The overall job went very well. I am disappointed, however, in how long it took them to get to our job. We were several days in the 90s without air conditioning and had to add the expense of a night in a hotel room because we just couldn't take it anymore.

My unit had not been serviced in years and it stopped cooling, with hot weather on the way. Not knowing who to call, I joined Angie's list and found the number 1 rated HVAC company, and the name of a technician named Oscar. Everything was smooth as can be. Oscar should be as famous as he is. He's a delight to talk to, is patient in explanations, no hard sell of products or services, prompt and very professional. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with SILA's responsiveness (through e-mail). I didn't want to get a service contract at this time with SILA, but I will. It's a relief to this old lady to have a great company like this in my area. My air-conditioner is working better and quieter than ever and I keep having to turn the temperature up, it's so cold in my house!

As soon as I purchased the deal for Sila Heating & Air Conditioning they came out within that next week. They were very timely, very courteous, did what they were supposed to do, and it was a pleasant experience. I was extremely satisfied using Sila Heating & Air Conditioning.

The problem with the a/c was solved and he completed the job in no time. He was knowledgeable and very professional. He checked a problem with the furnace and had to order a part, which he did while he was here. Very impressive. Very professional and knowledgeable. We would definitely use them again.

Went above and beyond in cleaning and servicing a unit that had gone unserviced for an extended period of time. Really cared about doing a good job, and stayed longer than expected to finish the job right.

They said the air conditioner is old and was low on free on so they filled it up and recommended annual checks to ensure proper functioning.

Bought an Angies List Big Deal to check my furnace and A/C. We recieved a call confirming the appointment. The technician (Oscar) arrived on time and politely covered his shoes to protect my floors. Oscar was excellent. He was patient with all my questions and he educated me along the way on maintenance, repair and what I may need to do in the future. Oscar also discussed ways to address the issues I had with my upstairs floor being too warm because I have only one thermostat in a 3-level house. I highly recommend this company and I will definitely use them in the future. Professional all the way.

The first day (Wednesday) the service man, Oscar, came and inspected my system and diagnosed the problem. He said that I needed a new blower motor and that he would order it and come back and replace it. On Friday, right at the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend, he came back at 6:00 PM and installed the blower motor so that I (and my weekend company) could have cool air during the weekend. The work was accomplished efficiently and within the time frame that was promised. Oscar was great and came back after his last scheduled call at the start of a holiday weekend which I really appreciated. This is the second time in 6 months that I have had problems with my heating and air conditioning. I have 4-zone heating/cooling in my house, and each time I have had a problem, it has been fixed quickly, efficiently and correctly. Thanks, Sila. I wil continue to use your services.

Sila Heating & Air Conditioning's service was really good. They were very professional. They made an appointment right away. They came out one time. They didn't pressure me. In the end, I felt confident. They were being honest and straightforward with me. They reassured me that the system I'm getting is topnotch. I could say that they did not lie. I appreciated them so much. They came in handy and they did it quickly within three days. They were good. They were really good about following up. I called them and told them that the system was not working. They came back and gave me a tutorial. I would recommend them.

In anticipation of the coming heat, I purchased a maintenance review of our A/C system through Angie's list. With the confirmation code in hand I called Sila to book an appointment. The scheduling process was great, and they were able to accommodate my request to have the first appointment of the day (at 8:00 a.m). The technician (Oscar Robinson) arrived on time, took care to keep my floors clean from the rainy streets, and provided lots of advice to help me understand my system. He was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Instead of trying to sell me things I didn't need, he focused on the technical matters of his work. While some companies charge extra to use a ladder to acces an attic, Sila just need to know that a ladder was necessary. It was a helpful recommendation to order an automatic cutoff in case the condensation tube clogs, and he provided two alternatives. It was a very positive experience, and I'll be a repeat customer. (Only recommendation for improvement would be that they give a reminder call on the day before of the appointment)

The technician arrived on time and explained to me what was being done. He answered questions that I had and was professional and courteous.

Work person was on time, friendly, professional. He showed me what he was doing, explained how some of the furnace parts worked. Did not try to upsell me at all. Very happy with the experience.

I turned on the AC last night for the first time this season and was very dismayed not to have any cool air. I called Sila first thing this morning and was told their first available appointment was in 3 days, which was not great but not surprising given the very warm weather. I was very surprised to receive a call a few hours later saying they had a cancellation and could work me in today. Great news. They called a few minutes later and said the tech was running ahead of schedule and could be at my house in 15 minutes if that worked for my schedule!!! Joey was waiting for me when I arrived home and had the problem diagnosed (circuit breaker was flipped.. I had other work done by another company and they left it off and unit needed coolant) within minutes. He was very careful to move things away from the work area and left it very clean. Also, he was very patient and thorough in explaining the system, the problem, offering several solutions in various price ranges (short term and long term fixes), and answering numerous questions. He was polite, professional, knowledgeable, neat, respectful and worked very efficiently. The house had cooled 4 degrees by the time he left. I highly recommend Sila and their tech Joey Jordan.

A previous contractor had installed a new HVAC system, did not have the thermostat at the installation, and then never followed. Sila was quick to respond to my request, the technician was friendly and knowledgeable, and overall the experience was excellent.

