I purchased an Angie's Big Deal for a power washing for $198 for up to 3,000 square feet of exterior. I have no significant complaints with the service performed (though they did not wash the plastic decorative shutters that are on the sides of each of our windows); they did a decent job washing the house and did it in a timely manner. However, after the completion of the work, the technician tried to collect additional $180 claiming that the the house exterior was significantly larger than 3,000 square feet. He did not provide any details of what the exterior size was, and how he had arrived at that number. I was shocked because our house is fairly small, and I had siding replaced just recently, so I knew for sure there was less than 3,000 square feet of exterior space. I refused to pay the extra and contacted the owner of the business - Mike Kelbie. Before doing so, I have performed a detailed measurement of the exterior, including soffits and other trim, and came up with 2,600 sq. feet at most. I've provided the information about our measurements to Mike and said that I'd be happy to pay the extra, if it's justified. That is, if there's something in my measurements that's different from how he is measuring the exterior. Instead, I got a lot of nonsense in response trying to guilt me into paying the difference without providing ANY meaningful information. While I appreciate that Mike did not try to push the matter any further and collect on the extra $180, I was left feeling that I could never trust this company.

Kelbie home improvement had a special promotion for gutter cleaning. The price was awesome and they did an excellent job. I am planning to hire Kelbie home improvement for roof replacement as well.

Overall it was an excellet job. Crew did arrive very early, but that was no problem to us as we are early risers. They did a great job and several neighbors commented on how nice the finished job looked and at how hard the crew worked to get it done. Mike is a great guy and you do work directly with him, the company owner, in setting up the job. The only reason for the "B" in communication is that because you are talking directly with the owner you can't always get a hold of him quickly like you would with say an office manager, and once or twice the answering service either didn't get the message to him or was slow in getting it to him. I would definitely not let that stop me from using Kelbie for further work, it is just something you need to be aware of when you work directly with the company owner who is also out at the job sites and not just sitting around in an office. When Mike did get the message he was usually very fast to respond. Finally, the price and value were absolutely fantastic. I had a couple other bids that ranged from several thousand more to as much as almost three times more in price, and we are talking about the exact same roofing materials and quality of job. So, to summarize, I would highly recommend Kelbie Home Improvement to anybody without any hesitation.

I scheduled the service for Friday August 17, 9-11am appointment for gutter cleaning. I called and left a message at 11am because they hadn't shown. I received a call back about 11:30 stating that my appointment had been overlooked and that a technician would come in a few hours. I called again about 2:38pm and at 2:40pm and left messages. They finally showed up after 6pm. They did the quickest cleaning job ever (I'm not confident they cleaned the gutters on the side of the house because they never walked around the house to get there. They also had to nerve to "up sell" me on roof repairs stating I had missing tiles and seals broken.

Overall I have mixed feelings about my experience with Kelbie. For bigger jobs I usually wait before reviewing to see how it stood up to the test of time, and there was a problem. The team arrived for an estimate the same day as I called. They found the apparent source of the leak which was a loose shingle, which they removed and brought it down for me to see. They then took a picture of the now large hole in the roof. It was about to rain and it was difficult to negotiate with a now much larger hole in the roof! I had to hire them at this point to repair the damage with a storm coming. This left me with a bad feeling, because I could not help but wonder if this was a sales tactic. They quoted a very high price $3000+ then brought it down when I mentioned being an Angie's List member. They sealed the hole with a patch same day, then ordered materials and came back and did the work professionally. However, they missed some chimney flashing and there was a leak during the october hurricane. I called them and they did come estimate the same day, offering a repair for another $2,000, decreased to $1000 as part of the sales pitch. At this point I called a second company who found the source of the problem - loose chimney flashing. Kelbie was offering to make the wrong repair! Bottom line: Prompt, professional, expensive. I have no issue paying top dollar for top quality, but the work was inadequate. This leak occured during extreme weather, but the team should have found it in the first place.

I highly recommend Kelbie Home Improvement for their services. I am a repeat customer of this company based on my past pleasant experience with them. Siding looked great afterwards. Price was a little high but overall happy with the service provided.

I did not use Kelbie Home Improvement. I received multiple quotes and went with another vendor. I have no issues or complaints.

Mr. Kelbie was very busy, but we eventually met one evening after dark and he asked for the color I wanted and he asked for an additional check of $3500 for additional square footage (still seemed reasonable), waited several weeks for work to begin primarily because he was hoping a neighbor would also get a roof. When I contacted him, he got right back to me and scheduled the work (12/5/12). The workers did an excellent job, but I lost some shrubbery. The roof looks fabulous and the price was right as my neighbor got an estimate from Sears for over $30,000. Mr. Kelbie added a new skylight and attic fan for $1500. I was OK with that as well. Overall the quality of the roof and the work was outstanding!!

