So I sent them an e-mail to ask for an expert to come to our property to tell us how to save two Oak trees and give me an estimate on what needed to be done. I received no response, so I called them a week later and they told me that they do not check/treat trees, they just cut them down. When I asked that why do they have have arborist on staff then, I was told that it would cost me $250 for an arborist to come out and give me an estimate on how to save my tree. So much for Free estimate and Full Service Tree care. I told them that the competition does come out for free estimate!!
Description of Work: I needed an arborist to tell me and do the job on what could be done to save two Oak Trees in by backyard. According to the information on the Angie’s list they listed, I quote “Full Service Tree Care” and “with 6 ISA Certified Arborists, 14 Maryland Licensed Tree Experts” and “Cost Is Determined By The Job (Free Estimates)”.

Response from Adirondack Tree Experts
This is the first “F” our company has received and it has nothing to do with the services that we provided to the member. The member requested an arborist evaluation to help save two oak trees. Our staff explained that our free estimates are provided for a specific scope of work involving the pruning and removal of trees. An arborist evaluation is a different service with a fee of $250. An arborist evaluation consists of the diagnosis of tree diseases or the reasons for the decline of a tree and a plan for treatment. Apparently our failure to provide this member with $250 worth of professional services free of charge, earned us an “F” grade. If you check this member’s history of reports, you will see has a high ratio of “F” reports. In fact, it is the highest of any member that we have dealt with. The list is a forum for members to relate their experiences. It is not to be used as a tool to leverage companies to provide free services.

This is the second time I have used Adirondack. Previously I had them thin/prune four old white oaks on the property. I cannot imagine using any other arborist in central Maryland. This team is outstanding. Punctual, professional, and talented. I'm convinced these folks can do absolutely anything. As a bonus, the yard is always cleaner than before they arrived. Spotless.

I found out that they do not come out to Gaithersburg, MD for any type of work anymore. Too bad, I had used them before for some Arborist estimate and they seems quite knowledgable and prompt.
Description of Work: Wanted them to come out to get a free estimate on some tree work. I have over 24 trees on our property and about 1/3 of them needed some sort of thinning out, removal of dead limbs, and clearing from the house.

I needed numerous trees to be removed. All of them were on a slope behind our fence. The price quoted was the same as a competitor. The crew arrived when the scheduler indicated they would. There were five in the crew and they worked very efficiently. They performed the work well and even accommodated a few last minute requests regarding placement of the old wood as well as the wood chips. This is the second time we have used this company and will definitely consider them again for future work.

We were looking to get some trees taken down, some other trees trimmed and the brush cleared from the back yard. Dan Miller from Adirondack came by at the appointed date/time to give us a quote. He was clearly knowledgeable about the field and was helpful and cordial. We decided against them for 2 reasons: (i) They seemed a little higher than the other company that I had been looking at (ii) They do not handle brush removal, which was an essential part of the job for us. We would recommend them to others. Just because they were not a good fit for us does not mean they are not good!!!

Response from Adirondack Tree Experts
We thank this member for considering us, however, I would like to clarify the issue of "brush removal". We will, without hesitation or condition, remove brush in the line of tree work. We do not however clear weed growth from lawn areas and flower beds. This tends to deviate from the art of tree care and removal.

Fabulous! Two other contractors told me the red maple had to be completely cut down - for about $2500-3000. Adirondack told me the tree was still in good shape, had a great root system and could definitely be saved and trimmed so that it stayed well balanced. They showed up (earlier than expected, but I was home) and went right to work. All the branches were tied so they didn't just fall, they were carefully lowered to the ground. They cleaned up after themselves, including blowing the leaves off the roof. I was so happy the tree was saved!
Description of Work: Had several large branches from a 2 story red maple come off and land on roof after a storm. Needed those taken away, the tree trimmed and another pine tree trimmed away from the house.

