Michael & Sons Service Inc

After taking out the old fan ourselves and determining we could not find a replacement, we called Michael & Sons. The office told us they would have some one out the same day. They arrived mid afternoon and quickly diagnosed what needed to be done. Because of the age of the old fan everything needed to be replaced. We were told that we needed a new fan, a new thermostat and recommended installing a switch to turn power off at the source to allow work to be done. After we approved the estimate, they set to work replacing the entire system. It was all done in about an hour. As my husband looked over the new set up (new fan, switch and thermostat) I paid for the work. They even applied 10% off coupon to the bill. Very nice workers, good response from the office - I would definitely use them again.

They were scheduled to come out Friday, March 27th but no one showed up or even called. I called them and the appointment was rescheduled for the 30th, between noon and 3pm, but no one showed up on that date either. Someone did call me after 4pm that day asking if anyone had come out but no one did.

Dave was professional and thorough- we were very impressed.

They ended up charging me around $700 and finding all sorts of repairs that were unnecessary. They were trying to get me to replace the breaker box which did not need to be done. I would not use them again. Updated** They refunded some of my money. They overcharged me the last time. They also gave me a 200.00 in credit.

It went extremely and was very timely. David L. Was on budget and very thorough . The work was superb.

We loved them and the service was great. Very professional. They gave us the best warranty. Before they came in they put a piece of carpet down and booties to walk in. In the basement they put cloth own before working so they did not get anything dirty or damaged.

After they gave us the estimate we had called them back to come do the work. They said they would have to come and do some measuring first. We told them never mind since they had gave us an estimate already and we did not use them.

Company was able to unclog pipe under kitchen sink before Thanksgiving. Previously I called BGE Home to unclog sink, but they were unsuccessful in their attempt to perform the service and asked to schedule another visit after Thanksgiving.

Our electrician was Paul Duffy. He was quick, professional and clean. While working in the demo area he recommended a few other items that would make the demo easier - and they did. Overall, we like working with Michael & Sons and have not had a negative experience. Their prices are slightly above market, but you receive quality service from professional technicians and a consistent experience. We've had electrical and plumbing work done over the last several months (we've also worked with David Likus for electrical work - another great technician).

Beautifully! Sia Vahedi set the stage for the installation 1 week prior. Juan and his assistant were very accommodating, professional, neat and punctual. I am very pleased with their work!

Our furnace wasn't working and a technician named Todd came to the house and diagnosed and fixed the problem. He was extremely courteous and efficient and even took the time to look at our gas fireplace, which was not functioning. Because he was so great, we requested that he be the one to come back and fix the fireplace, which he did. Everyone I've dealt with at this company, from the people on the phone, to thetechnicians, has been wonderful.

They have good financial options, 10 years warranty and they were prompt.

The entire process went very well. The receptionists I spoke with to set up the appointment for the work to be done were professional and easy to speak with. Ted called ahead to notify us he was on the way. He explained what could be done and also drew a picture to make it more clear to me. As a free service, Michael and Son will check plumbing in the home. There was no pressure to get the recommended work done. We opted to have Ted do the extra work of installation of shut off valve on the DW pipe and replacement of sink basket and pipes along with the original work of installation of a hose bib on the front of the house. He worked consistently, quietly, and with dedication. He clearly loves his job and knows his job. The area of the kitchen he worked in was protected with a drop cloth. He was careful while he worked and disposed of dirty pipes or parts without incident. The area was clean and ready for us to return items to cabinets. Ted wrote up the bill with adequate explanations and sent the receipt electronically. It was a pleasure to have Ted in our home and we are happy with the work he did. As a bonus, no plants were trampled on during the installation of the hose bib which was by necessity in a garden bed.

One of our electrical outlets went bad which impacted several functions in our home, including our ability to access our computer and TV. We wanted someone to come out ASAP and address the problem. I called and was promptly called back by someone who obviously was not local. She was very polite and scheduled the appointment for the same day. Yea! The man that came out was very pleasant, professional and was a good representative of the company. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem by replacing the outlet. He then talked me into a whole house surge protector which he had on hand and installed in a manner of minutes. This, of course, upped the bill substantially. I gave Michael and Sons an A rating because they did the work I contracted for well; but I dislike the upsell. I know the company must put pressure on their contractors to do this and I should have be aware. So I take part of the blame and hope to do better next time resisting the attempt. I also got to thinking later when I happened to see another electrical company servicing a neighbor down the street...next time I will also try to give the business to a strictly local company.

I was initially satisfied with Michael & Son's service. They came to my rental property and performed an inspection of my HVAC unit in preparation for the winter season. The cost was $59. Immediately after the service, I received an email from the company explaining what they did and what problems they diagnosed. They told me that the heating elements were getting power but were not turning on, and were therefore damaged. The price to special order and install a new heating element...$865. Because I have a home warranty, I called and placed a claim with my warranty company and prepared to pay my $100 deductible. The company assigned to my claim- Priceless Investments of Temple Hills, MD- arrived on time and were very responsive. Shortly after they arrived, the technician called me and said that the heating elements were working fine but that one of them had snapped off. He just reconnected it and viola, problem solved! I am VERY pleased with Priceless Investments and will definitely be using them again. I am very disappointed in Michael & Sons telling me that I needed a new, specially-ordered system to replace my heating elements when a simple repair was all that I needed. I am 99% sure that the M&S technician who did my tune-up had to have noticed exactly what was wrong. I will not be using them in the future. Thank you to Priceless Investments for saving me almost $800!

