After all these years, the floors have held up very well and still have a nice shine to them. I am very happy with their work. They put the floors in all in one day and worked efficiently. The molding around the walls is very nice and has never came loose.
Description of Work: They installed our hardwood flooring in the dining, living rooms, and hallway.

They just did the floors. The punctuality of the people that came out and did the work was fine. The product, and the ensuing problems was a total "F". It was a horrible experience. I bought $30,000 worth of negative advertising. It was horrible what they did. The product is sub-par, it was supposed to be a hard wood, and it was a very soft wood that is already scratched up, and it dents easily. The stairs that they installed, within two weeks they were spitting. It was bad. When we called them and told them it was splitting, they referred us to a 800 number. When we called the quality assurance department, they said that we were out of luck. They said that the stairs didn't have a warranty and the floor warranty only covers manufacturer defects. I said that it was supposed to have a 100 year warranty, but it only covers a very specific thing, so it is totally useless. There's nothing that can be done, it's already done. Eventually, we're going to have to have it sanded down and resealed.

Description of Work: Horrible!!!! If I could afford any attorney - I would take Lumber Liquidators to court. They had to fire 1st crew, and bring in 2nd crew - a 4 day project took 2 weeks. They damages walls, damaged our custom cabinets, damaged the new flooring. A complete hack job. 2 times they brought out a follow on repair crew - they botched / screwed up the flooring worse than 2nd crew. 2nd crew did not want to touch 1st fired crew job. These guys suck!!!! Perhaps CEO can email me to make amends - PEvans9168@aol.com

I like the floor; however when it came out that some Lumber Liquidator floors contain high levels of formaldehyde, I called the Customer Care number provided to check. Even though I had the name of the floor, the person refused to tell me because my contractor made the purchase. Rather than being helpful, she told me I'd have to have him call. Anyone whose worked with contractors knows this is ridiculous. This is not Lumber Liquidators being transparent and genuine about addressing the issue. This is about Lumber Liquidators being evasive and requiring customers to jump through hoops just to get an answer to a question that they absolutely should be happily providing. What if I was a new customer and wanted to know if the floor I was selecting was one of the floors - I'm sure they would tell me if I was a prospective customer, but once you've purchased the floor, they clearly don't want to deal with this. Can anyone on this board answer my questions since LL cannot: St. James Collection, Toasted Chicory, 12 mm. The box says Made in China. I will start trying to track down my contractor but just want everyone to know my experience in how LL is dealing with this issue.

To summarize, the product was defective and lumber liquidators has yet to provide assurances as to how this problem will be addressed. After letting the wood acclimate for two weeks, a licensed professional installer began instillation to discover warping of around 10% of the product. The wood was kept in a moisture free and elevated environment, as per wood flooring guidelines. We received additional material from lumber liquidators, but this too contained warped planks, but provided enough material despite added wastage to complete the project. Several weeks after install the polyurethane coating on the installed flooring began cracking. The problem is systemic and spreading, and will likely require at the best resurfacing of the entire 1410 sq ft, and at the worst the replacement of the entire flooring material. Lumber liquidators has yet to guarantee a full refund and have been difficult to contact throughout this process. In addition Mike the manager of customer care for LL has yet to return phone calls regarding this matter. This home is a brand new construction with defective flooring throughout...in essence ruining a home my girlfriend and i have had spent countless hours and huge financial resources having built. I have never been so dissatisfied with a company and their product in my life. Please help us Angie! C and H
Description of Work: We placed an order for and received 1522 sq ft of Pewter Maple by Bellawood with 5inch wide planks. The proper wood product was delivered on time. The wood was to be installed across 1410 sq ft of flooring in a new construction.

