It felt a little like a car salesman approach in that it was high pressure sales, "If you sign up now we can drop the price." I signed up initially but ended up canceling the next day after I had thought more about it.

Both times we had Empire come out they did wonderful work. This is a very customer service oriented company. Both of the salesmen who came to the house to provide an estimate were on time and eager to please without being pushy. They required a minimal amount ($50) for the deposit. Empire did not complain at all when I had to reschedule installation 4 different times the second go-round because of other repairs/painting that needed to be done. (And, yes, they really will do it next day!) As big as they are, my order was never lost in their system. The crews who came out to install the carpet were very efficient and professional. I would definitely use them again.

Barry Levine came to our home with a good selection of tile samples. He didn't pressure us to purchase the most expensive tile. He was very concerned that the tile blended with our furnishings. We had priced tile at two stores before we called Empire Today. The price for this tile was comparable to the showroom stores, maybe slightly less. Barry promised that the installation would only take 1.5 days and it did. The tile is beautiful and they installed new wood trim, stained in the color of the tile, all around the room without charge. It required only a $100 deposit and gave us 12 months to pay interest free. Quite a deal!

They did the whole job in one day which was very convenient. They did a nice job and cleaned up after themselves. After one year, everything is still looking good and holding up well, even in the kitchen where water spills on the floor.

This was my first experience with Empire Today, and the overall experience was a positive one. My only concern is about the price and I should have gotten more quotes, but decided to go ahead with Empire's estimate anyway. I was especially happy about the constant telephone followup regarding appointments, customer satisfaction, etc. The sales rep came to my home the day after I called for an appointment which was very convenient. He explained everything thoroughly as to the work involved, options, warranty, etc. An appointment was made to have the work done the following week and the installers arrived on time as scheduled. They immediately got to work and were very efficient. I was advised that the entire installation time could take up to 6 to 8 hours; the actual time to install and clean up the work area was less a less than 6. The crew foreman explained everything to me about care of the liner and operation of the new faucet.

Well this was a disaster from the get go. Salesman showed up 15 minutes late and proceeded to measure the rooms that I wanted carpeted (3 - 2 bedrooms and a basement). Showed me samples of berber carpeting which I had asked for when I called them. Not a big selection but I found something that was "kind of" what I wanted but it appeared to be a cheap carpet. Finding a similar one, with a smaller loop, I asked him if this was not a better carpet than the big shaggy loop he was trying to sell me. He said no, it was a much cheaper made carpet that actually cost more. I asked hi to measure the steps as I was thinking of doing those also and he did so. After listening to his pitch I asked him how much. He quoted me a price that was much higher than I wanted to spend and I told him so. He called his manager and came back with a better price but I still was not all that happy. He called again and got yet another lower price. I said perhaps we could do business but wanted to check his measurements. I looked at his "dimensions map" and discovered that he had listed an extra 10 yards more than I actually had. He also had figured the stairs at 3 yards per stair. I pointed this out to him and asked why he was allowing 9 square feet for each step and he said " that's the way we do it" These people are totally disreputable and I would never use them. I will review the guys who actually sold me the carpet and installed it in another report.

My experience with them was alright. They delivered what they said they would. The price is competitive. They had to stay until 1:00am; until everything was done which was not explained to us.

Made appointment for in-home visit. Seller was a bit late and I had to call them to see why he was late but that's the worst thing. He was friendly, helpful and respectful. I told him what I wanted which made things easier. We agreed on a price and the carpet was installed 3 days later by a trio of installers in their 20s - again, very respectful and excellent work. One of the installers even offered to assist me in moving some boxes back upstairs after the installation. From start to finish, a very satisfying experience.

The job seems like it's going fine. The only problem I have is that he doesn't speak English. It's tough to communicate. The company said there would be somebody on the crew that spoke English, but it's a one man crew.

The color company came out, they had five guys worked non-stop installing this flooring for me. They were fantastic.

