Mike's Carpet

Mike made a couple visits to our house with samples (he no longer staffs a retail store but routinely works by phone or in person this way -- a great convenience to the customer). After several discussions, we settled on Berber carpeting and scheduled delivery/installation. His team came as scheduled. The work was thorough, and over all very good. There were 3-4 spots where we felt some subsequent attention, fixes were needed and Mike readily agreed and scheduled workers to return and address the issues. MEANTIME, however, our improperly installed (by an unrelated separate home delivery company) overflowed, dousing 2/3 of the freshly installed (10-days old) brand new beautiful carpeting. After dealing with an unsuccessful attempt by a cleaning/restoration company, we AGAIN called Mike and reordered more of the same carpeting. Mike provided another estimate (to be covered, subsequently, by the errant insurance company's client, fortunately). Mike quickly reserved the carpet from the same dye lot even before we fully confirmed wanting a redo and subsequently sent an even more expert installation team for the new carpets. Mike is a pleasure to do business with, has a relaxed, gentile, very honest and sincere manner and has available capable installers with whom he has worked for several years. Despite the pain connected with the situation, our dealings with Mike and his staff provided a happy respite from the rest of the activities connected with dealings with others. The price shown for the services below is for the first full installation only (the subsequent redo of a portion of the work was less since the hall and bedroom did not get flooded and need to be redone). A point of information for others: Mike's cost typically includes removal, if needed of existing carpeting, and a charge for having to move furniture. These are in addition to the straightforward installation cost built into the price of the carpet and padding on a per square foot/yard basis.

We tore out an existing reach-in closet in a bedroom to have a closet company install efficient floor-to-ceiling shelving. This left big gaps in the carpet that had to be repaired before the closet company could do their installation. I called Mike's because they are A-rated, do carpet repairs, and are only five minutes from my house. Mike answered the phone right away when I called. He gave me an estimate over the phone and scheduled the repair for the next day. They showed up on time and did a beautiful job for the quoted price.

The owner and his staff were professional and easy to work with. After getting ridiculously high estimates from other companies for a relatively minor job, I had lost hope of finding a contractor to do the work. But then I found Mike on Angie's. Mike gave me a very reasonable quote from the start and didn't change it after he looked at the pictures that I sent him. He fit me into his crew's schedule quickly. A few days later, the crew came; they were professional, efficient, and friendly. They did the job quickly and well and cleaned up afterwards. I was happy with the end product and will certainly use Mike's Carpet again if the need arises.

Customer service was excellent and turnaround time was fast because we needed it in less than a week.

The owner was very nice. After I visited with him in the store, I decided to go with his company rather than with the other companies that I received estimates. The project was wall to wall carpeting over my entire house. The owner helped me select carpet that fit my budget and met my needs. The installers arrived on time and were very professional. My personal property was handled with care and nothing was broken. The carpet was recently installed and appears to have been installed correctly. The seams look fine and new metal plates cover the edges. The installers cleaned up well and returned the heavy furniture items to the correct areas in the house.

Tony came and measured the floors. He brought over carpet samples that he picked out. Tony is very nice, accommodating and knowledgeable. I picked out a carpet with a detailed pattern (berber), and his guys did a great job laying it down.

Overall, the experience has been perfect. I've been doing business with them on a yearly basis for the past 20 years. Mike always does a great job, and his technicians are always on time and do the work completely. If I ever have any sort of issue, Mike either sends a technician out right away, or comes out himself to fix whatever is needed.

The work was great. Mike did a review of the final installation, and if I had any issues, he was incredibly responsive with fixing them. He does a great job.

Tony is fantastic. He knows carpets, colors, and the business of carpet installation (like a puzzle) and is a great customer service guy. When he retires after this year, Mike's in trouble, 'cause the heart of the customer experience will go with him. They meet or beat the price of everyone around. I had gotten an in home estimate from Tony last year, which was the lowest price of four other bids I got, but I was not able to afford the work. However, this year, I had a smaller job to do and went straight back to Mikes. I stopped in the store on a Saturday....Tony was headed out but offered to come by my place for an estimate within an hour. He did! I liked the price of the estimate but really wanted the work done before Tuesday. Tony made it happen next day...which was a Sunday! The installers showed up 30minutes late...instead of btwn 8 and 8:30am as promised, they rolled in around 9am. They were neat, clean and professional and got right to work. They seemed like experienced installers. We needed to make a few adjustments during the approx 4 hour installation. But overall I'm pleased with how it turned out. They left me with some nice big scraps, too. Mikes and really Tony, met my needs exactly.

THEY WERE NICE AND KIND. THE PRICE QUOTE WAS EXACTLY WHAT I PAID AT THE END. THEY INSTALLED GOOD QUALITY CARPET AND CLEANED UP AFTER THE WORK. I WAS VERY SATISFIED. I HAVE USED THEM TWICE.
