We took advantage of a roof repair special, noting that we particularly interested in knowing whether there were any leaks in our attic. The people that came to our house spoke absolutely no English, stood outside our house smoking (very unprofessional, in my opinion), and were about to leave without even looking in the attic. Then, they put me on the phone with the owner (presumably) who tried to give me a sales pitch about getting a new roof before I could even ask about whether his men could go into our attic, as we had requested.

The Kelbie workers responded on the date agreed to, and on time. The lead worker explained, in detail, what they were going to do, how they were going to clean the siding, and the type of cleaning solutions they were using on my house. They Initially had problems with their equipment (Power Washer didn't work). After several minutes, they got the washer operating, and the workers went right to work. The lead worker was very professional, answered all the questions and concerns I had, and completed the work in a timely fashion. After the job was done, they cleaned up and didn't leave anything behind. I was completely satisfied with the work performed, and the workers who did the work. I would use Kelbie again, and would recommend them to anyone that need their sidings cleaned.

Mike (the owner) came by and gave us an estimate that was way under another estimate we had received. We paid 1/3 up front (for materials, etc.). A few weeks later a trailer was delivered. The next day the crew of 4 showed up to begin installing. Nestor, the crew leader, was great, answering all my questions and pointing out a couple issues with the gutters and chimney that I should take care of. No hard sell, just giving me a heads up. I paid the second 1/3 at this time. It took more than one day to complete, as the materials were delivered that morning, and the weather was threatening, so work was begun later than they wanted. They finished the next day, at which time I paid the remaining 1/3. They also did 3 other houses in my neighborhood, and each of the others were done in one day. If there's any (small) negative I can give, is that Kelbie is very busy. So don't expect to buy and roof and have them show up the next day. You have to have some patience and realize that there are things beyond Mike's control (such as the weather) that might delay when they can come out. But your patience will be rewarded with a great roof for a great price.
Description of Work: Had complete roof replaced. Removed old shingles. Replaced a damaged plywood sheet. Put down new felt paper. Install new flashing, drip edge, pipe boots. Install new GAF Lifetime architectural shingles. Install new ridge vent. Completely clean up and haul away old roof. Roof looks fantastic now, and this will be the last roof I'll ever have to buy with the lifetime warranty.

Once they started they did a great job. We gave them the down payment 7 weeks before the job started and we understand that there was alot of damage from the storm at the end of June and everytime rain was predicted they couldn't take off someones roof...but 7 weeks? Everytime it rained we had rain pouring into our kitchen. They did alot of work in 2 days and did a good job cleaning up. 3 weeks later, we are still waiting for a detailed breakdown of the job they did so we can submit it to the insurance company.
Description of Work: They replaced the whole roof on the house and the shed with plywood then shingles. They installed a solar fan on the roof. They made replacement doors for the shed and fixed drywall ceiling in the kitchen where a branch had come through the roof into the kitchen. They also patched 2 other drywall cracks in the ceiling.

we found Mike thru an Angie's list Big Deal for a roof replacement. While he was replacing the roof, he mentioned that we also needed a paint job and he gave us a quote. It took quite a number of weeks for Mike to start the project, but when he started, he did a great job and even touched up our gutters which were looking tired.
Description of Work: Mike painted the outside of our house. He power washed the aluminum siding, then painted the siding, the wood around eaves, windows and the shutters.

We called Mr. Kelbie in August for a slate roof leak. He was able to come the next day and provide repairs (roughly $400); we also purchased a sealant for the roof from him (about $600). A few weeks later, we had significant rain and the roof leaked again. We called Mr. Kelbie and while we were initially told that we only had a 30-day guarantee on the roof, after much discussion, Mr. Kelbie came back to the house and re-inspected the work. He provided additional sealant and repainted the interior walls damaged from the second roof leak.

