Spoke to the owner. MY experience with him was not good. He was rude, inpatient and unprofessional. I challenged him regarding paying additional fees and he decides he did not want to deal with it, and it was easier for the owner to hang up on me. I have a right as a consumer to question any and everything. This is a franchise, and this company is individually owned. I have a large social media presence and will share MY experience!
Description of Work: Plumbing.. never got that far as far as hiring b/c the owner decided to hang up on me.. just plain rude and unprofessional.

On October 25, 2022, I submitted a request through Angi to have estimates for a small leak I had under my sink. Someone from Mr. Rooter gave me a call to discuss what the problem was. I expressly asked how much the estimate was going to be, which they replied that it was free. They then scheduled me for later in the evening. The technician arrived within the window, and was courteous enough. He asked what the problem was, looked under the sink, gave a piece under the sink a quick tighten with his hand and then proceeded to tell me that that was $89. I am concerned and confused because I was not certain how it went from a zero cost estimate, to him fixing the problem without my approval and then charging me for it. When I called the company (because I thought I was charged extra for an after hours fee even though I didn't ask that they come out right away and was instead offered the time window), I was rudely told that I basically shouldn't complain about it because it was only $89 to fix the issue when they should've charged me over $200, and that they needed to get paid to cover expenses like gas, etc. The individual who I spoke with, possibly the manager or the owner, was incredibly rude and when I asked him if he was this rude to all of his customers who had concerns, hung up on me. I would have had no issue with paying for work that was done, if the cost was covered upfront and "work" wasn't done without my permission, and then I was billed for it, but that is not what happened. The technician called this a dispatch fee, but when I asked if there was a cost for an estimate, it should've been explained that while there was no cost for an estimate, there were going to be other costs just to come out and diagnose the problem. My heat pump went out last year. I had plenty of companies come out and give me estimates and none of them charged a fee. This company needs to be a lot more transparent in what they charge, especially before doing the work, and give you the chance to say no or that you would like to get another estimate or a second opinion.

We weren't really with happy with it. Disappointing and we ended up spending another $800 to repair the wall . The whole thing was just a bad experience, It was not the guy's fault, the repair requires us to seek out to rebuild some of the drywall. He did good work but were just disappointed with the outcome. He messed up the walls and he didn't clean up much.

Over the last few weeks, my toilets would bubble when water was running. I called Mr Rooter and they sent Joe. By the time Joe came, sewerage was coming up through my basement shower and toilet. It was really disgusting, but Joe was a true professional. He snaked the pipes and cleared the blockaged. He knew exactly what to do and it all worked out. I will definitely use Mr. Rooter again if I needed it. Thanks Joe!

very quick to schedule appointment, arrived within hours of placing request on Angie's List. Professional, friendly and efficient technicians. Work was done in under an hour and problem solved. However, I thought the bill was very steep (even after I asked for and received advertised discount). We provided the new faucet so all we were paying for was labor.

