Poorly. The sales representative failed to show up for the appointment, and they called to convince us to give them a second try with a small discount. We gave them the chance and the sales rep who came was very good and we ended up signing the contract with them. When they came to install the carpet they arrived at the right time and I left them in the house to do the installation. When I came back they said they were done, but on inspection I noticed that they had done the two rooms and hallway, but only one of the stairs. They said their information said nothing about a second staircase and that they didn't have the materials for it anyway, so someone would follow up with me later to work things out. Also during the inspection they pointed out that one of the closet doors had been disconnected in the install. They indicated that I would need to get this fixed. After they left I went around shutting closet doors and I found that the door they indicated was damaged worse than it appeared, and another door (and the track it is on) was damaged even worse, and they had said nothing about it. It appeared that they had pulled the door straight out, twisting the track and breaking the mechanism to hold it up. A representative called later that day to admit that the fault was theirs, and to schedule another appointment for the rest of the installation. On the day of the appointment I received no call and I waited for over an hour, and finally I had to leave because I was missing work. I called to inform them of the situation and to ask why they didn't show up and when they were coming again. They finally got back to me to say that they would come out the next day instead, but did not explain why they didn't show up other than to say that I should have waited longer (beyond the expected time!) The second appointment to finish the job was kept and when I pointed out the damage to the two doors, they contacted the previous team who denied having done it at all. I was told I had to talk to the customer service department. They completed the install in good time and left. To all appearances the installation seems to have gone well. I had to put in a lot of time on hold and leaving messages trying to get through to someone who would help with the damage which the first installation team did. After over a week of this, I finally got an appointment, but the man showed up early (during another appointment that I had). He was able to partially fix one of the doors, and I had to pay out of my own pocket to get the second one fixed. I was never given any compensation for the delays or for the damage that they didn't fix. I complained to the central corporate number, and they offered me nothing. I am selling the house (hence the new carpet) so I don't know how the carpet will wear or what quality the installation job is in the long run, but I do know that on the basis of the installation itself, I would never contract with any Empire company again.

From sales visit to install, all went OUTSTANDING! Chris, the sales rep was great! And the 2 installers (I forget their names) were unbelievable!! There was only 2 of them, and since they were going to be moving the furniture too, I thought it was going to take some time to get done. They came in, got going and had my carpet done in no time. He said about 3 hours to complete. I don't think it even took them that long. If you're going to get carpet, I would definitely start with Empire Today. Thank Empire!

I would tell others to avoid them. He fixed what was wrong, but I didn't think I should have to pay for something they did wrong. It's something they should have fixed for free. They do come out quickly to do the work, but I wouldn't use them again.

The installation went well, I had to have them come back to re-stretch the carpet, carpet was laid in rooms that are considered spare rooms and within months the carpet started to buckle, they did come back out and re-stretch within a year the carpet started doing the same thing. I called Empire and because they only have a 1 year warranty on installation they wanted to charge me 300.00 to restretch the carpet, if the carpet was installed properly the first time I wouldn't be having this problem. They need to stand by their installers and fix the issue. I spent alot of money with this company and feel it is not my responsibility to pay for something that was not done right to start with, the one year warranty would be different if I didn't have a problem a few months after the installation.

I setup to have carpet stretched. Nobody showed after telling us they would be there between 9 and 12 noon. I had to call them and then they said they would be they around 3 pm. I cancelled order. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM EMPIRE again. Just not a good company to deal with. Main reason is there is no communication between office and workers. Very hard time understanding workers. Have to have them repeat everything. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING, I MEAN ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.

I said "No, dickering back and forth is a pain, and if the price could be lower it should have been offered during the appt.". So I went with the second company. I hope,the upper mgmt learns a lesson here, because they lost a sale.

We decided to just get the living room done first and see how things went. The sub-contractor assigned to install the flooring showed up a little bit late on the appointed day but they called early in the morning to let us know and make sure it was OK. We had prepped the room by removing as much furniture as we could and the contractor did the rest, they moved the couch and a huge mirror my wife owns from one side of the room to the other as they completed portions of the floor. All in all they did a very good job and performed professionally throughout. We are very happy with the service and with the results, the floor looks great. If we get the rest of the ground floor done we will use this contracting team again.
Description of Work: Empire came by on a Tue to give us an estimate to remove carpeting and install hardwood flooring on the ground floor of the house. The first estimate was for the living room, the 2d estimate was for the front hallway, dining room and pool room.

