Excel Fencing & Decking

Charlie, the owner, did all the measurements and the estimate. He was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. His crew cam on time and erected the fence as promised. They did a first rate job and left our yard practically spotless. This is a five star company and my wife and I highly recommend it with no reservations whatsoever.

They were very accommodating and helpful. We initially drew up a plan to fence the back yard and we changed it to fencing in the front yard instead. They worked very well with us. They put a temporary fence up for us until we could get the real fence up as well. The fence looks great!

Charlie the owner is extremely charismatic and personable, but definitely treats his potential customers well. He came out to our home in Baltimore County although his company is based in Harford. He came prepared with references, materials, books and etc... Since my wife is in sales she knew all signs to be weary of. We elicited 4 proposals and his was third highest. There is something to said about being upfront, open and honesty. He was very upfront about his work and stood on his company's reputation. We normally have a huge Memorial Day cookout and he was able to complete the deck, but was did tell us that the fence would not be done I time. We did appreciate the upfront and honesty. The people on both crews are dedicated employees with very little turnover. They completed the tear down and install of approximately 240 linear feet of fencing in three days as promised. The deck took only two, but they needed to come out early the third day because a piece needing to be ripped was not done. He gladly had they crew out early and we're done in an hr. or less. He called back after each job to verify our satisfaction. We would gladly recommend Excel to any future customers as well as look to get more work done in the future.

Charlie came out right after we moved into our new home to give us a great walk thru of options and write up a quote. Through the process, we changed fence styles/size/layout of gates and changed how we wanted the stairs. We received updated quotes almost instantly and had consistent follow up from Charlie and Excel Fencing. They were all very professional and honest the whole process. They gave us a temporary fence to help with our dogs, the day we had a contract which was perfect while the supplies were ordered. We received several quotes from other contractors in the area, but decided to stick with Excel. Our choice was not based off price, but off the service and quality they had presented us to start with. We knew we wanted something that we wouldn't regret and wanted the level of service to be helpful and not forced. Charlie will give you his honest opinion and even provide great feedback on choices and designs. Both the fence and stairs look fantastic! We couldn't be happier. We will be glad to choose Excel again for our next projects and look forward to more great work.

Prompt, polite and professional! From estimate to fence is beautiful. Required numerous site visits to plan, adjust and obtain permits. They willingly accommodated each step along the way.

We moved to a new home and needed a fence in our yard for our dogs. Excel provided us with a timely, detailed and fair estimate. They placed a temporary fence for our dogs while the project was completed. The fence was installed as promised and looks great. Charlie and his team were very responsive, profesional and went above and beyond to ensure that our project was done right. Would highly recommend without reservations.

I almost didn?t choose Excel to build my deck but I am SO glad that I did. The other company we were considering was only $100 cheaper than Excel?s price but I didn?t feel as comfortable with them during the estimate. When the other companies came out it felt rushed and they were so pushy and wanted me to sign a contract that day. But when Charlie came out I didn?t feel pressured at all and he never tried to push a contract on me. I did receive a follow up call from Excel the next day just asking how my appointment went, which was nice, but it wasn?t a sales call. I never heard from the other companies that gave me estimates after the day we met. What swayed me towards Excel was their material options and how they gave me time to look over their proposal and make a decision without pressuring me. I really appreciated that. I also got the feeling that they would do a good job and I was not disappointed. The crew was always on time and were very polite. I came outside while they were working multiple times and they never seemed annoyed with me and answered all my questions. The deck turned out perfectly and I will be sure to call them once I?m ready to put a fence up. All-n-all, great experience, great company. The extra $100 was WELL worth it!

We choose Excel fencing because of their stellar reviews and could not have been happier. Charlie's estimate came in at around the same cost as other estimates we had gotten. Charlie had a variety of options to choose from and was very helpful in determining which design would be the best for us. Charlie went above and beyond to get our fence built. The fence itself was not complicated, but we had numerous issues with getting permits and with our HOA. Charlie went the extra mile by contacting our HOA directly and going to the permits office multiple times. After we finally got our permits straightened out the fence installation went smoothly. Charlie's employee's were professional, clean and courteous. The fence came out lovely, all of the panels are level and straight, and there are no gaps under any of the panels. We will definitely be contacting Charlie again when we are ready to have a deck built.

After some miscommunication, things were worked out and the finished job is perfect. Charlie, the owner is a man that will not leave you hanging. He works with you to iron out what ever the issue is and makes sure the customer is satisfied.

My project went great!!! Scheduling an appointment for an estimate was easy. My salesman, Charlie, arrived at the promised time and was very knowledgeable and professional. (He was also very patient with me as I had my 4 young children home with me at the time of the estimate!) I was given a no hassle no pressure estimate at the time of the appointment. The project started and finished on time. The installation crew was friendly and professional and maintained a clean and safe work site. I will recommend Excel to family and friends.

Everything went well from start to finish! My sales representative was knowledgable and kind, I received calls to let me know when my material would arrive and when the guys would be at my home to start working. All of the men working at my home were nice and professional. They cleaned up so well that I could not find one nail in my yard after they left! I really liked that the owner would stop by while the guys were working to make sure everything was going okay. Plus my roof looks great! I will recommend Excel to everyone I know. They really did a great job and I am very pleased!

Well, we had Excel come out originally for our fence project only not knowing that their parent company Excel Construction was a full service remodeling company. This was great for us because we bundled the deal with our basement project and saved some money using one contractor. Our project coordinator ,Shane, was fantastic and was very in-tune with our vision of the perfect basement. Even though it was a small area to work with he managed to make it work to fit our needs.The crew was always on time and there everyday till the project was complete. Great job!!!!

From start to finish this was a good experience overall. I liked the fact that what was promised was done.

I called Excel to get an estimate and spoke to Jessica - she was very helpful and took down detailed notes on how to get to my home. On the day of the appointment with Charlie, he called my house, said he was running late and said "I hope you won't be angry with me". I reassured him that it was not a problem, asked him if he had received the directions, upon which he read the directions to me verbatim that I had given to Jessica. I reinforced a few of the land marks ( my garage, the POD, the neighbor's mailbox) with him before hanging up. His statement "angry with me" would prove to be a a projection of how he would present himself. Twenty minutes later I grabbed a phone and went outside to wait for Charlie. The phone rang and Charlie says "I'm sitting in front of your neighbor's house and I can't see your house" and he starts to move his car to go out the access road. So I tell him that I can see him, stop driving and I'll come to him, but he doesn't listen, he keeps talking over me, and keeps on moving; again I tell him to stop & look to his right where I was standing 25' away from him. When he pulls into my driveway he raises his voice at me & starts to RANT "Why don't you let Charlie make you some signs around here? I've been driving around for 15 minutes! You need some signs!" I replied "Why?" in a calm voice as most people don't struggle finding the house with my directions. "That's it!" he proclaimed. "You've got a bad attitude!" he yells at me. "I'm not doing this project for you!" and gets in his car to drive off. And THAT was the owner of the company who warned me that I should not be angry with him.......

The workers were on time, very pleasant and professional. Price grade - C (The job was to replace the ones that were broken).

Ken and his crew arrived about 7am and worked steadily both days to complete the work. Everyone was professional and the work was completed to my satisfaction.

Charlie was on time and very honest & open when providing his quote. His team was very professional, on time, cleaned up after themselves and did a great job of taking down our old fence and installing a new one in challenging area (the woods) and in a snowy winter!
