Little Shop of Hardware Has been my and quot;go toand quot; place for computer advice and service for about 15 years. They are locally owned small business that will custom build desktop PCs to meet your specification, set up your local network, or repair your ailing gear. They also offer a variety of used equipment at very good prices. I have used their services both for my home computer hobby interests as well as for workststions and the network in my wife's office.
Description of Work: Little Shop of Hardware has been my "go to" place

Mixed. Called me before due date, saying it was working, but that virus protection software wouldn't load on old system. I agreed to updgrade. Saved my files as far as I can see. Got it home and with my equipment did NOT connect to Internet (though a laptop did with same cables and modem). Called and no one other than the person who worked on it could help, and he wouldn't be in for two days. Other worker was reluctant to spend his time to help me, despite my having paid for a repair that didn't work. 1/2 to an hour of his time was worth more the several days of mine, it seemed. *I* spent half an hour searching the internet, diagnosed the problem from a mfg support site, got a replacement Network card and fixed it myself. I don't doubt that they got my machine to connect, but I don't know how, and they didn't do any kind of organized inventory of my disk before upgrading so I will have to dig out my old Office disks to re-establish basics like Word and Excel.
Description of Work: Checked for problem with connection to Internet, removed spyware, upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, added virus protection.

My contacts with the staff went, if not from bad to worse, then from indifferent to dismissive. I called to check on my laptop to be told it was ready. When I arrived, they could not locate the machine then determined, when it was found, that it had not in fact been examined or fixed. This happened twice. The third time I cited the previous times and asked that they double and triple check that the work had been performed. When I arrived it still took 30 minutes for them to locate my laptop and find my information in their customer database. Ironic, given that they are computer folk. Worse still, the machine wasn't fixed, in that the same problem happened nearly immediately. Turned out that some internal heat modulator had to be replaced. It seems that the Little Shop of Hardware should have been able to figure this out.
Description of Work: I was having a problem with the computer repeatedly freezing. I took it in for an inspection and repair.
