Eds Tree Service Inc

This is the third time I have used Ed's Tree Service over the past nine years: first for taking down a swamp maple that was too close to the house; second for pruning three trees; and this time to trim an oak tree and take down a maple that, in addition to being too close to my house, has been dying back slowly for about eight years and had begun to shed worrisomely large branches during thunderstorms. When the crew was pruning the oak tree, I was dismayed about the amount of branches on the ground; but now that the tree has leafed out, it looks beautiful. It also seems like there's less wind resistance during storms, which is a good thing as the tree is close to the house but so beautiful I cannot bear to have it removed. The crew did an excellent job, keeping the removed branches away from the house and grinding up the smaller branches. They neatly stacked the larger pieces of wood on my property, and cleaned up fallen twigs and sawdust from the grinding equipment. They were also conscientious about the garden, asking about the blooming daffodils under the tree that was to be removed; but as the bloom cycle was almost over, I told them not to worry about stepping on some of the flowers. Tree service is expensive, but after using their services for the first time I've received annual coupons for tree work scheduled in the off season (I think this work was 20% off, which seems to be the usual amount Ed's has been offering for late winter / early spring work.) I would use them again and be happy to recommend them to friends and neighbors.

A representative came out to my home and gave me an estimate....experienced sticker shock, as I had never needed a tree trimmed. The Original estimate was for $500 with a 10% Agnies List discount. The representive promised that I would be please with their service. However, I was not.. My appoitment was set for June 30 at 2PM. However, by 3:50pm it was evident that this was not going to happen. Needless to say no one from Ed's Tree Service contacted me to let me know that the crew was running late. I placed phone calls to both of the numbers listed in Angies brocher. Conseqently, I left two messages because no one answered the phonel. Finally, about 10 minutes later (it is now 4PM) the representative who came out to my home with the estimate contacted me and informed me that my 2PM appoitnment would need to be cancelled because the crew was still on a tree trimming job from that morning. I was told that someone from the office would contact me the next day and set up an appt.. However, the next day by 11AM no one from Ed's Tree Service had contacted me (I thought that I would have been the first to been seen the next day). Thus, I made contact with the office. I was told that I should have called the emergency number...I thought to myself...The vendor never showed up or called and the consumer was responsible for calling an emergency number to state the obvious. I informed the office that this was poor customer service....Around Noon-1PM the office contacted me and stated that a crew would be to my home by 2PM. The crew indeed showed up and perfomed their duties well, with great personality. The next day, I thought to myself it would have been nice if the Ed's Tree Service would have offered a deduction in price for the inconvience...But, I cannot blamed them....I did not ask. In closing, this was not a good look for Ed's Tree Trimming service especially when I was initial told that I would be pleased with the company's work.

Work was done in timely fashion and as discussed.

The trees in my yard were overgrown and some were damaged from the winter and many storms we've had. I contacted Ed's Tree Service and received a response within a day to schedule a visit for an estimate. Estimator walked the yard with me and offered advice. He provided the quote the same day. The office kept in contact to schedule the work and offered an additional discount. The workers showed up on time as scheduled to complete the job They were very professional and prior to leaving, walked the yard with me to see if I was ok with the work. I was pleased with the service and would use Ed's again.

They do a really great job and their price is really competitive. I will give them all A's across the board.

They were wonderful! They are very nice people and very efficient. It didnt take them forever to do the job and they cleaned up really well. I didnt have to worry about what they were doing.

Excellent. The tree cutter arrived early and quickly assessed that the job was bigger than originally thought. He quickly arranged to have another cutter join him. They entire team did a great job and the clean up was if they were never there.

Thorough and knowledgeable when discussing the scope of work to be performed. Very competitive pricing. Work crew arrived on time (even a bit early) and was extremely efficient. The large tree required a crane in addition to the shredder. All equipment was located so that traffic could pass on our relatively narrow street. Work was done quickly and safely. Removal of the pine was from the rear of our house. This was a completely manual job, including lugging the sections of the trunk to the front of the house where the shredder was placed. Crew worked carefully around our existing gardens and shrubbery. (We did temporarily relocate some plants to make work space around the pine.) Removal of both trees was completed in about 3.5 hours. The stump removal equipment arrived shortly after the trees were removed. Our front yard presented a challenge to positioning the stump grinder. The technician was very resourceful and completed the stump grinding quickly, and safely. Both crews left the work area clean of debris. Across the board this company performed EXCEPTIONALLY. I will use Ed's Tree Service again and recommend them highly.

Great. Job took 30 minutes

A large poplar had been damaged by last year's storms; much as I love my trees, the bark was beginning to delaminate and it needed to come down. I got three estimates for this work and decided to go with Ed's Tree Service based on pricing and helpfulness (when Alice did the estimate, she estimated both the removal of the tree and the additional work that needed doing to keep the others healthy--she broke this out separately, which I very much appreciated.) Alice was competent, knowledgeable, and very helpful with both additional suggestions and honesty about what did and didn't need to be done. Scheduling both the estimate and the work itself was easy. I was not home for the work itself, but I have a tight backyard with a house close to my neighbor's; when I left for work, the tree was there, and when I came home, it was gone. Highly, highly recommended, particularly if you don't know much about trees!