See above......EXCELLENT!!. Benicio is a great leader and also strong in his social skills. He has a warm personality and made me feel secure in all the judgement calls he made. From the moment he introduced himself and wanted to go over exactly what I wanted to have done I felt a sense of relief. It is not often one comes across a company who has such competent and intelligent employees. I am impressed with everyone from Dan Miller giving me his estimate to the gentleman who covered the phone calls at your company while the secretary was on vacation and with the secretary once she returned. It was clear everyone appreciated the business and it was a pleasure doing business with you. I have only DOS, no DON'TS..............DO keep everyone I dealt with.........they were ALL wonderful!!. Thank you all for your integrity.......especially Benicio..
Description of Work: The team of three gentlemen, headed up by Benicio, trimmed and thinned out my grey birch tree which was touching my roof and overhanging my deck. The tree also had branches sticking into a balcony on the 2nd as well as on the 3rd floor. Your team did an outstanding job and Benicio wanted to be sure throughout the process that I was happy with the way things were looking. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up everything upon completion. This company is fortunate to have 3 such hard workers who take pride in their work. They were very professional, efficient, respectful, and competent. Please thank them again for me! I just recommended your company to a friend who needs some tree work and I hope your bid wins!

They are very professional and stick to their estimate. They are reasonably priced. The office staff is very friendly. I did not even have to be on the property during estimation and actual work. They came with crane to remove the large trees and did the work very well. Cleaned up so well that I could not realize they had completed the work. They did not leave any trace or debris. The crane did not leave any marks on the driveway or lawn. Everything went smooth.
Description of Work: Used them on two separate occasions to remove large number of small and big trees. Some of these trees had come down due to the record snowstorms.

John Anna came to prepare an estimate for the work we requested on the 13 trees in our back yard. When that was more than we had expected, we needed to make an adjustment. After that we learned that what we thought was clear, was not the same as the arborist technical terms. So we had to work through those expectations, definitions, and estimates. In the end we were very pleased with the work done. We realized that the original quote was a better price for what we had wanted to include, but we had to make the decision being careful with our budget at the time. Some of the branches we requested to be removed were hanging over our fence into the neighbors? yards. The men working on the trees were efficient, careful, and skillful in the work done. When finished with the last tree, the entire area was cleaned, including those branches & debris that had hung over the neighbors? yards. They also cleared all debris from our roof and patio. Cost for the work done was $900. Senior Discount 5% brought it to $855. When I asked if they would clear away the yard debris at the back corner, that was $50. So the total cost was $905. We really appreciated the excellent work. Our only word of caution would be that you accompany the estimator when he comes to your house so that you and he are fully understanding each other?s expectations. We planned to be present when the estimator came, but there was some disconnect in that time communication, also. I?m sure we?ll call on Adirondack when we can complete the rest of the tree work we wanted done originally.
Description of Work: Our trees are large in diameter and taller than our house. Basically the estimate included: 1 - Tree at the patio - Remove the lowest limb that extends over neighbor's property; thin and deadwood [On this tree, the "deadwood" also extended over our roof and had to be removed.] 2 - Left rear corner poplar - Remove 2 lowest limbs; Remove the large caliper accessible deadwood from rear left corner and thin. (I had to ask what caliper meant [branch] ) 3 - Rear double poplar - Remove 2 lowest limbs at base [These extended over the neighbor's yard] 4 - Haul all wood & brush away * Deadwood shall be removed @ the size of 1" in caliper & larger and accessible When I asked for clarification, I understand that a) the deadwood would be removed if it was 1" diameter or more. b) accessible meant that the one cutting the branches would determine what height would be safe or not safe. I was told that arborists do not "top off" trees and do not "flat-line" trees (cut off branches to the trunk). Do: Be sure you accompany the estimator when he makes the assessment. Request if he's going to be early, to please call you. Do: Be sure the estimator understands what you want. If you indicate a branch, he may not see it from the same point of view. Do: Be sure you understand the arborist terms, so you're clear what will be done or not done.