I bought a Big Deal coupon from Angies List for Kelbie to power wash my house. It took repeated calls to get them to set up an appointment to come out to my house. When they came out to my house, they tried to charge me more for my house then on the coupon. Then they tried to upsell me cleaning my gutters. I felt like I was being scammed. I will never use them again and do not recommend them to anyone.

I would have to rate the experience as average. Make no mistakes about it, I received a new roof that was impeccably and most efficiently done. The roof itself is stunning. However, I believe the company's administrative services leave a lot to be desired. I initially made contact with the company after purchasing the Big Deal on July 28 2012. I reached out to the company on September 8. I made an appointment with Mike Kelbie September 27. I never received a reminder via email of the appointment as the weeks went by. I then emailed him on September 26 to confirm our date. He asked me if it would be ok to reschedule the meeting for the next day instead. I had already rearranged my schedule to conform with our date and needed to keep the date. I then asked him when he was going to alert me of a schedule change? His response via email was that he would comply with our original date. We met and he was most courteous and knew his craft backwards and forwards. He showed me where my roof was faulty. I appreciated the information. He told me when he could schedule my roof replacement. We scheduled the replacement for October 22. THe process would include selecting roof shingles and tarping of the roof. There is a common thread where I must contact the company to remind them of the service I need. A little bit of this is fine to a degree. I never received any communication from Kelbie the closer October 22 came. I eventually sent a confirmation about the roof project on October 16. On October 17th, I received an email telling me that there has been a delay which would push my roof my replacement date. I received no replacement date at that time. I felt as if my project was shrinking in importance. Regardless of what I paid, I asked no more of what was committed. When hurricane Sandy came on October 30, I was sitting in my family room and water started leaking from my ceiling. Profanities started whirling through my head as I thought of how my roof should have been completed and how I would not have had this problem. I sent off an email that night, basically expressing my dissappointment at why I was in this situation. Kelbie was responsive but still not definitive on a date. After trying and failing to get an insurance reimbursement for the damage done by Sandy, my roof project was scheduled for November 14. The foreman, Nestor was quite informative and arrived spot on early. The installment went without a hitch. I was charged for additional plywood and was promised an invoice for the check I wrote. I have been trying to get this invoice after several emails to Kelbie. As of this writing, I have still not received the invoice for my income taxes. To summarize my experience, the roofing skill is great, the customer service leaves so much to be desired. Maybe the company needs a new administrative assistant?

Showed up almost two hours late. But since they were very generous and allowed me to use my Angie's List deal soon after it expired, I didn't say much. Because my roof is three stories up, I can't give info on the quality of the work done. I assume my gutters were cleaned thoroughly. They did take a bunch of pictures of my gutters and roof, suggesting I have a few things to address. I agreed to them wiring the end of one of my gutters. And I think fixing some shingles or something. Funny, they only took photos of what they said I needed to fix. They did not take pictures of the work they'd done. By the time they got me, they had already taken the ladder down and didn't want to go back up on the roof.

I bought the Deal, called and made an appointment for the pressure washing. They never came. I called and was told it was for a different date and time. As I was talking to the man, it felt lilke it was an imposition to him, that I had made the mistake and he had a lot of work going on. The next time they were suppose to come, they came several hours early. The guy took a walk around the house and said the house was too big for the "deal" and it would be more money. It was very hard to converse with him as he barely spoke English. I asked how much more and he said "little bit" and it would be okay. I've had the house washed before and never had to pay extra for the size. The 2 men did a good job. One pretreated and then the other washed the house. They pointed out a hole in the siding and wanted me to know that they didn't do it. I don't believe they did either. Anyway, after they were done, they presented me with a bill for about $500, like $300 more than what I paid originally. I don't remember when I had this done, it was a while ago. I didn't even keep the receipt because I figured I would never use them again or refer them. I thought about calling the company back, but I believe I talked to the owner originally and didn't get warm fuzzies from our conversation. As I say, they did a good job, but I felt the price was WAY out of line. They did pre treat, but I never had to have that before and was always happy without it.

The job went very well. They completed the job in 1 day and removed the debris and trailer the following day.

Gutters were cleaned thoroughly, Technician noticed some issues on the roof pointed them out to me and provided me a great price to repair. Pleased with my experience and look forward to working with them again.

I called Kelbie beforehand to make sure they serviced slate roofs. So I purchased a $149 roof maintenance package from Angie's List. When I called to schedule a time, the folks at Kelbie were very professional and helpful. They had a crew that was going to be in the neighborhood the following day. I told them I would not be at home but my wife would. My wife said they arrived and spend about an hour on the roof sealing and repairing it. It all went very smoothly and without disruptions. They cleaned up after themselves so the grounds around the house was just as it was when they arrived.

