Chad was GREAT. He explained everything that was wrong and gave me his recommendations for fixing it. He also tested our water pressure and we were pleased to see it was in the proper range. I love that I pay "by the job" and not by the hour.

Lenny, the service technician introduced himself and offered to wear booties in the house. He checked the water heater and diagnosed a leak around the top heating element. He explained what he recommended to fix the leak and the pricing. Our water heater is under warranty so parts are covered. Lenny said that he had the parts on the truck, that they were cheap, and of we used the warranty we would probably have to wait for replacement parts to be shipped to us. He recommended replacing the lower heating element and thermostat as well, since that would only be $60.00 more. Lenny was a really nice guy, explained what he was doing, and answered all our questions. I thought that he did a quality job. This was the first time that we used Len The Plumber and I forgot to ask if they used flat rate pricing. I am not a fan of that pricing as you don't really know how much the parts are and what the rate of the labor is. They quote you on the price of the job. This was not a labor intensive job so the price seemed high to me at $363.00. I did find a $10.00 off coupon on their website and Lenny deducted it so I paid $353.00. Everything else involved in setting up the service call was A plus. I put in for service online on Saturday. They called early Sunday morning to schedule. Lenny called when he was on the way. He arrived on time and did what seemed to me a good job. His appearance was neat.
Description of Work: The plumber diagnosed a leak around the upper heating element. He replaced the upper and lower heating elements and the both thermostats. He drained the system before doing the work. The plumber turned the water back on and purged the line.

I called them because I was getting water in my kitchen sink when I drained the bathtub upstairs. This has happened in the past and we just snaked the kitchen drain and it fixed the problem for a while. I wanted the problem to go away permanently. The main guy Justin was nice and polite. His assistant, I never heard his name, was pretty rude. He spent a lot of time sitting on the back of the truck smoking cigarettes. They damaged the side railing of my porch with the truck door (due to the assistant flopping down on the back of the truck) and when I mentioned it to the assistant he said "sorry" and got off the truck. When I mentioned it to Justin, he also said "sorry about that" but didn't even go to look at it. At one point Justin couldn't even find his assistant. He came up to me and asked me where he was. I couldn't find him either. I paid in cash and he couldn't come up with $5 change. So far the drain is working, but in the past just snaking the kitchen drain has worked for a while. The real test will come in time. His estimated work time when he gave the estimate was 4-6 hours. They came at 10am, left at 11:30 til 12:30, and then were gone by 2pm. I thought that the price was based on the amount of time they spent working on it. They only "worked" for about 3 hours. I do feel that I was overcharged but when they came to give the estimate, they charge you $49 that you lose if you don't hire them. In hind sight, I think I should have just given the the $49 and sent them away. What ever happened to free estimates? I will never use a company again unless they provide a free estimate.

We called probably early in the afternoon and they had a service rep here probably within 2 hours. If you need somebody in here, that type of company is the kind of company to call. They're available 24/7 and they're good in what you would call an emergency situation.

I like their promptness, and same-day service. They took care of all my needs. If there are potential problems, they note me to that. However, their price is quite expensive.
Description of Work: I use Len The Plumber for plumbing service. Actually, I've used them a couple of times within the last four months. Recently, they came out to unplug the drain. They had to reseat the toilet, and they checked all the drain line to make sure everything was cleared out. The septic system was the culprit in the long-run.

We have been using Len the plumber for 20 plus years. We will never use them again. About 10 years ago we noticed water leaking from the bottom of the toilet. It warped the subfloor so after getting that fixed, Len the plumber came out and repaired the toilet. A few years later, the EXACT same thing happened. Of course the "warranty" is only for 90 days...so once again we had to replace the subfloor and Len put in a NEW toilet. Another 6 years go by...we are remodeling the bathroom...and SURPRISE, the has been a slow leak happening for years. This leak was dripping down to a crawl space, we didn't know it was happening for over 6 years. This time, we had to repair ALL the supports and subfloor. After spending a fortune on this floor because a plumber can't seem to do one of the most basic jobs that a plumber does...we finally got a clue.... "Let's not use Leen the Plumber EVER again"

They were trying to upsell me and tell me things I needed, which I didn't. Their prices were also outrageous, they tried to charge me over $5,000. I think that was very un-professional of them to tell that you needed this done right now, when I didn't. When the office found out they did apologize and wrote a letter to me about it. The company honored the request to also get my money back.

Called to have new commode installed bathroom. Informed that the service was no emergency. The old commode had been giving us some trouble for the post six months. We informed them that the commode must not exceed an installed height over 28 inches because of a narrow shelf above the commode. We had had a new commode installed in 2011 in the powder room and the height was approx. 28" and asked if we could possibly get the same model for the upstairs. The office informed us they would check around and get us the one we thought we needed. A few hours later we received a call from the technician and that he was on his way. Several hours later we had the new commode in place and ready for use. You can't beat service like that. We moved to our current address over 16 years ago and have been through quite a list of plumbers . We have been dealing with Len the Plumber for approx. 2 years and highly recommend them.

So impressed! I called late afternoon on a Monday and got an appointment for 1st thing Tuesday morning. They were so helpful and professional on the phone. Mike got here and was so understanding as I listed all our concerns. He got right to work diagnosing the problems and gave me options of how we could proceed to fix them. He had to cut through our wall to get to the leaking drain but did everything he could to make it as small a hole as possible and went through the back of a closet so it would be less of a burden to close back up. He explained his whole process and was very thorough and cleaned everything up when he was finished. He also snaked a toilet we were having difficulty with and diagnosed it as an issue with the actual bowl, not the drain. He right away waved the cost of snaking since it didn't solve our problem. Even though they did that work they wouldn't charge me for it since I still had to fix the problem. I thought that was great! He walked me through all the possible solutions and helped me understand. They also put the $49 service fee for coming out towards your bill if they do any work so that you don't have to pay that extra.