Went well, good install, good cleanup. I was a little disappointed at the quality of the gutter guards. They are aluminum with holes punched in them. Screwed with machine screws into the gutters. We will see this season how the leaves falling on the gutters goes. If they stay unclogged and leaves come off of them great.
Description of Work: Bought the big deal for gutter cleaning and gutter guards. Knew I had more than 100 feet included in deal so wasn't surprised to have to pay additional 140 dollars. Came in and cleaned gutters and installed guards.

We had just gotten an estimate from another company before seeing Mike Kelbie's offer on Angie's list. It was for the roof only and not replacing the plywood sheets. $18,000. Gutters would have been extra $3,000 as would the sheets and insulation. So we figure we saved on the roof and got even more done for our money. Mike was quick to come over after we had purchased the coupon to look at the job and scope out our particular needs. Mike was pleasant to work with, very clear in what he could do for us what our options were and upfront with the costs. Those costs he stuck to completely. He had a good response to the offer so it was unclear exactly when he would begin our job. Although he did ask us to pay in full at the time since Angies was on credit card, it worked out well. So we did have to wait about a month from our first contact, but we knew it was not going to be immediate. I did have to email after a few weeks to inquire about an absolute start date but once that contact was made the start date was set. In fact the job started 2 days later because of weather and finishing another job. Although Mike himself was not there daily, he was there at the start and at the end. The crew was very polite and cleaned up twice during the three days. It was a mess and very noisy while stripping the old roof. It was amazing to see the house without a roof at all. They worked hard and long hours, staying into dinner the day it was going to rain. When we had rain before all the shingles were on, they made sure the tar paper was on well before they left and said if we had any problems during the night to call at any time and they would come and fix it. We had heavy rain and there were no problems. They installed my rain barrel diverter and consulted me twice to make sure it was right. When I had questions during the job, I would email Mike and he would return my email within a few hours. After the job was completed, he came over to inspect the job the next work day. He is going to pay for one smashed ceramic flower pot that was not moved. He also gave us some good prices on some needed vinyl siding and driveway fix for the future. We will probably have him out to do more work after we recoup from the roof costs. I feel confident that he would be good for his word that if there are any problems,( we questioned about a roof vent that we had trouble with in the past) he will come make it right. I found Mike pleasant, responsive, eager to do the job well and concerned that all went well and as expected. And the roof looks beautiful!
Description of Work: Complete new roof including all new plywood beneath. GAF timberline shingles, cobra vent system, drip edge. Blown in insulation to increase r value to 38 R....greatly improved over what we had. New gutters, larger size and larger downspouts. Including gutter guards to prevent clogging and no cleaning maintenance. Put in a rain diverter to our rain barrel.

