Initially I thought utilizing Dana's Carpet & Upholstery would be a great investment. Upon our meet Dana presented himself as a seasoned professional and said everything I wanted to hear. I provided samples of the Berber carpet and moisture barrier padding that I wanted. Dana was insistent that he could provide the exact product for a great price (less than the competitors). Of course this was great news for me and I handed over a $500 deposit. Well this is where everything changed. On the day of install, Dana arrived 3 hrs late with Chuck (someone he never mentioned when he said he would be back to lay the carpet) and had a different product than what was discussed. I immediately advised that this is not what we talked about nor is it like the samples I provided. He indicated that his carpet supplier didn't carry what I was looking for, so he bought what they had (an inferior product then the existing carpet). At this point I am $500 in and decided that I would just walk away from the opportunity and take the loss. After some negotiations we opted to move fwd but the suggestion was to add double padding to offer comparable comfort to the existing carpet. Me not having enough experience with carpet installation, agreed and Chuck began to install. At this time I was informed that Chuck would install and that Dana doesn't install carpet, he cleans carpet. That was a surprise, he acted like he was installing. Another surprise was that whenever Chuck stopped working, he would nod off (definitely not a good sign) but the carpet had already been removed, so I had to stay and baby sit Chuck. Ironically, in between nods, Chuck had nothing nice to say about Dana. Actually he was advising me as to how Dana gets jobs but doesn't know how to install, always late and won't help remove or install anything. Coincidentally, he was right, Dana left him to remove and install everything by himself. Ok, bad enough so far right? Gets worst ... after they left, I started noticing a few seams in the carpet, one by my doorway was already coming apart and the other seam was in my bedroom... for whatever reasons Chuck had put a seam stretching the width of my bedroom right on the inside of the door (not at the entry point but 18 inches into the room) ... it wasn't visible at first but became very apparent that it didn't look right. Also noticed that Chuck had cut the padding way back in some areas and you could see the lines forming. I immediately contacted Dana, who was apologetic and guaranteed that he would come back out and correct the issue. Of course neither Dana or Chuck ever came back. Since then I had another team come out and fix most of Dana's/Chuck's installation (of course more money). Actually, we are scheduling for him to recut, reseam and replace the 18" cluster muck that was previously laid down. Crazy enough, they had the exact carpet and padding from the same supplier that Dana said no longer carried it. The technician had advised that it would cost a little more (which was ok because it's what I wanted) but that he could get it. He asked his assistant to go to the truck and bring both sample boards. I saw what Dana bought and I saw flavors of what I wanted. Incredible!!! I took the time to write this, just to inform those who are looking for a good carpet installation team ... DO NOT INVEST YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY WITH DANA'S CARPET & UPHOLSTERY ... till this day I haven't heard back from Dana or Chuck ... BEWARE ... BEWARE BEWARE ... If you need a carpet technician NOT just a carpet installer, please feel free to contact me... I found the right crew, just too late ...