The representative showed up late the evening of the appointment but was able to identify the problem. He then suggested that a piece of equipment within the furnace needed to be cleaned and I agreed to it. However, since he showed up late I have an engagement to get to so he agreed to return at 9:00 AM the next day, which was Saturday. I paid him for the visit and told him I would pay him for the cleaning once it was completed on the next day. However, he decided to bill me for the work anyway even though it was not performed. I did not realized that he did not remove that charge until I was signing the receipt but in the end I went on and agreed to it since he was scheduled to return the next day. On Saturday at 9:00 AM he was a no show and I waited until 9:30 AM before calling him but he did not answer my call and he did not return my call even though I left him a voicemail with a reminder of our appointment. I did not hear from him until late Sunday that he would be out Monday to finish the job that he had already charged me for. I wasn't until Monday around 1:00 PM that the job was completed. When he arrived on Monday to complete the job he had an attitude, I think because I wanted to cancel the job and have him credit my card because he did not come back on Saturday as promised and I voiced my opinion about that too. So, when I came in, he stopped at the door to put on his nylon shoe protectors however; they were very dirty and I pointed it out by saying "those are dirtier than your shoes are and I don't want whatever that is on them on my floor. So, he took them off and walked on my carpet straight to the furnace without any protectors. This was totally different than how he acted on Friday when he first came to my house. When he left he put his old dirty shoe protectors in my shredder bin. Again, he as very professional the first night but when he returned he was very unprofessional. John P.S., I may be off with the date but it was around that time frame and the days are correct.

I specifically told customer service from when I called from the very beginning that my HVAC is leaking water and condensation is forming around the unit. This in turn cause water to drain in the basement floor. I told exactly the same thing to the HVAC person who arrived. He was very courteous, very professional, and took care of minor details like putting shoe socks. He took a look at the unit quickly and also looked at the compressor (outside) units. He cleaned them, added freon, and did other sorts of things that I thought was in my best interest. However, the primary problem of a leaking HVAC unit which was THE MAIN REASON why I called and trying to get fixed still has not been resolved. I still can't turn on the AC because of the water leaking and this is AFTER shelling out $1,115. It really feels like Michael & Sons tried to get the easy work done first and get my money quickly. Very frustrating. Would I ask them to come back and fix the main problem? Probably not. I'm calling the professionals this time.

His knowledge of what it was and what he was dealing with. he told me exactly what he was going to do and did it within a reasonable time.

He comes out every 6 mos to do a tune up. They change the oil, change the filters and check it all out. He was the only one I could find to service the generator. They call and set up an appointment with me, and if they don't think it needs to be done, they say they'll come next month.

The service man was very friendly and had a lot of digital gadgets to diagnose problems. He found that our freon was low, and charged us $125 per pound to replace it. At the time I did not question my charge although I needed 4 pounds so it was pretty pricey. He did not find the source of the leak (it would be another couple hundred to run that test). The following week I needed a AC repair on another unit in a rental property that I own and called out a different company, who charged me just $50 per pound AND he found/fixed my leak for free. Later I posted a review on YELP explaining my dissatisfaction with being charged 2.5 times what another company did for the same exact product (freon). The customer relations guy called me up to ask me if they could get me to change my review on yelp if they came and did more services for free. Tried to explain that they have higher prices because they are a large company. I'm not buying that excuse and did not accept their offer, the bad YELP review stands. It's a long time later and I'm still annoyed when I see their ads on TV, which is why I'm writing this review now. Would absolutely NEVER recommend a company with this policy of price gouging.

David Linkous was very professional and did the job in a timely manner. He was very informative. And we are very pleased with Michael and Son.

I would never ever trust Michael and Son Services to perform any work on our home. The men who came out to diagnose a problem with our water heater seemed like nice people but gave us a quote that was 3x the cost - yes three times - what two other service providers gave us. Then, the computer printed estimate they gave us was not itemized -it did not break down the cost for the parts and labor like the other estimates we received from other providers. When I asked for an item-by-item estimate, I was told I'd have to contact the office, which I did but never heard from anyone. The final straw was that the Micheal and Son service techs told us that we'd have to have them install additional vents to the outside in order to properly install a new water heater. Supposedly our current hook up was not up to code. Well we suspected that was pure nonsense as our home was just built about 10 yrs ago. As was verified by the provider that actually installed our new water heater (BGE Home), our heater connection was done according to code and did not need to be altered at all. We spent $99 for the Micheal and Son service call and it was a total waste of our time.

Todd, from Micahel and Sons, arrived on time for the 69.00 deal for the HVAC tune up. He preformed the tune up and talked me through everything he was doing and check on the outdoor condenser and the inside furnace. Todd did a few other things that other companies who have done seasonal tune ups did not. Todd also gave me a few (4) quotes for replacing my HVAC unit and walked me through the pros and cons of those units. Todd was every knowledgeable on the equipment he quoted me on. At this point i have not replaced my HVAC units but i doubt i will be using Michael and Sons to do the job, their estimates were extremely high and of lesser series models than other quotes i have received. example of this is (carrier and Rheen) 80% furnace and a 16 seer condenser for just below 10k. while i was quoted for a top of the line american standard 97% furnace and 16 seer condenser w/ T stat for $8700. I guess the idea that you pay for larger companies advertisement hold true. I will used michael and son for their seasonal tunes up but that is about all.

I live in Harford County, MD. I found Michael and Sons on google. They were very helpful, came out the same day, fixed our wiring, and even gave me an estimate for another job. They were fast , very friendly and professional. I was very impressed.