When we called Len The Plumber, a technician came over to check the problem. He was able to diagnosed the problem by using high tech equipment. He showed and explained to us the problem and how will they perform to fix it - We were satisfied about their explanation and gave us an amount how much are we going to spend - no more no less. We agreed to the price and gave us a date when their workers will come with the equipments to be used. They arrived on time as scheduled and slowly they started to do the work. As their work progresses, thechnician came over again to check the progress of the work and the work to be done to fix the problem. On the second day everything was completed and all the areas were properly cleaned without any problem.

I was extremely disappointed with Len the Plumber, and that's probably an understatement. My toilet had a crack in the overflow pipe, so basically I needed to install a new flush kit. No big deal, to be honest. Bought the kit at Home Depot for 20 bucks, and went to take my toilet apart. The toilet tank attaches to the rest of the toilet by two bolts. One was completely rusted and wouldn't come off. I thought about using a hacksaw or something to cut it off but wasn't sure if it'd work, so I decided to call Len the Plumber because I've seen their commercials on TV. I talked to a dispatcher on Sunday 7/7/13 and explained the situation, and told her the problem. Basically, I needed 30 minutes to an hour of labor to have a plumber come out, take a look at the toilet, tell me if the bolt could be removed and remove it (again I wasn't sure if it could be sawed off and figured a plumber would know a little bit more). The dispatcher offered next day service but I couldn't rearrange my schedule so we scheduled it for Tuesday 7/9. She said that the plumber would call 30 minutes prior to arriving and gave a window of between 8-12:00. The plumber called about 8:30 and showed up by 9:00, so on that account I was very satisfied. The plumber took a look at my toilet and said the cost to do the repairs would be $250 if I used the parts that I purchased, or $270 using Len the Plumber certified parts. My other option was $450 for a new "low end" toilet or $750 for a "high end" toilet. I was astonished and quite frankly offended and annoyed. $250 to remove a rusted bolt? A new toilet at HD or Lowes costs less! The plumber informed me that Len the Plumber charges by the job, and not by hourly labor costs. I told him that I was never informed of that by the dispatcher and had I known that, I wouldn't have bothered scheduling a service call! I ended up having the plumber cut the rusted bolt and was able to only be charged $122 for a "diagnostic fee". Considering I was already in $60 for having the plumber come out to the house to look at the problem (which wasn't actually necessary as I told the dispatcher the problem on the phone), and I didn't want to crack the toilet, I figured I'd just have him cut the bolt and leave that way I didn't end up paying $60 for him to walk in the door to tell me what I already knew, screwed up on my own and cracked the toilet tank/or bowl trying to use a hacksaw to cut the bolt and be out another $200 for a new toilet from HD/Lowes. Be very wary of Len the Plumber. This company is clearly accustom to taking advantage of people who don't know much about plumbing, or home repair in general. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy, let alone a friend or a family member.

It was a Sunday when I called Len to come out. I had just gotten back from vacation with my husband only to find that if we took a shower the overflows would drain all over my basement floor. This was at least a bucketful of water each time we showered. I called Len to come out and the first man that came said this was a drain problem and he "Was not the drain guy." So he called the office and had "The drain guy" sent out the same day, within an hour. When "the drain guy" got there he brought a large machine in and snaked my drain once. He then told me that the line was collapsed and "the camera guy" would have to come out to tell me more. He said he didn't think that snaking the drain anymore would do any good but "if I really wanted" he would do it a second time. I asked him to snake it a second time. He was in and out of the house in about an hour. I paid $480 for the drain to be snaked and the promise of "the camera guy" coming out later in the week. The line was clogged again within 2 hours of "the drain guy" leaving. The camera guy came a few days later and told my husband that the whole line had to be replaced. The line was full of tree roots. This process was going to cost $6,000 and would en tale Len digging up the sidewalk in front of my home and replacing the entire length of pipe that was leading from the outside of my house connecting to the City sewer. Thank god I got a second opinion! I had another plumber come out to see if I could get a cheaper price for such a big job and this man told me that there was no need to replace anything. He came in again with his snake and pulled a bucketful of roots out of the line and everything was running smoothly and I have had no problems since with the plumbing. I did have to pay this second plumber $350 for his snaking services but it was worth it to save me $6,000!
Description of Work: Len the Plumber snaked my main drain that connected under the front sidewalk to the city sewer. My house is in Baltimore City so this is a rowhome with old pipes.

I called on a Sunday when I discovered the back up in the basement. I was given an appointment for the next morning. Technician showed on time, explained his work and showed me the results. Camera technician arrived after the cleaning to see if the clog was clear. I was able to watch this (kind of like a cardiac catheterization) and what I was seeing was explained. I got to see the water running through and where the roots had invaded the pipe. The technician used sonar to locate the exact spot of the problem outside. The technology was amazing and beats having the entire yard dug up in search of the problem. The solution and the rationale for it were explained to me. Both technicians were extremely informative and clearly wanted to share their information. The work crew for the pipe replacement was able to come out in a day and do all the work outside so nobody needed to take off work. They did not make as big a mess as I expected, and they uncovered the outlet to the septic tank that had been buried for a while. Len the Plumber has been our go-to plumbing service for years and they have never failed us.
Description of Work: Attempted to clean out the sewer pipe leading to the septic tank. Video camera inspection revealed that tree roots had invaded the original sewer pipe (circa 1950's), causing a back-up into the basement and cleaning was not the cure. Pipe was replaced. Inlet to septic tank was uncovered.
