Len the Plumber came out. They gave us an estimate from $750-$1200 to reattach a sink. We eventually had the work performed by another plumber for about $200. Not only that they charged us $59 for a house call. Rip off artist. Of course, we didn't have them perform the work. The guy said something ridiculous like, I have to cut the pipe, it's like, it's PVC. They were here in February, 2016.

The work went well. Workers showed up quite early. They were polite and professional. After more thorough research I suspect I could have just used PEX and saved so much money. Also, the warranty should have been much longer based on what was done and the cost. The average for this area is about $1500.00. Live and learn.

Good morning! We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review, and we're happy to hear that our technician was polite and professional. There are advantages to using PEX piping, however, there are many more advantages using a substitute material! We do hope that in the future you'll consider using our services again.

I live in three-story townhouse, and noticed some back flow in basement shower. After seeing the positive reviews on Angie's, we went with Len. True to the reviews, my overall experience with Len was good. The CSR on the phone was courteous and helpful, and Len was even able to move up my appointment two days to work with my schedule on the fly. The service tech showed up on time, was courteous and professional, and the job was complete within a couple of hours. Unfortunately, he wasn't a camera tech too, so another guy had to come two days later making it a little inconvenient for my schedule. A few minor gripes: - The appointment took place over two days: one day to address the issue and one day for the camera tech. I wish the same guy could've performed both jobs, or they both could've arrived together; scheduling two appointments was a little inconvenient. But they worked with my schedule, providing same day service so I can't complain too much. - Overall, I wish the service tech was a little more talkative. Although he spoke about some possible causes, I wish he would've offered more explanation about his chosen course of action. As someone not knowledgable about plumbing, I wasn't sure about what to ask, and didn't understand why it was so expensive. - $528 is expensive! And when I look through the comments on Angie's List, the prices for Len's services seem all over the place - with mine at the higher end. Some customers on Angie's even mentioned negotiating prices down for services. I'm not sure if I could've tried this tactic or not. However, when I asked about the high price, the answer was: "drain cleaning is just always generally expensive just for the equipment itself, and the actual pulling the toilet and resetting it too." But when I talk to friends and colleagues, the general response was that I got robbed. Unfortunately, I'll never know. And that's left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
Description of Work: From the receipt/work order: "Checked outside cleanout, no water at cleanout. Pull basement to toilet to run large machine. Reset toilet after with new seal and bolts. (30 day warranty) Attempt to clean main sewer line with large machine through basement toilet. (no warranty). No warranty on drain cleaning."

It was alright. They were unable to resolve my issue, but they were able to give me a suggestion for someone who has. Personally, he was just fine. I believe it was something they should have been able to take care of, but at the same time, he did not waste my time. He was honest with me when he felt like he could not. The only difference between what they did and the company that was able to resolve my issue was that the company that resolved it had altered the drain piping so that they were able to get a larger snake in with a blade and actually clear out the clog that was causing my issue.

Everything about the service was terrific except the price, which started out astronomically high and then (after multiple contacts with the office) ended up just being high. Before scheduling the work, I had read an Angie's List article on what a toilet replacement in my area should cost, and it had led me to expect a price in the range of $150 to $260. So I was floored when the technician arrived and quoted me $400 for what was a very simple job that I had already begun myself (by removing the tank of the old toilet). When I told him that I would accept it (I wanted the job to be done and over with) but that I would not be using them in the future, he called the office, and they agreed to lower it by $50, to $350, which was still way over the Angies LIst recommendation. After the work was finished, someone from the office called to ask about my satisfaction with the work, and I mentioned that given the price I would not be using them again. The next day, another person from the office called, and ended up agreeing to send me a check for $50, which brought the price down to $300. Still high given that the job only took an hour, but at least no longer astronomical. The technician was very professional, courteous, prompt and knowledgeable. Based on this and one prior experience I've had with them, I believe Len the Plumber hires excellent techs, and you can't beat them for scheduling your work because they are huge, but their prices both times I've used them were very high.

It went fine. They were here in September 2014. It cost $300. There was a dime caught in the garbage disposal and he could not get it out and he asked me to go get one and I went and got one and he charged me $200 above the estimate because he had put in a new garbage disposal. I didn't like that. The quality was good. I have used him before.

He (Joe Allen) was able to explain everything he was doing, very knowledgeable and helpful. Took out the old hook up that was leaking into my wall, cut hole in wall and replaced with new (and easier to use) hookup for the washing machine. He cleaned up nicely after himself too. Only down side is that they don't fix the drywall after they are done, but I have some other projects in the house I need done before I replace the drywall anyway. He even stayed to make sure nothing else was leaking. He gave me an estimate for other work I was interested in very quickly at the end before he left.