If you are desperate to have a plumbing emergency fixed please DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY. We called this company hoping they could come out quickly to inspect a clogged bathroom drain on (8/19/20). The technician never even told us his name. He immediately diagnosed the problem as a clogged sewer line without even inspecting our toilet or pipes. He told us it would be $579 to snake our line and that he would have no problem clearing the line, again without even visually evaluating the plumbing. The technician proceeded to set up all his equipment in my residence without the use of protective gear or tarps, he even joked to my husband "how dirty and covered in sewaged" the equipment was. My 5 year old son had also had a surgical procedure done the same day so we were obviously concerned about the germs and bacteria being brought into our home and sat on the floor without a tarp or covering, the technician said they follow a rigorous clean up procedure once they are finished. After sending the snake down 45ft the technician told us out main line was broken outside the house and that he had to "call his manager". We later found out from another professional plumber that 45ft wouldn't have even been enough snake to reach the outside line. The technician came back in and advised us that his Manager could send another crew to our house the next day to run a camera and evaluate our broken line from another $400. I advised the technician that we weren't comfortable with that considering that we were not having any other signs of a broke pipe. I also asked for the technicians supervisor's phone number so we could speak to him about the price to partially snake our line since the technician guarunteed he would be able to unclog it and did not. The technician told us he would give us the number once he packed up. He proceeded to pack up his gear, performed no cleaning, left our bathroom and hallway completely covered in sewage. He put our toilet back on but left a piece of the toilet in our bathtub, completely foregoing to install it under the toilet. The technician advised us that he would be back with his supervisors phone number. He NEVER RETURNED, got in his truck and left. No formal bill was given to us, no statement of what services were performed. We don't even know his name. I have photo evidence of all the damages including damaged to our floor and woodwork. This was the WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever encountered with a "professional" company. I felt completely taken a advantage of, it felt as if the technician knew we were desperate with a sick child and he saw a opportunity to exploit the situation. We are assuming the company will try to bill us for this botched experience. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If anyone is interested in seeing the photos please email me at kchisholm87@gmail.com.

After getting horrible service just to get an estimate from several of the "big guys" doing hot water heater replacement in Baltimore I stumbled upon "Mr. Rooter" on Angie's List and asked for a bid. I spoke with Franz literally five minutes after making the initial query. He was receptive to my upgrading from his suggested water heater and gave me all inclusive price on the phone. Several other companies had given me bids on the phone, but beware, when pressed they'll tell you that anything that needs to be included to make code isn't included, like an expansion tank or a floor pan. Gotcha!!! In speaking with Franz he assured me that everything that would be needed to get me code compliant was included in the price and even told me where to find discount coupons to lower the cost. We scheduled the install for Friday 11/23 between 10 and 12. At 10:30 I received a text msg stating that Robbie Whitley would be my installer and that he was on the way. At 11:00 Robbie arrived and before starting he went over the installation with me. He was friendly, courteous, thorough in his detailing the installation and totally professional. Going in I knew that rust and sediment in the tank would be an issue and he was extremely careful to keep the draining process as clean as possible. When Robbie completed the installation you'd never know he'd been there. On completion he explained the new pilot monitoring system, how to adjust the water temperature and the warranty and he was on his way. I would highly recommend Robbie and the folks at Mr Rooter. They were professional, their estimate was honest, accurate and though not the lowest, the ONLY one who gave an estimate on the phone that guaranteed it was all inclusive and this is important. Thank you Mr Rooter!!!!

Work was poorly performed and customer service was absolutely lacking. Technician had to return to repair faulty work. During a subsequent call to the company to find out just what "work" was performed on that day, I was called an "IDIOT" by a gentleman who identified himself as the SERVICE MANAGER, who then proceeded to hang up the phone on me. As unprofessional as it can get.

Main drain line was backed up on a Sunday close to Christmas - with limited options we called Mr Rooter for emergency service. The fee to clear the drain was $625, which was completed within an hour. They did not clean up after completing the work, however were able to get flow restored back to the drain. My concern is the company then provided me with guidance that my main sewage line needed to be replaced and was not able to sufficiently answer questions during a "free" video inspection of the line. The cost to replace was quoted at over $13k and I never received a follow up email with an actual bid for the job. I had two other licensed plumbers come to look at the line, both of which who did not feel there was any reason to replace. I felt the company was not being honest with their assessment and would not recommend them. They also attempted to discourage getting a second opinion.

Service provider arrived on time. And he was very professional. That's it for the positives. The tapping persists, and I have to repair the wall and ceiling. And call another plumber. Without any help from Angie's List. So basically a waste of time and money.
Description of Work: Service desired was to determine if there was a leak in the plumbing of one of upstairs bathrooms. Always hear tapping long after faucets in sink or tub have been shut off. Plumber first opened the faucet and checked for leaks in exposed pipes. Then he cut a small section in the ceiling of the mudroom (below the BR) and looked for dampness. Next he cut a piece from the wall to check for dampness along the main waste pipe. Finding nothing, he called his boss for hints. Suggestion was to release pressure at the water heater expansion tank. Done. No change. Also took a look at the pressure valve on the water line. Tried to sell me a new one. Overall the plumber did about 20 minutes of work and accomplished nothing.

