Best contractor experience I could ever ask for

It went very well. This compay offered many more options to fully waterproof my basement than other companies who came out to the house - and for less money! I've not had one drop of water in the basement since the work was done. They even corrected a more minor problem that has existed for many years that allowed water to seep over the basement doorway from the outside when leaves , etc. built up in the ouside stairway to the basement. Aside from the water coming in, this created constant mold. Since this was corrected when the waterproofing was done there has been no mold either. I no longer dread going downstairs to do laundry. I couldn't be happier with the work that was done.

The entire process with this company was great. When something unfortunate happens like a flood in your basement, the best thing to make you feel better is discussing it with someone who is knowledgeable and has a game plan to help. This is the way I felt. Pat came out and seemed to know what my issue was with my basement when I really didn't. I didn't feel like I was being sold anything that I didn't need. I did the rule of thumb by having a few companies come out to do estimates. Basement Waterproofing Nationwide seemed the most knowledgeable with a better idea of how to handle the repair. It made the most sense. The estimate cost was what I believed to be fair. When the workers arrived, they were on time (early, in fact) and ready to work. My job took two days and the crew really worked. Aside for the sound of jack hammering, they were quiet and professional. They protected the immediate area surrounding their work area with plastic to keep work dust off of my belongings. They were always fine with me coming into the work area to see progress and were willing to explain what they were doing and why they were doing it. There was good attention to detail even toward the end as Tom was laying concrete. He let it dry enough to brush the required lines into it and gave it the finishing touches. Finally, the crew tested the system that they put in and it worked perfectly as designed. It was a good feeling seeing it all working right. You could tell that the crew had worked together before, as they worked efficiently and everyone did their part. Pat returned while they were working and again when they completed the job to make sure everything was being done correctly as we had discussed. The lifetime warranty attached to their work also gives me good peace of mind. I couldn't have asked for better service and I'll definitely recommend this company in the future.

Kim was fantastic and very professional in explain the inspection process. He was very honest and open while explain how sump pumps work. I learned a lot from him. I would highly recommend him for future jobs. Great job Kim.

I found them through Angie's List. The actual quality of the work was poor. They were friendly and easy to work with; I liked the people, it just the worked s*cked. The basement still is not dry. To get a higher grade they could have better quality of work. For $8,000 they came out and installed a sump pump and did not install an outlet or even run an extension cord. This was in an investment property and they never even tested it to see if it would work. The concrete was not smooth and the cracks were not filled in. They did not do a good job. It was no better than it was before.

They did a great job - we had three estimates and ultimately chose to go with this company. They did a great job. We are pleased with the work. Not like the other two offers we had, one company suggested that we installed a waterproofing system, which is definitely overkill for our problem. The other would require messy digging outside the house. BWN provided the right kind of remediation for our small leaking problem which was what we needed. Another big plus is all staffs were so pleasant to work with. We definitely recommend this company.

I'm not going to have them back in. They don't do mold remediation like other basement waterproofing companies do. I would advise anyone that if you get a basement waterproofing contractor to make sure they do mold remediation. That should be part of their service. The cement that they used, they did not use the right amount and did not pour the right thickness and if I was to put any furniture on it , it would just crack.

The team was very professional, taking 2 days to complete the installation. The digging was very well done, hopefully not causing any major grass issues (will only know over time). The only compliant I have would be the accidental cutting of my Verizon line...and of course the team didn't do it on purpose and were visibly upset about the issue but a little more care could have been taken in that area. However, I'd still work with them in the future.

BWN was mostly easy to work with. The customer service rep, Kim, who came out to do the estimate was professional, knowledgeable, and responsive. The team that came out to do the installation was also very professional, prompt, and did great work. They accidentally broke one of our window well covers, but showed it to me and came back a couple of weeks later and installed a replacement. I appreciated this, because my guess is that many companies would simply have put the broken cover back on and would not have pointed it out. My only complaint is that their installation department was a little unresponsive and hard to get a hold of. Ultimately, I was able to go through our customer service rep to get movement on the installation and window well replacement. I would recommend them and hire them again for future work.