Excellent from first call for estimate to completion of work. Carpet, in particular was expertly and beautifully completed. Workers were efficient and professional.

They came out, did a good job, and cleaned up really well when they were done. They also had a great price. We compared with other prices and they had the best prices for the quality of product. They also had easy and flexible financing. We would use them for future services.

There was a minor snafu in the beginning, when I called to set up a free consultation. The rep was running late and they hadn't entered my phone number in correctly. (You'll be dealing with someone in another city since they're a national chain). But the guy who showed up was very professional. They're clearly all about quick turnaround so expect a hard sell: if you buy today and agree to a carpet they have in stock, you get 10 percent off, etc. But that's what they do and they're upfront about it. The guy told me a lot about the carpets themselves, which was informative. And I had a $150 coupon from Angie's List's newsletter, which I brought out at the end. That got the price down to around $800. That's for a 10'x 17' room - so you be the judge if that's a good deal. I only got one other estimate, which came in higher. The best part was that the workers showed up the next morning -- actually 30 minutes *before* the predicted 8-6 window. They were speedy and professional.

The install was rushed. It should not have been done because the quality of the sub floor, the contractor told my wife that it was okay. However after the install the floors were spongy. It took 6 weeks to have somebody even come out and look at the floors. I replaced the sub floors, and took them another 3 to 6 weeks come back and reinstall the floors. One of their associates stated they needed to use leveling compound, however the contractor told them no... they were not getting anymore free labor out of us. After the install was completed... they were several gaps in the floor, the trim work to did not match. They did a horrible job of cleaning up, ie: left out razor blades in my yard. I have contacted empire today several time, and only one person has called me back.

The installation went fine. However, I told them the floor would get heavy wear and that I was willing to pay to make sure I had the best product. They pushed their own brand, saying it was comparable to Pergo. It was not. One year later, the flooring is buckling at the seams. When I called them about it, they said that even coming out to look at the flooring would be charged to me, and that any replacement would be at full cost. As an experiment, I recently asked them to give me a quote of carpet. They gave me a price of $3,000. Another company (Bill's Carpet) gave me a price of $1,700 and can install in right away. Avoid Empire.

Not at all happy. Don't think I would trust them again.

Best price and very prompt. Their service was also very good. The job was complete quickly and efficiently. There was a problem with our debit card which made it seem we didnt have the money for the job. Management had the situation taken care of in a professional manor and we were discounted $200 off the job for the inconvenience. We have hired them for a future job to install new leaf resistant gutters.

We had a good experience with this company. We felt that the carpet was installed properly. We were also very pleased with the price that we paid for the carpet and the installation. They completed the job very quickly and I didnt feel they cut any corners.

We were never given an estimate. The sales rep. measure the rooms after we picked out samples and then would not break down price of each room based on the size of the room. The prices were very high and we couldn't figure out where the sales rep. got his numbers from. In fact, when we asked for a written estimate, we were told he would get in trouble with the company if he put anything in writing! Needless to say, all of our time was wasted if we can't get a written estimate.

I wasn't aware that they hired out contractors for their work.

I requested an estimate from Empire today based on their TV ads. They made an appointment between 9 and 11 AM. I received a call at 11AM that the estimator was just about to leave his appointment which was more than 30 min away. Even then he did not guarantee when he might arrive. Since I knew it would take another hour one he was here (i.e. almost 4 hours out of my day). I simply canceled the appointment. Don't call these guys unless you have a day to devote to waiting.

HORRIBLE! From beginning to end, it was a disaster! The sales people mislead you, the schedulers can't seem to get the time/day right, the installers couldn't be more unprofessional. The work was very shoddy to boot. The trim edges do not match at the corners, nail holes left without being puttied,in some areas there are gaps between the trim and the wall, I can go on and on. Definitely not the work you would expect from a "professional" company. I honestly wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Save yourself headache, and hassle by not contracting this company. It was so bad, I'm contemplating taking them to small claims court.