Both the salesman and installers were professional, informative, and friendly. The salesman arrived on time and did a very good job describing the various carpets available as well as installation possibilities since we were carpeting a below ground level floor. He answered all questions were had and set up a day for installation. The day of installation arrived and the crew showed up on time. They called 20 minutes before they arrived so we would be ready. The crew briefly reviewed what they would do and set off to work. They worked efficiently and stayed on task. I was impressed with the quality of their work as well as their friendliness. They did an excellent job and completed the job in the time promised. After thoroughly cleaning up and helping to move the larger pieces of furniture, they took the time to explain care considerations and answered the questions we had.

It didn't go. They never came out.
Description of Work: Empire Today was supposed to come out and measure for blinds, which I would purchase through them. After calling me the day before to make sure I would be home, they called the next day (after I HAD TAKEN THE DAY OFF FROM WORK) to say they couldn't come. I was upset and said I would go with a different company, because in my mind a big company should be able to send another service technician if one "had an emergency". I let it go, and then a few days later, the sales office from Empire Today called and asked what could they do to get my business back. Ultimately they agreed to give me $150 off the price of my blinds if I would give them another chance. So I made another appointment, again THEY CALLED ME the night before to ensure I WOULD BE HOME, and then again today called me to say they wouldn't come, after I had taken the day off from work.

The salesman that showed up seemed less than enthused to help us, and against my better judgment, we decided to go with Empire. I took a day off of work so I could be here for the installation. The installers arrived, spoke VERY little English, and didn't bring enough carpet. They stood there and looked at me like I knew what to do! When I called customer service, they were rude, condescending, and not helpful. The young lady on the line said that their supervisor was going to call the installers right away, and after waiting for 15 minutes, he did not call them. I called a total of 6 times trying to get hold of someone that could help, and I was sent to a voicemail service each time. When I finally reached someone, and explained the situation again, I asked to cancel the install, which they did. I sent the installers on their way and asked for a supervisor to call me back, which did not happen. Long story short, it was a terrible experience, and I would not recommend dealing with Empire. Go to a local shop and have them do it.

Well to start off with, we had a free estimate scheduled on a Saturday with a 2 hour window of 9-11. We also received confirmation phone calls 3 times during the week including 1 the night before. The 9-11 am window came and went and no salesman to be found. As we called and were on hold with Empire we noticed an email was received at 10 am saying they're sorry we cancelled our appointment. ?????? We asked the woman on the phone why they sent us an email saying that we cancelled. She said no, they cancelled because not enough sales reps were in our area. So of course our next question was why did we receive a confirmation CALL the night before but no phone call the morning of about the cancellation not to mention the email that came an hour into the 9-11 window. The customer service staff was very unprofessional and we were told someone from the presidents office would call us within 4 hours- of course it never happened. Needless to say it's best we found out how this company operates before spending thousands of dollars. Waisted time but no waisted money ?

The provider showed up on time, he measured the space needed to be carpeted, albeit it fast, he spent less than two minutes when the other providers spent 15-20. He asked me what grade of carpet I was interested in and gave me a quote, at this point he had been at my house for less than 5 minutes. He then wanted me to give him a $50 deposit and I said no, I was getting several quotes. He whined excessively on how it was easer for him to take the $50 now and I could just cancel if I didn't want to go with them and get my money back. I thanked him, told him I was not giving out money to hold work. Asked him to email me a full and proper quote, he said ok and left. At this point in time, I have selected another provider. I did get a postal card yesterday telling me to call him for the quote (about two weeks after the initial visit). I can say I selected another provider for three reasons. I Received a better quote, they were more professional and they actually provided me a written quote as requested. Whats up with the postcard people? When I give you my email address and ask for an official quote?