Response from LUMBER LIQUIDATORS
This letter is in response to your recent communication with Lumber Liquidators, Inc. (LLI) regarding your concern of cupping. We truly regret to hear that you are experiencing a problem with your flooring. It is helpful, however, to understand the reasons and causes of cupping in order to correct this condition. According to the photos that were sent in for us to review, you are experiencing cupping and some checking within your flooring. Cupping is when the edges of a board appear noticeably higher or raised that its center. Other names for cupping are; edge-peaking, curling, rippling or wash-boarding. This condition can be manifested in all types of wood floor products and installation methods, such as nail-down, glue-down or floating. Cupping occurs when there is an imbalance of moisture between the bottom and top of the board. This imbalance can be verified by taking moisture readings at different depths (top, middle and bottom) of the floor board using pin type meter. (fig1) Excess moisture from spills, leaks, saturation or high humidity levels (over 50%) can reach the bottom of the floor boards while the top surface areas of the board by be relatively dry. When the bottom of boards absorb moisture, individual board edges will tend to swell widthwise and upwards and become quite visible (fig2). This extra stress pushing up against the surrounding installed boards can result in objectionable finish problems such as cracking, peeling, flaking, or chipping. In addition, the structural body of the boards can also suffer splits on the ends or face checking. If the wood flooring has expanded significantly and for extended time, a permanent “compression set” or deformity can result as the board edges are crushed together. In summary, cupping is always caused by on-site moisture. After installation, the bottom of the boards have picked up elevated moisture. The main reasons for this condition are leaking appliances, excessive moisture when cleaning, or installation-related errors, such as lack of moisture testing or an inadequate or non-existent moisture barrier. The manufacturer does not have any control over the conditions on the job site or the moisture levels in the new flooring once the product has been shipped and installed. It is helpful to know that mild cupping can be corrected. The first step in repairing a cupped floor is to identify and eliminate the source of moisture. Once correct, cupping may naturally dry out and improve over time. Raising the in-home temperature and using fans will speed-up the drying process. In severe cases of cupping, it may be necessary to completely sand and refinish the total floor. Your local refinisher can provide you with the best guidance for corrections as he surveys the true condition of the floor with you. Because cupping floors are a localized site problem, Lumber Liquidators, Inc does not order inspections of them. However, enclosed for your convenience, is a list of third party, nationwide inspection companies should you disagree with the assessment and wish to order an inspection. You may also choose any other inspection company as long as they meet the qualifications listed on the reference sheet. If an inspection is completed and the results factually show that there is a manufacturing related issue; you may forward the report to Lumber Liquidators for review and consideration for resolution based on the warranty guidelines. We know this can be a frustrating experience and truly regret to hear you have an issue with your flooring, but most cupping concerns can be addressed through proper maintenance. For written copies of our product warranties, installation instructions or for additional help, please visit our website. You can access our “Flooring 101” self-help tab at the bottom of the page under SERVICES, and then use the ‘Search’ tab, or search categories listed. I hope you find this information helpful. I bought my wood from them, but did not have them do the install. I did speak with them in depth about the options and the process. If you go there, Derrick and Ariel are very knowledgeable and helpful. I got a pretty good deal on the oak. The quality was pretty good. Lumber liquidators is 10 times better than the big box stores or even the local independent flooring places in my neighborhood. The only negative is the store was almost always busy, so you need to be patient. The staff is friendly from the sales to the guys loading the cars.

The purchase went great, the product was received when promised and the quality was as anticipated. I had some problems with the company that Lumber Liquidators referred me to for the installation, Robert's Hardwood Flooring, namely due to the fact that the gentlemen that actually performed the installation had difficulty communicating with me. They did not understand me and I did not understand them. However, the owner of the company was responsive and addressed my concerns. The work was generally acceptable and I will definitely be returning to Lumber Liquidators for hardwood flooring for other rooms in my house.
Description of Work: Lumber Liquidators explained about the various types of hardwood flooring, installation methods, care of the product and sold me the flooring, including insulation. They also referred me to a company with experience in installing the type of hardwood flooring I purchased.

They had their installers do the hardwood flooring. They were great because many times I went in there saying my wife does not like this or that. I told my wife that she was going to like the flooring and that we should have bought everything they had to do the entire house and she said no, no. The next thing I know is that she loved it and wanted to do the rest of the house and now they don't carry it. They are about whatever they have in the warehouse.

They wer every helpfu in the store, however I order my wood, and it never came in. I had to end up getting another product. I had to drive out to the store befre they realized it hadn't come in so it was a waste of time. The price was amazing. The installation was good. They sent out 2 separte installers and the job is yet to be completed because they did not have all the materials they needed to finish.

good experience, good value. I knew what I wanted and it was a question of matching the wood. I called up and told them what I needed. He told us the price, which was very competitive. They recommended a subcontractor who handled all the negotiations on their behalf. They are great on price, but I feel they are more order takers rather than there to help make decisions.
