Description of Work: We've used Davey several times. The first we worked with Aaron when a tree came down. We wanted them to just cut it up in 18 inch logs so that I could chop it and use it for my fireplace as well as get exercise. Two of them came out and cut the tree up as requested and only took about an hour to do. the tree was a hundred feet tall. Very reasonable. Because of that good experience I opted to use the lawn service for my small yard. weed and feed and aeration. We worked with Frank on this job. Frank was great to work with. The week they were to do the aeration, we were scheduled to have our water supply line replaced. So Frank kept in touch with us as to the status of the lawn digging for the repair. He actually stopped to check on the status the day they were fixing the wter line. We made a date to have the aeration done and the lawn is looking much better. I fought for years trying to get the lawn looking better. Didn't realize my soil was that compacted. I intend to continue to work with Frank on my lawn and tree maintenance as time goes by and when I need a tree trimmed or taken out I won't hesitate to contact Aaron.

+ -1 moreWe have used Davey Tree in the past for removing and pruning trees and fertilizing all of our trees and scrubs. We have always been happy with the service they provided. The are very friendly and competent. They show-up on time and do a very good job including clean-up when finished. There price is a little higher than some of their competitors. We were recently given an estimate, but decided to go with another tree company we also use.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate for removing and pruning trees and grinding stumps.

I agreed to the proposed work and they were out within a week to do pruning, etc. The tree looks great and they even took away some branches that had fallen some week ago, no charge. I highly recommend them - couldn't be happier!
Description of Work: I contacted Davey Tree after reading reviews on Angie's List. I have a cedar tree that needed trimming and I was concerned about the tree's health in general.

We live in a row house in a nice part of the city, but they seemed to either thin that the job would be too small for them to consider or they were spooked by being asked to come to the city. Davey responded to my email inquiry promptly and were very professional.
Description of Work: Aaron Garvey came as scheduled and surveyed the tree work that needed to be done. He educated me about what he recommended and answered all my questions. He provided a written estimate and we have scheduled the work to be done.

+ -1 moreDavey's representative Aaron Garver was very prompt, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. He wrote a very reasonable estimate that also allowed us to complete the work over several weeks--while honoring their winter rate over 2 months. The work went very well and the crew was extremely professional. They showed up on time on went straight to work. We had a large tree the was dead when we purchased our new home and it was in a area that was difficult to reach with a cherry picker, but the crew took care to chop down the tree with care and didn't cause any damage. The same was true for on the subsequent visits to grind our stump and prune out other large tree. They even went beyond and helped us to mount a tree swing that reaches up about 20-25 ft. In addition, they were more than happy to cut the tree remains into small logs and discs for our personal use. Overall, they were extremely easy and pleasant to deal with and I will gladly call them again when I need any future tree maintenance.
Description of Work: Note: the following was completed in 3 separate engagements. Removed large but dead oak tree, ground the stump, removed wild "sucker" tree, pruned 2 large oak trees, pruned a pear tree, cut fire and surplus wood "cookies", and mounted a tree swing.

As the cut branches fell to the ground , the person on the ground took the branches and ran them through a shredder to grind up the branches. It took about 15 minutes. To take down this tree. + -1 moreWorkers came so fast I had no t time to prepare the area where they need to setup. No problem. They moved what was in the way , climbed the tree, set the lines so the limbs wouldn't fall when cut and did the job. Meanwhile the ground workers carried the limbs to the truck on the street and had the brush etc. shredded and the swept the street of fallen debris. I was very pleased.
Description of Work: Removed heavy, split tree limb overhanging electric wires and neighbors fence. Removed 2nd limb also split that I had not seen.

The disease management guy did not call ahead, but I was home to give the go-ahead. The tree work was delayed and postponed; it would have been nice if they had notified me earlier in the day. We will see how it goes for future appointments.

+ -1 moreFrom the start, Davey was good. The sales guy was out to see it quickly. He was always responsive to emails and questions. He did a good job coordinating with me and BGE. The crew was good. We had a tricky job because of space and power line issues. But they handled it well and got the job done efficiently. The only problem was that they let one branch swing a little loosely and injure another tree. Otherwise they were great.
Description of Work: Davey took down a very large walnut tree in our back yard.

+ -1 moreIt is a joy watching experts at work. Geof and his crew (total 3) surveyed the work to be done using a copy of the detailed agreement. They went to work thining, pruning and removing deadwood from a number of trees. They were friendly, efficient, and very concientious .They thoroughly cleaned the area of all debris and left it in bettter condition then when they arrived. I would not hesitite tio hire this Davey crew again for any needed tree work.
Description of Work: Seven very large trees (60 to 90 feet) were pruned, deadwood removed, and the crowns opened.. Because of the amount of work, thjis was an all-day job for the crew of three.

They routinely diagnose any concerns posed with the trees; and they provide monthly fertilizer and treatment for the lawn and shrubs. They have also been very timely when responding to storm damage.

+ -1 moreI called Davey and one other tree service for a recommendation regarding a very large Norway spruce that was slightly leaning after the hurricane in 2011. I also needed to have a silver maple trimmed as a result of loosing branches during the same storm. Frank Fogle from Davey looked at both trees on 9/12/11 and recommended that the spruce be taken down because it was in danger of falling over. He was very professional and thorough in his examination of both trees. His estimate was fair-$1915.00 for the removal of the spruce and trimming the maple. The estimate I received from the other company was so high it was laughable. On 11/28/11 Davey came out to perform the work on both trees. They were very efficient and cleaned up afterwards. A pot was broken on the deck in the process and they were forthright about letting us know that they would pay to replace it. I would definitely hire Davey for tree trimming and removal in the future.
