Dropped off a Toro lawnmower that had been working before the winter and now was making a lot of white smoke. When I brought it for servicing, they said the lawnmower would need a tuneup, oil change, and they will fix the smoking issue. They said that it will 3 weeks to repair. I received a call to pick it up, however, with 4 days. When I came by to pick it up, they went on a grand treasure hunt for my mower, while I waited. During this time, I was forced to watch the owner berating and cursing at his workers. During my wait, I also saw 3 more customers came in to complain about unnecessary and shoddy work - making me feel very uncomfortable. When they finally found my mower, over an hour later, they told that me that they had changed the oil and filters, did a tune-up, and cut some grass and did not see any smoke. Grand total $81.00. But after seeing the quality of the employees and owner, I was suspicious so I removed the oil filter cover - and lo and behold - the old oil filter was still there and never replaced. They apologized for the oversight and replaced it. Then I checked the oil level and the mower was empty - so they filled it up and apologized for the oversight. I asked for proof that tune-up and repairs were completed and was told the technician who worked on my mower had already left for the day, but was assured that it was done. Got home and turned on the mower to mow the lawn, and you guessed it - thick white smoke starts pouring out just like it did when I brought it in. Bottom Line: High prices, shoddy - perhaps even - fraudulent workmanship, and a terrible experience overall. Stay far away.

Everything went well. I took the lawn mower in because some bad gas with dirt, oil and possibly water in it took it out of commission. I tried replacing the spark plug and that didn't make a difference. Every self help site I read said that the next thing to do was to take the carburetor apart and clean it out. This was beyond my ability so I took it in. When I explained my problem, the technician there said that a tune up should fix the problem and it should be done by the next day. The next day I came and everything worked. He even got the self propel feature to work. I didn't even bother telling him about it because I thought that it would cost extra and I don't use it anyway.
Description of Work: Lawn mower tuneup that involved replacing spark plug, sharpening blade, cleaning out the carburetor and probably other things that I don't know about.
