My name is Mary Landen---I'm the detail-oriented person you want handling your home projects. A long-time Baltimore resident, I found my way to this career after many years as an insurance executive.
I know what it's like juggling home renovation and maintenance projects while working full time. It's next to impossible! Now that I'm pursuing my career passion -- decluttering, organizing, redesigning, upgrading and maintaining homes -- I welcome the chance to take these responsibilities off your shoulders.
Using my innate creative abilities -- and my Environmental Sciences degree from the University of North Carolina -- I can resolve most any home decor, maintenance or organizational issue and do so in an efficient and cost-conscious manner. An ecologically-conscious problem solver, I will take on your projects, large and small, in a manner that compliments your needs and wishes.

Mary was great. She not only helped motivate us to sort through things and to get rid of stuff, but she also gave us methods to use so we could work in between appointments with her. It's hard to throw stuff out, but she helped us sort out the reasons why we were keeping certain things and then either figure out a way where we would utilize it for that purpose, or get rid of it. She hauled the stuff away and gave it to charities and brought us receipts. She was professional, friendly and extremely helpful. It cost a lot, but it was worth it.

Mary Landen is the Home Coach. She is prompt, very effective and helpful. I don't know if I could have done it without her. We worked together to declutter my home from top to bottom. She took clothes, books, housewares, etc. and donated everything to non-profit groups and she gave me receipts for all. She has a Honda SUV that holds a lot of stuff! Of the 5 or 6 loads she hauled away to donate we had one small amount for the recycle pile for the Annapolis public works to collect. She did a great job helping me organize the home for showing, and she made sure that everything she took was donated. I would highly recommend her and I am most appreciative that she knows what someone else may not want, someone else will use. I highly recommend Mary Landen, The Home Coach.

It went pretty good. She basically did what I wanted to get done. She was more interested in changing furniture around and I wasn't interested in that. It was pretty expensive. I think it was about $90 an hour and I had her for 4 hours. I needed the room cleared out. I had bunch of stuff and boxes. I didn't think she was going to be able to do it in 4 hours and she did. She got the room cleared out. She is really good and quick at unpacking boxes and getting stuff put away. IF you're interested in having somebody move stuff in a way that looks better, she'll probably be good on that but I just want at all that interested.

Like I said above, she starts, day one, very professional and respectful of my space. She gets a feel for what I want to do, what is important to me, and then what she thinks may not be as important. She charges by the hour so when we work together, I have to try not to tell stories about all my stuff...I'd rather her work than chat! She gives you the best bang for your buck! When she got done organizing my basement, it was like the world was lifted off my shoulder. She has since helped organize my entire life. She also offers the service of and quot;General Contractor.and quot; If there is a job that requires work that she is unable to perform, she will find the painter, the electrician, the plumber, the whatever, to get the job done. Another plus to Mary is that recycles EVERYTHING!! If she doesn't send it to Goodwill, Value Village, or The Wise Penny, she puts an ad on Freecycle and recycles it that way! She is the BEST!!!!
Description of Work: Mary Landen has been helping me for years. She specializes in organizing, staging, redesigning and de-cluttering my work and home space. She started on my home 2 years ago and has been an amazing help. When I first hired her, I was hesitant to "let go" of my "stuff". However, after seeing the results in just one visit, I realized she knew what she was doing and for me, what was the point in holding onto things when really, they were just taking up space! She's organized my house from the attic to the basement, to my office and my closet. When I opened SASS Salon October 1, of course I could think of no one better than Mary to help figure out where and how to organize all things salon related! Mary is a Godsend, I would be lost without her.

She is wonderful has motivated me and helped me greatly in my home! She has also helped my husband and got him motivated to do work around the house!
Description of Work: I've been sick on and off for some years. She is unbelievable and I can't even say how amazing she is. She takes my recycling out and does everything I need her to do. She is the best person I have ever met and I am thrilled to have her with me. Also, one of the rooms was so cluttered in my house and she got it so clean that you couldn't even tell all the stuff was in there. I also had a huge drawer that needed to be emptied with a ton of papers and I had the motivation to empty it!

I couldn't be happier about how well it all worked out.
Description of Work: Mary was originally hired to do my basement, garage and laundry room but she ended up doing much more, helping to address many interior and exterior issues with my historic home, including the garage door, the outdoor lighting, landscape maintenance and reordering several cabinets and display pieces. She will be working with me on an ongoing basis to keep my house repairs ahead of the curve.

What words describe Mary Landen? Organizer, helper, life saver, personal assistant, director, consultant, knows what to do, where to place things, what is trash, what is treasure, why it stays, why it goes. She has insight that few people possess. She has a way of walking into a room and "seeing" how it should be. She listens, she suggests, she recommends and eventually she wins...hahaha! If it had not been for Mary entering my life and helping me organize not just my house and my stuff, but my everything...I don't know where I would be today. She has taken my life and helped me achieve Zen! Mary is truly a life saver and an amazing woman! I am blessed to have Mary in my life!
Description of Work: Organized two home offices, playroom and basement. Redesigned foyer, living room, dining room, sunroom, master bedroom and guest bedroom. Managed the restoration of antique settee -- secured furniture restorer and upholsterer and selected a great fabric. Managed the restoration of antique lamp and selected lamp shades for three lighting fixtures. Managed the acquisition of a custom-designed bench cushion and selected an appropriate fabric. Managed the reupholstering of dining room chairs and selected a coordinating fabric. Recommended new piece of furniture for foyer and purchased on my behalf. Measured and purchased window shades for playroom.
