Home Systems Appliance Repair was professional and accommodating right from the beginning. I had called two other repair shops who were unable to schedule a repair within 48 hours. Home Systems did this and when an opening became available earlier I was contacted. I was able to take that afternoon appointment because the tech called me when he was 30 minutes away from my home so I could leave work and meet him there. When I arrived home Charles was there waiting for me. He donned covers for his shoes before entering my condo and went right to work. He explained to me what was wrong, what parts were needed and how long it would take to fix. After a short period he was finished and the dryer was working. Charles packed up his tools and was on his way. About a day later the same 20 year old dryer stopped running again. I called Home Systems and explained the situation. The same repair tech came out. He was just as polite and considerate as the first time. His inspection showed that the motor had burned out. He did not have what was needed to repair it without ordering some parts. We agreed that he would order and come back ASAP. Parts were ordered and true to his word I got the first appointment of the day following his receipt of the parts. This time took a little longer because the repair was more involved. Charles was kind, patient and understood my questions even though I was using the correct terms to describe the parts of the machine. He also ordered a handle for the door on the dryer. I had been using a utensil to pry open the door through the opening for the handle. He did this without me asking for it and it was free of charge. I am pleased with the service I received from the first phone call to the suggestion for cleaning the dryer vents after fixing the motor. I would recommend this company to anyone living in my neighborhood.
Description of Work: My dryer wasn't running and a belt had to be replaced.

The company contacted me a day or two after my email enquiry. We arranged a day and time for them to come out. They called within the time frame established to confirm they were on the way. They had to order the part and returned a week later to compete the job. A few days later the ice maker was still not working so I called and they came back and did some ajustments. I now have a lot of ice and am very happy. The technician was professional and put covers on his shoes because it rained earlier. I guess the price was ok not really sure that is the only reason I give them a B for that . Overall I was very satisfied with the service and would recommend them.

I am very pleased with the whole experience. James was flexible when I needed to reschedule the initial appointment and was very prompt today. He determined that the problem was a pinched wire- perhaps damage that had been done in the factory or during shipping, and then repaired the wires. The service took about an hour and a half and cost $105. I was very happy that everything could be done in a single appointment and no spare parts were required. He was very polite and professional and I'd highly recommend this business!
Description of Work: My 2011 Frigidaire oven stopped working. The breaker wasn't the problem but there was no electrical display. I could only light the gas burners with a lighter.

Jim was prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable about both affected appliances and while he had never seen the washer/dryer issue, he was methodical in arriving at the solution. When the refrigerator issue pointed to a valve, he was prompt in giving me the estimated time to receive it as well as scheduling installation on a Saturday to install. That was so appreciated since it meant I didn't miss any time on my job! I appreciated his time, work ethic and knowledge - I would recommend Home Systems Appliance Repair to anyone!
Description of Work: Had a very unusual door issue on both Maytag units - front load washer and dryer. Hinges had cracked (VERY unusual) and would not close. Refrigerator had suddenly stopped providing filtered water from the door.

I love these guys! this is the true advantage of Angie's List. We looked up appliance repair and found "Home Systems Appliance Repair". I called them and they scheduled an immediate appointment -- they came the next day (Wednesday) and did trouble shooting. He explained that the basic charge was $95 for troubleshooting. IF further repairs or parts were needed, that $95 would come off the entire cost of the repair. I loved that deal. The service tech drained the dishwasher and made it temporarily operational. He ordered the part and then returned on Friday to complete the fix. He gave me a 10% discout for being an Angie's List member. I paid an additional $120 for the repair so the total was $215 which I thought was very reasonable for all he did. The tech was very polite and professional. I would rate this an A++ experience. I will use them again.

The service technician, I believe his name was James, was very professional. It was an excellent experience and I will not hesitate to call them if the need arises.
Description of Work: Our Roper wall oven, which is well over 30 years old, would only heat up to 200 degrees. I contacted Home Systems Appliance Repair, and the repair technician assessed the problem and told me the ignition system was not working properly. Great experience. I selected Home Systems because of the large number of positive Angie's List reviews and they did not disappoint. Jim was thoroughly professional and immediately inspired confidence in his skills and competence. He discovered the problem quickly and the part that needed replacing. The first service call was on a Friday afternoon. First thing Monday morning, he had the part ordered and he was back Wednesday morning to complete the repair. And he took 10% off the bill since we found him through Angie's List. We highly recommend Jim and Home Systems Appliance Repair.

Over the phone, quickly identified the part needed and arranged quick delivery . Arrived during promised window. Extremely knowledgeable.Excellent mechanic. Cleaned washing machine filter which was not part of the requested repair, but should be done routinely. Wore foot coverings and completely tested the machine before he left. Would definitely use again.

Couldn't have been happier, everything was wonderful.
Description of Work: I have a stacked washer and dryer. The washer (which is on the bottom) wouldn't spin or drain water. Jim found the problem and unclogged the drain. Before Jim started the job he laid down a tarp to place the laundry room contents on it and he cleaned up when the job was finished. There are other things that came into play here: Several companies would not come out because they don't work on stackable units. Home Systems did. We are planning on putting cabinets in our very small laundry room. Now we know if we do it has to be on wheels so we can move it out of the room to work on the appliances. Home Systems saved us alot of grief in the long run. Called late one afternoon and he came mid-morning the next day.

