It was fine. I had to follow up with them. However, when they came out they did what we wanted them to do.

No work was actually done! All that was done is my paying for a coupon which now is useless and two frustrating phone conversations with the contractor.
Description of Work: This was a total fiasco! After I purchased the "Big Deal" coupon I contacted the contractor to schedule the estimate. He initially complained that I lived too far from his office and it would required too much travel. After some discussion he agreed to schedule a visit for a estimate. On the scheduled date I was at home waiting for him to arrive between 8:00am an 9:30am, as he had agreed to. When, at 10am he had not arrived or contacted me I called him. He said that he couldn't do the estimate or the work because it was too far for him to travel. I told him that his listing did not include anything about the worksite having to be in any particular area or that any National Capitol area was not included. He had no response to that. I asked him why he had not called to cancel the appointment and he had no answer. I asked him what I should do now, having spent the money for the Coupon which only included his company as the provider. He said I should contact Angie's List and ask for a refund. I have done that and have not heard anything yet, 24 hours after the message was sent to them.

They sent two people and only one actually did anything so I really only got 2 hours of service. The caulking on the wall did not look very good. There were edges showing and it was zig zagging. It looked very unprofessional all the way around.

The guys at GO contractors did an excellent job. We hired them to fix dry wall in several areas (we have an old house with uneven walls) and to paint the main floor and top floor. They were on time (and early most days). Their attention to detail was excellent. They did great work. There is only one small comment I would make, although they covered furniture and used drop clothes, there was a lot of dust in the house. It would have probably been good to use plastic to block off the bedrooms/kitchen to limit the spread of dust. Other than that, it was a perfect job!

this was an Angie's List Big Deal special for 4 hours of drywall repair for $125 that ended up costing $495, and with very disappointing results. During the initial inspection/quote process, they informed me that since my project was in the stairwell, they would need 2 people to get to the required height, and there would be an additional charge of $180. I ok'd this, and scheduled the work for 2 days later. When the workmen arrived, they came unprepared - they didn't bring a ladder that would reach the height needed. So, for the first hour of work, I only had one person working while the other left to get a ladder. I was informed that it would take them longer than they thought, and now the additional charge would be $360 (not $180). I ok'd that, since they were already mid-work. After 4.5 hours of work, they were only able to repair the drywall, but not finish painting as planned. They wanted me to pay more to finish painting, which I declined. Their ladders left marks on the wall, which will need to be painted over. The painting they did finish was sloppy and I will need to redo the entire stairwell anyway. They neglected to cover and protect much surface outside of the immediate work area, and my house was left covered in a sheer of drywall dust. They hand dusted and wiped down much of the area, but didn't vacuum and most of the area within 20 feet is covered in a layer of dust that I had to clean.

It was quite difficult to get someone to call me back however once I did the gentleman came by at the agreed upon time and gave a rough estimate for a few different masonry oriented items and what things he thought that the big deal that I had purchased could be used toward. He said they would come back when it was warmer. One day I just happened to home and I got a knock on my door. It was a little too cold outside and I didn't think it was such a good idea that they do any work on the driveway wall so I had them patch a wall in my basement's concrete block wall. They worked for 3 man hours (1.5x2). I am going to have them return when it is nicer outside and I am not worried about the concrete not curing properly in the driveway. They workmen were very polite. I supplied the concrete in my case because I had it already. I don't know if they would have if I didn't. Also because in my case they had to make some makeshift form-work I don't know what their skill is like yet in terms of finishing.

I called Nestor came over Assessed what could be done and made recommendations We had a long delay because of weather I called to prompt and Nestor assured me I was still in the queue. He sent staff over to handle everything on my schedule . I had estalished what time frames were operational and he worked with me. We had a blast of cold afterwards so we will see if we were successful in optimizing weather concerns I would use him again
Description of Work: Fellow popped in, in the morning ready to go. This was a patch job of tuck pointing so I need the test of time before I give it A . We had to navigate the weather. No drama. straight professionalism in and out the best way to do it! Working around weather was a bear but the vendor was earnest about getting it done in the proper fashion.

