Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal from Kelbie Home Improvement for a home winterization packet. They did some caulking and stuff.

Description of Work: The entire experience was excellent, We had no idea what the process was and the Kelbie organization came to our home , set up the entire process, including samples and prices. The equipement was delivered and installation was right after that. The installation crew was very professional and straight forward, we had to have the plywood replaced and the cost was higher than the estimate, however the job turned out great . the crew even cleaned up everything before they left. would strongly recommend , they will not be the cheapest, be the quality was top of the line

Description of Work: I purchased the maintenance deal on line due to the fact that I had several roof tiles missing on the roof. I contacted Mr Kelbie by email I believe. He came out and inspected the roof. In the mean time I had decided to have the whole roof replaced and was interested in estimates from several companies, one of which was Kelbie. I received an email estimate of what I thought was an extremely high price as I had done some research on line with other companies. I had two price quotes from Mr Kelbie the first was high..and then the other was even a higher price. Based upon the extremely high prices I chose another company. They came out performed the service. I was extremely satisfied with the work/cleanup..and general care they exercised and their overall professional service. I don't believe some companies remember that we have access to the internet to both research as well as check for the best/reasonable prices for services.

Description of Work: The worker who did the power washing did a very good job cleaning the siding. The problem was that he caused a lot of damage to my window screens. Where the screen was all black, the power washing left white marks on the screen and in 14 screens there were holes in stripes because he was too close/used too much pressure. He used a mixture of bleach to get it really clean and even washed extra things he didn't charge me for like patio chairs. Very nice guy, but I am really upset about the screens. The agreed to not charge me for the power washing.

Description of Work: Initially their responsiveness prior to work being done was poor. The two gentlemen, Ray and Wilson did an excellent job of the pressure washing of my home . Looked like new. I appreciated Ray inspecting my roof and chimney while he was up there. He found molding and some loose shingles. In addition there was sealing needed on the chimney. He took pictures and reviewed the current situation. I agreed based on his great evaluation to power wash the roof and seal the chimney on April 20th. I am confident the work will be perfect based on the power wash of the house. I am very satisfied with their service.

Description of Work: Experience was great. Both providers called me, Kelbie had established a date for service. The only reason I cancelled is I was unable to find someone who would perform all the needed work to my home in a very short period of time who comes highly recommended by my neighbors. This cancellation is no reflection of the service providers mentioned nor Angie's List. Still very happy with Angie's List.

Description of Work: We purchased a big deal coupon as it seemed like a great deal at the time. We already had estimates for a roof shingle replacement and the idea of getting 46% off for the first eight customers who opted for the big deal was amazing. So we grabbed it. We called the company right away and to their credit they came out THE SAME DAY to provide an estimate. That is when it all went downhill. The estimate was no cheaper then the full retail price estimates that we already received on the open market. As they explained the price I brought up the fact that the original coupon which stated 46% off of $12,000 was for a 2,000 sq. ft. size roof or less. Since I had quotes already around that price I figured that my roof was about 2,000 sq. ft. They told me that my roof was 3,500 sq. ft. based upon another open market contract I mentioned that stated that the roof size was 35 squares which is how they determine the number of bundles. (bundles per square). They told me that a square meant 100 sq. ft. hence 3,500 sq. ft. SEE THE PROBLEM NOW ANGIE! I do hold Angie's list somewhat responsible as they should determine that a coupon offers legitimate savings to the consumer or is just a rouse that preys on the uneducated consumer. Angie's list should have known that this was an inflated price of $12,000 in order to show a hearty discount of 46%. In my research, a 2,000 sq. ft. roof should only cost around $6,500 to $7,500 max. So if you say it costs $12,000 and are then willing to discount it 46% off then you just get back to a normal price - So again as I asked them - WHERE'S THE DEAL. It was at that point that they ripped up the quote in front of me and proceeded to leave in a non professional manner - I will just leave it there. I want them to also know that they ended up offering the lowest quote after I worked to get there price down. There quote was about $500 cheaper. I just could not feel comfortable working with them after that experience. As a business owner myself I would offer this advice. Roof replacement is a big investment so expect people to get more then one quote. This company had some good ideas for cost savings including free installation of skylights if we bought them ourselves. (we could get them at Home Depot)Offer a honest discount of say 10% off labor or something like that. Your number will be proved good or bad in the end anyway. We ended up going with a company called Marshall Roofing in Lorton, VA. They gave us their best price upfront, and provided a very detailed quote as to what exactly we would get for the money. They answered all our questions and comparisons with honesty and professionalism. There is a good reason that they have an "A" rating on Angie's list. Angie, I do want to stress that you should have realized that this was not the deal it was made out to be. The money for the coupon that they told us you keep ($975)should give you a sense of responsibility to make sure that your customers are getting real deals as advertised.
