They were wonderful. They did exactly what we needed. They replaced a brick in the hearth of our fireplace. They put slates back onto the seating area of our patio wall. They did a fantastic job. They did exactly what I needed in the time allotted. They were prompt and courteous.
Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal. They sent two men for two hours of masonry work.

Nestor and his crew did a fantastic job repointing cracks in my 1950's split level home as well as repairing a large patio wall and replacing some bricks and re-doing the crown of the chimney. I purchased one of the "big deal" specials. Realizing that he would likely be very busy....I was very happy with the responsiveness and the high quality of work was that done. I had an estimate within two weeks and actually signed up to have even more done. From call to estimate to job completion the work everything was done within three weeks. I highly recommend the firm.

I had purchased a masonry repair deal and was unable to make arrangements for the work to be done. I know that the scheduling for a deal can be challenging for a small business. I've seen other sites set up online scheduling that can assist with the challenge of scheduling a high volume of business.

After an excessive delay of communication from his side of about 6 weeks (you know about that), finally Mr. Gomez came punctually for his appointment, was very professional and polite, also apologizing for the delay. After looking at the proposed job (replacing the top layer of damaged bricks on an outside barbeque and its chimney) he calculated his total projected cost with $1,150 (the bricks needed would be supplied by me), subtracted the stated value of the coupon ($250) and after deducting another 10% for my being a member of Angie's List arrived at an additional $810 needed to do a first-class clean job. I told Mr. Gomez that I did not at all expect such an additional amount and would have to think it over. A few days later I obtained a second estimate for the same job from another recommended bricklayer: $250 total! The next day that second bricklayer and his partner completed the entire job in less than 4 hours. I did have to clean up after them, but for that saving I did not mind too much. - Now I would like to get a refund for the unused coupon.
Description of Work: I could not use the $99 coupon for 4 hours of masonry work since the estimate of the total additional cost was too high.

I'd actually give GO Contractors an A-/B+ for overall experience. Nestor Gomez and his team were really great from start to finish. The brick repair work that we originally hired GO Contractors to do was the result of long term water damage caused by a small roof leak. When Nestor came to assess the situation, he quickly recognized the problem and suggested that we have the roof repaired first (by another company) so that the water issue wouldn't quickly destroy the work we were hiring him to do. I deeply appreciated both his insight and his integrity to not rush his job to make a quick buck when the underlying problem was there. We worked with our roofer to repair the roof, and then had Nestor's team come in to do the brick and plaster repair. His team did a solid job. They got the job done quickly, neatly, and on budget, and did very nice work. The only small negative I'd give to Quality was that the new mortar color was fairly different from the pre-existing color, so the repaired areas stand out a bit more than I would have preferred from the original work. That was the only downside. And the only reason I gave any negative on the Responsiveness was that we completed half the job toward the end of 2011 (very quickly after we originally scheduled the project), but Nestor was out of the country for the first few months of 2012, so there was a lengthier break than I would have liked to finish the job. As soon as Nestor got back though, he was quick to schedule and complete the job. Overall, I really liked GO Contractors, and have just recently hired them again to do some additional brick repair work. Stay tuned for a rating change -- because if the job goes as well as the first one and it's completed in a more timely fashion, I'd be happy to up my grade for responsiveness.

On Sept 5th i performed another inspection and noticed that an area along the stairs wasn't completed. I contacted GO Contractors and informed the appt manager of the situation. I was contacted a month later and GO contractors came out and looked at the uncompleted area. GO contractors stated they would schedule a day to come out and complete the project. As of today I'm still waiting for GO contractors to schedule a date to complete the project.
Description of Work: Company Rep scheduled an appt to come out and look at the Steps and Carport Wall. Upon arrival CR gave me and estimate of the services he would perform and how long the services would take. Upon inspection the work was done very well. Upon further inspection I informed the CR that they had missed a small area of the steps.a zmonth later CR stated they would come back out to look at the area that was missed. CR came out and looked at the missed area and stated they would schedule a date to due the repair. As of today I'm still waiting on GO contractors to complete the project.

The actual work done by Go Contractors was first rate and neat. The brick work on my outside stairway is really nice. The problem I had was actually having them show up to do the work in a timely manner. If these people could clean up their scheduling and responsiveness, they would no doubt get a ton of business as their work is really nice once they actually arrive. I hope for their sake that they get their act together as they seem to be nice guys in addiction, perhaps inadequately staffed to meet demand.