I contacted them back in October and someone did come out and give me an estimate with three different prices depending on how much work I wanted done on some stone steps in my backyard. I told him I would have to wait a bit, but would get back with them. When I called a few weeks ago I spoke with a man whose English was not great, but seemed to understand that I wanted to proceed with the cheapest of the three options and would contact me shortly. I have not heard from them since. I have called their number, left messages, and sent an email. Not happy. They did come out again after obviously seeing this review. He then told me he would have his guys here in the next week to do the work. We are on week 3 of them not showing. I am in the process of asking for my money back. Would I use these guys? No Way. Do I trust Angie's List. Not really, no.

This was an Angie's List 4 hrs for $99. masonry task. First visit was pleasant, concise, with a complete evaluation of what work was required. We agreed it was a small job, and he asked to fit the job in around his backlogged schedule, due to weather restrictions. We stayed in good email and phone contact while we tried to schedule around rain and snow. When they finally came, it was ontime, ready to work, they were precise, no surrounding areas were damaged, the area was cleaned up, and I tipped them for good service. I was glad to wait for the contractor with good references from Angie's List.

When I had the 1st mtg with the owner he scoped the work and insisted it would take beyond the 4 hrs I paid for ($125) and I'd have to pay another $90/hr. Then we talked about the work I need done in my kitchen. I provided my email address and asked him to provide a written estimate. Still haven't received, and no longer interested. The two men who can out did good job were efficient with their time. After the men completed the work on my walls the owner called and said I'd have to pay for the additional time. I stated they showed up at 8:50am and left at 11:15am, well under the 4hrs.

Bait and switch "big deal." Although they promised one room of paint, they only agreed to do half a room becuase the stairwell "is difficult." They also wanted to charge extra to do two coats. Finally, it was unclear throughout the process how scheduling worked, and I was shocked to get a phone call one night asking if they could come the next day--despite having told them ahead of time that I'd need advance notice to take time off work. The half a room they painted looks great, but the entire enterprise felt shady and completely lacked professionalism. On the other hand, if you want a job done right and done cheap, they did deliver.

. rkThis was a $99 coupon that advertised 1 man for 4 hours or 2 men for two hours. Mr. Gomez, the owner came on January 16 to survey the scope of what needed to be done and said that he would call me early the next week to set a time for the repair. He did not call so I called him at the end of the week. He said it was too cold to work and that he would wait for warmer weather. A week or so later when warmer weather arrived, I called him and he said that I was on his list and that he would call soon. The call never came. On Saturday, February 16, one month to the day since he first came out, I called again and he assured me that i was on the list and he would call early the following week to set a date. The call never came. On March 8, I got a call from my wife while I was at work saying that workmen were at the house. She said they had called but neither she nor I ever received a call alerting us that they planned to come. If I had gotten a call, I would have stayed home and watched them do the work to make sure that they filled in all the chips. As it turned out, they missed one of the chippped blocks. In summary, this was a very small job that did not require a lot of expertise. However, i felt that the contractor did not pay attention to the importance of just basic communication. Frankly, I began to think that he wasn't going to bother to do the job because it was too small.
Description of Work: Go Contractors Group repaired about 5 small to medium size chips in the masonry party wall separating my townhouse from the ajoining townhouse by building the the cement and shaping it so that it appears as if the blocks are no longer chipped. They also painted the cement to match the rest of the concrete wall with paint that i had on hand.

I bought a deal from Angie's list for GO Contractors to paint one room of my house. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't have too much trouble getting in touch with someone to set up an appointment. A representative from the company came to my house to examine the bathroom and we made a follow-up appointment to actually have it painted. There was a bit of miscommunication on the company's end about the date they were supposed to come to paint, but the painters still were able to come on the day I wanted. On the day of the job, the painters were a few hours late. The painters were pretty quick but I would only say that they did a fair job. After they left, I actually wound up having to touch up a few places myself where they weren't too thorough. Based on that, I don't think I'll be using them again.