I bought big deal for Gutter Cleaning $150. I called this company four different times to schedule an appointment and never received a call back. In between a busy schedule I finally spoke with a representative and he set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment it was raining and they were a no show. I did not receive a call cancelling the appointment or a call to reschedule the appointment. I had to call them for the fifth time to reschedule the appointment. They told me that they would be out the following Friday morning. I waited again until after noon and called again for the sixth time. I spoke with someone who was extremely rude and told me that I was on the schedule for the afternoon and if I did not like that then he suggested that I go back to Angies List and get my money back. I have never in my life dealt with a company that was so run so poorly. If I didn?t need my gutters cleaned so bad I would have gone back to Angies List and gotten my money back, as a matter of fact I had called them just prior to calling the company back to ask what was the process to get that done. I do not know who is rating this company with all A?sbecause I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone else. When they finally came out they used a leaf blower and cleaned out the gutters. They did not blow out the downspouts that I observed until I asked them to. They were here maybe 1/2 hour. It was definitely not worth $300 an hour worth of work.

Somewhat diffucult to schedule the appointment.The workers came somewhat unprepared to reach the top front gutters with the ladders they brought even thoughI fully explained that our townhouse was 3 stories high. They did reach the gutters from the rear deck. Black marks were left on the deck from there ladder which I was able to clean off.

We bought the Angie's list reduced price roof maintenance package in September 2011 for our home, and Kelbie Roofing confirmed what our gutter-cleaning service man had told us when he detected "mushy" parts on the roof that seemed unsafe -- our roof including the entire sub-strate of plywood under the shingles needed replacing. We paid about $11,000 for 1400 +sq ft of roofing. Mike Kelbie sat and discussed options with me very patiently, as we had specific requests for white, Energy Star rated shingles. The roof removal also was our one opportunity to insulate the space above the inside ceiling since we don't have an attic (modern-style house built in late 1960's), and Mike and crew were very patient with helping me coordinate with our chosen insulation company and creating waiting time for the insulation to be pumped in before they resumed their work. Mike turned out to be interested and enthusiastic about watching the insulation process so that he could suggest that service to future customers. We also very much liked the crew forman, who was very professional, thorough, and personable. About six months after the roofing, we noticed some damage inside the ceiling, and thought the roof might have leaked ( it didn't). The company sent someone out to check fairly soon after we called and emailed, to inspect and make recommendations for free. caveats--Kelbie Roofing was not always as prompt in responding to me as I would have preferred, but over time realized that was a function of Mike Kelbie having to do that himself and work on his business; there didn't seem to be an office person who could have been trained to resond to customers, keep a transparent scheduling calendar, etc. Also, Mike's writing ability via emails is a bit off-putting, but again, that's not what we hired him to do. The only other thing--the damage in the ceiling was somewhat extensivve, caused by water and moisture that got in before we had the roof replaced and then the insulation trapping the moisture or damage inside the drywall until the ceiling paint started buckling and peeling. It seems plausible that an experienced roofer could have thought to tell us, "Ya know, the under-roof was pretty destroyed from dampness in the area nearest the chimney. You may want to have someone take out a piece of drywall and check into seeing if it is moldy/needs to be replaced." So I'm writing this to forwarn those of you with damaged roofs to check that.

I purchased the Big Deal today at 8:00 AM for Mike to have a crew clean the gutters on my townhome whenever they were available. I was expecting to wait a week to two weeks since we just had a storm and this seems like it would be a rush time since all the leaves just fell. One of Mike's crews showed up at 3:00 PM (yes, same day) and cleaned the gutters. I watched them (for interest, not to be picky) and was impressed with the work. A crew member showed me a few photos he took of the rook and said Mike would email them to me. Mike did, at 7:30 PM (again, still same day). I thought this was a nice service. I don't get on my roof all that often, and this gave me an idea of what, if any, damage has happened over the course of the last year. I'm going to call Mike every year to have my gutters cleaned, and I am also going to see what other services his company provides, because I am impressed based on today's work.

Arrived on time and performed work as expected. Professional and courteous.

They did alright. However, I can not get on the roof to see the work.

It took awhile to schedule the appointment. They probably only have one person coordinating the appointments. The following was the response to trying to schedule the appointment via email (copy/paste): "yes I will stop by before the mechanics to inspect the roof I will take pictures and send it back to your email and let you know exactly what's going on where exactly are you having trouble with leeks ? is it by a goner is it close to avenal a shin pipe or a flash in close to the chimney?" My entire correspondence was via email and each was written like the above. I find the other reviews on Angie's List regarding this company to be pretty accurate.

The only qualm I have with him is the inability to respond in a months’ time. I waited about a week after purchasing the Deal. I kept reaching the receptionist and Mr. Kelbie didn’t return my calls. I called Angie’s List to get a refund and they contacted them and then he was Johnny on the spot. It got about 6 emails in the next couple of days. I decided I didn’t want to go with him and requested a refund.