Service tech arrived on the agreed upon time. According to my wife he was very professional, explained everything to my wife that the unit I had was the builders grade unit and that it was time to change it. He also called me (I wasn't at home) to explain to me that the unit would most likely break down again soon if I fixed it so he recommended that I replace it. I agreed with him sinbce I had replaced the motor less than six month prior. I called several companies for a second opinion and they all agreed with Silo's tech that it was time to replace the unit.

This was by far the best experience I've had with HVAC companies in 20 years of owning a house in the District. We realized that our house was not cooling properly when we turned on the system this spring. We had everything serviced last year, so it was frustrating not to have it working properly. As the company I've used for many years has new owners and a terrible reputation these days, I researched Sila on Angie's List and gave them a call. I called on Friday and they were here at 9am the following Monday. Joey checked the thermostat, the air handler in the attic and the heat pump on the roof. He told me my freon level and pressures were fine and he asked me a lot of questions as the problem was not apparent. He consulted with his team and before long he found that a loose wire inside the unit was shorting out and causing the heater and air conditioner to run simultaneously. He fixed it and assured me that we'd be cool in no time. It took about an hour from start to finish and it was only $68. I asked him for several business cards to share with friends and I will only use these guys whenever I need HVAC support in the future.

I had used Sila before for a furnace maintenance and I had been pleased, so I decided to try them for my water heater replacement. In the lead-up to the work, they were great. There were some questions about code compliance on my venting, and they were able to address my concerns. I scheduled the work for a Thursday (the day I work from home) and the tech came out on time and installed the water heater without a hitch, so far so good. In PG and Montgomery Counties you then need to have the water heater inspected by WSSC. This is where the problems began. I called on Monday to find out when the inspection would take place (it's the responsibility of the installer to schedule the inspection). I was told that there was a new plumbing code requirement for an expansion tank and they would have to come out and install the tank. No problem, they came out and installed the tank. I later found out it was not a new requirement but had been on the books for at least a couple years. I can only speculate why it was not done at install time. I didn't hear anything about the inspection the following week and was a little distracted by other things, so on the Monday of the next week I called Sila about the inspection. (Again, I wanted to schedule the inspection for a Thursday, the day I was home.) I was told I would have to talk to the sales rep, Brentin, who was responsible for scheduling the install. I was told he would call me back. No callback Monday so I called again Tuesday. Same thing. No callback. So I called again Wednesday. Finally at the very end of the day Wednesday he called me, said that the inspectors were booked and so we agreed to have the inspection the following Thursday. Next Tuesday I called to verify that the inspection was set up for Thursday, and was told it was. On Thursday morning at about 6:30 AM I go out in the yard to walk my dog and there is a truck parked across the street from my driveway with two guys sitting inside drinking coffee. At about 7:15 I get a knock on my door. It's the two guys from the truck. They said they were contracted to check the installation before the inspection. I asked if they knew the name of the company that had done my inspection and they couldn't name it. It was very strange and uncomfortable. Nobody at Sila ever said anything about subcontracting anything or told me that there would be people at my door at the crack of dawn. Finally I let one of them in to look at the water heater, he said it was fine and the inspectors would be by between 10 and noon. Shortly before 10, I get a knock on the door. It's not the inspectors, it's the boss of the other two guys (actually, it turns out, this is the Master Plumber whose name is on the permit, and he doesn't even work for Sila). He said his guys saw something in the install they wanted him to check out. So he goes down and looks at it and says the flue pipe is too long and was causing the venting to have a downturn, which was against code. So the flue pipe needs to be shortened. That afternoon he sends his guys back to my house (the same two who were there that morning) to fix the flue pipe. So, at last, the water heater is ready for the inspection. Hooray. It is scheduled for the next Thursday - five weeks after the original installation. At about 8:00 AM the master plumber arrives and parks at the end of my driveway to wait for the inspectors. He parks so he is partially blocking my driveway as if he is afraid I am going to leave or something. It was, again, very strange. Awhile later the inspectors arrive and the inspection goes off without a hitch, thanks goodness. In the end, from the sales visit to the inspection it took over six weeks and a total of seven trips to my house to get this right. Yeah, in the end they did get it right, which is why this is a D rating instead of an F. But it's a water heater! Why does it take seven visits for a water heater?!?! I will not use Sila again for an installation. They recently fixed a condensate pump on my furnace and I got the service contract for a year (which I now regret) because it saved me enough money on the spring/fall service to make sense. Therefore I have prepaid service on my furnace and A/C for a year, so I might call them for that for the duration of the contract. But once that's done it is unlikely I will use them again. And if I have any trouble with those services, I will definitely rate them down.

It went well. Though my unit is almost 20 years old, I was informed that it still had life remaining so that was a relief! He was very knowledgeable and set me up with an estimator for geothermal at my request.

I requested an early service. The technician was at my house at 6:45am, even though he had to come a long distance. He was very thorough and explained everything in detail. His price was very fair..I haven't had any problems since the service, and my electric bills are back to normal.I would definitely used Sila again.

Overall I was blown away by how thorough Oscar was and how hard he worked to clean my A/C unit. I had read his previous review in Angie's List and I agree with it completely. I have already decided to use Sila to service my furnace before winter. If I ever have any problems with my HVAC system, Sila will be the first company I call. Oscar takes pride in his work and it shows. He is an asset to his company and they would be wise to keep him.

Technician was extremely professional and got to work immediately after arriving about 10 minutes early. I was very pleased with Sila and highly recommend this company.
