It went very well. Frank is a 3rd-generation sharpener, very personable and efficient. He did the work in his home while I waited. In early 2017 he moved to 8221 Carrbridge Ct., Riderwood, MD. His phone # is now 410-908-6433.

from my real-time Google review, posted at around 3:50p on 6/26: Well, Frank was very friendly and he is my former neighbor. I had been referred to him as he is in walking distance. I was making arrangements to have him sharpen my scythe blade and he gave me his new address but we discussed that I may be able to drop off the blade at his old home. I just decided to ask him why he relocated, as it seemed neighborly. He had some bad experiences, including it sounded like he was assaulted in the '70s, since a few decades ago. But I heard him use terminology such as "the darks" moved in and I believe, "it (the neighborhood) turned to pepper" - I asked him to repeat himself. He repeated the pepper phrase. He clarified that the darks meant "you know" Black people. I then informed Frank that I am Black. He called me "m'aam"; I told him to have a good day & may GOD bless you. I decided to show mercy and terminated the call w/ only that warning - that I am Black. I had a man call me me ****** to my face about apprx 25 yrs ago; I was apprx 8-10 yrs old. Since then I have never had anyone make the mistake of calling me out of my name again to me directly. Funny, here I am a Black woman, professional, homeowner, chose to patronize my neighbor and obviously keep my lawn decent because I needed my scythe sharpened. People are entitled to believe what they want and I am entitled to take my money elsewhere to a place that people won't dare call me out of my name or be wise to not talk that way to a me, as a potential customer. I terminated my call w/ Frank at apprx 3:49p today 6/26/17.

Frank did a fabulous job. He works fast and the knives are like new. He even refashioned a 6" knife with with a broken end. You would never know it had been damaged.

I called Frank Monaldi on Thursday and he was able to take me that day. I was very impressed with his set-up - he used a three stage process starting with a large grinding wheel and finishing up with hand stropping the knives on a very fine stone. All-in-all it only took about 10 minutes and I was back at work before my lunch break was up. Highly recommended!

I called at about 11:30 on a Tuesday and he said he would be there until 3pm and I could come over. He gave me great directions and I drove up and he sharpened five of my knives. Two we somewhat bent and he took about half an inch length off one knife (after telling me the problem and then telling me what he could do). I am enjoying my like new knives.

Excellent service. Had been using a chefs choice but the knives were significantly sharper after Frank handled them. Great job he even showed me his boccie court. Had to wait while he serviced another customer but that went very quickly.

Had about 15 knives sharpened - chef's knives, paring knives, set of steak knives,all were in dire need of sharpening. Took about 40 minutes or so. Frank did an outstanding job, knives are razor sharp. His shop is in a one-car garage behind his house, knives everywhere, and a huge grinding wheel. Frank is very friendly and personable, tells jokes, talks about family history, etc while you sit and watch him sharpen your knives (on a huge grinding wheel). Easy trip up to Baltimore from Silver Spring, well worth the drive. Recommend him most highly, and will definitely use him in the future. Frank is absolutely 'The Sharpest Guy in Town'!

I was in dire need of getting a custom set of woodworking chisels sharpened. Not wanting to damage them by doing it myself, I took them over to Frank's. His shop is located behind his house and and to say the least a fascinating place to stand in. He sharpened my five chisels and a sheer off of a vintage paper cutter I also had in record time and he did it on the biggest sharpening wheel I have ever seen in my life. It looked like something out of the Flintstones! But never the less, Frank did a fantastic job and the price was far less than what I was expecting to pay. I strongly recommend his services.

I called Frank after lunch on Saturday and he got back to me within a few hours. He offered three different ways I could get me knives to him to sharpen. Things worked out that I was able to run my 13 knives to him about 4:30 PM in the afternoon. Even thought Frank normally doesn't sharpen knives on Saturday evening he was willing to do my knives while I waited. Frank was professional, nice and cheerful. I waited about 30 minutes while he sharpened my knives. If fact they are so sharp I could shave with them if I wanted. I definitely will use Frank again. His service is excellent.

He sharpened a lot of knives for me. He is friendly and fun to talk to. He is a funny guy. You can also watch while he sharpens and they are razor sharp

Frank allowed me to drop off my knives on Wed. when I was out shopping near his home. He completed the work and my son was able to pick up the knives on Thursday afternoon. My knives are the sharpest they have ever been! I would highly recommend Frank for your knife needs.

I was very nervous about hiring someone to sharpen my Wusthof knives fear that they would do something to permanently damage them. Regardless, I called Frank to find out his availability. He provided me thorough directions to his workshop and I went over that afternoon. All were sharpened within less than a half hour and during that time he provided me tips for care and maintenance. He showed me how to properly use a sharpening steel so I can keep them in good shape in between sharpenings. He also warned me about safety since he had put such a nice edge on them! Since I live south of Baltimore, he let me know his regular route so that we can make arrangements in the future to prevent me from having to drive so far north. As a bonus, one of Frank's friends escorted me to the Bocce ball court where several kind and generous men taught me the rules of the game and discussed their lives both in and out of Italy. Now that is what I call a wonderful overall experience! I used the knives the next day and couldn't believe how much easier it was to cut up my veggies! Hooray!

I left a message in the morning and Frank returned my call a few hours later, even though he'd just returned from taking his daughter for knee surgery. He explained that he was usually available Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, but he'd done his Thursday work on Wednesday so he could take his daughter. Still, he told me I could come over after he returned from the pharmacy, just call first. After calling, I went over. He sharpened the knives as I sat and watched. He offered advice on caring for the knives, don't put them in a drawer. And he advised to have them sharpened twice a year, mine had gone 2 years.

I called and left a message at his shop. He called back later that day to tell me he would be at his shop after noon the next day (in the mornings he is out making deliveries and pickups at restaurants around town). I showed up and he sharpened all the knives for me while I waited. Very professional and did a great job. He also told me that he does tools, etc as well.
