The Davey Tree Expert Company

Sue stated that no one would be coming to my property due to having to clear trees for a wedding - I said my property was already scheduled and she just said they needed more people on this other job or something to that effect. Sue suggested the crew could come out on Saturday, as they would be "in the area" anyway. I said I needed the work completed urgently due to my neighbor blocking access in the immediate future with fresh tree planting. Sue said she would call back to update me. No call came. On Saturday it was rainy, but not snowing in our area until well after 3pm. No one came to remove the stump. I left a message in the general mailbox requesting a call back first thing Monday. On Monday, no one contacted me. By Monday afternoon I left a message in Frank Fogle's mailbox. On Tuesday, after researching and finding a competent and responsive stump grinding service: Sam's Services LLC 410-766-0715 who performs Stump Grinding & actually returns calls, comes out promptly, charges reasonable rates - I contact Davey by phone and notified them I was terminating the contract adding that I'm an Angie's list member and would be filing an unfavorable report. It was amazing that I received a call back - TWO calls in fact the next day from Kevin, the manager. In all this time, I had received a call back only once, upon request on initial contract; no calls to schedule, no calls to say they weren't showing up, and now that I stated I'd be writing a complaint, they call. There really is nothing further to say to them - they were totally unresponsive, completely unprofessional (Sue laughed when I said would Frank come out - she snickered saying Frank don't do that" I said, I meant his crew - it was insulting). I will not use Davey again and will be placing an unfavorable report on my community listserve.

Everything went well. Cleanup was wonderful. My neighbors even said how they great they were. Two guys did the job, and they did great. If I had any other projects like this, I would definitely call them.

They are a national chain and I like them very much. I think that their fertilizer is great. They inspect all the plants and they talk to me. Their crew is very educated in the field and I have all my questions answered. I have used them for at least seven years and I like them a lot. I am not sure about their price because I have not compared it with anyone else. They charge me a yearly fee of $800. They would give me an estimate for different services. I do not get the lawn treatment done anymore because it is not worth it. I get my trees inspected and fertilized three times a year. They also spray my trees for pests and bugs. I get random bills and I would pay them. I lost one of their bills and did not pay for it. They were extremely kind and nice about it. They have been very nice to work with.

Dealing with the company was a pleasure even though I did not pick them to do the services I needed. When I called the lady I spoke with was very nice and the gentleman that did my estimate accomodated my schedule by doing my estimate on his way home. He explained various options (things that I didn't think about) and provided a written estimate on the spot. I ended up not going with this company because the estimate that I was given was double the estimate of 2 other companies that I had priced. I am not sure why this was the case but obviously I went with the cheaper estimate.

They were very good. They came two different times. The price was reasonable. I explained that the hedge wasn't cut as low as I had hoped and they came back and redid it. It was done exactly as I wanted. We used them four or five years ago to take out some older hedges and they were good then. We had interviewed other companies the first time we used them and they did a good job. We would hire them again.

They cheerfully did exactly what I asked, on time. A second crew came with the stump grinder. I was satisfied with both the results and the comparative price.

An estimaor came out promptly after my initial call to look at the trees and give an estimate. The estimate was about $100 less than the other company in contention. The estimator walked the property with me and spent a good deal of time answering questions about the trees and other shrubs on the property. He was very professional and we plan to use Davey again when the need arises.

They did good, prompt work. They cleaned up after all the cutting. They did good work and I thought their prices were reasonable.

They are fabulous and are really good and on time. I highly recommend them and they did a superb job.

They are a large company operating out of several states. The prices are about average maybe a little bit lower than average. It is a very solid operation. They are extremely responsive as a company. They judge the appointments based on the crews needed and it will usually only take about a week for them to respond with a date. The crews who come out are all polite and classy. Everything about the way that they present themselves and the work that they do is very high standard.

I have used this company for years. The come at the time they say they will and always do a great job. Their prices are reasonable. They know how to cut a tree down. The clean up they do is very good.

Great experience! Frank, our on-site rep, was informative, friendly and the prices were very reasonable. While insurance covered much of our costs, the work was done in a timely manner (same day) and we really didn't have to deal with what could have been a HUGE mess.

I think this company is reliable and trustworthy. They have reasonable prices. They do everything from getting rid of yellow jacket nests to spreading wood chips to mowing and blowing. They are friendly and consistent workers you can get to know by name.

Left message Sunday. Came out on Monday with estimate, which I signed. Said would be done by Friday. Tuesday at noon a 3 man crew arrived. All done with clean up by 4 pm. Delighted they were so fast and complete.

My original estimate was very professional and thorough. They did a good job taking down a tree, and gave options to save us money. The only thing I didn't like was that they don't tell you exactly when they are coming out to do work. They performed a tree biopsy and I am still waiting on the results.

The company is very professional. They return calls and do the work as scheduled. They follow up to assure satisfaction. The price was comparable to other quotes received. I am continuing to use the company for tree work.

They're a good company and did the job, but I don't know about the price, maybe a little bit on the heavy side.

Provided estimate in a timely manner, cleaned up debris after work, gave us information on the condition of all the trees in the yard. My only complaint is that an estimate on a complicated tree removal was never provided.

Work was never completed. Crew never returned to finish grinding down the tree stump. Clean-up was not thorough. Branches and debris were left on flat roof of house and in gutters. While pruning the trees, falling branches broke both phone and cable lines. Dragging branches through fence gate scratched gate post. I expected higher quality work from such an expensive and established company.

The work was done on two separate occasions. 2 or 3 man team. Punctual, polite, hard-working, safety conscious. Davey does the work then bills you later, unlike some companies that require an up-front deposit.

They seemed very overpriced for specific pruning jobs (other companies gave estimates for half the rate). They pruned one large tree & I had to call them back to do the job that had been originally requested. They missed diseases on trees (2 of which subsequently died) & they never even told me that there was a problem despite the fact that they were inspecting the trees every 2 months.

I have also used The Davey Tree Expert Company for other tree work projects. I have been very satisfied with the services they have provided. In this case, they removed two trees that were overtaking the front of the house. The job was done in a timely and neat fashion.

Very professional, very good work and clean up.

THEY HAVE BEEN DOING WORK AT OUR HOME FOR 6 YEARS AND WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK. THEY ALWAYS SHOW UP WHEN THEY ARE DUE AND THE APPEARANCE OF OUR LAWN HAS CONTINUED TO LOOK BETTER EACH YEAR.

THE SERVICE PERFORMED WAS PAINLESS ON OUR PART - THEY CAME AND TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM WITHOUT US EVEN SEEING THEM. THEY ALSO DON'T SPRAY UNLESS THERE ARE ACTUALLY CATERPILLARS THERE. WE ARE DEFINITELY CONSIDERING USING THEM FOR OTHER LAWN AND GARDEN SERVICES.