I purchased the 4 hour special deal. At first I did not realize that there was a short deadline but the owner was flexible enough to extend the date. There was some trouble scheduling but finally we did get together. I showed the task in descending order of importance and asked for an estimate to build a retaining wall. Again scheduling the work to be done was difficult. When the day arrived for them to do the work they did not show up and I never got notification that they were coming. one of the minor corrections was to make some minor repairs to the entrance of the garage floor. well since I did not know they had come I drove in the garage leaving marks. the next day I realized that they had come nd inspected the work. it was and is of really poor quality. When I contact the owner he left me a vm that I could not understand but basically said that the problem he saw was that the cement was of a very different color ignoring the sloppiness of the job. I never received the quote.

I call this company right after buying the Big Deal coupon. The owner was very responsive and came over to see what needed to be done. He said it could be done in the allotted time. I did not get to schedule the actual work for several months because of travel plans and when I tried to get in touch with the company later in the summer, there was some difficulty getting them to call me back. Finally I was able to schedule the appointment and 2 men came to my house. I showed them the places where the mortar needed repairing and pointed out one spot that water was coming through the wall because the mortar had weathered away all the way through. In order to repair this, some soil would need to be dug out. I had a shovel there. They acted like they would not do that part but I just left the shovel there and went inside. When they were done (it took less than an hour) they knocked on the door to let me know they were leaving. It ended up that they did dig some of the soil out so they could repair the wall from both sides. I don't know if they went all the way down to the base, but water is not coming through there any more. My only complaint is that after the mortar dried overnight, there is quite a bit of mortar on top of the bricks that needs to be cleaned off. This does not look nice and I think you have to use muriatic acid to remove this residue. I am glad this was only done on my carport and not on the front of my house.

I like their work. It was an angie's list special for $99 for 2 hours. I had the initial consultation. It took a while to get service. I was busy and their were busy. After the initial consultation I never heard back from them for a long time. Finally i contacted them and they remembered. They did the work and did not charge me anything extra for the materials. Work they did looks very good. I will definitely contact them again when I have some more work to do around the house... I think that they are so busy that they somehow can lose track of the clients... But no big deal...
Description of Work: They applied concrete on top of a brick stoop. Some of the bricks where starting to crack and instead of fixing and replacing the bricks I just decided it would be easier to just patch and cover everything so it is nice and sealed

Nestor Gomez of GO Contractors contacted me immediately after I reported to Angie's List that I had not heard from them after purchasing my coupon. They made an immediate appointment to repair my chimney which needed repointing and flashing repair. Their estimate was very fair. They did a very good job and were able to finish the project within several hours that day (a Sunday). I am very pleased with the result and would recommend them to anyone who needs brick work done.
Description of Work: I am still waiting for GoContractors to call me. They have never called me after I purchased my coupon on 10/16/12. Please check and see if they plan to contact me. Otherwise, I'll have to ask for a refund of the $99 offer. Thanks. Marie Koneczny. After contacting Angie's List with the above report, GO Contractors contacted me and was able to take care of my project promptly and efficiently.

lssThe workers arrived at 9 am, used this machine to cut into the grout between the bricks, and replaced it with new grout. There were a number of places where the cement blocks under some of the steps and wall were corroding and that was fixed. We also had 5 pipes put into the wall to drain off the water to lessen any chance of water pressure building up behind the walls. They finished all this work by 5 pm the same day. It looks to me like everything is now stable. We may use them in the future
Description of Work: We needed work done on the brickwork on our steps leading down to the basement of our house. 6 of the bricks were cracking, the grout between the bricks needed to be replaced and there was some eating away of the cement blocks holding up the brick steps and a part of one of the walls. The owner came out, checked what we needed doing and then, later, set up a date for the following Monday.

