The window replacement went great. They were in and out pretty quickly. My problem is with the cleanup. They did a decent job indoors, although I still found little small pieces here and there. Outside however was a different story. They picked up large pieces, that I would say are anything larger than an inch. Anything smaller than that, and they just left them there. This is difficult to see from afar, but when you're walking by the front yard, you can def notice it. Also left on the ground was a large amount of glass, which is very problematic as I have a small child and a dog. My wife and I have done 3 passes in consecutive weekends to make sure we have it all up and each pass has resulted in at least one additional piece of glass found. I think the trick would be to monitor the cleanup more. I think I expected them to be professional and to do a thorough policing of the area. Another thing of note, was this was a Friday installation, and I wonder if they were rushing to get out and be done with the week. Disappointed in myself partially because I know I should've done a more thorough review of the outside before signing off. Also disappointed in the installers, as I would've expected them to do a more thorough job.

My wife and I wanted to replace our 25 yrs old windows, so I contacted Weathermaster for a quote. I received an email and a phone call the same day with valuable info about different type of windows and prices. The next day we received a package with all necessary details that we needed to make our decision. We looked online and found a few other companies , but we compared quality and prices, and believe it or not, weather master was the cheapest. We signed a contract with them and paid the required deposit. In three weeks as promised, all windows were installed properly with no complaints. I delayed to write a review because I wanted to give it some times to make sure that everything was fine with no .hidden issues or surprises. Today my family is enjoying the new windows, my daughter has no problem to open and close them, and the most important one my electricity bill went down. I will recommend this company to anyone and by the way don't forget to ask for Scott Newsome . He was the guy that I spoke to on the phone and through out the whole process.

I ordered seven windows for a typical row home in Baltimore. Our stock windows were literally falling apart. Wooden frames were heavily rotting. Most of the windows could not be opened at all. Another very cheap and reputable national installer, who gives "deep discounts" quoted my $4,500 for seven windows. This was done about a year after we absolutely needed one window installed, which cost $900. But I wasn't satisfied with their quote, so I found WeatherMaster Custom Windows. Herb at WeatherMaster came by with his demo stuff, including a tiny show window and a heat lamp. He was ready to give me the low-down on what to expect in window purchasing, but I had already done most of my homework, since I learned about Low-E glass and the available types of glass. Still however, Herb's use of the heat lamp to demonstrate heat transfer through glass is an eye-opener. I could barely feel heat with my hand just two feet from the Low-E glass, but even eight feet from the lamp while standing outside, the heat transfer was felt through my own standard glass. Herb is able to explain windows because he's done them for so long. He gave me an estimate that made me step back. Taxes? Installation fees? No, Herb said, the quoted price is the install price, period. What I thought might have been about the same price as the national window company, was actually thousands less. For SEVEN windows. Installed, with argon-filled Low-E glass. Metal frames surrounded by vinyl. Please indulge me as I try to help. Herb came by the following week to measure all windows. Windows are then custom-built, which simply, takes time. He said it would be about 4-6 weeks but that typically, 4 weeks is the better estimate. The windows were ready in about that time. Don't rush them in, because it simply takes that long for the materials to be cut, molded, and welded together. Regarding this company, they said that there is a size threshold to consider. My windows were six smaller ones and one larger one (37 inches wide), and as long as the window size is SMALLER than the threshold size, each window will cost the same. No hidden prices there. The work crew just finished installing all windows, which took them about 3 hours. I think the exterior caulking could have been smoother on several of the frames outside, but the caulking inside and out, were done to seal the windows as best as they could. By the time they finished installing the exterior vinyl the facade looks 100pct better than the old windows. They are much easier to maintain and they have a 20 year warranty. This has been my first experience in purchasing a home filled with replacement windows. I had read other reviews where the lead time was too long, or the install wasn't correct. Each end every window fit well. Each one was installed properly. And they took all the refuse away. One thing I truly noticed that hadn't been told to expect: The sound quality in our home has been improved dramatically! We had 30 year old plain glass windows, and we could hear EVERYTHING outside. Small talk, our loudmouth neighbor Troy (we love him), cars going by, or the generator humming from the school across the street. Just now I saw a couple talking across the street, and I literally could not hear their conversation as they talked. Cars now pass, and the sound seems more muffled now. It's quite an impressive improvement. Within the next day or so, our first cold front should pass. I can imagine that the draft will be much less than with our old windows. Troy was talking to himself again, and while it cannot stop the Mouth of Troy, it did muffle it better. For the price I couldn't beat the value. In closing, here's an update about that expected storm: we just had a pretty decent amount of rain from the nor'easter/hurricane that passed off the coast. Gusts of wind and rain that was constant over almost four days were absolutely no problem. I see how we will have much more comfort in our homes, plus an amount of energy savings. I used to feel the breeze and outside temperature seeping into EVERY old window, but have zero issues with outside influence today. And it's also a good selling point that all my windows and doors are now EnergyStar compliant. They said I could get a tiny rebate for sending people there (as all companies do that) but I'm reviewing this glowingly because I'm so satisfied.

