I hired Rick because I had used him once before to rebuild the steps down to my basement. He did a superb job on that project, so I contacted him for the closet project. This job not only required the requisite skills, but someone knowledgeable with regard to moisture problems, and what to do about them. We had a lengthy discussion about the problem, and considered a few options. He sent me a detailed proposal, spelling out all of the necessary steps, as described above. We settled on a start date, and he arrived as expected. Rick and his helper completed each step in a timely way, allowing plenty of time to let the coats of applied products dry thoroughly-- a very important consideration. The overall project took parts of 4 days, not consecutive because of the weekend and drying time. When the final coat of paint was dry, they did a thorough clean-up job, and replaced the closet brackets & rods. This whole project was a very difficult job, and the wall looks wonderful now. It was a costly project (just short of $1000), but it was time consuming and absolutely had to be done properly. I am so very pleased that Rick was available to do it! I would definitely hire Rick again, if I have a project that requires his skills and expertise! He is the consummate professional!
Description of Work: Interior wall repair and painting: Repaired the moisture-damaged (cracks, peeling, crumbling plaster) back wall of my main clothes closet. (This damage must have happened when I was away during the harsh winter of 2014 -- January & February.) Rick and his helper scraped off the entire wall, down to the original plaster (circa 1880?), then scrubbed the wall with TSP, rinsed it, and let it dry. They then skimmed the wall twice with joint compound, let it dry thoroughly, and gently sanded it. They primed the wall with Kilz, then applied 2 coats of latex wall paint. When finished, they cleaned up thoroughly, and reassembled rods, etc,. in the closet.
