Sila Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

We had a coupon through Angie's List to do the 21-Point Furnace Tune-up. We have just recently purchased our condo so this was our first time doing a tune-up on our furnace. The gentleman (forgive me, his name escapes me) was prompt, was nice to talk to and he explained things to us about our furnace. One thing that we didn't know is that we didn't have a filter in our furnace! He tried to fit one to our unit but it was an unusual size, so it was nice of him to give it a try. He was really helpful and told us what size to get when we went to the hardware store. For two people who are really ignorant about furnaces, he did a good job being patient with us. The only thing that was mildly negative is that he complained about it being a walk-up (we live on the 4th floor). I believe if anyone is going to complain about it being a walk-up, it should be us, since we do it multiple times a day. With that said, it went really well and we will be using them again in the future.

My experience with Sila Heating & Air Conditioning was completely positive. It was very easy to set up the visit through a friendly telephone call from the company, the technician was punctual and professional, and while this was just for a routine tune-up I will definitely call them again and have already recommended them highly to several friends.

Put on shoe covers at the front door. Introduced himself and was very professional. Performed a 21-point boiler maintenance inspection. Provided a typed list ahead of time and explained what he was doing. Answered all of my questions in detail. Did a very thorough job.

Oscar came within the allotted time, inspected the heat pump/outside unit, cleaned it, and inspected the inside HVAC unit and cleaned the blower. He gave suggestions for how we could upgrade our system. He was very professional and courteous.

The company called me up to set up the appointment, they were on time, the work was fine, and the technician was knowledgeable and professional and did not try to sell me anything else. Overall, a great experience.

They gave me some pointers about filters. I have nothing to complain about with their work. I thought it was a good price. I would probably use them again. They seem to know what they were doing. They came on time.

The serviceman was on time. He was very efficient. Gave me some suggestions regarding my filter.

Excellent experience, top notch craftsmanship. This was a big job! Our old house was very quirky, which apparently is common for these kinds of retrofitting installations. We have radiator heat, so needed to install the whole system to have AC. Good negotiation, some willingness to come down in price a very small amount based on competing estimates, overall excellent process. The project is quite complex, involving running insulated tubing throughout the house. Did a pretty good job of concealing it in closets and under dropped ceilings, but it's still a major change. They did it right, though, and got even some of the tougher rooms to reach cooled down. It's a several day project. Excellent, considerate workmen, good cleanup.

Overall, I am very happy with Sila. They came twice. The first visit they were late but called and let me know they were running late and asked if I would like to reschedule or wait. I decided to wait. Oscar is very professional and helpful. He made sure I understood what he was doing and explained why. My radiators are bled differently than most and once he figured that out, he explained the difference to me and showed me how to do it myself for next time. The thermastat they had ordered wasn't going to work so they came back a few days later with a new one and installed it. and explained how to work it. Overall, I found their prices to be competitive.

The technician came out, found the source of the leak immediately, took care of the issue, and performed the service as requested. Because the leak was so easily addressed they didn't even charge for that part of the service. The tech also provided some feedback on the condition of my water heater. I was pleased and when I am ready to replace the water heater I will definitely be getting an estimate from them.

Initially, my service appointment fell through the cracks. I waited, and nobody ever showed up, so I was apt to have low expectations for the appointment. I made the service appointment not only to get my 50+ year old furnace cleaned but to ask questions about what doors, etc. I could put in and around the area. When the gentleman came for the appointment, I was very impressed. He was very kind to my small children (who unfortunately got away from me and my wife), but was very knowledgeable and responsive to questions. I would definitely hire this company again.

Oscar proceeded to take the unit in the basement apart and check it thoroughly and clean it. He explained many functions to me that I did not understand, and he readily answered my questions and helped me to understand how to get more efficiency from my unit inside and the heat pump outside. He was not in a hurry, was courteous and professional, and when he left I had a sense that I was personally taken care of and was important to this company through their excellent employee, Oscar. I ended up asking about and purchasing a service contract with the company. I highly recommend Sila ... and ask for Oscar!

The service person was running a bit behind schedule, but when I called in to see where they were, the lady answering my call was able to let me know when they would be over. The gentleman who came in and performed the inspection was very personable and we had a nice conversation about the furnace and what he was looking for/seeing the entire time he was inspecting. Overall it was a good experience and I will call them again for my HVAC needs.

Oscar R. arrived early, was very professional. Seemed knowledgeable about his business; gave me good feedback on maintenance for the furnace - and good info on the water heater I will soon need; he will have someone follow up with me. Altogether very pleased.

Oscar arrived as scheduled and got to work immediately. He found several things wrong, including a cracked heat exchanger and a bypassed rollout safety switch. He explained his examination every step of the way, patiently answered all my questions. Unfortunately, because of the age of our system and the severity of its problems, he declared the system near-dead. He shut it down immediately and offered guidance for our next steps.

The experience was very good. The technician came when they said they would come. He analyzed and fixed the problem with my heat. He also then took the time to explain my system to me which was very helpful. I will definitey use this company as my on going maintance provider.

Hired Sila to extend/move thermostat wiring that was in the way of our water heater. Oscar performed the work--he was very pleasant and professional. We would use Sila again in the future.

Happily the examination failed to identify any problems. I found Oscar to be professional, competent, and personalble. When I need heating or air conditioning help in the future I will call Sila

Called Sila for service contract on hot water boiler. Technician arrived promptly at time promised. Noted one problem. Scheduled repair. Office called with estimate and time for repair. Technician arrived on time, completed repair and, because it took less time than estimated, charged less than estimate. Also, because we had repair done, gave discount on service contract. Excellent experience. Highly recommend Sila.

Taking advantage of a big deal from Sila Heating & AC, I had my 40-year-old boiler cleaned for the first in time in 10 years. Oscar not only performed outstanding service, but also patiently demonstrated the need for annual cleaning and answered my numerous maintenance and safety questions. The cleaning included carbon monoxide testing, which I hadn't considered could be a problem with an old boiler.

Oscar was awesome. He was very thorough and professional. I am a first time homebuyer, and I have never lived in a house with a boiler, radiators, or any sort of gas service- so I had a lot of questions. He was very patient with all of my questions and gave great detail answers and explanations- like how radiators work and how to "bleed" them. I would definitely use Sila again, and I hope that everyone is as great as Oscar. My only wish is that I would have gotten a copy of the "21 points" included in the check for my own reference. I didn't think to ask at the time, but in retrospect it would have been nice to have in my records.

I was very pleased with the service. The service tech, Oscar R was very professional and helpfully explained what the needs of my system might be in the future. No pressure to spend more money on something I don't need. I would highly recommend Sila.

They were great. I set up the appointment via e-mail, which was really easy. The technician arrived on time and stayed for about half an hour, doing a detailed inspection and cleaning -- much more thorough than the last time we had a furnace inspection.