READ WHOLE REVIEW. Note: New model 4700e is better than the review below but very similar. Bottom Line Up Front: Probably the best window on the market for the price but don't expect too much. I'd give them 2.75 stars out of 5. Company President is very nice, honest, knowledgeable and responsive. After thorough visual inspection and comparing against almost every window imaginable, we bought the 4700e with aluminum window wrap around the wood frames. The windows look pretty good from the inside and outside (don't expect high end fit and finish). Although technically Energy Star, the government standards are too low (not WeatherMaster's fault but they could and should publish the air infiltration rates). The low-e glass works well but all the windows get condensation inside the house (even with low relative humidity) at temperatures 20F and below. I'm very surprised because the research and advertising at the time indicated they were resistant to this sweating at much colder temps. The installers were very fast (1 day for 19 windows) but had to come back to fix poor wrap job that left the tops open to the elements. However, the supervisor quickly assessed the issue and had it resolved promptly within a week or so. Additionally, nicks on wall/trim paint occurred due to being too fast. A casement window was ordered/installed in the wrong direction but fixed promptly. And the windows, although technically within "standards", aren't perfectly aligned. Most of the crew worked very hard but, had they slowed down a bit the install would have been better. The 4700e has one of the best glass to sash ratios with greater viewing area. The air and sound infiltration is a little better than the original 1978 wood single pane window with additional metal storm window. Don't expect too much unless you get the triple pane and even then the houses here in Columbia are thin walled. However, the ease of opening and cleaning the 4700e is much better. The screens are NOT "High Definition" but they are suppose to be more durable but more noticeable than the HD. The casement windows screen frame is off white while the window itself is bright white which was disappointing. The double pane 4700e come in one color--white. We have white trim so it looks pretty good. The windows are probably equivalent to current day contractor grade standard--meaning the cheapest window possible that won't break in a few years. Would I do it again? Undecided. If you have a tight, energy efficient house, there are better windows than WeatherMasters. But, if you have a typical Columbia, MD house without plywood sheathing or house wrap (~Tyvek), and don't plan on upgrading, the WeatherMaster 4700e will be an OK window based on quality and cost-benefit. Dollar for dollar, you'll have a hard time finding a better window at this price point. Just don't have unrealistically high expectations. After much reflection, you get what you pay for...choose one: You can have better or faster or cheaper, but you can't have all three. Don't dismiss them outright but know what you really need and want. And if you choose them be prepared to inspect closely and deal with the inevitable issues (in a courteous and professional manner of course).