They didn't do the best job cleaning up or marking off the area of work. They had to break up the concrete with a jackhammer and the dust was everywhere. It would have been nice to have had a blanket or something over the entrance. I had to go through and clean up everything. The interactions I had with them were great. The salesperson was great and the followup was great as well.

I worked closely with one of the salesmen who provided a quote and a complete explanation of the work to be done. I was unsure if I needed basement waterproofing since I believed the flooding of my basement had occurred through special circumstances, but in any case, he explained what they would do in detail. In the end, I decided to cancel the service. What I am most impressed with, is they returned my deposit, which was substantial, very quickly and were very understanding for why I canceled the service. I would recommend them just for their professionalism and customer service.

Excellent. It has been almost a year and I've had no problems. They were very good. They explained everything from the beginning to the end. The money was well worth it. I'm pleased. Chris was great. He knew what he was talking about and got it done. They cleaned as they went and when they were finished everything was neat. I didn't have to do a thing. I would definitely would recommend them to anyone.

So far so good - we havent' had any water since the work was done. I was very happy with the salesman (Chris D.) as well as the crew who spent two days working the issue (Joe H. and TJ). Everyone was so pleasant to work with and they really took the time to explain in detail the process and how it would work. They did not try to "upsell" me on a large basement system as we really needed to address this issue before we would really know if there was a problem. Some other companies did try the upsell while ignoring the gaping hole in the ground. I cannot speak highly enough of my process with BWN, from the first estimate through my many questions through completion of work. I almost cancelled the first appointment because of my other experriences with basement waterproofers - I just didn't think they were the company to address my issue. When I called to cancel they said they really would like to come out - and I am so glad they did. We are having some major melting now and so far no water. I will be keeping my eye on it - if we do get water BWN will be my first call!

While I did not realize it at the time, this actually went very badly. I had been having a slow leak in my basement that was gradually leaking through to larger and larger areas of my carpeting. The Basement Waterproofing Nationwide associate, Kim Shibley, arrived on time and was very professional in his demeanor. He inspected the problem area of my basement and surmised that the problem was related to either a ground water leak or a surface water leak. He recommended installation of a sump pump, and vapor barrier and drain board for the walls. Altogether, these repairs would cost $2950. They included tearing up the sidewalk in order to ensure that the sump pump correctly drained outside. Unfortunately, the problem was not properly diagnosed. An associate from another company came out and and quickly figured out that the problem emanated from a slow leak due to a busted water pipe. He advised calling a plumber. If I had gone ahead with the repairs recommend by Basement Waterproofing Nationwide, I would have been out $2950 and my problem still would not have been fixed. I believe that companies of this nature should first concentrate on properly diagnosing the problem prior to pushing their sales pitch so hard.

They installed a french drain and pump and installed water proofing on the walls. Initially I thought some of the workers were not really the best, so I called and a manager came out and was very honest and acknowledged their faults and came out and fixed all the issues. I was very impressed with this, he was very responsible. They ended up doing a fantastic job in the end.

Initial work was fine. Crew was friendly and competent and got right to work. during the course of the work, our utility sink in the basement drain pipe cracked--possibly hit with the jackhammer. After several calls to the main office, the crew came back and repaired the drain/trap. also addressed another leak in an older pipe that flowed into the water line.

Chris arrived right on time to give us an estimate. We felt the price was very good so we signed the paperwork that night. We received a call within a few days to schedule the work but unfortunately because Basement Waterproofing was very busy as that point, we did have to wait about 6 weeks for the work to be performed, which was the first appointment available. The crew showed up on time for the appointment and stayed until the work was completed. We have had several storms since the work was performed and the basement has remained dry We really appreciate the good work that was done.

Chris arrived promptly for our appointment. We recently had to open up a basement wall due to a pipe leak, and there were some cracks in the cinder block mortar which the mold remediators suggested we have examined. Another company looked at the wall and immediately told me that I needed waterproofing and a sump pump ($$$$). Chris was completely honest and explained various options but that he did not think that we needed to address the cracks. He really took the time to explain why he had the opinion that he did, but at the same time, he did not spend an excessive amount of time in our home. His honesty was refreshing and so very appreciated. I hope to never need to use this company, but I will definitely call them in the future if I need to. I know they would give me an honest assessment.

