Though I chose another company to perform the service, I am keeping Ed's Tree Service information in my files, for future tree care need.
Description of Work: Mr. Kevin Fernandes and Mr. Naftali Cruz arrived on time for the appointment , when we discussed the scope of the service I needed. I was very impressed with their knowledge and professionalism. The company provided me with a very competitive cost estimate.

Although I did not use this contractor I wanted to recognize them for their prompt and efficient customer service. I made contact with Ed?s Tree Service and right away they provided me with a date to examine a dead tree in my back yard and later provided me with a written contract proposal for removal of the tree. Their representative, Kathy, made follow-up calls to verify that I had received their proposal and requested that I contact them if I had any questions. I was most pleased with this company?s prompt attention to details and their prompt response to provide me with a dollar estimate for the tree removal.

Ed's Tree Service did an excellent job! I am very pleased that I chose them for my tree removal service needed at my home. The price was fair not cheap, considering the work requested. They were punctual, on time and prompt as promised. And, quick too! The job was completed in less than 30 minutes. Both the tree and the stump was removed as I requested. The team was very professional and cleaned up the site afterwards. I would highly recommend them. They are a fully equipped tree service company and seem very trustworthy.

I needed a tree removed fairly urgently so that fence construction could continue. Not only was Ed's price reasonable in terms of other quotes but they were able to send a crew a few hours later and quickly take it out, including grinding out the stump.

My initial contact with Ed's Tree Service (ETS) was via their webpage on a Sunday and I was contacted by ETS on Monday morning. A time was arranged to have them survey the work and provide an estimate. ( ETS was one of four companies contacted for estimates.) All estimates received were within @ $150 of each other. We selected ETS because its work proposal and estimate included the tree service contract/conditions written in clear plain language, as well as their follow-through during the proposal process. Other providers did not detail as much information. A date to take the tree down was scheduled, as well as a back-up date in case of inclement weather. On the first date the weather was rainy so I got a call the evening before to move to the back-up date. On the tree removal day the 5-man ETS crew arrived on time and worked efficiently and safely in taking down the tree. The tree was on the perimeter of our well-maintained lawn in a highly treed area. The ETS crew took great care in moving equipment across the lawn as well as taking care not to damage other large nearby trees surrounding the property. The entire job took a little over four hour. ETS removed all the tree, wood, branches, and leaves and there was little evidence of a tree being felled except for sawdust. The crew was professional, courteous and task oriented. We were disappointed to lose what had been such a beautiful graceful oak tree but very pleased with the work performed by Ed's.

Contacted for an estimate to clean up a downed tree that I cut up into smaller logs and branch sections and dragged to the driveway for chipping and didn't want to be home for it. They gave me an estimate the next day over the phone and I hired them for the job. They came out but called me to tell me the chipper broke so they had to come back the next business day to complete the job. Everything looked really clean when I came home. Perfect. They called and I paid over the phone with a cc and they mailed me a receipt. Really easy, no muss, no fuss, friendly on the phone. My neighbor said they were courteous when they were here, asking if it was okay to block their driveway while they worked.

Ed's had trimmed trees for us 17 months earlier, and we were pleased, so we called them again. Two 13-year-od trees in the front yard were getting overgrown and rubbing against our house and the neighbor's. Same woman scheduling over the phone, same guy giving estimates, same crew and crew chief. None named Ed so far as I know. They are all experienced and capable, and they do a great job. They don't leave until you are completely satisfied.

,This is the second time we have used Ed's Tree Service in the last six months or so and they have impressed us. This time, they removed two 'wild' trees which had grown too close to one of our structures and were damaged. The first time we used them this summer, we had trees and shrubs trimmed, including some large branches overhanging from a neighbor's yard which required the use of ropes and was a much larger job. Before each service, the owner, Alice Fernandez, came out to do the estimate and discuss what needed to be done. We were impressed with the owner's professionalism and knowledge (not to mention her friendliness). Not only was she readily able to identify the species, she exhibited a great respect for trees and recommended only work that was needed and best for the trees--less than we had requested. This time, despite frigid temperatures and snow, the crew arrived on time, knew what needed to be done, and worked with us and our neighbor to satisfy us both, completing the job well and efficiently. The crew was respectful and friendly, going above and beyond our expectations. Unlike some companies, Ed's Tree Service requires signed permissions from neighbors to ensure everyone is in agreement. We think that's the mark of a true professional company. They are well-versed in the ANSI standards, too--the standards for cutting trees and standards which all Maryland licensed tree care providers must abide by. The office called to confirm our appointment and kept us updated about the job status, even confirming that our neighbor had moved his car. There were no surprises with the estimate. We were given a quote in advance and that was the final price. We would highly recommend this company as professional, ethical, and a pleasure to work with.

We set up an appt for their estimator to come out and he showed up on time (always a good start). He did not push us to do anything but walked around the property with us as we explained what we thought we needed. We had to reschedule a couple of times but they were always accommodating. The whole crew showed up on time and immediately started working. They told us they would be done by 12:30 and they even finished early. They even asked if they could drive some of their equipment on our driveway instead of just assuming - appreciated that. At the end they said just to call the office to pay by credit card. We have used them in the past for trimming as well as branch removal after a heavy snow and will use them again. They are always pleasant and never push.

They were very prompt in terms of coming and giving me an estimate. They came the next day or the day after to give an estimate. I thought the price was good. The quality of the work was excellent. I had no problems with it. They were very competent. I wasn't concerned about their safety or what they were doing. There were a couple of branches that were very close to my neighbor's property so I was a bit concerned that if they didn't take it down correctly, they could possibly damage my neighbor's house and that wasn't even a problem. They knew what they were doing. They showed up when they said they were going to show up and were here as long as they said they were going to be. The lead guy had been doing this for quite a number of years, almost 20 years and I talked with him while he was working.

