I am currently in process of remodeling (finishing) my basement. After the contractor arrived, he informed me that we would have to lower the sprinkler heads in order to accommodate the new ceiling. My girlfriend, Beth, contacted the Heubert Sprinkler Company, asking for a quote for services. Within the email, she asked that she be contacted at our home telephone number, since the email she was using was not checked frequently (she is not allowed to utilize her work email for personal business). This lead to several emails back and forth and no phone call. The email chain between Beth and Mr. Heubeck reads as follows: From: Gary Heubeck, CET Sent: Thu, June 16, 2011 7:36:05 AM Subject: Re: Thank You!"As I told you, I already cancelled this job. Please shop elsewhere. Don't contact someone with an email address that you don't use. How stupid that was." From: Beth Sent: Wednesday, June 15, 2011 10:09:52 PM Subject: Re: Thank You! "Not sure how many times I have to tell you I don't look at this email very often so why is it you can't pick up the phone and call like requested??? Thank you but I will take my business elsewhere...." From: Gary Heubeck, CET Sent: Wed, June 15, 2011 7:15:15 PM Subject: Thank You! "T%hanks anyway for your request. Service request closed due to no response." From: Gary Heubeck, CET Sent: Wed, June 15, 2011 10:47:38 AM Subject: Re: Quote "Need to know by 12:00 today if tomorrow will work." From: Gary Heubeck, CET Sent: Tue, June 14, 2011 3:14:21 PM Subject: Re: Quote"No sheetrock on ceiling around heads" From: Beth Sent: Tuesday, June 14, 2011 2:34:32 PM Subject: Re: Quote "My contractor would like to know if you would prefer the sheet rock up or down when you drop the sprinklers?" From: Gary Heubeck, CET Sent: Tue, June 14, 2011 12:08:41 PM Subject: Re: Quote "Material and labor $382." From: Beth Sent: Tuesday, June 14, 2011 11:50:13 AM Subject: Re: Quote "They need to be dropped about 1-3/4 to 2 inches down and they are on copper piping. The best way to contact me is at 410-939-1281. I hardly ever check this email account." From: Gary Heubeck, CET Sent: Mon, June 13, 2011 2:18:49 PM Subject: Quote "How many inches do the heads need to be dropped approx.? What is the pipe material? Orange plastic, steel or copper?" I didn't find the price unreasonable, assuming $6 per extension (nothing more than a copper nipple) for a total of $48 in parts, leaving $334 in labor. IF he were to spend three hours on the job (with travel) and have an initial service charge of $75 for the house call, that would have him charging a rate of approximately $86 per hour. Keep in mind that several emails were exchanged, but no phone call as requested. When he didn't hear a reply within a day as to whether or not we were able to meet HIS schedule, the request was cancelled. Very unprofessional in my opinion and I am being too kind with my adjectives.
Description of Work: A quote for services was provided for the extension of eight sprinkler heads in our basement. The quote totalled $382.