I will be upfront and state I don't know anything about roof construction. I wanted the replacement because my my shingles looked old and I knew they were beyond their 15 years of life. I started looking for someone to replace the shingles back in July. I was drawn to Kelbie because of their "Big Deal" offer for a townhouse roof replacement for $4300. I didn't do much comparison shopping. My neighbor said their roof replacement estimate was around $5500, so $4300 seemed like a fair price. Also, Kelbie's Angie's List rating was very good. I called the Kelbie office on Wednesday the 4th asking for an estimate. When Mike arrived, he knocked on my door. I was surprised because I didn't get a phone call. He was in the area so he stopped by. I grew up in a small town, so people showing up unannounced isn't that big of a deal. Mike started off by basically saying yeah anyone can see that your shingles need to be replaced. He also explained they were buckling. He said for $4300 he would replace the shingles with the Timberline HD which comes with a lifetime warranty from the mfg. He explained that in the event Kelbie went out of business, GAF would honor their work and the warranty. He talked about replacing the plywood for an extra $1000. I don't remember how/why that came about. In the end I figured $5300 for a roof with a lifetime warranty would pay for itself eventually. To meet code, he mentioned that they would have to get FIR CDX fire plywood for the edge of the house that butts up with the other townhouse (I am the end unit). There is a slight discrepancy here which may well be nothing, but worth bringing up later in the review. We talked about roofs for a little while and I explained to him that when it rains outside and there is a hot shower running, I get condensation around the master bedroom door. He explained a potential root cause for that is not having a vent for the bathroom. He would install that at no extra charge. He also talked about a new ridge vent and drip edge vents. Looking at roof websites you can see what those are for. To sweeten the deal he said he would paint the shutters. Since I don't have a ladder he was selling this to the right person. So we called it a day and I signed the paperwork and gave him my credit card to pay for half of the work - $2650. We set a date of 9/25 +- a couple days for work to begin and gave it 2 days for completion. Rolling ahead to 9/24. I haven't heard from Mike so I give him a call. He says his guys can come drop off materials on Thursday or Friday and begin work on Saturday. I say I have to check with my better half and will call him on 9/25. Saturday will work. So I call him back on 9/25 in the evening and leave a message saying Saturday will work. I get no response. At this point I am expecting work to begin on Saturday 9/29. On Thursday 9/27 about 7am I get a knock on the door. Suspecting it may be the roofers dropping off the material I go downstairs to say hi. There is no Mike, but there is a crew of 3 guys. They explain they do not have the materials but they are here to work. Hooray! Again no call, but that is okay They start tearing off the old shingles. A trailer pulls up around 930-10 with the materials. I peek inside and see the shingles but I don't see the plywood. The crew was under the impression they were tearing off the shingles only. After a call to Mike from the foreman, they cleared everything up and agreed it was in the contract and that they would be replacing the plywood. If I wasn't there, I wouldn't have got what I asked for. It was an honest mistake but one I feel should be noted. The crew started tearing off the back half of the roof. This mistake delayed them about 2 hours. While we were talking about the plywood, the foreman pointed out to me that the skylight was in bad condition. He also mentioned that whoever did the original install did a hack job on a diy trim work and that was partly why it was in poor condition. For $1100, he would install a new skylight. Since he was already up there and everything was being replaced I said let's go for it. The foreman left to go get the supplies. Around noon the foreman came back with the plywood and the skylight, paint samples for the shutters and lunch. The crew lunched for about 1 hour and resumed work around 1 pm now that all materials were there. While they were getting started on the install, I was curious about the fire plywood so I asked the foreman where it was. He said it wasn't needed because there was stone/firewall in between the houses. I brought up bringing the roof up to code, and he said it wasn't needed. Mike said I would need the fire plywood. I don't know the code, so I don't know who is right. I didn't dwell on it further. I checked on the crew periodically. They were nice, cordial and hard working. They ripped out all the old boards and shingles, put up the new boards, installed the new skylight and a couple vents along with installing the new shingles. As they were finishing up, Mike stopped by to collect payment around 6:30 or so. He collected the remaining $2650 for what was agreed on and the additional $1100 for the skylight. The crew finished up around 7:15 pm. They cleaned up the exterior pretty good considering they finished in the dark. They left and said they would come back to finish up the painting on Friday. It rained Friday. I called Mike on Saturday morning and he said someone would be able to come out and paint later that day. During the same phone call, I told him that there was debris in the gutters, both mine and my neighbors. The shutters look great and they even spray painted the top of the bay window copper for me. They did not clean out the gutters today. To summarize, I didn't always get a call back to confirm times or dates, but that didn't stop the work from being completed on time. All in all, they were great. The things that didn't go great didn't stop the crew from turning out an awesome roof. About 40 minutes after they left on Thursday, the roof was put to the test when it started to rain heavily. I was a little disappointed they didn't clean out the gutters today, but based on the response I have been getting from Mike I know it will get resolved. Lastly, I am bringing an inspector out to confirm what I view as a quality job, and to resolve the fire plywood question. I would recommend them to friends. On a final note, Kelbie's reception team was very nice and formal. Everyone on the team was truly great.