Our experience with Adirondack was excellent. They were responsive and provided good advice, both over the phone and in person. The trimming work was scheduled within a week from the initial call and was completed in one day. The team thoroughly cleaned up branches -- the only sign that they had been there was that the tree looked much better and was no longer scraping the side of the house. Of particular note is that the advice and trimming have really paid off. Despite the snowiest winter on record (more than 55 inches) and several severe thunderstorms with high winds this spring, we haven't lost even one limb.

Vinny and his crew arrived on time and worked straight through. Vinny answered all my questions throughout the job. They cleaned up everything (yard looks spotless). I'm very satisfied with this professional crew.
Description of Work: They took down three trees and thinned branches on a fourth. They removed a very large poplar and very large pine tree that were both dead/dying and had branches hanging over our roof and the neighbor's property. They also removed a medium to large size mimosa which had roots too close to the house foundation and branches overhanging the roof. In addition to those trees that were cut to stump level (no stump grinding requested) and removed, they also thinned branches from a large maple. Their price was not the cheapest quote but they were very close to the others. I picked them because of their great reputation and their very professional quote (their quote package is very informative).

Based on their high ratings on Angie's List and Checkbook, called Adirondack for professional evaluation of an apparently dead oak tree. Made an appointment for a tree expert to come out, even though they were booked and wouldn't be able to come for two weeks. Expert showed up on time, spent half an hour reviewing my trees and making recommendations. He was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He left an estimate for removal of the dead tree as well as trimming of three other trees. I called the company later that day to book the job, and got an appointment for later that week. On the appointed day, they showed up on time (actually a little early!) with a crew of five and two huge pieces of equipment (a wood chipper and a stump grinder). They cut down and removed the dead oak, ground the stump below grade, and filled the hole with sawdust and mulch, all in about an hour. They also trimmed and thinned the other three trees, taking another hour or so. They then removed all the leaves, branches, sawdust, and other debris. When they were finished, you couldn't tell they had been there other than the patch of mulch where the dead tree was and the nice appearance of the trimmed trees. The crew was efficient and professional. They did an excellent job with the trees as well as cleaning up afterwards. Highly recommended.

Very happy with the service and from what I'm hearing the price, given the amount of work involved, was very good, if not excellent.
Description of Work: Was hit hard by the snow, as was everyone else in the area. We had 12 Leland pines out in the back, and all 12 were taken out by the snow. By the time we were over the second snow storm all of the trees were bent to odd angles and, bottom line, they needed to come out. Called Adridondack, they got someone out ASAP for an estimate, was given a very reasonable price given what I've been heard from others about how much they had to spend or what they were told about what others had to spend to remove trees. They came out and did the job quickly and professionally.

Speedy reply to my initial inquiry followed by an inspection and price quote within a week. Best in class price. Scheduled a removal date within 10 days of me signing the proposal. On the removal date, the team came on-time, communicated well and professionally, worked quickly but carefully. I asked for some additional work (grinding an old stump elsewhere in the yard), which they were happy to do, at no additional cost. Couldn't ask for more!

These guys rock! Vinicio's crew was fast, thorough, friendly and totally professional. My Dad's been a logger for 40 years and even he was impressed as he watched. I would recommend these guys to anyone and on top of all the performance kudos, they beat 4 other estimates (all from highly rated Angie's List companies) by a minimum of $3000. They beat one estimate by over $6000. Overall, no way I could have been happier. Rare to say you totally get your money's worth but this was one of those times.

The estimator arrived promptly within the scheduled one-hour window and professionally evaluated and quoted the job. The work was scheduled for a week later, but because of rain, the company called and rescheduled for the next week. The company arranged for Miss Utility marking since every utility ran underground within five feet of the tree. The crew of five arrived within the scheduled four-hour window and completed the work very efficiently within two hours. This was a friendly group who seemed to enjoy their work. As I requested, no vehicles other than the small self-propelled stump grinder were taken into the yard. Instead, they dragged and carried all debris to the curb for chipping and removed all the stump grindings leaving some in each stump hole for safety reasons. The yard was adequately raked and cleaned. Payment (with a senior discount) was made directly to the crew chief. No deposit was asked for this job. It is easy to see why this company rates so highly on Angie's List -- a no stress encounter!