They came to my property to analyze the issues. They charged me $219 for just and estimate and over $1000 in total. The owner told me they were going to make this right, but they have not taken responsibility.

The technician from Mr. Rooter, Keith by name, very patiently explained to me my options. The problem for which Mr. Rooter was called was the problem identified by an Advanced Drain Cleaning representative sent by American Home Shield. This problem was a clogged vent line to the 2nd floor kitchen sink and washer. In the end, this was an erroneous diagnosis. The Advanced Drain Cleaning representative did not bother to try and diagnosis in detail the drainage problem, but just said it was a vent problem which was not covered by my American Home Shield warranty and left. Keith after explaining my options, proceeded to move the packages from the storage room (the location of the washer/dryer and the pipes leading to the vent line from from the sink) to get access to the vent pipe. He then proceeded to clean the vent pipe for 35 feet, much further than I would have expected. He then proceeded to clean the pipes leading from the washer and sink to the vent line. It was then that he discovered that the problem was in the pipes leading from the sink to the vent pipe, not the vent line itself - a problem which should have been diagnosed by Advanced Drain Cleaning. Keith went above and beyond the problem originally diagnosed. If he hadn't he could have left after cleaning the vent pipe and the problem would still have been there. I can not thank Keith enough for he diligence and expertise. I gave Keith a generous tip because of this.
Description of Work: The provider cleaned the vent line to the 2nd floor washer and kitchen sink. This had been identified by an American Home Shield plumber as the problem for the sink and washer backing up. The provider then proceeded to clean the drain lines from the washer and sink. He identified the real problem was stoppage in the drain pipes from the kitchen sink to the vent.

I have had Mr Rooter out in the past for a number of repairs and every time once they leave I feel like I've been robbed. While I'd love to get into the 400 dollars I once paid to replace a filter I later bought for $15 and replaced the housing myself, it wouldn't be fair to the event I'm reporting about now. They were very punctual, infact calling me and letting me know they had someone in the area an hour before our appointment and if I could meet them now. In fact, they had no problem waiting on me which was very nice. I asked them to give me the available options on a outside spicket (galvanized to brass) that broke off in the winter. The inside shutoff (copper to galvanized) simply wouldn't shut off completely, leaving a slow drip. The plumber, while very professional seemed interested in the most inconvenient options..."Well...I'll have to rip out all of this drywall in your bathroom, rerun the pipe to here...pop it out over here after I cap this". To which I suggested wouldn't it be easier to simply cap the problem then come off the existing pipe in the kitchen and drill straight out the wall from under the sink? He agreed, we discussed it and he went outside to quote me a price. I was shocked when the quote was $1100 with a discount!!! He explained that the material cost was over 300 dollars which seems pretty high for less than three feet of pipe, solder, and a spicket. We're talking a cap, solder, drill, and attach a spicket. $1100. My better judgement said to wait but after he left I called him and asked "what if we just try to get this elbow off, and put another on"? To which he replied that the risk of breaking the pipe and causing a greater problem would exist, he wouldn't reccomend it and we should go with what he suggested...So I again described it thinking I could sway him. By now he must be halfway to another customer so...with a sigh, I let him know that after I thought about it I would call back. Well, when I went back in I realized he was sitting in his truck still outside. He didn't even come to take a look. Which is really too bad because I fixed it this evening by removing the elbow with one quick turn and for $15 dollars the less than ideal situation was fixed. I'm not sure how a pipe that was already leaking could have gotten any worse.
Description of Work: Mr Rooter quoted me over $1000 dollars to cap a pipe, run a new connection off an existing pipe, drill a hole through the wall and connect a spicket outside.