The salesperson came in, breezed through the picking tile etc.. Before I knew it, I had signed a contract for $4,453.00 and agreed to have it installed the next day which of course breaks the agreement that you have three days to change your mind. I really should have known better. I think this salesperson was new and forgot to measure the area. I called and asked her to send me a copy of the are to set determine the price, she said they didn't do it that way. I said I wanted to know how they determined the cost. She kept saying we do it by the job.then I went to Lowes, Home Depot, and a local merchant their estimates were all around the low $2000.00's. I am 76 years old but I am educated and should have known better. They had a kiosk at BJ's and that is where they approached me. In my mind I equated them with BJ's. I have made impulsive purchases there and have never been disappointed. There prices are fair and reasonable. This company should not have a B rating on Angie's list. The salesperson had said that they were part of theBetter Business Bureau. When I went on line to check, you referred to the main office in Chicago. I had the work done in March last year. I tried to get things resolved before I left for CA where I live part of the time with my son. Unfortunately I came back with a please, please, rotator cuff injury and a few weeks later broke my left foot. So I kind of this on the back burner. I've since looked up reviews of this company on line. You would not believe the complaints. Please, please research this company. They're all over the the country and they're horrible everywhere. They also own Luna and Next Day Blinds. I still have copies of my emails with the someone at their office in Odenton MD. I know our stste representative and I have forwarded her all of this information.
Description of Work: Applied Armstrong luxury vinyl floor in my kitchen, hallway, and powder room. They never measured the area. I did after they were gone and came out with 170 square feet. The people that did the work didn't speak any English. Even the person in charge barely spoke English. They had to move a refrigerator, and stove. I had someone do the disconnecting because they did not do that. They removed the ceramic tile that was there, put in a sub-floor, and applied Armstrong alterna luxury vinyl. They didn't the quarter round properly and messed up mitering corners. They also cut the carpet and stained the bottom step of the stairway. I did not complain about the workers because they worked very hard. I didn't think they are the problem.

I liked their responsiveness and the cost. They were ready to put carpet in basically on our schedule. We had to delay the installation twice and that was not a problem for them, they were very easy to reschedule.
Description of Work: We have used Empire Today for carpets.
Empire does not give arrival times, so you really need to work with your salesperson - I had two large jobs, so I knew they would arrive early because they were all day jobs. The carpet installers arrived and, after a little confusion about the fact that I had a few pieces of furniture on the upper level (their paperwork said no furniture, even though I had told the salesperson I was not able to remove the items as expected - no big deal), got right to work. They worked very quickly, moving the furniture out of the way and then they removed all the old carpeting and padding. I made sure they knew how I wanted the stairs to look and they left extra carpeting so that the flooring installers would be able to finish the job properly. I explained that I had also scheduled installation of blinds and requested that they install the carpet on the lower lever first. The house had just been newly painted and there were a few marks left on the walls after the carpet installation, but that really cannot be avoided and is more preferable then paint on the rugs. The next day the flooring installers arrived and went right to work removing both carpet and linoleum. They made sure to ask what direction I wanted the laminate installed and were very efficient in getting everything done. They ran into a little challenge in the entrance area and made a great suggestion on how to address it. The process created a lot of dust, but the installers did not cover anything in the kitchen, resulting in my having to clean all the appliances and new blinds. I think this could have been avoided if they laid tarps down and did all the cutting outside. In additition, they left a lot of dust on the floors too. They should have done a better job of cleaning up, both inside and outside, but I believe that they worked much later then they expected and it was dark when they left. The most important thing is that the floors look great - both carpeting and wood.
Description of Work: Installed carpeting on the upper and lower floors of a three level townhouse and two sets of stairs, and installed laminate wood on the mail level (including the kitchen and a powder room, which involved moving the fridge and toilet to run the flooring under them).

I had a scheduled 2 hour window for a consultation. At the end of the window, no one had shown up or called. I called to see if the appointment was on schedule, only to be told the installer would be an hour late. No one apologized for my time wasted (taken off work to sit at home) or the fact that the tech didn't even bother to call and say he was running so late. When I called their national service number, they refused to let me speak to a manager and were rude and pushy. I was continuously interrupted and for every complaint I tried to address was just told and quot;I can set you up with another date and time.and quot; Never once did they address the actual issue. The unprofessional consultant who never bothered to show up or call is named John Carr. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. God only knows how your job will go.

I selected one of the two prior companies. Just saying...
Description of Work: Two estimates from reputable companies came back with approximately $5,000 for hardwood flooring for about 550 sq ft. Empire Today's estimate was $12,000 for a less reliable brand. Salesman tried to tell me their installers were better and worth the extra cost. And that was during the buy one and get one room free promo.

Salesman was wonderful to work with and very patient. He actually came back out a second time once it was determined we qualified for a few other discounts. The installers called ahead and arrived almost to the minute of when they said they would, on the early end of the time frame given for arrival. They brought several workers with them and the work was done extremely quickly and very neatly! Two of the workers stayed for an extra half hour going over each area they had installed to make sure they didn't miss anything.
