I am incredibly impressed with Park Heights Roofing. From the first call to the last step, they were extremely professional, attentive, responsive, and knowledgeable. They kept me informed at each stage of the process, from the proposal to the material delivery to the work day. I relied on Andrew to help me pick out the best shingle for my house, and his choice was stellar. And I was pleased with the care they took to explain the estimate to me and point out the 'unknowns'. (For example, the wood under a slate roof may not be smooth enough for a shingle roof, so there was a chance they'd have to replace the wood.) They are quick workers, and they were careful and kept the work area clean. Hiring contractors can be tough, but I was so satisfied that I will immediately and gladly call Park Heights Roofing again for any future roofing needs.
Description of Work: Park Heights roofing removed the old slate from my front roof and replaced it with beautiful shingles. They also removed and replaced all of the gutters and downspouts.

The job was completed professionally and cleanly. I called once regarding a loose roof shingle and Park Heights Roofing responded in a timely fashion and secured the shingle. The staff are very knowledgeable and are easy to reach. Park Heights Roofing demonstrated that they use quality materials and provide professional installation.

The callback from the company was prompt. The contractor came promptly for the appointment to diagnose the problem and give an estimate for its repair. The contract terms was emailed quickly after that visit. What we liked was that the contractor honed in on what he thought was the most likely reason for the leak, namely, the flashing, and didn't try to sell us on doing more (as other contractors had). The price for that work was reasonable (approximately $600). But after the next heavy rain we had another major flood. So we called the company back, and contractor said that the asphalt coating needed to be re-coated. The price for that job seemed too high (approx. another $600) for what seems a simple job, and we thought he might offer a discount because of the heavy flooding we had again after the first work. No one was home when the asphalt work was done. When we came home, we were surprised to see that the material had been applied in swirls (like the icing on a cupcake). Maybe this is now standard practice, but we wish we'd been asked whether we wanted this instead of a flat application--especially because our house is a duplex. The attached house is the mirror design of ours, so now the bay window on the front of our house and the bay window on our neighbor's house do not match in appearance. The paragraph above was written before I revised my rating to "A" because of what happened next: Admittedly I never contacted the contractor to tell him that I was dissatisfied, believing that there was nothing that could be done without still another re-coating of asphalt that would be too thick and so draw even more attention to the difference between our bay window and the neighbor's. (Nor had I questioned the price for the 1st re-coating; had I done so, perhaps it could have been negotiated and the grade that I originally gave to price would have been "A.") So the contractor didn't know that I was dissatisfied until he read my Angie's List review. As soon as he did, he called me to ask whether he could come to see what could be done to make me completely satisfied with the job. When he came, he suggested a solution that never would have occurred to me that does not entail another coat of asphalt. It will make the bay window very attractive and more in keeping with my neighbor's. And at no cost. I recommend Park Heights Roofing without hesitation (and in fact I had already done so before the meeting described in the sentence above). The customer service is outstanding--and the roof hasn't leaked since it was repaired over 7 months ago--and there have been many torrential rains since then.

We needed a new shingled roof on the circa 1920 original house and rubber sheeting roofing on the flatter, newer addition in the rear (as well as the arched front porch roof). Park Heights was thorough in explaining their proposal and responsive to our questions, concerns, and requests. The work was done on schedule and very professionally, and we were very pleased with some extra cosmetic touches to our old flashing. Their cleanup of our front yard was very conscientious; they even replaced our old DIY gutter guards with much more care that was expected. These guys work very hard to do a great job. Contact with this company was uniformally exceptional, especially with foremen Andrew and Abe. We felt at every turn that we were dealing with a high standard of quality and integrity, and we are very pleased with the final product. I would unreservedly recommend Park Heights Roofing to anyone needing roofing work.

Park Heights Roofing provided a detailed estimate and their price was very competitive. They were very flexible and accomodated our schedule. They did the job on time and did not leave a mess. The repaired roof looks great and there are no leaks. They followed up to discuss maintenance and offer free inspections whenever there is a concern or on a routine schedule.

They were extremely responsive, professional, and provided excellent work. There was some damage caused to our kitchen vent during the roof instillation (our kitchen vent is very unusual, and the roofers didn't realize that it needed a specialized system). Park Heights Roofing worked with me to resolve the problem, and I am very pleased with the end results. I would highly recommend them to a friend.

