I will have to say although the replacement unit is smaller than I thought, I am happy with it and how it functions. Overall, I would use Jolles again. The professionalism and customer oriented service made the difference for me. The only draw back is the timing of the repairman showing up. I was told that the repairman would show up that morning, however, he didn't arrive until late morning - early afternoon. After contacting the company, I was told that he was running behind on another job but he would be there soon. The main reason for my angst was that the condo management company would only turn off building services for a period of time and if he came too late, I would have to reschedule. I wish the repairman and/or the company would have taken the initiative to say "we have you scheduled for this time but the repairman is running late so he will arrive at..." as opposed to me making calls to find out his whereabouts. Otherwise, I have no complaints about the people or the service I received.
Description of Work: I contacted Jolles in December 2011, for heating repair work. The repairman showed up timely and informed me of my options of either replacing the bad motor on my old unit (20-plus years of age) or buying a new one. He continued to identify other issues he was upon doing the inspection and gave me information to help me weigh the pros and cons. At that time I was told that if I was interested in replacing the unit, someone would contact me about the pricing. Weeks went by and I never got a call back, which wasn't that big of deal since it wasn't that harsh of a winter. In addition, the receptionist at the time I believe was filling in for the regular and she apologized for any confusion. Moving forward to 2012, I decided to see about replacing the air handler unit. Considering the amount of professionalism exhibited the first time, I contacted Jolles in April/May 2012 (along with other service companies) for an estimate on replacing my air handler unit. The pricing was competitive with the others, however, the owner took time to promptly answer my questions (via email) about installation, warranties, service repairs, etc. The owner then sent me an estimate and told me that it was good for 45 days and detailed the services to be performed. I received the estimate within one day of speaking with him. One of the other companies I spoke with wouldn't guarantee their estimate and proceeded to tell me that the price he quoted me would be good for 30 days if his cost didn't go up within that time frame. I found him rude and acting as if my business wasn't important enough for his company. After the call, I made up my mind and went back to Jolles for the installation of the unit. The receptionist (Deeana I believe) was very courtesy and customer friendly. She made follow up calls and worked with me on scheduling the installation, and immediately called me back on any questions I may have had about the process.

I am brand new to Angie's List and this was my very first attempt at utilizing a company based on the reviews. Unfortunately, the "first time" was not to be the charm for me. I was given a time frame of three hours (9:00am to Noon), in which to expect the technician. When fifteen after noon rolled around, I phoned to find out what was going on and when the tech would arrive. I was told there was an emergency, he was finishing up and would arrive at my home within the hour. Finally, at a little past 2:00pm the techs showed up. I explained to them my problem with a water leakage that has already destroyed a portion of my bedroom ceiling, and three buckets being used to catch the water, and showed them the main HVAC unit on the patio. After briefing looking at the HVAC unit and filling for wetness around the duct area, they informed me, that there was nothing they could do for me because, at that precise point in time, there was no water leaking and the air duct was dry. There was a silver lining in all of this, yes, while I did waste precious annual time by taking the day off to wait for no assistance, I was not charged the service fee, because in the tech's own words............."I didn't do anything"!

Member, We as a company appreciate the fact you felt the no charge was a good thing. Normally all clients are charged for an intial service call but after hearing from or service man that we were one of about 5 or 6 other companies that had come out I felt this was not news you probably heard before or maybe you had issuse with all of them as well. When you have been in business for over 30 years you start to develop a sense as to which jobs you should just stay away from. I am sorry you did not like what we had to say but when I hear that multiple companies have been out and the problem is still being reviewed I start to wonder about the client and why no one else has attempted to fix it for them . Even though you gave us a horrible review as a company for just being upfront and honest we still would like to offer or services if you have another problem in the future. I know as company we are not the horrible people you portary us to be. Hopefully you were able to fix your problem and again if needed we do plumbing along with heating and airconditioning. I ended up getting 3 estimates from this one company because I couldn't decide how best to have this done. Because first I was going to get a generator, then changed my mind, then was going to get a back up system with a battery, then finally decided on the water based system. So I went back and forth several times with the owner, Hal Jolles. He was extremely patient and helpful. The plumber, Bill who actually did all the work was on time and very efficient. He actually worked very hard. I was afraid they would have to take down the small closet that houses the sump pump. But they were able to fit it all in the space. It has a very neat look and very up to date. I had gotten other estimates for the 3 different jobs and Jolles Services came in better. I am a very satisfied customer and just waiting for the rain.
Description of Work: I had my sump pump pit dug up and enlarged because my previous one was too small to accommodate a back up system. So after Jolles Services did that, they replaced my old sump pump and also installed a back up water based pump system (which kicks on when there's no electricity). They also ran a water line from my laundry room to the sump pump.

