Terrific, would definitely recommend Mr. Nestor Gomez and his crews! They were extremely busy so I had to be flexible and patient in terms of getting all the various pieces of the work completed, but Mr. Gomez ensured that the most immediate need - the safety hazard of the crumbling steps and entry to the English basement apartment - were made a top priority. We were in the middle of a rain deluge when we first tried to schedule the work so had to delay a few days but of course that was unavoidable given the nature of the work that needed to be done. And the first day we had a break in the weather they came out and performed the work. It's beautifully done, thank you Mr. Gomez!
Description of Work: Extensive repointing and concrete work of exterior basement brick stairs, iron work bannister repair, power washing and concrete repair at basement entryway.

I called to set up an appointment. A GO Contractors representative came over and estimated the job. I schedule to have the work done in two weeks. Two week later, Nestor came over, but realized he made a mistake in scheduling. Therefore, I scheduled again in the following two weeks. The work people were late and the GO Contractors representative didn't call until I called him. I told the GO Contractors representative how important it is to call to let me know your status if you are late. He understood. When the GO Contractors showed up, they got right to work. They did a GREAT job with the brick. It was well sealed and enhanced the value of our home. The only concern was the white residue on the front brick when they were done. I haven't made any attempt to wash it off, so I don't know if it is permanent. If the communication was better, I would have given them a higher rating.
Description of Work: They repair one sloping face at the base of our chimmeny. They repointed the front brick around the stoop. They mortarred the brick around the stoop below the front door to prevent seepage of water into the lower level.

T he contractor did a great job. My driveway looks fantastic and so does the masonary work. All the work took a week to complete but we sought of knew that before the work began. The contractor did my driveway first and then the masonary work. The loose bricks was work I had put off getting repaired for a while. I decided to go ahead and get it repaired now along with getting a new driveway. My old driveway had cracked up because whoever put it in, we found out, did not put something called a leveler in and thus, the cracks. G.O. Contractors Group, LTD put one in so I don't expect my new driveway to crack up like the old one did. The workers arrived every morning between 8:00 and 9:00 and I could continue to go to work every day. Fortunately, the weather held out so they could do the work without interruption.
Description of Work: Masonary work to replace loose bricks on my fireplace, mailbox, and three brick planters and a ledge in my back yard, power washing my entire house and mailbox, cement the space between my steps on the front porch and walk way, and dig up and replace my concrete driveway.

We learned of this contractor through Angie's List Big Deal. This is the first time we used this method. We purchased the coupon at the end of May and were in no big rush to get the job done, since the coupon was good for a year. When we did place a call, around the middle to end of July, to schedule the work, we got an answering machine message saying our call would be returned that evening after 7:00 p.m. Having not heard back after a week or so, we called again and got the same message. On August 16th, we called again --this time after 7:00 p.m., hoping to get Nestor Gomez in person. We did not get a call back that evening, but the following day Nestor called and came by to take a look at what needed doing and to schedule the work for the next day (August 18th). The 18th came and went, but nobody showed, and nobody called. By August 22nd, we still had not heard back from Nestor, so we called once again and left a message asking him to call back to reschedule the work. He called later that evening to say that he had us scheduled for the following morning, Tuesday, August 23rd. A crew of two did, indeed, show up shortly after 9:00 the following morning, and completed the work at around 4:00 p.m. Payment was made in full right after completion of the work. However, my husband didn't realize that no receipt was given. We have emailed Mr. Gomez several times asking him to mail or email us an invoice marked "paid" for our records, which he agreed to do, but we are still waiting. Bottom line, the workmanship was good, but responsiveness could be improved upon.
Description of Work: Removal of old grout/mortar in two old settlement cracks on front brickwork near second floor windows of house; removal of cracked bricks; reinstallation of new, matching bricks and pointing up mortar and joints through old cracks. Matched up, as closely as possible, the color of the mortar to tie in with seventy-six-year-old mortar (they did quite well in this regard).