We had purchased a big deal for three hours work. With the G.O representative, we discussed best way to repair brick front porch where the bricks on landing were uneven and where some bricks on first step were separating. We were told it was best to reuse bricks for the sake of retaining color consistency. Initially we were to include a railing but evidently subcontractor did not agree to price. (We dealt with him separately, His work was satisfactory.) We were told the job would take two days and they would then return in a few days to powerwash the front steps. The work was done in one day. They came back a few days later to powerwash but not at the time indicated (late afternoon rather than morning). No call was made to indicate this. When I looked at the bricks after the powerwash, I noted one brick on top landing, in center, had a noticeable gouge.(The bricks were not put back exactly where they had been.) I expressed some concern but the main worker seemed unperturbed by my concern. I paid him the final payment but said I would reserve the right to call the representative about this. My husband did call. It took several calls to get him out to the house. He agreed to fill in this gouge as well as several indentations in the bricks. He said he was doing a job in the area and would send someone over. No one has ever come. Since I did not get any other estimates, it is difficult to ascertain the fairness of the price. I am giving the grade on the basis of one day's work rather than two as had been told. I presume the pointing of the bricks at top of house is satisfactory but cannot really see this up close. My main complaint is that they said they would come back but never did.

I was told just installing the slates on the wall would take a full day, they finished everything in a couple of hours. Tuck and pointing job was very sloppy, had to come back to complete the work, and adjust the mortar color. Grey mortar (cement?) was used for the slate on the wall and the tuck-pointing, and the cement patching, although addressing three different type of material and colors. They came back to adjust the color for the tuck and pointing job to yellow mortar (!) instead of grey (or beige as it should have), and to finish the tuck-and pointing. An open space used for storage next to the tuck and point job ended up full of wet dust, covering everything stored there....
Description of Work: Had about 14 (8 pieces existing) pieces of slate installed on the top of en existing wall, some tuck and pointing and cement cracks to fill.

I saw the “Deal” and contacted GO Contractors re: doing some point work on my house. My home inspector has said the chimney needs to be pointed and there is crack in the brick on the front and numerous holes in the brick and mortar from previous owner and tenants phone and cable lines. Mr. Gomez came to my house to look at these. I’m a do-it-yourselfer when I can handle the job, and mentioned all the other jobs I was in the process of and will be doing. He came back with a $4000+ proposal for everything I was doing and planned to do. I made it clear that I was only interested in the point work. He accepted that, gave me a price for the materials (minimal) and said he would send 2 men out on a Thursday. Told me I needed to have electricity and water available, which I did. It was dark when I left for work and dark when I returned, but with my porch light, it didn’t appear that any work was done. I waited until Saturday to confirm the work in daylight and verified that the work wasn’t done. I contacted Mr. Gomez and told him that no work was done. He said he’d check with the guys he had sent. Several days later he got back to me and suggested another date but I had already contacted Angie’s List re: a refund on the Deal. At this point, it was getting too cold for the mortar to cure properly and I don’t want to have to do this again in another year.

I bought the Angie's List Big Deal for 4 hours of Masonry work for $99. Mr. Gomez, the owner, quoted me a price of $450 to have 2 guys show up to fix my brick grill and front step. My brick grill has been falling apart, with loose bricks for some time. The two workers showed up promptly on the designated day and worked for 6 hours on the jobs. They fixed the grill by taking the bricks apart on the top third or half of the grill, cleaning out the old mortar, and replacing the bricks with new mortar. They put new mortar on the crack on the front stoop. Some white residue remained after they left, so I called Mr. Gomez and he had them come back and they sprayed off the white residue.

See above. Go Contractors are unprofessional and inconsiderate in their dealings with customers. You should put them in the penalty box so others no you can't count on them and they do not care enough about customers to contact you.
Description of Work: Too much time has passed for me to remember dates but here is a chronology:- - Received Angie's list email coupon - Initiated coupon - 3 to 4 days passed then Go Contractors contacted me and we schedule an appointment for them to repoint mortar on fireplace. - I took several hours off from work the morning of the appointment, no one showed I called several times and never got an answer. - I Left message on their answering machine and gave them a deadline to contact me and if they did not I wanted cancel the job. - Never heard from them. - Called Angie's list and cancelled the job and asked for a refund which eventually showed up on my credit card. - The time I took off cost me more than cost of planned job.

The purchase was for $99 chimney repair. Came and said could do work and we asked how much for some additional concrete work on steps and patio. Gave an excellent quote so asked to schedule it. We were told he'd like to wait a couple of days until he got at least one more customer in our area. A month later we had to call back at least two times to get them to finally respond and send a crew to do the work. We would have rated them all A's if they had come when promised. The price and work are very good. As a result we didn't recommend them to a neighbor who wanted a new patio and driveway.
Description of Work: Came to do $99 worth of chimney. Gave additional bid on more work on patio and front steps. They did the chimney, eventually, as well as repairing cracks in patio and front steps.
