lCalled Silas because I had Angie's coupon for Furnace tune-up, and realized I hadn't had this done for quite a while. Home Build Year: 1912 Furnace Age: @10 years Work Done: The service agent, Mr. Cottrell, arrived on time and dismissed my apologies for the basement mess with "It's a basement." I appreciated that reassurance. He quickly took apart the lower level of the furnace and showed me the accumulation of dirt on the mechanism, explaining that this kind of accumulation decreased fuel efficiency. He proceeded quickly to clean it, found no problems with the parts otherwise and restarted it with a clean filter I had available. Elapsed time was less than 45 minutes. Other: Since he seemed quite knowledgeable, I asked him whether I should use the reuseable microfilter my M.D. had recommended several years ago. He was quite opposed to it, because these filters are hard to clean properly (true) and as a result owners don't clean them frequently or well enough, causing the efficiency of the unit to be less that optimal. He also checked an attached 'humidifier' for me and determined that it was not working and apparently had not worked for a while, confirming my suspicions that it was junk. After we left the basement, Mr. Cottrell made a pitch for an annual inspection contract with his firm which would include servicing and inspection of my AC unit as well. I have rarely had an HVAC tune-up or repair that did not end this way, but that seems to be part of the business. He made a reasonable case on the basis of cost, and considering how slack I had been about taking care of this, I agreed to the contract. I also discussed with him the cost of replacing the heating unit, which is too loud and irritating. He called his office and got a price for me immediately, and if things continue to go well, I am likely to go with this firm when I am ready for a replacement.

Scheduled a service call the same morning I called. Julio came on time, quickly diagnosed the problem, explained the situation clearly, and fixed it quickly. Warned about possible motor damage but did not recommend a new motor now. Offered and explained annual maintenance contract but did not over-sell it.

I could not have been more pleased. The representative was pleasant and on time!

Great service overall. The technician showed up early after a call to see if I was home. He started in the yard, performing measurements outside and explaining everything to me. Then we went inside and he showed me the inside AC components, which were attached to my furnace. He performed his detailed checks and said everything was fine. He was very nice and professional and he answered all of my questions completely.

Service technician, Oscar arrived as scheduled and performed service in a very professional manner. He was mindful not to track up my floor by wearing a protective covering for his shoes. Work was performed in a timely fashion.

The service went really well. First of all, Sila offered a discount if you had the service done early in the season.They did not give me difficulty about having the technician bringing a ladder to service the unit on the roof (other companies were going to charge us $200 extra for additional insurance to have the technician access the roof from outside). I was able to get the appointment when I wanted it, and the technician arrived right on time (I was given a window of 10-12, and he arrived at 10). He was extremely courteous and careful about putting covers on his work shoes when he had to walk through the house. He completed the work in 1 1/2 hrs and explained what he had done and the state of our A/C system before leaving. A thoroughly satisfying experience!

I actually wasn't home when Oscar came to service my HVAC system, but my father was. He was impressed with Oscar's knowledge and honesty about the state of my furnace. He didn't try to fix anything that wasn't broken and gave my dad some ideas for cutting a vent in a duct for an unheated part of the basement. My only other comment is that we found a bottle of oil that was left on the furnace. I chalk it up to an inadvertent mistake. I would definitely use Sila again.

They were suppose to come back with a part and never did. They were suppose to get back to me and I don't know what happened. The service I purchased was fine.

I was very happy with the service overall - a bit shocked at the estimate to fix leak, but I checked, and it was definitely a fair price - decided to wait until nes Fall to do the work - will ask them to do it.

Job accomplished without hitch.

I was very satisfied with the work. Joey performed the work and was a great listener. He also informed me along the way of what he was doing. I really appreciated understanding the scope of the work and was educated along the way. It was clear that Joey knew what he was doing and I didn't feel as though anything was done that wasn't necessary. I will definitely be signing up for a service plan in the near future.

I contacted Sila Heating & Air conditioning because of the good reviews, and the $89.00 special they were running. I have two zones, and asked for service on only one AC unit because I have a free service for one AC unit with my boiler service contract. My appointment was at 3pm, and Joey was waiting for me when I arrived at 2:30pm. That was my first pleasant surprise, not having to wait for a service technician. Joey was professional, fast, and explained everything about the service. I was so impressed by Joey that I am going to have Sila come back and replace a rusted pan under my a-coil, and I am going to have them service my other AC unit, even though it is under contract to another company. Sila will be my go-to service company for Heating and Air Conditioning.

It went very well. At the end he explained to me three things that were of concern to him. He was able to quote the approximate cost for each item that was in need of repair. He was great and I would have Sila Heating and Air Conditioning perform service again in my home.

I bought the recent $69 "Big Deal" for an ac/heat check-up. I called the next day and expected to wait for weeks for the check-up because of the volume of work generated by the "Big Deal." Instead they were able to schedule me within 5 days. Julio was our serviceman and we were very impressed with him. He arrived on time, was very thorough, very polite, and seemed very knowledgeable. Oscar conducted a thorough A/C check up.

Technician was prompt (at 3pm for an appointment with a 3-5pm time window), and efficiently got through the maintenance inspection. He pointed out a couple parts which could need replacing as the unit ages a bit down the line but are currently still fully functional, what to look out for and why a part might fail. Very tidy. The Angie's List deal was good value for money.

The service was very good. We are still thinking over getting a service plan from them.

We did a lot of research on Angie's List and contacted several providers. Many of them were ok but Brentin from SILA was the most thorough, answered all of our questions, provided references without asking, and really worked hard to earn our business. Most importantly, he seemed to listen to what we said. An example: We told all providers very specifically that we're not interested in mini-split systems and what did their proposals have? Mini-split systems - An instant disqualifier. The work was performed well, we were happy with the quality of work and their punctuality. We chose the HV because the flexible ductwork would be easier to get in to an older home like ours. I was amazed at how little damage there was. The only hitch with the installation was that when the system was first turned on, it did not have enough refrigerant so it was not cooling at all. The reason this happened was that while the A/C system installation was ready, the electrical heavy-up wasn't done yet so SILA's guys couldn't power up and run the system. As soon as we got the A/C powered up and the problem was discovered, SILA's technicians came over and fixed the problem. We signed up to their maintenance plan and had them come out this spring already to check on the system, which was another pleasant experience with SILA. If their price is within your price range, I can recommend going with SILA and their high-velocity system.

It was totally professional in the way in which the technician explaining all of the different things. They needed to be done such as the electrical system that works in the motor also the thermostat that controls the different temperatures within the unit.I was totally pleased with this service in which you provided at this time and I would truly recommend him to any other person that needs that particular service.

Today Oscar the technician came to do my annual HVAC maintenance. Oscar was professional and courteous. He explained things in an understandable way. He provided me with tips to maintain the longevity of my unit which is nearly 12 years old. Since it's within a few years of dying, I opted for a higher coverage service plan so that I can apply a few bandages relatively cheaply before I have to replace the whole thing. Oscar was punctual and provided great feedback. I will ask for Oscar to come out the next time I schedule maintenance.