I was satisfied with the job they had done. I paid them $555.00 up front and the day the project was completed I paid them in full an additional $1,110.00. Mr. Gomez also agreed to replace 3 other flagstones which were not part of the original project (see enclosed receipt). Any extra stones would cost extra. The first three he brought absolutely did not match the beige flagstone in the original hardscape. After much ado trying to get the right color his men came out with a dark orange flagstone which is also unacceptable. Even Mr. Gomez could not believe what they brought back the second time. He had a sample piece which I agreed was a good match. I could not understand why they returned with pieces of flagstone that in no way matched the sample piece. After a third try two men came out. One stayed and started to remove the orange flagstones and the other went to pick, with the sample, the replacement stones. He returned about an hour later with no stones at all. They left me with a broken flagstone which they had started to take out. And never returned my call or gave any indication as to what they planned to do next. I have not heard from them since. I have told you pretty much what happened but I have not mentioned the number of times I called and left messages and got no response, the number of times we scheduled appointments to come to replace began in late July and I pursued this through all of August and part of September.
Description of Work: In July of this year, 2011, I contracted a masonry business, G.O. Contractors Group Ltd., to do some work on the flagstone hardscape around my swimming pool. This contact was made through the recommendation of Angie’s List of which I am a member. Mr. Nestor Gomez, who runs the business, came out and agreed to do the project. Shortly thereafter his crew came out and finished the project in one day.

I bought the Angie's List big deal for 4 hours of masonry work. I originally Emailed the company and did not get a response. Shortly thereafter I called, left a message, and received a call back within 24 hours. Nestor Gomez is the owner and all of my communications were entirely with him. We scheduled a time for him to come out and assess the work. He took a look and told me he'd come back with his team and a ladder. He explained that he has four different teams. A few days later we scheduled a time for him to come out and give me an estimate. Right when he got on the roof with a team member, it started to thunderstorm, but he took the time to assess the work and gave me an informal estimate of $435 on top of the $99 I already paid Angie's List. The $99 would go toward the exterior work and the interior crack. The $435 would go toward the chimney repointing and replacement of the chimney crown (which was in pieces). He Emailed me the quote that night, which was pretty informal, but I trusted the work would be completed. His team came the next day and performed the work. I went up on the roof when they were finished to inspect the job. Two corners of the crown needed to be completed and some of the bricks still needed repointing. His team spoke little English so I waited for him to get back to my house to inspect. I explained what needed to be finished and they finished it. He was fairly responsive via cell phone the day of the work, but there was a period where I could not get ahold of him to explain that the job was not completed. He was consistently late to the various in-person meetings we had, which was fine because I have a flexible work schedule and live 5 minutes from my job, but anyone who might have problems with time off would find themselves frustrated. It was clear that he was a little overwhelmed by the Angie's List response, however he is good intentioned and a nice guy. Most importantly, I think I got a really good rate for the work. If you are willing to be patient and advocate for yourself by double-checking the work, I think you might be able to get a great deal with Nestor, but I definitely felt the need to inspect and had to take more than a couple hours off work to meet him and verify that thw rosk was complete. I would use him again though because once the Angie's List big deal dies down, I think he'll be less overwhelmed and have more time to supervise his team.
Description of Work: Chimney crown replaced. Chimney bricks repointed. Repointing of some exterior bricks. Foundation crack in masonry blocks filled. Front stoop cracks repaired.

Mr. Gomez was going to call me at work and I was to meet them at my house. They were delayed. When they arrived we reviewed what was going to be done. I repeatedly said to Mr. Gomez that I only wanted them to work 2 hours. They ended up working 4hrs. They re-pointed around all the windows, that I indicated in the 1st meeting with Mr. Gomez didn't need to be done. I didn't tell them to stop as I thought that Mr. Gomez would tell them only to work 2 hrs. He apparently wanted me to tell them to stop. When Mr. Gomez returned, we re-negotiated the work and I paid an additional $162 which included the materials.I would recommend that in the future everyone makes sure everyone is very clear on how things should proceed. The workers did a good job. It wasn't excellent because I had to go around and wipe joint material off bricks and smooth some of the points. Overall, I was satisfied.
Description of Work: I signed up for this through a coupon special, 4hours of masonry work for $99. I met with Mr Gomez and we reviewed the "Brick pointing" that needed to be done on my house. I indicated that I did not need pointing of the bricks around the windows as I would be replacing the windows. He said it would be 1 person for 4hrs or 2 people for 2hours. I told him I only wanted the amount of work that could be done in the 1person for 4hrs or 2people for 2hrs as indicated in the special. We scheduled the appointment.