I first called Len the Plumber to come check my Water Heater because it was 16 years old and was not working efficiently. The first visit went very well, Keith arrived within one hour of calling (very fast) and diagnosed the heater as being old, rusty and not up to safety codes. He also explained that the previous welding job was not done well and whoever installed it struggled with the welding of the pipes. He provided an estimate for a new 40 or 50 gallon Water heater as well as an estimate for $175 that day to make my water heater safe in the meantime if we chose to do the full installation at a later date which we went with. I called 2 weeks later to set up the full installation of the 50 gallon water heater. My appointment was scheduled for 8AM and I was called the day of at 7:30 and asked if my appointment could be moved to 2pm because of an emergency job that was not complete the day before. I agreed but Keith did not arrive until about 4:30. Overall that day the job went smoothly and took about 2 hours. I thought I was good to go. However, within 24 hours I checked on the heater and noticed a consistent leak coming from the newly welded water line pipe connected to the heater. I called that evening to report the leak and was told the earliest they could come out was the next morning. A different plumber came out this time and replaced the welded joint but did not offer to clean up the obvious mess that was left from the leak overnight. So the Ironic part of my experience was that the guy who installed my heater stated whoever installed my original heater "struggled" with the welding job, however, his own welding job failed and he didn't even show back up to fix the job he failed at... I thought I had found a great new fast and responsive plumber but now I am rethinking that and finding a different company to work with in the future. UPDATE: A service manager followed up with me within a few weeks and apologized for the mistakes made and offered a credit for my next service call with them. I appreciated the honest response and will consider using Len the Plumber again.

A technician (could be "Steve G." from the paperwork) was able to come to our house on the same day that our problem arose. He was friendly, professional, gave an accurate estimate, and made an appointment to return on Monday when the storage warehouse would be open. (We had the option to get the unit sooner with a $100 fee to open the warehouse on Sunday. Instead, we turned off our water for the day and were fine with the wait.) They had an exact match to our short 50 gallon electric heater in the warehouse. The technician returned when expected, did an excellent job, and did a reasonable job of cleaning up afterward. The old heater was leaking and needed to be carried through a carpeted area and stairs so the numbers of stains was fairly low, considering the job. The technician did return most of the stains and we were left with a few black drops to scrub out later. Throughout, the technician and office were professional and efficient. We would definitely use them again. We used this company because they were recommended by friends and neighbors. I am unable to judge the cost since this is the first time we've needed to replace a water heater. I do not know which portion of the bill was tank and parts and which portion was labor and installation.
Description of Work: Replaced our leaking 50 gallon electric heater and added an expansion tank and new 3/4 valve. Removed existing unit and installed new unit, valve, and expansion tank.

We are pleased with the results. Roger is the man and Len the Plumber is the Company. Great.
Description of Work: The large main incoming water pipe broke in the basement and flooded the entire basement floor to approx. 10". The water was squirting out the pipe and made approaching it for inspection and repair an impossibility. Roger went out to York Road and dug through the ice and snow and turned off the water and then went and obtained the parts for the 1921 pipes. This was on Sunday and most supply houses were closed. This was a large project and repair and was very well done on a historic house.

The battery in my sump pump would not charge so I called Len the Plumber. I called Ferguson and they said they carried the battery and the cost was $150.00 but they did not do installation. I remember Len the Plumber had same day service after seeing their ad on TV. I called in the AM and was told they would come out the same day between 11am and 3pm and give me a written estimate for $49.00. The plumber (Pat Wolfe) showed up and gave me a written estimate for $414.00. I told him that was way too much since I had priced the battery at $150.00 and how long would it take to install. He said a couple of minutes and that was the company's price. So I said I am being charged $414.00 for a 2-minute job and he said yes. I told him I would go and purchase the battery and asked if he could install it. He said the cost would then be $189.00 but he didn't know when or if he would be able to come back to install it. I told the plumber I wanted to get the battery installed that day because the forecast had called for a blizzard and possible power outage and I didn't want to take the chance of not having the backup battery so I told him I would go with his price. He then told me he had to go and purchase the battery which he did. He came back 45 minutes later and installed the battery in a couple of minutes and the final cost was $404.00. I asked him to write on the receipt the type of battery and the warranty since he did not give me anything showing proof of purchase for the battery. He said the company's receipt would serve as proof of purchase and one year warranty on the battery. What a ripoff! I felt robbed but happy I had got the job done. If the weather wasn't calling for a blizzard I would have never agreed to that outrageous price. I like the prompt service but not sure if I will use them ever again due to the price.

The first day they had to find the problem because we didn't know exactly what was wrong with the sewer pipe. It took him probably the good part of the day. They didn't fix the problem, the problem wasn't fixable that way. He said the underground pipe had disintegrated, he thought and he wasn't sure. It took him a long time to clear the line. He said he would come back the next day free of charge and sent a camera down to check what was going on and they did. He said we could use it minimally at that point but we couldn't wash clothes or do anything like that. It was just for personal uses, that was it. He said we had a very irregular line with a couple of turns or something but they would come out as soon as possible and fix it. We were surprised when it came to 6,500 dollars which is a lot but we didn't know what to do because we were coming on to the holidays and we were having a lot of people here so I just told hem to go ahead and do it. Meanwhile, we got a lot of damage to the house from the sewer line and it was quite a mess down there. I just wanted to get it over with. They were polite and every thing. The only issue I have with them is the aftermath. I had to be gone the day they were here but my husband was here. They had to take down a fair amount of landscaping on the side of the house and it was according to their contract. The thing I didn't like is that they pulled up bushes and laid them on top of other bushes. My husband asked them to take the bushes away but they didn't do that so we had to get somebody else to come and take them away. That was an extra expense yet we are in our 70's and then also we have an underground watering system in our yard and they broke the pipe for that. I haven't gotten back o them about that but I need to. We lost carpet, we lost everything in that room. They just finished last week actually. The guy who came out the first day is the same guy who came out the next day and he was very polite. They didn't get back to us afterwards. It was pretty expensive.

They were good. They missed some things and didn't put them back after they were done. Also, scheduling them was a little bit difficult. It was not too bad.
Description of Work: They replaced a water heater for me.