Park Heights Roofing did replacement of some siding this time. They were able to closely match the color of the replacement siding to what was already on the house. Park Heights Roofing had replaced my roof, gutters and downspouts about three years ago and they did a great job. I found the owner to be very honest. He only replaced several sheets of wood. For anyone who has replaced a roof or has gotten estimates, you know this is where you can be ripped-off. The crew arrived on time on the date scheduled. They were very professional and thoughtful. They covered my shrubs and flowers and did a great job in cleaning up all the debris including the nails. I have recommended Park Heights Roofing to friends and they have been very satisfied with the jobs. The owner listened to what my roof needs were instead of telling me what I needed. We spoke about the different materials which were available and with his guidance, I was able to make the right choice for my home. I have and continue to highly recommend Park Heights Roofing.

It was a great experience from start to finish. Andrew took the time to explain everything in detail. His work crew was highly skilled and he was there personally for a good portion of the time working and overseeing the work. I really believe that he cared that the job was done right and that the roof will perform well and be lasting. The job took a little longer than he had anticipated due to the previous roofer doing some things wrong. He corrected the problems and there was no attempt to get additional money out of me. He replaced only what needed to be replaced. The roof has since been tested by torrential downpours and has been perfect. The cost was slightly less than the quote I received from another highly rated roofer in the area. A new roof is a big expense my feeling is I don't want to save a little money up front and pay for it down the road with a poorly done roof that fails in a shorter amount of time. Watching the skill of the workers and the attention to detail of the roofer gave me confidence that I was getting a roof put on by highly skilled professionals who were going to do it right.

We have a low-slope roof on a ranch style home. We needed to replace the existing roof and obtained several quotes. Park Heights Roofing was very competitively priced and had experience with low-slope roof installation. They did a thorough walk through of what work would be done, consulted with us on options for roof material color and skylight options. Once we signed the bid, the work was scheduled within 10 days and was completed on schedule and on cost. As with any full roof replacement (necessitated due to a significant but hard to trace leak) there is always going to be the possibility of additional cost on the day of the job as they get a good look at the underlying structure and materials. Park Heights estimate of what the range of that added cost would likely be ($2000) was accurate. Indeed, several cross beams had rotted and had to be reinforced and/or replaced with new wood beams. Park Heights kept us in the loop at all key phases and showed me exactly where the underlying problems were. The crew did a complete clean up when the job was done (I only found one or two nails and a couple of small strips of siding material left - and those were in hard to see spots so understandable how they might have been missed), The new roof is solid, looks great and we have not had any problems with it to date (and there have been several very heavy rains in the interim). The new skylights are much nicer than our old plastic bubbles. Overall, we are very satisfied with the quality of the work done by Park Heights Roofing. Our leak issue is no more and we feel safer now that the rotted beams were found and fixed as part of the job (our previous roofing company that put on the prior roof (which only lasted 8 years) should have seen that as well and either missed it or ignored it). I would recommend Park Heights Roofing to anyone in their service area.