I spoke with the individual in charge twice after emailing him and leaving several messages. He told me that they had a huge response to their Angie's List offer and were planning to get back to me within a week. Then he told me the same thing the next time I called. He was supposed to come by that week and give me an estimate but I never heard from him again. I believe that no one should advertise a special that they can't fulfill. If a company is too small to service a request then they have no business representing that they can.

This was my first time responding and using a "big deal" offer. I don't think I'll do that again because checking on the site a few days after the "big deal" deadline, the offer was still available. Soon after I signed up for the "big deal" I called and scheduled the appointment and that happened about 2-3 days later which I appreciated. I wanted to do some additional work and discussed all of the details with the owner. I asked for a contract with the full pricing and details of the job. He included the details but not the pricing. I had to call a few times to request it and never got it until the job was done...so the price was a bit of a surprise. He seems to have a good, strong knowledge of masonry work which I also appreciated. Had I know that I would have been able to call the references well in advance instead of the same day. I also asked for a copy of the license and did not see that until the same day. The references checked out ok but I had to do it at the last minute. They did all the work in the same day as they said but they need to do a much better job of clean up. Not definite on yes or no to hire again.
Description of Work: I had to huge gaps and a few other cracks in the concrete walls of my garage. I had a concrete brick pillar that need to be refilled and parged, and another smaller brick wall I wanted parged. The work was done very well. The overall quality looks good, but time will tell in the real quality.

They did a quality job in terms of repair they did. I have no complains. They did a good job. When they were doing the work, it started raining but they still finished the job. I really appreciated that. The one thing that they didn’t do was to remove the garbage; probably it was because of the rain. They contacted us and were timely. There weren’t late. They really did a good job for a good price. I actually saw company who was charging more for the same job. I would definitely use them in the future.

I give Go Contractors full marks for responsiveness and promptness. Nestor Gomez (head of the company) came to see me the day after I called and the job was done just a few days later. Nestor was polite and professional and very ready to work with me and anxious to make sure I was satisfied with everything. The final product was also very good , so on the whole I was quite satisfied. They work team made a bit more of a mess than I thought necessary during the work but did a good job of cleaning up afterwards, including throwing in a pressure wash of part of the walkway. Although I consider the final product to be "A" quality I didn't feel I could give an overall rating of "A" because there were a few things which I had to ask them to fix or re-do. For example, the workers covered up a lot of the stone surfaces with mortar which I asked them to remove so the stones were more visible, and at first the steps were not all the same height and had to be re-adjusted. Nestor was not with the team most of the time they were working - otherwise I think he would have spotted these problems and corrected them without my asking. Certainly he didn't argue at all about these points and made sure everything was fixed up right before they finished. I would use the company again but I would try to make sure I was home and keep an eye on things as the work progressed, to make sure all was done as I wanted it from the beginning, rather than having to fix problems.

I got off to a very rocky start with this company. The owner initially failed to show up for several appointments. But eventually we did connect and two workers repointed about 40 or 50 linear ft of deteriorated mortar in a brick retaining wall and also replaced 4 or 5 damaged bricks. I had expected that my Angie's List "Big Deal" would cover about half of the work. It did not, by a long shot. I expressed my displeasure at the price to the owner, Mr. Gomez. He agreed to do some additional work on the steps for the price he charged me for the retaining wall. The quality of the work seems to be good and Mr. Gomez seemed to be concerned that I was not happy about the cost. In the end we worked out a mutually satisfactory deal. So I suppose all is well that ends well. My advice to anyone who has a "Big Deal" with this company is to get a written estimate up front as to the total cost of any work to be undertaken, including the level of effort covered by the Big Deal, so that there will not be any misunderstandings similar to the one that I had.

I bought an Angie’s List deal that cost $99 for two masons for two hours. The idea was that they would repair the grout on my brick patio. They were to come remove the caulking I had used and the cracked grout and then replace the grout. It was difficult to come to an agreement about when they would show up because we would set things up and then they wouldn’t come. Someone came out to get another look at the job before they started and he recommended that I pressure wash the patio first so I paid him $225 to do that. He showed up with a crew of people later than they said they would but it went well. They were supposed to come back in a few days once it was dry, but that dragged on for a long time and they didn’t come out at the times that we had scheduled. They were supposed to come yesterday at 8:00 am but they finally got here at 5:00. It was two Hispanic laborers and I could only barely communicate with one of them. They worked fairly well and they got the grout cleared out but it took three men an extra hour and a half beyond the estimated two hours. I called the boss, who responded very quickly this time, and he told me that he charged $60 per person per hour and then $40 for materials. That is an extra $250. He didn’t clean off all of the dust from getting the grout out and I don’t know how long it’ll be there. The bottom line is that they didn’t come when they said they would, the job was done two weeks late, and the new grout doesn’t match the old grout although I believe the work was done competently. They didn’t clean up the job site the way that they should have. This is a company that I wouldn’t want to do more business with.