Kim came to the house and evaluated what work should be done. His analysis was the most reasonable in that he was replacing an old system and whereas other contractors wanted to move the location of one of the sump crocks he argued that the water had found its way to the location of the crocks and new ones should be installed in the same locations. The job was to be two days and they brought in four or five people, Evan was the crew chief and he was very professional. When they broke into the floor they found things a bit different than expected and made some adjustments after consulting with Pat at the home office. The second and final day their truck broke down at the shop and they called to tell me they would be two hours late, that is the reason I put a "C" for punctuality. The Fortress straps went up on the slightly-bowed wall but they mistakenly added 1/4" holes for fasteners for a vapor barrier, two of the holes were put into the Fortress carbon fiber straps. After they left I noticed the holes and called. Pat answered and told me the holes would not negate the warranty and he sent me an e-mail from the manufacturer saying so. He was very helpful in easing my concerns. Evan, the crew chief called and said he would patch the holes they mistakenly put up for the vapor barrier on that wall. We scheduled that for October, it is only cosmetic. We have had a few good rains and the job looks good. The concrete they put over the drainage system, the wall board, the drain board, the new crocks, and concrete around it looks really nice. We don't even hear the sump pumps running anymore with the new pumps and crocks and covers. We are happy with the job.

Chris provided the estimates for work. He was great to work with - listened to exactly what I was looking for, not looking for, budget, etc. He provided several options that covered various scopes of work, including written estimates for each. He provided suggestions along the way and explained everything thoroughly, but was never pushy with upselling. When I was ready, he stopped back at the house to finalize the contract and ensure the scope of work was written correctly. The installer arrived on time, and completed the work according to schedule. The cement work at the pump looked great I thought. He was very considerate during the whole process, working to minimize impact on me while I was working from home. I really appreciated that.

The supervisor and (4) workers arrived on time for the job daily. The supervisor was present throughout the whole project and all were very professional and courteous. The work was completed in the stated time (3 days) as per the contract. All waste was completely removed and the area was left cleaned. We would certainly recommend this company to others in need of waterproofing.

We found BWN through Angie's List originally. They were able to help us diagnose some water seepage problems in our basement which were likely being caused by blocked weep holes in our brick front face. After opening those up and also doing some basic caulking and maintenance inspections, we immediately had them set to work on a second problem we found. A second source of water coming into our sub-flooring from the garage and home wall. Turns out improper flashing from the builder (20yo home) on the roof near a cheek joint was causing long term unseen damage to the sub-floor. They inspected, treated, repaired/replaced anything that was done improper or was damaged. We've seen several faces of BWN with these two jobs, everyone is respectful, professional and the owner is very hands on. The integrity of the company comes not only from the work they can provide but the people themselves.

The owner of company patiently and clearly explained the process and the work to be done--once when we were getting estimates and again when had selected his company to do the work. He explained the inspection that would be required before beginning work (separate company and charge). Explained how the basement had to be prepared for the work. This included removing a plywood floor that had been installed years previously in a section of the basement. When demolishing the floor, we discovered that it had been bolted into the cement with at least 40 bolts. Grinding down these bolts flush with floor required a change order and so an extra (and fair) charge. The crew of six came on time on dates promised. They took preventive measures to keep dust down, including usage of air scrubber during work. We had specifically asked for this before signing the contract--and so it was put in the contract. They were courteous and competent. The foreman explained what was going on throughout the job. The job took 2 days, which surprised us, thinking such a large job would take longer. When I had one concern and one question after the job was finished and paid for, the owner got back to me quickly and took care of them. My only warning: read items on contract aloud to owner before signing before initialing each one to make sure that what the contract reads matches exactly your understanding of each item. When the job was completed, I was surprised about one item. Re-reading the contract, I saw that it what was done was as I had signed off on, not as I had understood it vis-a-vis the notes I took when the owner explained the job to me. The fault was mine, not his. This is just for prospective customers to be aware of. The job has a lifetime warranty. I highly recommend this company.

It went well, it's working great so far. They told us to observe it for a year before we do anything further.