When is different color we need to paint two coats for cover very well, that bathroom was color white and she wants to paint color blue and we did it one coat and we need to wait three hours later to paint second coat because the people don't want to pay extra time is not our mistake we like to make good quality work but some times like this job we need to spend more time and costumer needs to pay more. Angie's List had to locate a different painter who was in the area. Mr. Gomez was very difficult to work with. After purchasing the Big Deal ($125 for 4 hours of plaster/drywall repair or 1 room of paint), I emailed to get an appointment. He ignored the dates I said I had available, so we had to back and forth a few times before he scheduled me in at a time when we'd be home. He gave me an hour's window for his possible arrival, and when that hour was up, I had to both call and email to find out if he was going to show up. When he arrived, he had no explanation for not coming in the hour time slot he'd given. He looked at the wall, we agreed on how extensive the separation was, he told me he'd send two guys, that we'd need 1/2 inch drywall, and that his guys would bring the joint compound (included in the price of the coupon). I showed him the joint compound we already had, as well as stating we'd have the drywall, we agreed he'd email me about scheduling the actual job, and he left. A full week later I emailed him to ask if he intended to schedule our job, giving him the days and times of our availability for scheduling; again, he completely ignored our availability. We finally worked out a date, and his email stated that he'd send two guys and that "I will send two men for two hours if they need more time for finish for each person is $90.00 by hour." The coupon states that the price is good for 4 consecutive man hours, and as it wasn't more than a four-hour job, I didn't think it was an issue. Buyer beware: apparently 4 man hours means ONE MAN. Angie's List and/or the Big Deal coupon is not clear about this, which is very frustrating. The two men showed up today, within the hour window Mr. Gomez had given for arrival and were very polite and professional. They did a great job. Unfortunately, they used half the drywall we had on hand, and refused to use our joint compound, and then after talking to Mr. Gomez on the phone, charged me for an entire sheet of drywall and joint compound, as well as telling me I owed $180 in cash for the extra guy. I speak Spanish, and the guy who talked to Mr. Gomez asked if he was sure he needed to charge me for extra time! I then double-checked the coupon for the hour limit (they started at 8:35 and were done at 12:15), and was so taken aback by the additional charges and the phone conversation I heard that I paid for the drywall and joint compound. As I couldn't make sense of the four hour/two hour/extra man thing, I have not paid the extra $180 that Mr. Gomez wants to charge for the work. I did tell him I would call AL to try to figure out what happened with the coupon; it seems that with the extra man charge and the charge for the materials that were supposedly included, he'll get close to the full price that was quoted in the Big Deal ($360). I am really happy with the work, but very unhappy with my Big Deal experience and Mr. Gomez,

We need to have more be careful because jobs like this and costumer like this is never good relationship. This job we did first, cover all area we are going to work, second demolition removal plaster wall is BIG work, then install drywall, WE BOUGHT THIS FROM HOME DEPOT and we use our material because she had just regular join compound WE CAN NOT TO PUT SECOND COAT AND THE SAME TIME and we used easy 20 for dry more fast and then we can able to put two coats for finish plaster work. We spend more time and materials and she don't want to pay EXTRA TIME is not good. I SAY GOD KNOWS HOW MUCH WE WORK AND THE CUSTOMER KNOWS TOO, I DON'T LIKE TO DISCUSS BUT GOD WILL GOING TO HELP WITH US WITH MORE WORK THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR READ THIS MESSAGE.

Mr. Gomez's crew did impeccable work. They had to chip out the old, spalled brick and work new brick into it. The new bricks did not precisely match the old brick, but that is of little consequence since the areas involved are hidden from view. It may be that time will age the facings to match. In addition, I cannot see exactly where they repointed the rest of the bricks, meaning they did a terrific job matching the concrete.
Description of Work: I originally purchased an Angie's list discount for a few hours of masonry work at a very reasonable price, perhaps a few hundred dollars. I don't recall the exact details because this occurred several months ago and I forgot to write a review until now, mid-March 2013. My job required more work than the discount covered, so company owner Nestor Gomez and I worked out what I believe is a fair price that included the discount. I spent $1,323 for a crew of four for about 8-9 hours on a Saturday in December. The men replaced several spalled bricks on the wall of the storage space beneath my townhouse front entrance. The facings had fallen off many of the bricks over the years because of heat and humidity accumulation in the storage space. The masons also installed vents in the brick walls to allow the heat and humidity to escape, which should prevent further spalling. The crew also repointed the brick on the front and rear of my townhouse. After 40 years, there were many gaps between the bricks. Finally, the men power-washed my front concrete steps for free.