I couldn't be there the day of the install, but Mr. Kelbie made it work. The work was done quickly and on time and on budget. Afterwards, he sent me photos almost immediately for confirmation. My HOA cited me for having a tiny bit of dirt towards the roof of my single detached colonial house. I couldn't reach the dirty area. I purchased the deal. I was not home during the washing, but they showed up as scheduled and did a fine job. In fact the went the extra mile. I had 3 small white tables on my back deck that were dirty. I noticed that they were washed as well which was a nice surprise. I had left an outside clock on the back siding, and the company took the clock down before washing.

We had our roof completely replaced by Kelbie. They came bright and early on Monday morning and got right to work. The roofers were very forward about any additional costs we might encounter due to incomplete or poor workmanship from the prior roofing job another company did before we puchased the home. Some companies might tear off your roof and then say, "Oh, by the way....." And there you are with no roof and looking at potentially thousands in extra costs to finish the job. To their credit, Kelbie did not do that. The roof was finished by early that same evening and the yard was cleaned up very well. We got the Timberline HD tiles and the roof looks amazing! Excellent quality for the price!

Other than stripping my porch and front door, the rest of the job went well. They took their time and really cleaned up the vinyl siding quite well.
Description of Work: They did a GREAT job on the pressure washing of the vinyl siding, they took their time and removed all the dirt and mold and the siding looks much better than before. There was some confusion on the size of the house and consequently, the price, but they explained it and it makes sense that a 2-story house costs more than 1-story house. No issues there. After they left, I noticed that my front porch lost a lot of paint in the pressure washing. A LOT of paint. My front door, which I had recently re-stained, is now peeling and the finish, damaged. At first I thought that the paint was just old and maybe had been peeling, but I consulted with an independent contractor who showed me where the pressure washing itself had done the damage. The pressure washing was done so close to the wood that it literally tore up splinters from the wood, after stripping the paint, and this is visually verifiable. There's no question as to what the problem was, wood doesn't normally splinter up like that. So now I have to repaint my porch and front door because these pressure washers, who did such a great job on the siding, held the pressure wand too close to the wood and stripped my paint.

Got the special, but with extra work including replacing some beams on a separate porch roof, the whole job ended up being a lot more expensive than I originally hoped. The crew did a great job, and we got what we paid for. Mike's original estimate about when the work would start was way off, but he kept in touch. When we finally got scheduled, the crew worked extra hard to get the work done promptly. Mike noticed a place on the gutter that needed fixing and did that himself at no extra charge.

I am sort of surprised that this service got so many bad reviews; I had a fairly good experience. The roofing guys showed up, got on my roof and took pictures of whatever problems they saw. They offered to repair the issues while on the property for another 250 - this is on top of the 150 I paid for the Big Deal. Now, I gave this company a B just because I thought I should have gotten some of the repair for free rather than having to pay for all of it. After all, most companies will give you estimates for repair free of charge and the repairs were completed in about an hour. The repairmen also tried to get me to spring for all new shingles (about 2500). The sales pitch was a little more insistent than I felt was appropriate; another reason I gave them a B rather than an A. I'd probably use Kelbie again for roofing issues.
Description of Work: Roof inspection and repair.

we perform the service professionally suggested changi ng out some additional parts on the roof the member agreed but give us a B rating because he should have received something for free why would you have to receive something for free he paid for 1 service what's that service was performed and it did not include any extra hours for free this goes to show you what kinda dead beat this guy is let me go into Jiffy Lube and ask them to rotate my tires for free since I am getting an oil change if you go to a doctor to get an examination or a dentist do they do that for free ? we perform the service well and he give us a B rating because he should have got something for free ludicrous if the business cab giving stuff away for free it would not be in business for long it cost money for gas insurance employees and we like to make some profit we all like to eat pay are rant and feed our family if we started doing stuff for free then we would not be in business long the only thing you get for free is air and sometimes depending on what gas station you go to the charge it least a dollar for it so basically nothing is for free today I can't believe this guy was looking for something for free