Service to check the unit was great. Follow up is the worst. The service person was great. Looked at my unit and determined that I would probably need a replacement which is something that I was prepared to hear. Asked for an estimate on Friday, two business days later, no one has contacted from the company. Initially when I was scheduling the appointment, the person said they would call me back to confirm the availability of the service time I desired, I had to call her back the next day. I refuse to call them back to get the estimate of how much a new HVAC will cost me.....its is obvious they do not want my business.

Member, Your estimate for the work was sent. In our office it takes a couple days to price and write up the proposals. We request pricing from our suppiers on all jobs to ensure the best pricing avaiable. When the service call was preformed it was not made apparant to the service provider this was an emergency replacement otherwise pricing would have been sent on Monday. We stated the unit was low on freon and was at the age to replace. As for the 130 dollars to service the unit this is or standard charge. I do not find where it was excessive. This is the same price that was given to you over the phone and the same price that was on the ticket you signed off on. If the contract work is taken within 30 days then the service call is deducted from the price not to mention the Angies list discount. I am sorry you feel the write up was not fast enough I will make sure you are called to discuss the entire service call . Jolles was grea! THey had a tech to our home within 24 hours of the call - even though a cold snap was happening in our area and most of the HVAC companies were too busy (they were too but they were flexible). The tech they sent was great as well. He was on time, professional and explained things in an easy to understand manner. We were very pleased with the service.
Description of Work: Our heating unit was dripping constantly. The techniction from Jolles cleared out any blockage, stopped the drip, explained in detail the cause of the problem and offered a relatively low cost solution if the issue occurred again in the future.

Fantastic service...fast, reasonable price, professional and knowledgable technician...I wish all home repair issues were this easy!
Description of Work: Hi, Our gas fireplace has never worked properly...not enough oxygen to sustain the flame and our builder tricked us by tilting the glass slightly which let oxygen in but also cold air. Jolles was very responsive, the technician came out during the specified window and stayed until he figured out what the issue was...the unit hadn't been installed correctly and there was a flap that wasn't out. The fireplace works perfectly now...just need the weather to get cold!

This place is completely unprofessional. We have tried calling them/emailing them 8 times now and we are through trying to get anyone to answer our simple questions. We called just to get an estimate of what a service plan would be with them and we got the run around. "We need your model numbers." So, we got them the model numbers. Nothing. We emailed them, called them and the receptionist would say, I'll have someone call you back - no response. Weird. You'd think they would call people back - they DO want customers, right? So, now after all that time wasted waiting for some kind of response, we are back to searching for a good company that will call it's customers back and service our A/C unit. Save yourself time and call someone else.

Not sure what the motive of this customer is but as a company we do not ignore request. We do try to find out the model numbers as it give us a bases for what type of unit we need to price out for the contract. We also do not put any units under conract without a through inspection first of which there is a fee. I also have never seen any emails from this client requesting the information. It is possible you spoke with the answering service after hours and did not leave your return contact information or possibly you just have the wrong company. I would be interested in what email address you used for the 8 emails. If you did leave the answering service a message then we would have a computer print out record of the call with time, date and issue for your call them would have been returned promptly the next morning. If you requested a call back that afternoon a text to my phone will promt me to call you within mnutes of the call . I will give you my personel Cell number on the email in hopes that if anyone has an issue in reaching my office they can contact me directly. #301-346-9858 . I have my office manager researching all of the files in an attempt to find any record of the calls our office. I called on a Monday morning and explained that my ac was not working. Deanna contacted a technician who was out in the field, who said he's let her know when he was nearly done with that job. Deanna then told me she'd give me a half hour notice to make the 10 minute drive home and meet him. Within 45 minutes, she called back and I returned home to find him already in my driveway! This was a far cry from spending my whole morning waiting for the repairman! German was pleasant and efficient. Within half an hour, the problem was fixed. I am astonished and pleased by such prompt and cordial service!

It went well, it was a complicated situation which they helped simplify. The building preferred to have another company do the work and they worked around it.
Description of Work: Replaced a convector unit in apartment without shutting off the water. They save me hundereds and the residents the hassel of having the water shut off. Pleasant to deal with and the workers were good, in a stressful situation.

Technician showed up and right away noticed the pipes were frozen. So he turned on the heat, then he added freon. It cost too much, but the technician was very helpful, quick, and professional.