The provider representative(s) I spoke with were very courteous and professional. The service crew came to my house on the agreed-upon date while I was at work (they didn't need me to be at home). When I came home that evening, I found virtually no trace of the tree except part of the stump and some wood shavings that one could easily overlook.

The entire process went very smoothly. I sent them an email and they called me and scheduled a visit to look at the two trees I wanted taken down and provide an estimate. They gave me a time range of 1-3 and the estimator was there 5 minutes before 1. He looked at the work and gave me an estimate of $1400. They had a coupon on Angie's list so the estimate was reduced by 10% to $1260. I had other services estimate $1700 for one tree. The next day I accepted the proposal and scheduled the work. They were able to come within a week. They showed up at the scheduled time and did the work. They cleaned up afterward and left the place looking just like they said it would. All in all a very good experience.

It went well and now our back yard is brighter and much safer. Tree maintenance is necessary for safety but there's always some sadness with seeing the branches cut off. The estimator from Ed's arrived punctually and wrote up the estimate. I gasped, but it had been many years since the trees had been touched, and there were many dead branches dropping from the tulip poplars even on calm days so it needed to be done. We had used Ed's for many years and did not seek other bids, but after talking to a neighbor about prices to prune a single tulip poplar we realized the $4000 was very reasonable for a job this size. A 4 person crew arrived on the scheduled day, timing their arrival so I could be home to consult with the lead person about the 3 crape myrtles that I wanted to have selectively pruned, not chopped. I was impressed with the safety measures the crew took to be sure that the person high in the tulip poplars was safely harnessed and also impressed with the control with which they took huge branches to the ground on ropes. Not a sign of any damage to landscaping, fences, wall, or house although the tree that was removed was only a few feet from the house and leaned over it. There was only one regret, a problem of semantics, in which I didn't clarify on the one tree where lower branches were to be removed, that trimming 10 ft up to me meant on the trunk, but to the tree guy it meant clearance from the ground. Since branches drooped down, more branches were removed from the trunk than I had expected. Ultimately it's a good thing, but the yard felt more exposed until we got used to more sunshine. I was appreciative at the end of the job when they worked with me to cut off only a few of the branches of the crape myrtle. Also as they were loading up the truck they came back with the chain saw to cut off the tree trunk at an angle to match the slope of the bank. They must have been exhausted, but they remained pleasant and patient--true professionals.
Description of Work: Thinned out many branches of 2 huge tulip poplars, thinned 2 other large trees (silver maple and black oak), cut down a tall, fairly large hickory that was leaning over the house, and selectively pruned 3 overgrown crape myrtles

This went very well. The estimator turned up in the expected two-hour time window. The price was the best one I received, so I hired the company. They promised to come within two weeks, and in fact came four days later, on two days' notice. I spent a lot of time removing the flowers and other things I wanted to save, so the work area was clear on the day they came. Right on time, the two trucks, towing a large chipper and a stump removal machine, turned up in front of the house. The work area was on the front lawn and easy to access. They performed the whole job in about 27 minutes, astonishingly. There were at least four work persons, and they had all the right equipment, so everything was over in a flash. I am happy with the care they took not to harm the stone pathway near the stumps, and in general the way they contained the mulch pile and so on. Everyone was polite and professional. I have already recommended this company to a friend.

The process from start to finish was smooth - simple quote process, their price was competitive, and once I obtained the permits from the city and my neighbor they scheduled me right away. On the day a whole crew arrived early, everything went smoothly and they were done completely before the day was over. The only part I would say was slightly problematic were the enormous impressions in my lawn from the crane, along with the patterned impressions from the mats they use under the crane feet on my blacktop driveway - but it's unavoidable on a warm day and they had mentioned the fact that the lawn would see some damage beforehand (not to mention my driveway is on its last legs). They removed all the debris and all of the wood and ground the stump exactly as they said they would, no damage to my new roof despite the very large size of the tree literally right next to the house, so I am very satisfied with their work.

The pine tree in the front of my yard had been planted by a previous owner, and although I kept trimming it, the trunk had grown so large that it was close to pressing up against the house, and I was worried about foundation damage. I sent an email to the company on Sunday night, and they stopped by my house and gave me an estimate on Monday. The crew stopped by on Tuesday, and the whole job was completed within minutes. Before I contacted them, I was thinking about doing it myself, but it would have taken me about a month to complete the work (plus the high chance of the tree falling on me), and I definitely would not have done such a good job. I'm very happy I hired them, they did a really great job, and were very quick and efficient. If I have any more trees to remove, I will definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: I had a pine tree that had grown too big for its location, and it was almost touching the house, so I was getting worried about the foundation. I asked him to cut it down, remove the stump, and haul away the debris.

Ed's Tree Service was extremely quick to respond and did top-quality work. After a storm dropped a large tree limb onto our house and deck, the first tree service we contacted (one we had used previously) quoted us a date three weeks in the future just to provide an estimate. Ed's said they could give an estimate the next Monday or Wednesday (this was on a Friday); when I got home from work they had already stopped by and given a very reasonable estimate. Due to miscommunication they provided another, lower, estimate on Monday, after we had already called to schedule the work; when we called they agreed to honor the lower estimate. The work itself was done Tuesday - three business days after the original contact, and two weeks before the other company could even have provided an estimate. There was no trace of debris left from the work - no twigs or sawdust. I am extremely pleased with their work.