Dishonest and unprofessional. These words sum up our experience with the company. We could go on and on, but this is a summary of a few of the complaints (sorry it’s so long). The saga started in Oct 2013. We have multiple complaints with the company and the window job; the whole thing has been a headache from beginning to end; in fact it has not ended yet. On every issue, we noticed it and brought it up, otherwise they would not have said anything. They refused to honor the original contract, and wanted to increase the price after we signed and paid the deposit. They refused to let us out of the contract even though they were the ones changing it. After all the back and forth, we were so frustrated that we signed a modified changed contract so we could just get it done since they were not letting us out of it. The windows were not ordered or installed correctly, and the customer service was not adequate or effective. We have 18 windows and a patio door, but they only ordered 17 windows and then put another customer’s window and patio door in, which were different windows/U rating than what we ordered. They deliberately ordered fewer windows than what we needed so they could pass off some previous customer’s windows off on us—they even had the other customer’s name written on them! We paid extra money for full screens, but there are 4 holes on each screen due to the design of the full screen. We ordered and paid for sill replacement for all sills at the time of the contract. When the installers came they didn't have any sills with them and did not replace or repair any sills. They also didn’t bring a ladder, though it was clearly written in the order that one was needed. The second time they came out they asked me to sign some papers. When I started to look at them to see what I was signing, he said I couldn't see them! WeatherMaster has shown a lack of professionalism in writing a contract they couldn’t honor, in incorrectly ordering windows, in coming out without basic tools to do their job and in not responding when issues came up. On top of that, they turn everything back on us instead of apologizing or admitting they did something wrong. If they have been in business for 28 years, how can they be so shocked that they need a ladder and shoe covers, or know what’s involved in enlarging a window and how to order correctly? Beware! If a customer is not paying attention, everything might look fine, but then they might have an illegal non-tempered window in the bathroom (like we would have had), or rotten sills under the new wrapping (like we do and still there), or different windows than what were ordered (like we do). In every step, we had to be vigilant and notice things or WeatherMaster would have been content to do the wrong thing. We opened a case with BBB (case # 36099275) but it has not helped to resolve anything, though the BBB caseworker has been very helpful.

This is the best experiences that we have had purchasing windows and will order from them in the future. The quality of our windows is suburb. Ed's guidance was second to none. Price was excellent. Measurements were accurately made by John within two days. Windows were ordered from the factory immediately. Tina kept in touch on a regular basis. When the windows came in to Weather Master, she contacted us. They were expertly installed the next day by Albert and Russell. They cleaned up when finished. This Company Team far exceeded our expectations. We got our windows on time.

Positives: prompt courteous estimates, scheduling and fantastic installation team Windows provide great insulation. No problems with double-hung windows. |Negatives: Don't expect timely resolution to manufacturer-related problems|-Did not manufacture casement handle style contracted; WM tried to correct handle style but manufactured base was incorrect (no acknowledgment where the breakdown was)|-Two casements had sash defects: one-small chip and other-slight bend/dent|-Awning screen wavy/loose-WM adjusted screen but screen frame now gaps |WM customer service said the WM owner was discussing my concerns with the manufacturer. After a month, I was told by WM to directly follow-up with the manufacturer. The manufacturer said someone would follow-up after Thanksgiving- still no word.|In short, WeatherMaster windows provide great insulation at a good price. |Be wary of timely professional responsiveness to manufacturer-related problems|Warning: To activate the warranty, the customers must submit their customer satisfaction survey within about 10 days post-installation; this is often prior to a customer potentially knowing if they have any problems. Had to call to request my warranty copy; this was also noted by another reviewer.

Went well. Workmen were friendly and efficient, explained things along the way, cleaned up after themselves well. Windows are a beautiful, tight, easy-to-use product. House is NOTICABLY warmer and draft-free.Lifetime warrenty that transfers to next owner as well as an Energy Star rebate were reasons why I chose WeatherMaster, as well as their reputation and a personal referral from a neighbor who had used them. Salesman came to house. Knew his job very well. Price was in the middle of 3 estimates. Angie's list rated them a B but my sister used them and was very pleased. So we went with them. Man came to measure the windows. Very nice man and was on time. Told us that it would take about two to four weeks to make the windows and door. Same thing the salesman said. About two and half weeks later we get a call windows and door were done, set the a date to install. Two men came on the date and time. The two men were great, craftsmen on installing windows. Windows out new in , no mess GREAT. Comes to the door. The men said that the door was a little bigger them should have been. They said they could make it fit but would rather call the boss. The boss stopped, the men told him about the door. They told the men and me to finish the door. I told the boss I would like to speak his boss before they finished the door. The boss was the owner of the business. While talking with him about the door on what was said with workers and the foreman, the owner became (excuse the words) a NUMBER ONE A******. Told the foreman to leave the house. Talked to the workers, they told me not to worry, the door would look great and will work. Work was done. I would rate them a A if you don't have to talk to the foreman or the owner. If they get into the act "F".