Late Wednesday afternoon we came home to find our AC not functioning. I called several firms on Angie's List until I found one that could provide service the next day, Thursday. Jolles' service person didn't quite make the scheduled window but once he got here he quickly diagnosed the problem, showed me the damaged capacitor, replaced it, checked the freon, had a look at the overall system, pronounced it sound, and was off. Very polite. Very efficient.

Plumber called. Didn't want to do the on-site estimate. Gave an estimate over the phone. Was belligerent about it, said the scheduler should not have scheduled the estimate in the first place. Would not repair any damage to drywall if we had the work done. Not very professional - should be part of the job to make the job site as it was found. Update: All we wanted was an estimate to fix a refrigerator line. The company scheduled the in home estimate but the estimator refused to visit the home and said that a visit should not have been scheduled and that they don't get paid for estimates. The estimator did NOT offer to recommend a company to repair the drywall. There was no ulterior motive other than to get a complete estimate, which would have been hard without visiting the home. We only asked if they had to cut into the drywall if they would repair it. I had to take time off to be there for the estimate and when the estimator called and told me that he wasn't coming on the day it was scheduled I may have been taken aback, but I was not rude. The estimator did NOT visit the home to see what was needed to make the repair. The company should stop blaming a customer. It has been very hard to find full service companies.

Told client we do not give written estimate for normal service work. We do this so that simple work does not cost the client excessive dollars. Client wanted us to repair drywall after repairs if we made hole in the ceilings.. Tried to tell client we would only recommend a company to do the work as we do not like to handle the repairs because if we do we need to add a markup for our over head. Was trying to save client money by stating we could do the work under a normal service call and gave a price of approximatly $300. for what it would cost. Client seems to have other motives regarding this estimate. Stated we only give estimates for installation of equipment, ie water heater, furnaces airconditioners ect. Client was very rude and I would not feel comfortable as a company doing work for clients like this. Its a shame she felt she had to report negivtivley when all we were trying to do is save someome a few dollars.I would not recomend this client to other firms to do work for. They were really great, very responsive and came out promptly after I called. I didn’t use their services because they needed cash upon delivery (Minimum $1500, so I wasn't prepared to pay that amount upon delivery), but the price was right in line where it should’ve been based on other estimates that I got. The technicians were very customer-oriented, responsive, and knowledgeable; I had a very positive experience with them. I would use them again.

Both the technician Sean, and the Owner, Hal kept in regular contact with me regularly to let me know what was going on and what steps were being taken. I am a landlord, so it was helpful to get updates since I was not physically at the location. Additionally, Dina who answered the phone when I first called also kept my tenant regularly informed about what was going on. I really appreciated the frequent updates. After it was repaired, my tenant still said he was getting cold air inside, so they sent someone over again at no additional charge to check up on everything. Overall I was very pleased with the responsiveness to the problem, the great customer service I receive from initial phone call through the end.
Description of Work: The heat pump had frozen over, and I expected to be told we would need to replace the heat pump and furnace. Instead, I was told the fan and the motor was broken.

I found the tech punctual, friendly ,and competant.He was on time, or early for the initial service call ,and the final repair. Other than having to order the part,or having it be done free, I cant imagine a better experience. I certainly will use this service again, if I ever need a/c or furnace work. Tech included a comment on my receipt that should be helpful with my insurance.He wrote to the effect that his opinion was that the sloppy theft of my outside a/c unit (cutting the wires) caused the short that toasted the control board inside.Lastly ,he closed off ,and taped up the wiring and tubing the thieves leaft outside......pending the new unit I will get next spring. Yes I will contact this shop again for that work. Thanks,this is why I joined Angies List.

When the appointment was made, Jolles Brothers arrived with the new unit. They took away the old one, put in the new one and, voila!, it was done. Half of the cost was due upfront and balance due upon installation. They also said to call the office for a technical check in about three months when summer was underway so the unit could be adjusted, if needed. They were prompt about responding to my request for an appointment. Due to the nature of their work, they often are not prompt in their arrival times, but often work with a four-hour window of time.
Description of Work: Most recent service was to replace a home air conditioner this Spring. Since I have used Hal Jolles' services for nearly 20 years, both at a non-profit organization and at home, he advised me when the air conditioner would need replacement with nearly a year's notice. Jolles Bros. (also known now as JBI) also provides customer service contracts, which are reasonably priced. They send out reminders when Spring and Fall checks are due. Office staff is always courteous and helpful. Hal is very personable and knowledgeable.