From start to finish everything was smooth and professional. I called mid-day and Jim, the owner, answered the phone. After I explained my situation, he asked me a few simple diagnostic questions and informed me of the price for a house call ($100 I think), which could be applied to the repair cost. We made an appointment for the next day and Jim arrived on time in a professionally lettered truck and wearing a clean, pressed uniform and boot booties, which, although not necessary in my home, showed that he respected his clients' carpets. He was able to tell almost immediately what was wrong with my unit and informed me that it was not worth the trouble or cost of repairing (I could get a new machine for less!). He asked a few questions about my preferences and habits in using the appliance , and made several recommendations of reliable brands to investigate in my search for a replacement. The nicest part was that he only charged me $35. He was headed down the road after only 10 minutes, so not bad for either of us: he made a nice return on his short time in my home, and I was now armed with knowledge of my situation and prepared to shop for a new appliance, all for a very fair price. I've passed his name and number on twice so far and won't hesitate to do so again if asked.

A great experience from start to finish, and beyond. It's January 2013 and the dryer is still drying. I wanted to wait and see if the thing was repaired properly before writing a review :) In detail, our dryer wasn't heating up but it was spinning. We tried cleaning out the lint, including the vent but it didn't help the dryer heat up. My daughter bought a 'tester' and it determined that a heating element wasn't working. I called Home Systems, found on Angie's list (this is an awesome site, btw). and they came out and fixed the dryer. The only reason I gave a 'B' for cost is that I thought it was a teeny bit steep, but what do I know about the repair business :)

We were very happy with the work. The repairman was prompt , courteous and friendly. He quickly diagnosed the problem and had the part on his truck. The repair was done quickly and we have not had any issues with the washer since. Well worth it, much less expensive than a new washer as we feared it might take.

I was unable to keep our original appointment due to a business meeting, and called well ahead. Jim arranged to come the following Saturday to work around my work schedule, which I really appreciated. Jim arrived on time in his little shoe protective slippers -- what a meticulous person. He told me the stove would need a new valve after he had worked on the stove for a while. He was extremely professional, and he apologized for having misdiagnosed it the first time around (he thought it was only the ignitor). It took him at least an hour, maybe about 90 minutes, due to the valve situation. He said that the price would be consistent with the flat estimate, since I guess that's part of the flat estimate deal. The stove works better than it ever did. I had misplaced where I wrote down his estimate, and he applied the original trip fee ($95) to the repair and I paid what he told me was the balance. However, he accidentally overcharged me by $30. I wrote him the full check and then the next weekend came upon my notation (as you may have noticed, I am very careful with my money). I called and left him a respectful message saying I thought there was an overcharge. He called me right back to discuss it, checked his notes, called me to say it was his error and sent me a check for the $30 with a note on it -- arrived the next day -- saying "sorry for the inconvenience." All I can say is where did this honest, professional, and completely reliable person come from and are there any more like him? And that's why I belong to Angie's List!
Description of Work: Jim Charles came on November 2 to provide an estimate on my refrigerator and my stove, as I previously reported. Everything associated with that visit was just as great as I had expected it would be based on the other members' reviews. I decided not to repair the refrigerator, since I was never crazy about it (it was in the condo when I moved in) and so I bought a new one. Jim had thought my stove (a bells and whistles Kitchenaid model) needed a new ignitor, but it turned out when he repaired it on November 17 that the stove also needed a new valve (these were both in relation to oven performance). Jim repaired it and it worked great. The delay between his diagnosis and the service was due to my work schedule, not Jim's. It was done promptly and well.

Long story short, I'm p***** off. Jim told me that he could come tomorrow AM (nobody will be home) and that he couldn't come today. I asked him why all of a sudden it didn't need the part and he said that he needed some special drill bits to get off some rusted screw or something (I guess not getting the old part out explains why all of a sudden didn't need new part)!I told Jim that I understand, but that I'm "getting p***** off" at which point he told me not to use such language.Wow, I WAS in the Navy, and will swear like a sailor if appropriate, but to be lectured for not even swearing! Wow, that's rich. I told him to forget it and that I will be seeking a refund of the $90 paid so far and will call someone who knows what cussing is (if they can fix my cook-top, that would be great too)!
Description of Work: Jim came last Wed. to check gas cook-top with a burner that had trouble lighting. He diagnosed that it needed a new ignition part, for around $260. He came back this week to install part. Then somehow, it didn't need new part, and he repositioned something. After he left, our babysitter texted me that it didn't work. (I was not home for either visit, as I was at work. Baby sitter was home and I spoke with him on phone).

When I called to make the appointment, I encountered one of the most polite people I have ever spoken to. The appointment was made for a Saturday morning with no extra charge. I was told Jim would be there between 10 and 2. He called me at 9:30 to say he was on his way, and arrived just before 10. He took the dryer apart, inspected it, gave us a report, and then gave us a very reasonable estimate. He had the parts he needed, and less than 90 minutes after he arrived, he had the dryer fixed and ready to go again. He was also willing to answer some other questions I had, and did so cheerfully. He also told us some other issues that may need to be fixed, and told us how we could do it ourselves in order to save money. I would hire Jim again in a heartbeat.