My masterbedroom windows created a leak in my kitchen when it rained. After contacting a handyman and a roofing company I finally found a company that discovered my problem was the windows above my kitchen bay window. I contacted Weathermaster in November. The windows were installed in mid-January. One window did have a crack in it, which I pointed out to the installer. A new window was ordered in Almond, the color of all the windows. Unfortunately the replacement was delivered in Cream. The second replacement was correct. Overall I was pleased with the windows. It did take a little longer than I expected for the windows to be delivered, but I did order them the weekend before Thanksgiving. They were able to install on one of my days off in January.

I hired WeatherMaster to replace all the windows (6) and sliding doors (2) in a condo. I had to resort to filing a Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) complaint to try to get the work fixed. A quick summary of WeatherMaster’s work: installed cracked window, installed windows incorrectly (they fell out), latch springs didn’t work correctly, sliding door didn’t close properly/ lifts out of frame, dirty windows, damaged walls. Neither the installers or WeatherMaster brought these flaws to my attention, in their opinion the installation was done 100% correct and had no intentions of fixing anything. The installation was horrible and the General Manager was defensive and rude. He repeatedly said “nothing is perfect.” If I knew their attitude ahead of time my payment wouldn’t have been in the ‘perfect’ amount. I had to take off work on two separate occasions for WeatherMaster to come out and inspect/fix their work, work that should have been done right the first time. The experience was not only frustrating but cost me money for time taken off work. The 2 sliding doors that were installed can be lifted off the tracks and moved vertically 1-2 inches. I had a general contractor inspect the doors and he confirmed they are incorrect. Weathermaster claims the doors are installed to factory specifications and refuses to fix them. One of the doors did not close/lock properly, WeatherMaster fixed this. The general manager, company president, and original installer also spent 2 hours fixing something on the sliding door I didn’t even know what incorrect. The windows (inside and out) are dirty from the install. There are also black marks on the white frames. I expected the windows to be clean after the install. Weathermaster refuses to clean the windows and remove the stickers from the windows. When they returned for repairs they offered to clean the windows; I had previously cleaned then because the condo was going on the market and pictures taken. The installers left very visible scuff marks on the walls and a dent in the wall that needs to be patched. The drywall around the windows was chipped off down to the metal frame. When WeatherMaster returned to make repairs they patched the dent and cleaned the scuff marks off the walls. The top of one installed windows falls out of the frame when trying to close the window. There is a and frac12; inch gap between the window pane and the frame. WeahterMaster corrected the install on their 3rd visit. Another window was installed with a crack. The spring on the frame of another window is defective. The sliding screen of another door does not work properly. WeatherMaster correctly all these defects on their 3rd visit. After the install, Weathermaster did not provide the warranty paperwork (which must be completed within 10 days). After re-reading the contract I realized it was missing and had to call to request it. The paperwork should have been provided at the time of install.

Response from WeatherMaster Windows
While we at WeatherMaster realize that we are not perfect and not every job goes as planned, it is time to set the record straight on this one. First and most importantly, while [Member name removed] states she "had to resort to filing a Maryland Home Improvement Commission complaint to try to get the work fixed," MHIC records show: 1. WeatherMaster's General Manager had already visited the job site on December 19, 2012 (just one day after the installation), 2. we had already ordered and received parts from the manufacturer, and 3. we had been trying to schedule a service appointment with [Member name removed] since January 18, over 2 weeks prior to her filing her February 6 MHIC complaint. Indeed, we were quite surprised by this complaint since our General Manager met her on site, the very next day after installation where he addressed her concerns and assured her we were already working to take care of most of them. The Maryland Home Improvement Commission complaint was subsequently closed, and no penalties were levied at WeatherMaster. In fact, if [Member name removed] had stayed at the rental property until completion of the installation (as she was supposed to), our mechanics would have had the opportunity to show her the items we would be ordering the next day, and go over the corrections they would be making on their return visit. The statement that "in their opinion the installation was done 100% correct and had no intentions of fixing anything" could not be farther from the truth. [Member name removed] even noted in her 3rd paragraph that we spent 2 hours fixing something she didn't even know was incorrect. We noticed something that could be better and we fixed it, because that's the right thing to do. The assessment that the "windows fell out" is an over exaggeration. The window latches simply required adjustment so the sashes fit snuggly in the frame. A "1/2 inch gap between the window pane and the frame"-- really? We'll see if we can post some photos taken at the time of the service appointment. The sliding doors were installed to manufacturer's and industry standards. There were no defects; it was simply a matter of preference. The doors come with a bottom mounted door stop to prevent damage if the door is opened too forcefully. As a result, a hard open will cause a very slight tilt or movement in the frame. The doors cannot be removed from the outside and poses no security issue. The very simple solution offered to [Member name removed], and eventually accepted after much trial, completely corrected it. We arranged to demonstrate this at our office on December 21, 2012 but she did not keep that appointment. Additionally, we offered to show her 4 to 5 other manufacturers' models (including Andersen) that are built and operate similarly, even offering to meet her at Home Depot or Lowe's to look them over in person. She declined. There was incidental damage to drywall during installation and it was ALWAYS something we intended to correct. We have been serving Maryland, DC and Virginia for 27 years and have an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau. Common sense dictates that if we routinely treat our customers as badly as indicated in this complaint, we would no longer be in business. We recognize there are always unintended challenges and there are those occasions where things don't go perfectly. What matters is how you address these challenges, and with [Member name removed] we were attentive and diligent in trying to satisfy her requests and made every effort to conclude as quickly as possible. I hope all who read this take this into account before deciding if WeatherMaster is the right choice for you.