7/28/15 If you are considering using Park Heights Roofing you owe it to yourself to read this in its entirety. My experience with Park Heights Roofing has been the worst experience I have ever had dealing with any business. I used Angie?s List to find a reputable company to replace my 70 plus years old slate roof. Park Heights Roofing (PHR) had rave reviews and no negatives. Andrew was very good at selling the job although some things he said changed after the job was done. I would also discover a possible reason for the no negative reviews. The crew that showed appeared to have all the earmarks of being a hired crew. The vehicles they drove were older, had no markings, no PHR hats, no PHR t shirts, although Andrews and Israel drive new trucks with logos and lettering. The crew worked hard but as I would find out had possessed no roofing SKILLS. This is evident by all the obvious flaws that I noticed as the days went on and I was done with a major problem that appeared on the day of installation. I will point these out latter. The major problem that took all my attention keeping me from noticing the poor installation and damage that was done. One of the things Andrew was selling as a great option that I should take advantage of was the $630 upgrade. This included Lifetime warranty shingles and 30lb. felt paper instead of 15lb. felt. I wanted the upgrade. I was going to ask about the 30lb. felt paper anyway due to my neighbor being advised to use that weight when they had their roof done a couple of years ago and some research I did. Andrew agreed with use of the heavier paper and saying it was much better than the lighter 15lb. felt paper. I stopped by the house on the day the roof was being installed and noticed a opened roll of 15lb. felt paper. They were almost done with the job at this time. Only a small back porch roof needed to be finished. I than tried to find any evidence of 30lb. paper and could not. I asked Andrew about this and he told me that they sometimes have rolls of 15lb. paper on the delivery truck for other jobs and that roll was unloaded by mistake. I said there are no signs of 30lb. rolls and they had been using the 15lb. roll. He assured me they had used 30lb. paper and picked up the 15lb roll and put it in his truck. It appears they finally realized they had to own up to the 15lb. paper being used but Andrew now was trying to convince me there was no difference between the two weights. They told me it was a mistake by their supplier. Maybe it was but why wasn?t someone checking the delivery? It took about a week and I did reluctantly settle this matter with Israel and this is no longer an issue to be dealt with. But there is more. Of course had I not noticed the mistake I would never know about this. Now I can?t help but wonder if I received the upgraded shingle and what other shoddy work I may not be able to see. I felt I needed to include this in my review so Angie?s List members have a complete account. A possible explanation for no negative reviews may be due to part of the negotiations I experienced trying to settle the inferior paper matter. Israel requested that I not leave a negative review as part of the settlement. I could decide to leave no review if I didn?t want to leave a positive review but just one negative review would mean they lose some sort of rating or award. During Andrew?s initial visit and after I decided to let PHR replace my roof I asked Andrew if I needed to have Gutter Helmet (GH) come out to remove their system before PHR could proceed with the roof replacement. He assured me that PHR had experience with the GH system and there was no need to call in GH. Well, PHR all but destroyed my GH. End caps are mangled, birds are now nesting in my gutters, alignment is off, nails were used to secure the GH to the roof ect. Andrew did come out to attempt to repair the end caps on the back porch. At this time his story changed and told me they do not have much experience with GH. Why would they than touch the GH? Why would I let them? Why wouldn?t they want to avoid this problem that they have created by not having GH remove their system. The GH people gave me a very plausible reason. With this incorrect GH installation the GH will not perform as claimed and my warranty is voided. The flashing on my chimney is poorly installed. There are at least two exposed nails and open seams in the brick. The flashing on the back porch roof to the brick wall had large gaps on each end which Andrew tried to convince me were fine. PHR eventually ?repaired? this but when moving the flashing back tight against the brick wall left a nail hole in my brand new shingle with a little dab of black tar. PHR, when replacing the GH, nailed it to the roof. No nails are supposed to be used and GH will not remove these nails. They suggested I have PHR come out and remove the GH leave it on the ground for GH to inspect and repair what they can and replace what they can not. I would also expect all the brand new shingles with extra unneeded nails be replaced. The gutter on the back porch is bent down and out of position and PHR tried to explain this away as well but I have pictures of it being bent away from the roof as their installers were replacing some boards. This is not the only gutter out of alignment. How does an installer not see this? In fact I have pictures to back up all my claims of sub, sub par workmanship and my trampled over Hastas. One conversation I had with Israel during our negotiations to correct the inferior paper problem we agreed that it?s what a company does when mistakes are made that is a sign of a great company. Is PHR a great company to deal with?? I hope this review helps you decide. That?s the purpose of Angie?s List. I sent an Email to Israel on Thursday 7/23/15 about what needs to be done with the GH and two more after that I have not received any replies. With limited funds I now have to figure out how to repair these problems and have gutter helmet reinstalled. I now have less confidence in my new roof than I did in my 70 plus years slate roof. I would like to address PHR's reponse It states " we thought this was settled a week ago". Obviously you were mistaken and have made no effort to contact me. Today is 8/11/15. You also failed to respond to three emails I sent you during the week before I posted my review. "Customer stated that he would not post a negative review". This validates my statement that not leaving a negative review was discussed during our negotiations concerning the inferior 15lb. felt paper being used. Unless you are to believe that for some reasons, with the problems PHR admits we were having, I just agreed that I would not leave a negative review. The $1000 credit being for damages he claims were per-existing to the Gutter Helmet is a complete false hood. The credit along with a 10 year warranty which I requested be added was for the inferior felt paper. Which, although Israel was very careful about not using email I do have an email timeline that proves this was not for the Gutter Helmet. Also per-existing damage he claims was there has nothing to do with the GH being reinstalled so badly in voids my warranty. "We have been to the customers home 5 times in the past 10 days". Did I reach the limit? Nothing was repaired. I have already contracted with another company to redo the chimney flashing with the exposed nails and more for $225.00. The GH repair or replace and other problems that need correcting I can not afford. The amount of return visits are meaningless when nothing is accomplished. One visit to repair the back porch gutter, Gutter Helmet and flashing you had to return to repair the flashing. Which was not done correctly and the GH and the gutter were not repaired. Oh, I must comment on the dismissive "sorry" concerning my Hastos. I mentioned the Hastos as an example of the unprofessional way PHR left my property. I never asked for any compensation concerning the Hastos. They will grow back just fine next year, The fact that leaving a negative review even came up in our dealings now makes all his reviews suspect.to me. Were the positive reviews discussed to get them right? Were other negative reviews negotiated away? I don't know. I leave this review to help other members. This is what this site is all about and what I believe is the most important aspect of this site. keep in mind that this is my very unpleasant experience with PHR. If you decide to use PHR hopefully your experience will be better. It would have to be. Now I am left to deal with weighing all options left to me.

