . I would definitely recommend Sila as a very reputable heating and air conditioning company to handle any issues or concerns one may have with the comfort levels of your house.

Description of Work: Had an Angie's List coupon for a tune-up, but before I could get Sila out here, my furnace started making bizarre noises. When the guy came to do the tune-up, he diagnosed the problem as a busted spring and coupling; later I was quoted a repair cost of $334. I thought I'd try my local plumber before I went ahead and paid that, but when they got here, they wouldn't even attempt to fix it. I was quoted $6K for a new boiler! So you can bet I called Sila back and got it fixed. The furnace was fixed after the part came in. Total savings: $5,700.

Description of Work: The furnice was inspected and cleaned. It was checked for builtup dust, since my filters never got dirty. In addition to the furnace, he discovered a leak in a pipe that that I didn't know was there. He was very professional and I would use them again.

+ -1 moreI would recommend this company without reservation. The technician, Joey, was excellent; very professional, personable, on-time, and explained the problem clearly. He also immediately called the office to determine if the part needed was under warranty and I was able to go ahead and schedule the follow on appointment right then as they verified the warranty status immediately. I had the replacement part installed in less than a week which was terrific service. All services were performed quickly and perfectly.
Description of Work: I first had the company come and service the furnace using the $69 big deal. A problem was discovered and I had to replace a part which was under warranty but paid for the labor to install the new part in the follow up appointment ($150).