Good overall. However, I didn't buy the and quot;cappingand quot; service because it was not properly explained to me. I realized that the contractors had not removed my old storm windows and screens, which I assumed would be done, and when I called, I was told that this was only included if you buy the capping. I am not sure I believe that actually, to be honest.

The installation was done very professionally and promptly. The vinyl windows feel a little cheap, but that's what I ordered because I didn't want to spend alot of money and the company was recommended by a friend who only had a few windows replaced. The original price was very good. My main complain was with Jeff the salesman. He really tried the hard sell on me. I really wanted some more time to explore my options, perhaps see the windows in a showroom. He told me there wasn't any showroom (which I later learned was incorrect) and pressured me to make the decision during his first and only visit to my house. He strongly directed me toward one particular window design without really doing a good job explaining the tradeoffs between the different possible designs. Nor do I recall him showing me samples of more than one window type. Under the advice of the salesman I ordered an extra coating for energy efficiency. Big mistake. I live in a shady street with little direct sunlight, the extra coating was like sunglasses for my house. It blocked alot of the light and turned everything inside a greenish hue. I should have rejected the hard sales tactics and insisted on seeing the exact window designs in the showroom and perhaps compared them to other alternatives offered by other companies. The company offered to replace most of the windows in my house at cost, which turned out to be about another $1000 for 8 new sets of window sashes. After the windows were replaced my house brightened considerably. It wasn't altogether too bad of an outcome considering how bad it could have been had they dismissed my complaints. Nevertheless, I'm still a little perplexed as to why I was originally sold green tinted windows when my house has so little direct sunlight. A professional should have realized immediately that tinted windows were not appropriate for my house.
Description of Work: Fourteen double hung windows in my house were replaced with vinyl double hung storm windows. The windows were removed with very little damage to the interior molding. Alumimum finishing or caps were professionally installed on the outside of each window. The outside ledge of the of kitchen window was partially rebuilt as a result of some rot.

The initial service was great, when I called to have a salesperson come out was fine. Once a contract was in place and the order was placed the troubles begin. First the delivery and installers were late, then one of the guys had to go back to get the windows because they picked up the wrong ones (this was another hour before they could begin install). After the windows are installed I look at the window and one has a crack all they way down, I alert the installers and he says and quot; he knows this is not uncommon and it came from the manufactor this way and to call the company to have a service ticket put in.and quot; I call the company to say that the window was received damanged and to get a date for it to be repaired. I was told I would have to wait until the installers called them and they would put in a ticket, I stated that I did not want to pay for the windows until they were completely installed. Both Tina and Ed the customer service rep and the manager stated this was not acceptable, however I could withhold 25.00 because that would be the cost of the pane that was cracked in addition I could not have the window repaired until January (to date it is not repaired). They also stated the glass came from the manufactor broken; I asked why was I not told prior to and had to discover this on my own? No answer for that. In any case, in my opinion the company left a bad taste in my mouth and I would not refer or use them again.