The final product is beautiful. Nestor is a seasoned professional and very easy to work with. He is a perfectionist and that was appreciated. His crew did good work, but we would have liked to have seen a better cleanup of the stone and concrete-related material that remained on the ground under bushes near the stoop. This was a minor factor, which will not interfere with hiring Go Contractors Group again in the future, but something they will want to consider as they expand their business. We highly recommend them for masonry jobs and hope to retain them in the future for additional work.
Description of Work: We originially arranged for another company to give an estimate on redoing our front stoop and fortifying a retaining wall. That company referred us to Nestor Gomez's company, GO Contractors Group LTD. Nestor came and assessed the work, and emailed an estimate the following day which was in line with another company's estimate. Ultimately we went with GO Contractors Group as they were able to start work sooner and we were satisfied with their diligence and professionalism. The existing concrete stoop was in need of much repair. We chose a stone pattern and provided a picture to Nestor. He carefully matched his materials with the visualization. We also had two black railings that were embedded in crumbling concrete. He removed the railings, cut the rusted iron and soddered new bases before placing back into the stoop. They also had to work with our front door so that the extra inch of stone would not interfere with the door movement. They had to remove the decorative brass foot base to give the extra room that was needed. We also had a slab of new concrete replace the existing broken base which was located under the first step. The entire job took 3 days, and this included repair of a stone retaining wall. All went as planned except the retaining wall which required more than the 3 feet of work as originally planned and thus additional funds were budgeted. Nestor came out with his crew 2 weeks after the job was done to put final touches on the stoop, including matching all the masonry inseems around the railings which could not be done at the time of the original placement of the railings.

I highly recommend G.O. Contractors. I found everyone involved in the company to be trustworthy, reliable, and thorough. Their work product was excellent and priced well below the competition. We have a courtyard in Dupont that has been a garden then modified into a playhouse for our children, 25 years ago. Finally wanting to have a concrete pad poured in order to clad it with stone down the line, we attempted to acquire bids from 4 firms. One firm said the job was too small for them and the other 2 firms had bids well above what G.O. bid on the job. The job involved an area that was 22'x20' and had existing concrete that looked like Roman ruins, a patch of soil that was 6'x20', a century of English Ivy that we did not want to lose, and an existing fence that was to be removed. Four tons of existing concrete were removed and the soil level was brought down to level with the removed concrete area. Great care was taken in saving the English Ivy, including making forms to isolate the roots from the new concrete. A trough drain pipe was to be installed coming off of an existing drain that had been plugged for 40 years. G.O. Contractors dug a trench that was 7' deep, 8' long, 4 ' wide to access the trap that was stuffed with decades of trash that an auger could not penetrate. Our wishes of having our plumber handle the problem were respected by Mr. Gomez and his crew took care of the excavation. The excavated material had to be moved several times, so that we could have our precious garage parking back. The crew was very understanding about the premium on parking and didn't hesitate to move the excavated soil until the drain could be opened and the trench filled. All was done carefully and with our convenience in mind. To add to the problem of getting the drain working, it was Spring and the contractor had to work around Mother Nature's rain schedule. Although our job was considered small, the problem of working in the city in an enclosed area highlighted the quality of work that was done. All of the work had to be done by hand including wheel barreling in all of the stones and concrete through our garage. All of the work was done meticulously and followed the contract exactly. Clean-up work was started immediately upon completion of the installation. Despite working under less than perfect conditions, the whole crew was amiable at all times. As a result of this highly satisfactory experience, we now plan to use G.O. Contractors to do any more masonry work we may have.
Description of Work: Old concrete and soil were removed in order to pour a concrete pad. A trough drain and forms were installed before the concrete was poured. A concrete pad was poured over wire mesh and a stone base. The concrete was finished and clean-up started immediately.