Response from Park Heights Roofing
There is much confusion over this review as we thought this was settled as of a week ago, and this customer had stated that he would not post a negative review. Although we are sorry that we caused damage to his Hostas, we do take the utmost care in protecting shrubbery and landscaping. We also realized that the installation of his roof was not up to his expectation that we put forth effort in resolving all his issues. Although we were convinced that the gutter guards were previously damaged by tree limbs and previous contractors, we still agreed to give him a generous $1,000 customer satisfaction credit to resolve this. We even upgraded his warranty upon his request after another set of complaints and demands were met and resolved. We have been to this customer's home at least 5 times in the past 10 days and nothing we have done to help seems to satisfy him. As our other reviews show we take a lot of pride in providing the best quality product and the best service for our customers beyond the industry standard. We appreciate the feedback which will continue to enable us to serve our customers exceedingly well.

. We sought an estimate from Park Heights Roofing because another contractor, with whom we have worked many times, did not appear to have time to do the job. However, this contractor was finally able to provide the service within our timeframe. His pricing was slightly lower than Park Heights but that was not the determining factor. If he had remained unavailable, we would have placed the work with Park Heights. We have friends whose assessment we trust who have used Park Heights and gave them extremely high marks. In other instances, where we have exercised our right to select contractors of our choice, we have encountered hostility from some vendors. Park Heights exhibited absolutely none of that kind of behavior. They were professional, polite and patient through the entire process. These are relatively rare qualities; hence we would recommend them without hesitation or reservation.

First of all I shopped around for quotes before I hired anyone, price was right on target. From the first call I placed with this company I felt they understood my concerns and I was a priority. The crew was courteous and friendly yet most important the cleanup was incredible. One wouldn't be able to tell all the work that went on once they were done.I now sleep better at night knowing my roof and family are safe .... Thanks guys - Great work.
Description of Work: With the winter coming up and repairs needed on my roof Elgy and crew inspected my roof and fixed all the issues. They focused on the biggest roof issues and didn't try to upsell me on anything but what was necessary. important to me was the looks and they made the house look all the more better.

The team arrived for the estimate, evaluated the roof and determined the exact issue with the flashing and gutter/downspout. They did not oversell me on additional services and did a great job of explaining what was wrong and how to fix it. Their office followed up to schedule an appt based on my timeframe. They came to do the work on the day requested, performed all the repairs, took pictures of the before, during and after and left the site cleaner than they found it!!! I would recommend Park Heights Roofing to everyone in the area. They are extremely professional, knowledgeable and reasonable in their pricing.
Description of Work: Repair rotted portion of roof, repair flashing and replace section of gutter and add additional downspout.

I would recommend them highly. They were very good. I used them a couple of times and I was happy both times. I would absolutely use them again. They were very responsive and their price was very good. They were very professional and I didn't have any concerns with their employees being criminals.
Description of Work: I used them in April and then again in June for roofing.