I thought I was singing an estimate. When I looked at it, it said I had agreed to terms and conditions. I didn't give them authorization to do any work. The person said they would send me a letter was very rude and unprofessional and I have still not received a letter.

First contacted provider by phone and left message. Received call back within a few days and they were very prompt to come out to give the estimate. Estimator was very efficient and knowledgeable and made some good recommendations that we had not considered. Spent a reasonable amount time walking the property and making notes in order to give an accurate quote. The estimation was done on a Friday and we were told we would receive a call back on Monday to schedule to have the work done. As of 5:00 Monday we had not received a call back so I called and left a message requesting a follow up call to schedule an appt. as I wanted to have the work done soon. Received a call back Tuesday about 8:00 am asking if we wanted the work done at around 9:00. We said yes and the crew showed up on time and ready to work. They completed the work in about 90 minutes and cleaned up nicely (all branches, etc. removed from the work area). The trimming looked nicely groomed (no big gaps and everything looked very natural). We did notice a discarded cigarette butt in the work area later but it may have not come from the crew. Also, I had recently seeded an area of the front lawn and they were very respectful in keeping off of that area so as not to disturb my effort to grow grass (which I'm generally unsuccessful in doing!)

I would recommend them to a friend and would call them again for another tree project. Great Work!

The work went very well and they were about $600 cheaper than another Angies List tree service we contacted.

They were very responsive to my initial request and submitted an estimate to me within 5 days of my call. We proceed with the work and all was done professionally and timely. The tree was removed and stump ground down 6 inches. All debris was hauled away. They were very proactive in staying in touch with me and insuring that we were happy with their work. I was not extremely pleased with the way they trimmed the tree away from our deck so they returned and trimmed some more at no additional charge. I would not hesitate to use this service in the future.

I was very impressed. Of the three companies I had consult on the job, Alice showed the most concern for and knowledge about the tree itself. She understood what we needed and wanted and took care of it all. She also offered advice on where more trimming was needed (to get overhanging branches away from house) than what we had thought of. Her price was not the lowest, but it was competitive, and we got a discount because we had the work done in winter. The crew cleaned up all the trimmings, including a branch that had fallen earlier. I am very happy about the experience and look forward to seeing the look of the new, trim tree in the spring.

They were the low bid. They were friendly, professional, prompt and fast (under 5 hours). There was no damage to the house, power lines, dogwood tree and numerous shrubs. They cleaned up all the debris.

Cut down and mulched eight Leland's. Did a very solid job. Plus, they cleaned up the site really we'll.

Alice Fernandes visited and worked up a proposal. She was thorough and clear in discussion of what was to be done. Later conversations resulted in a revised proposal totally satisfactory to us. On the appointed day and at the time scheduled, the crew lead by Mr. Cruz and accompanied by a crane and operator took down the large, dying maple in our front yard. They then moved on to selective and important pruning on another maple in the same yard. Once that was done they moved to the rear yard where they took down a long dead maple. The final work involved 3 large and separate piles of wood, some old firewood and the rest damaged limbs etc The wood and brush from each operation was either chipped and hauled away or taken away whole. . The team accomplished everything Alice had described and did it in a professional manner. They were considerate of our landscaping and trees and the clean up that was done was beyond expectations We obtained other estimates before choosing Ed's.and we were strongly influenced in our choice by the knowledge and expertise shown by Alice. Her plans were executed without incident and without any surprises.

Provider came exactly as promised, did all the work in a professional fashion, and thoroughly cleaned up the work areas . I am totally satisfied with the work performed, except that the price seemed rather high.

The crew leader agreed with my observation of his work that a great job must combine science and art. The result was exactly as we hoped and we'll use Ed's for services in the future. The real test was when viewing the front yard from a distance; nothing obvious (i.e. 'shaping') but it looks so much better! Thanks!

Ed's Tree Service did a beautiful and professional job of trimming and pruning 5 trees in my yard. I emailed them thru Angie's List on a Friday. They called Sunday afternoon to set up an appointment to give an estimate. They showed up on time on Wednesday to give the estimate which we accepted and said I would be put into their schedule and expected to be complete within 10 days. They called on the next Monday to schedule the work for Thursday. They showed up on time and completed the work in about 4 hours. Highly recommended.

When Ed's crew does the job it always goes well. This time it was a relatively straightforward job in the back of the house and took several hours to complete. They arrived on time and were very competent and professional in the way that they did the work. They are easy to talk to, and they take care to do everything correctly and to clean up after the job is done. I used them on previous occasions, sometimes for pruning dead or diseased branches or to thin out the "sail area" to prevent storm damage. I also used them to remove large trees that were either dead or damaged or were potential threats to my house. The work was always done extremely well and at a very reasonable cost. Removal of large trees in the front yard included grinding the stump to a depth of two feet so that new plantings in those areas can thrive. I plan to call on them each year to inspect the trees and to do what is necessary to keep them healthy or to remove ones that have died or are on their last legs.
