Maryland Computer Guy

Computer Repair, Computer Training

About us

Maryland Computer Guy is a Veteran Owned Small Business that services all of Maryland. My name is Steven. I was born into a generation that grew up with personal computers. Through years of hands-on experience, in both the public and military sector, I have become a specialist in mac and windows computer repair. What does this mean? If you have a mac, you will save a lot over going to the mac store. If you are building a new computer, I can advise you on parts and prices so you receive a good value, or I can build you a custom computer to your liking. If your current computer is too slow, I can upgrade the parts so it will run faster. If you have a virus, I can remove it and save what is left of your documents. Bring your business to me. I think you will be impressed by the quality of my computer repair service.

AWFUL and unresponsive - would never recommend to anyone!!
Description of Work: During my initial telephone conversation with Mr. Lee, he advised that he had been in the military, so was was very dedicated and trustworthy. I coordinated computer training services with him to begin on 7/13/15. He was a no show no call. I attempted to call to reschedule; however he never responded to my calls and his voice mail box was full.

Steve called the following day to ask if we had any problems, we didn't but when I mentioned I'd bought the ram to add to both machines (he had agreed it would be a good thing to do) he said he'd be happy to drop by and install it for us which he just did today - with no extra fee to us. Steve further accommodated us by doing the original work on a Sunday when our daughter could be here since she knows a lot more about our computers than we do, and will be our tutor with the new programs if we get stuck. Having all the work done at our home also was a big plus to the service. Steve has told us to call if we have any problems and he will be happy to walk us through the resolution on the phone. I would definitely use him again if I have a problem with the computers.
Description of Work: Steve Lee is the owner of Maryland Computer Guy. He is a navy veteran and was very professional and knowledgeable but able to explain what he was doing in an understandable manner. Steve upgraded a laptop and pc from windows xp to windows 7 reinstalling a lot of our old soft ware such as our very old email program Eudora which we love but is no longer available and getting everything to work with the new system. He checked that everything worked and that the scanner and printer and antivirus program were doing what they were supposed to. Steve had given us a price of just under $400. on the phone, half of that was for the new windows 7 software, He had estimated it would take about 3 hours. It ended up taking closer to 6 hours but Steve was very clear that he did not charge by the hour and he very patiently and persistently kept working when glitches slowed things down until everything was doing what it was supposed to.

I was having a bunch of issues with my wifes computer a dell inspiron laptop. My buddy p90 at work told me to look up maryland computer guy a local business man who specializes in computer repair. I called and within 2 days he was at my home diagnosing my problem. He was very professional when he showed up at my doorstep greeting me with a card. It was nice to see a company where the actually owner comes to do the work for you. We sat down he took my wifes laptop apart and went through everything bit by bit adding more hardware and changing out a default battery. Upon the reboot of the computer he had all the software on his end to perform all checks and diagnostics to find out the viruses in the computer. Once found he eliminated them no problem. He also gave information on keeping the computer safe and virus free. His reccomendations are spot on. After the work was completed I asked him if he had time to show me how to set up my wireless network... smart tv, printer, bluetooth through my internet provider. He took a extra hour out of his time to do this for me with no charge. Now everything is up and running. Just felt good to see quality honest work from honest folk. He also gave me a 10 percent coupon for my next transaction.
Description of Work: Removed various types of mal ware and spy ware from a dell inspiron laptop. Removed horrible virus and trojans. Added new hardware to the computer. Updated all software. Installed new versions of microsoft office. Set up my home wireless routers and printers.
